Fine teacher, but a little dry in the presentation. I wouldnt suggest having her at 8:00 in the morning, might be difficult staying awake.

Those who gave tom a bad grade must not have had a ton of other lecturers outside of the GRC department. For anyone who doesn't know, our professors are amazing, go take bio, or engineering and try to get some of the one on one help you get in GRC, it wont happen. Ok now on to tom... this guy has the potential to drive you crazy because he talks so much, listen to him, it pays off. Tom wants you to do good, if you know how to use a computer well and have a little bit of experience with an adobe programs this class is a breeze. Pay attention, come to class, go to open lab and you are fine, you get to self grade a lot of your papers, try hard and give yourself a 40 our of 40. Tom isn't that bad for 201, I can't comment on any other classes.

I know most people rip on Mr. Goglio, but I kind of liked him. He's a bit like a quirky old uncle. He takes some getting used to, but if you give him a chance, you will find that he has a lot of knowledge to share. He taught me things I never knew I never knew, and I wouldn't mind taking a lab from him in the future, although I probably wouldn't go out of my way to do so. If you do the work and pay attention, you should be fine. He's really a nice guy if you can look beyond the surface.

this isn't a very hard lab. the time goes by so fast, you're only working on a few projects. Most of them are self-graded anyway! the most boring project is probably the one in Quark. Everything else is pretty interesting and fun. Goglio is kinda weird but he will definetly help you when you need it. the only thing that sucks is that you have to finish projects on your own time so either you need the programs on your own computer, or you have to go to Lab hours which sucks because it's always full. So manage your time well and it's a fun class

People freaked me out a little bit about this guy before taking this class, and you know what, I think Goglio is a pretty good professor. True, he can be long-winded at times but NOT as bad as others can be. He knows what he's teaching and loves it, and those are the most important qualities I look for in a professor. He is helpful during lab and very understanding. He presents material well, but just be aware, at 8AM it's a little difficult to wake up. I'm taking him again for 202 lab next quarter in the AM so nobody should be that freaked out. I really appreciate him. The load was a decent amount, especially as my first GRC lab, but honestly, you grade yourself most of the time. You will learn a lot though about the basics: InDesign, Illustrator, Quark, and code writing which I found to be fun! You can create actual designs out of code, that was really rewarding for me. You'll also have a fun "final" on the last day. Basically, if he's your only choice don't sulk, he's a great guy and he'll help you out in anyway he can.

I really like Goglio, he knows what he's talking about but will always admit it if he makes a mistake. He is one of the most understanding teachers i have had!

Pretty good teacher. He knows what he's talking about and the projects are pretty easy. There's 8 per quarter and half of them are self-graded. He's a nice guy and does care about his students.

I HATE TOM. No to be mean, but he really gets on my nerves. Some people like him, but I can not stand him. When he asks you to do something, there's always something wrong with the way you did it. Nothing is ever good enough for him. And all he ever does is complain! I can't even begin to describe how annoying he is with all his problems, and such. Then, when he starts going on his "soapbox" as he calls is, I just want to scream. He is so ignorant and really doesnt understand the world. The most annoying thing is how he takes 3 hours to explain something that should and can only take 30 min, 45 if you stretch it. Really avoid him! I make it a point to avoid his classes after taking 201.

Tom knows a lot of info, but has difficutly presenting it in a understandable and interesting fashion. He only teaches labs, but if possibly take the lab with the professor that teaches the course, not him. It just won't be as interesting, helpful, or appropriate for the tests.

the guy smells so bad, i wish somebody would get him a stick of deodorant. a lot of the stuff he tries to explain could be cut down to layman's terms in about 5 seconds, but he adds in a whole bunch of information that nobody understands or cares about. it's not a surprise that he doesn't actually teach lectures, only labs. and he keeps you for every minute of lab, which sucks, cause you NEVER get out early.

Well... I happen to disagree with a lot of these other evaluations. Tom is a great professor! He is very down to earth which makes learning a fun process and has a very good grasp on th esubject.

Try to avoid Tom. I have restructured my schedule twice now to avoid getting him for labs, and it was worth it, as I got to learn from the masters (Horelick and Keif) while everyone else complained about Tom. I will be blunt. Tom is an okay lecturer for 202 because he knows Photoshop, but not for other classes. He does not know the material for classes like 315, 316. Taking a lab from him is kind of like having a graduate student teach it: often referring to notes, he shadows the other professors and just teaches what they teach, only not as well. When I have him as a professor, I feel like my education is being shortchanged! Some of the other faculty and staff don't get along with him very well. Also, HE WILL MAKE YOU FEEL STUPID. He likes to make fun of students. If you ask what a word means, he'll say something sarcastic like, "It's called... A DICTIONARY!" This has happened not only to me but to several other students. Oh yeah, and you can't do things your way: if you don't use Command+Spacebar for the zoom tool, he'll yell at you. And don't stand near him in 315, because he might dip his hand in smelly fountain solution and stick it in your face and make you smell it. I could go on and on, but I'm sure you get the idea...

Here is the deal, I've had every teacher in the GrC department and Tom is probably the most bashed on for no reason. Face it, all GrC teachers are good, they are all really helpful and pretty understanding. Tom is a nice guy and a good teacher. When taking any class you should ask yourself after leaving that class "did i learn what i was supposed to learn in this class?" If you show up to class you will learn, Tom has no problem with helping you out if you are confused and for the most part he knows what he is talking about. He teaches 202 as an intruductory class and if you manage to get lost you are probably in the wrong major because Tom is the most simple lab teacher you will have. Overall he is a good teacher, just dont look into his eyes when he stares at you.

Tom is a really funny and nice guy if you get to know him outside of classes. But be forewarned, he's extremely boring in lab. Avoid taking his lab sections at all cost if possible. He takes enormous amount of time doing demos, explaining every step (which is most of the time unnecessary), leaving you with no time to work on projects during class; forcing you to come in to lab during open lab hours. I had him for the whole 200 series and it was a nightmare; he's not only boring at presenting the material, but a perfectionalist and will not let you out of lab early under any cercumstances.

Tom is a great guy! He's very nice and everything, BUT he's a horrible instructor. He is unfamiliar with the material he is supposed to be teaching (students correct him and often have to find help elsewhere). He also has a tendency to babble on and thus, can be very boring. In labs, he'll overdo his demos and shows you how you can do something every step of the way--far too time consuming! Tom leaves us virtually no time to work on our projects during class. One time he talked for nearly the entire 3 hours of lab! Avoid Tom's sections if you can.

Tom is a terrible instructor. AVOID taking lab with him if you can. I had the unfortunate event of changing my schedule around to take lab with Blum instead of Tom, but Blum ended up switching the labs with Tom! That was frustrating. But in any case, Tom is absolutely terrible at teaching. He may have experience in the printing industry, but he does not know how to teach. He talks a lot about a bunch of stuff that really ought to be more concise and leaves you zero time to work on your lab project. Listening to him drone on and on about some feature in Photoshop can put anyone to sleep. You won't learn anything from him, I guarantee it.
