He is a great teacher. He has a sense of humor, not TOO many jokes, but he keeps it light. He is willing to answer ALL of your questions. he is GREAT during office hours, and you usually get out of class early (i had a night class). he skips things he finds irrellavant to the rest of the world like Hyperbolic functions. he grades with a curve. he assigns LITTLE homework, and his quizes ARE homework problems. so if you do it, you pass the quizes. Also his grader is THE MAN. i love that guy. he gives you a LOT of partial credit even if you messed up, he can tell you knew what you were Supposed to do, you just messed it up. all in all, he is the BEST damn math teacher i've ever had, he has multiple ways of explaining things. OH and if you guys out there think i'm one of those kids who has an A+ and loves him for it... I Don't. i'm not doing all that well. but it isn't his fault, i understand how to do the work, i now GET IT, i just suck at tests. so i have like a C- or D+... and i still love the guy. take it how you want. but do yourself a favor and take HIM

Mr. Bachman, overall, is a very good instructor. I, personally, am not doing too well in the class right now, but that is due to my own lack of discipline. He is more than happy to answer any questions you may have. The homework isn't too difficult, and he doesn't assign some ridiculous amount of problems. His quizzes aren't bad at all, if you've done the homework. If you can, I recommend trying to get him as your instructor.

He's a nice guy, tries extra hard to be clear, and is very fair on grading. I like his style of teaching, I'm not sure if all Calc classes are taught that way, but it's exactly like my last year in high school. Derive the equation or rule, show a few examples, give a problem, go over it, and you're done! He always asks for questions, and he answers them as clearly as possible. I'm going to crash his math143 class next quarter.

This teacher is a very good professor to take for math. He goes over the material clearly and will help you if you have trouble. This guy is a genius and knows his stuff. If you are having trouble he is very willing to help you out. The weekly quizes consist of some homework problems and he even goes over homework problems in class! Plus he grades on a curve, what else can you ask for in a teacher? Take his class, you won't regret it.

Dr. Bachman is great. He knows his stuff and explain everything step by step. Sometimes, he may go a bit fast but if you just ask him to slow down he will and go over it again. His quizes are straight off teh homework and his midterm and final are very fair. Highly recommend

This is a great teacher. He knows his material so you don't get confused while they stumble around trying to figure out the info for themselves, is still relatively young (he is energetic and has not yet lost his marbles) so you stay awake, and generally a good guy. If you ask for help, he will help, but he is good about not babying the class. He moves right along if no one speaks up which is good cuz you don't waste time when everyone already gets it. Don't get me wrong, it is a hard class and a hard subject (especially if you don't study well, like me), but he is a great teacher.

This guy is great. He knows his stuff, and knows how to teach it. I would recommend Dr. Dave to anyone taking Calculus.

Get this guy for any math class you can. He is great, he will go over everything you need to know for the tests. His quizes come straight off the homework so they are easy if you have done your homework. I would recomend Dr. Dave to any one taking Calc.

bachman is a chill guy. he's nice, sure.. he makes jokes, sure.. he tries to be one of the guys, sure.. but he's a crappy teacher. he comes in late, then he just chills on the table sippin coffee, then he just asks for questions, then with not really any sort of lesson plan. his weekly quizzes were one-two problems consisting problems straight from the homework. that was a relief. however, the TESTS.. were KILLER. there's only ONE test and a FINAL for ur grade, plus the weekly quizzes. no homework collected, even though it was assigned. i did ALL the homework, did fine on the quizzes, however the test was craaazy. he had like 4 problems, and he basically CREATED a problem consisting of five mathematical techniques!! CRAAZY geez. wth?! umm.. then he hardly taught.. so yeh.. it was a majorly regret to take him especially with a class tha twas twice a week. so i learned my lesson and to take a GOOD teacher four days a week, like it should be.

He's a very good teacher and explains material very well. He gives once a week quizzes on the homework problems instead of collecting homework. That can make the class very difficult or very easy. He only gives two tests making it imperitive that you do well on each of them. Quizzes: 30% Midterm: 30% Final 40% I recommend taking him if you're able to apply something you learned several days ago which I found to be hard.

Dr. Bachman was such a great teacher and I would recommend him to anyone. He really knows what he's talking about, and he makes the class really easy to get an A in. He does not have any homework collected, but we have a quiz once a week where he tells us exactly what problems are going to be on it. If you do those problems, you will get an A on every quiz. There is only one midterm and the final which are both not bad. He's not one of those teachers that tries to trick you or find the hardest problems in the section. He is really smart and really knows his stuff. He's actually writing a book for MATH 241 right now, so trust me, he know's what he's happening about. Take him if you want to learn math and get an A.

Like all the other posts say, this guy is really good. Very generous grading, and a very good understanding of the material. He teaches well, but don't think you won't have to study. It is very difficult material, hence, my grade in the class.

We learned Differentiable Forms versus vector calc which is what the other 241 classes learned. Differentiable forms includes vector calc and is actually very easy to understand and use. Prof. Bachman explained things very clearly and in different ways if people were having problems understanding a concept. Weekly exams with two or three problems substituted for midterms and took alot of the pressure off. Just do good on the final (which I most definatly did not) and you should be fine.

Bachman is probably the easiest teachers I have ever taken. The only problem is that I did not learn one thing. I did no work and still got a B. Besides my grade, I did not like this class. He wrote his own book, which was impossible to understand. He also teaches a differant method to solve problems then the other 241 class's, so you cannot get any help from people outside your class.

Learn NOTHING + get a good grade = ok by me. Honestly though you probably won't learn anything in this class if he is still teaching differential forms instead of vector calculus. But hey is that really that bad? Most of us won't need this high level math anyways so might as well take the GPA boost. He gives weekly quizes with no midterm and an EASY final. If you go to his office hour before the quiz he will basically tell you how to do it. If you can't make it to the office hour chances are he'll tell you in class anyways.

This is the first C I have recieved in my entire life. I hope that says something to all of you out there watching their GPA. Do not take him--this class was a nightmare!
