be sure to bring your own lube because he doesn't even have the decency to bring some for you for how hard he will fuck you.

Danowitz breezes through lectures because he expects you to read the book beforehand. When he does a lecture to the class, he lectures in this dry and boring tone. He'd assign quizzes every week which were brutal. He says these quizzes prepare you for the final but that is BS; they just drag your final grade down. He would be helpful during lab if you asked for help. Other than that, you were mostly on your own. I'd recommend other CPE 133 professors if possible.

Danowitz is a nice guy. If you go to office hours, he is very helpful. However, taking his class did not prepare me at all for 233. His lectures were not clear, and he did not explain the material well at all. He would give us sections of code to use, without explaining what it did. The final was extremely different from any quiz, we took. If you have Danowitz, I would highly recommend watching Professor Bensons' online lectures. If you do that, you will understand the material, but his lectures will not prepare you.

I took him over summer, 2016. Papa Danowitz is by far the best professor I've ever had. He will not give you an easy A and you will have to work for it. He even says he would rather be a bully at first because he wants you to learn. I had to leave school for 2 years and just came back to finish so my CPE 133 skills were very rusty. But the best thing about him is that he is so knowledgeable and helpful, and I was able to catch up within the first week of class. Show up to class and go to his office hours. You will understand what I am talking about.

This is my first time taking Danowitz, he seems chill and nice but don't be fooled. Everytime you ask him a question he will give you the weird look and reply back with a trick question, which makes you look and feel stupid. The quizzes are ridiculously and annoyingly difficult. He also deducts 20% if you turn in the assignments one day late, while most people do 10%, like taking this class in a 5 week summer session with 2 big fat lab assignments due each week isn't bad enough. I also hear something about him favoring a few guys in our class if give them 100% on some lab assignments even though their simulations don't work. If you don't care about failing or getting a bad grade and just want to learn for the sake of increasing your knowledge then you might like him. Otherwise take someone else.

First of all, I had Professor Danowitz for 133 and 233. Also, I had already failed 233 with another professors and taking it over 5 weeks seemed incredibly daunting since hardware/assembly is a horribly abstract concept that many fail to grasp the first time and this class does require a lot of time in order to understand the material and do the work. Thankfully, Professor Danowitz genuinely cares that a) his students learn the material and that b) his students pass the class. Also, if you can't make it for one day or have some other issue he's understanding. Fair warning: if you ask him a question, he won't straight up give you the free answer, instead he makes you think about what the question is so that you can answer it yourself....you know.....teaching. Grading can be competitive (Hardware/Programming) but then again we are at Cal Poly. But he can also be very generous when grading quizzes, midterms and finals (which make up 40% of the class grade). So if you're looking for a teacher who hands out solutions manuals, passes students along, or doesn't care that you learn the material, find someone else. Otherwise, I highly recommend Danowitz.

He was really nice and helpful the first week but after that not really. When it comes to having questions I prefer asking the smarter guys in my class than coming to Danowitz because of his attitude. Nothing wrong with what he did, but the way he did it really discouraged people. I guess if i have to choose among all CPE instructors at cal poly then i will go with danowitz, since he's still young and can improve, and other instructors are not that much better either. Be prepared that you might need to take this class more than once, regardless of who you take it with.

I took 5 week summer course with Danowitz. I had no memory of what happened in 133 so I felt behind before the class even started, but going to Danowitz's office hours for the first week made all the material click and all the other labs were easy after that. Danowitz doesn't tell you the answer, which is annoying but probably helpful. I thought the final exam was way easier than the quizzes which was nice. The quizzes should have been worth 10% and the final project worth 20% because we spent a lot more time writing assembly than we did talking about parallel shift registers. This might just be a personal preference because my quiz grade was a D and was the only thing bringing me down in the class. In my opinion, writing a project using the assembly language we've worked with all quarter is more important than something mentioned in the book once. Overall a good class, I would recommend him to anyone especially since a 10-week version of this class will be easier.

Danowitz may not be the most energetic person, but he's helpful when you get stuck, grades very fairly and his exams are straightforward. He cut one project and 2 assignments since he felt like it would be too heavy a workload for us. There is a pretty sharp learning curve at the start of this course which takes a while to get used to. Overall I would absolutely recommend Danowitz for 329.

Danowitz should take a short walk on a long pier. He's pretty great. All the 133 students are babies.
