he's a boring lecturer, but i had a friend who wasn't doing too hot in the class and blum was willing to help out in any way he could, instead of just saying it was my friend's own fault. you don't really need to read, but you do need to go to class and listen to what he says that's not on powerpoint, because that's what most of the test material is on.

Good teacher. Easy to talk to and works with you if you have a problem. He is fair as far as getting as many people into his classes as possible. He is very organized. I thought he was great!

All of Blum's tests pretty much are straight off his powerpoints. Class can be kind of boring, because he teaches straight off the slideshows. However, he clarifies all the hard topics for his students and explains it more. Lab also helps makes the class a lot more understandable.

You absolutely HAVE to take Prof. Blum if you get the chance for a lab!!! He is a wonderful teacher and goes above and beyond to help his students understand the material and has tons of patience with you if you are struggling with something. He is by far the best lab teacher I've had in the GRC dept. He made the class such an enjoyable experience!!! Outside of class he is very personable as well! Get to know this professor--you'll be glad you did! :)

If you're taking Blum for the first time, he will seem really dry and boring to you at first. But as you take the Electronic Prepress core classes, it starts getting better. I had a better time in 338 than 202, and 429 was the best class I had ever had with Blum. GrC429 isn't quite as structured as other classes and much more interactive, which was by far more interesting than 202. Blum really knows his stuff. He is an excellent resource if you ever need help. Warning: he IS a little fast-paced in lab, but get him anyways. You will understand the material far better if you have him in lab. Take notes in class; as long as your retain information in class, you do ok in tests.
