Professor Carr is great. His class is difficult but he makes a somewhat dry and boring subject very interesting. He uses current real life examples, videos, and supplemental material in class and I honestly look forward to going. He also tells you stories about his life experiences which I always like hearing about. Overall, from what I heard about other bus law teachers, take Carr! And don't get me wrong this is no easy A, and there is A LOT of reading/ note taking, but it's worth it!!!

Prof. Carr is such a great guy! He really cares about his students and his tests are really fair. Lots of reading though. Also, be prepared to participate.

This guy is a complete fucker. It almost seems like you need to be a lawyer to get good grades on his tests. He asks questions that seem like they are trying to trick you into answering them wrong I have never studied more for a class in my life. Personlly I wish this guy would die. He is just a typical prick lawyer who thinks his shit don't stink and everyone should be sued for the stupidest shit. The only reason why I got a good grade is because I put so much effort into the class, but everyone of my friends that has taken it with him did really bad.

Professor Carr is super hot, but he is your typical lawyer. He comes off as very arrogant and he is super difficult. My friends loved their business law teachers but Professor Carr just crams too much material into too little time. He's not horrible or anything, I just wish that I would've gotten the other teachers.

Really good professor. If you think you might like law at all Carr will make you like it even more. He can be kind of a hard ass but he's a really good lecturer and makes the whole thing really interesting. I actually would look forward to going to this class. There are 3 multiple choice tests and a 7page paper. The paper is one going to a case at court and viewing it. I really liked this class because of professor Carr. He's younger and a lawer and knows what he's talking about. Take Carr for BUS 207!

This was one of the best courses I've taken. I did not do as well as I hoped but got the grade I deserved and studied for. The guy above that like to use profanities does not know jack (what does he want -- an A for just showing up? just because you study hard you deserve a good grade? give me a break). Carr knew his stuff, was tough, and fair. The only thing that I did not like was that it was in the silo with gobs of students, but that's not Carr's fault. I have taken a couple of other classes in the silo and in comparison to the other two dudes I had, Carr made taking a class there a painless experience.

I loved this guy and how he teaches. He is pretty demanding and expects a lot. I liked that though, and is one reason I took his class as i heard that some of the other b-law classes were more play time than learning. We need more professors like him at Poly. The paper we had to write after watching a court trial was awsome. And he is sexy to look at - makes time in the yucko silo fly by.

good class, good prof. carr requires you to go to court and watch a trial and write a paper about it. at first i was not excited to do it but once i went i was hooked and ended up going back everyday to watch the trial and how it turned out. one of the best assignments i've had at cal poly. did not like taking the class in the silo with so many other students though.

Great class, great professor. I have been considering going to law school but was not sure. His class convinced me to go for it.

This guy is a fuckin dick head!!!!!!!!!!!! All he does is talk about how great of a lawyer he is. His test are very unfair. All the other polyratings were probably written by him. Don't listen to them, this guy blows mad asshole. Don't take him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The class is hard. You have to study for the tests, but they are fair and you learn a lot. The people who don't like him are the ones who are lazy and don't study. If you can't handle a challange then what are you doing at Cal Poly? I came here to learn something, not to float through college. Carr will teach you something if you are willing to put in the effort to learn.

all i will say is that of all the classes i have had the last year or two, this is the only one where i actually looked forward to coming and felt like i was learning something valuable while i was there. i only wish that i could say the same thing about my other classes this quarter.

Don't bother buying the book for this class, just study study study the course reader which he often refers to as the study bible. I made the mistake of failing the first test, but since there's 3 more tests to come and a report I managed to work my grade up to a B. His class is super interesting and even with the 7-9 pm time slot it wasn't too hard to make myself go to class that late. His course reader has notes of all the chapters you need to read and then some articles and examples of the things that are outlined. You don't need to worry about knowing the exact little parts of the articles but he may ask on the test if there was an article regarding a certain subject and as long as you actually read the articles you'll know the answer. Overall it's a cool class and study hard for it because if you don't know every little detail you can easily be tricked when taking the test.

Yeah, his tests are hard and you do have to study a lot, but if you do, you'll do well on the tests and even if you never get an A on the tests but write a good paper at the end, you can still get an A! If you enjoy law take him, cause he is good at teaching real law.

A teacher who really does a great job at making a subject which can be boring, pretty interesting. The tests do require a lot of memorizing, but are not as bad as people make them out to be. The trial observation paper you have to write isn't bad either, and the 8 page length goes pretty quickly. STUDY THE SAMPLE QUESTIONS he has on reserve and the COURSE READER, both are vital to doing well on the tests. The only annoying part was the $50+ text book that you had to buy. He is one of the authors and out of the 25 or so chapters he has you read only a few of them. Clearly the book isn't needed but since he is the author he wants you to buy it. OVERALL one of the best teachers I've had at Poly so far.

Best and most challenging class I have taken at Poly. If you are willing to work hard the class will not only be extremely benficial but you will end up with an A or B. Professor Carr knows what he is talking about and is good at what he does. If you want to feel as though all the money you pay for college is worth it, take Carr's business 207 class, you wont regret it.

Rock solid professor. You have to work and earn your grade in this class. If your a lazi ass or a whiner I see trouble for you. I really liked the class and the teach. Peace out.

I agree with the other evals, HOT! So, definitely NOT bad to go to this class 7-9pm two nights a week (as for my other night class, not as much eye candy and more boring material!). Carr is awesome. He has so much power and energy and stresses which points to know for the tests. The course reader is awesome. Although I was among the "why-should-we-have-to-buy-this-big-huge-expensive-book" group, I always made sure I read it, the examples inside, and reviewed the Course Reader. It did help, you just don't use much of it. The Course Reader is awesome (I've passed it on to someone in another 207 class). Oh, and when he says to use the E-Reserve tests, USE THEM. I usually ran out of time and didn't use them -- I got a B. It probably would have been an A if I'd made more time for them. The report you have to write is pretty cool too. He's very understanding about the difficulty students have in finding time to attend the trials, so feel free to email him.. he will tell you to try harder and to keep trying, but to keep him updated. At least he doesn't blow off his students like some Prof's. He comes off strong in his lectures, and you can tell he is not lacking self-confidence, but it almost makes the class more interesting. No matter what, whether you're there for the eye candy or just because "you have to," you'll find yourself loving law afterwards. STUDY! Make your time spent in the classroom worthwhile!

Finally a Cal Poly prof who has standards and high expectations for students. This guy totaly rocks.

This guy is lame. He thinks he is really cool and funny, but he's not. He laughs at his own jokes just to break the silence. He wastes a bunch of time "getting admin out of the way", which includes a bunch of irrelevent newspaper articles and promoting the entrepreneurship club. He will make you download and print out like 400 pages on your computer, which will dry up a couple ink cartridges. That also means you have to read 400 pages of his course reader, in addition to like 10 chapters in the book. He will also make you go observe a court trial and write an eight page paper about it. Oh ya, there is three midterms and a final too. Each test was atleast 20 pages long and by the end of them you just want to kill yourself. Actually, I felt like killing myself every time I went to class. Don't take this guy if want to enjoy your quarter. The only reason I got an A was because I read the course reader twice before every test and studied my ass off. It wasn't worth it! I recommend that you take a different teacher. I wish I would have. Carr, I know you read these, this is for you... You're not cool. You never were and you never will be.

sooooo hot-want to touch the heiney! This is one hot fella! Ladies-bring an extra pair of panties.......boys, if you want to meet horney girls-take this class!! Lets just say- I mentally undress Carr's clothes off in class while he covers contract law. Oh yeah- He is a good teacher too, and you will learn a lot! He is stoaked on this subject and he is fair-STUDY! HE IS HOT!

This is how it is. what a bunch of frickin pussys. I thought hisclass and teaching stlye where awesome. He even told us at the beginning of class that he was going to challenge us and told us to take somebody else if we were looking to skate. i also looked him up in office hours and never had a teach who was as helpful as this guy so if you want to learn TAKE CARR and if not then go back to high school

I totally agree with the last one. What you get out of this class is what you put into it. I worked hard but also learned a ton and i actually remember the stuff we studied. Sometimes I read these ratings and wonder if I was in the same class as the people who wrote them --if anything Carr laughs at himself pretty well and does not take himself nearly as seriously as other teachers I have taken. Carr if you do read these things dont listen to these whiners and keep doing your thing.

Prof Carr is an awesome teacher! I would recommend this class to anyone who really wants to know business law inside and out. He does a great job of showing how everything we learn can be applied to our jobs and businesses in the future and of how it affects the real world today with all of his newspaper clippings. He genuinely cares for his students and is really helpful, especially in office hours. I felt completely comfortable asking him about legal advice in my our personal stuff and he doesn't mind helping out in the least. The course involves lots of reading, but as long as you keep up with it you are fine. The grading is fair, he's a good professor and doesn't want to give anyone an easy A tho! which is quite nice i think. The final isn't cumulative because you cover so much in the 10 weeks. He is a funny guy, brings lots of educational clips to class to watch, and takes his own personal time to hold a study session the evening before his tests. He's awesome, and i personally think that some guys have a problem with him because they are jealous of his law degree, his own practice and his great looks cuz they know that in class all the ladies are focused on him and not them! Carr is an amazing professor......let him inspire you too!

This class was awesome. It was extrememly interesting and I learned a ton. Carr requires that you study hard but it is very rewarding. There are four tests - all multiple choice. The questions are challenging, but if you study what you are supposed to you will be well prepared. There is also a trial observation paper. You observe a civil case and write a paper. For me, it was an amazing experience. Class is always interesting. Overall great experience - one of the best classes and professors I have had yet!

No complaints. Carr is very organized and helpful and I emjoyed his sense of humor and teaching style. Before I started the class I was not that interested in business but with him talking about current events and analogies the class turned out to be interesting and fun. I recommend taking him.

Carr is the best professor in the world. He puts so much effort into the class and if you match half his effort you will succeed. His lectures are very good and interesting and he has you print out a course reader that outlines each chapter. If you read each chapter, the course reader, and answer the practice problems that he gives you there is no excuse for not getting a good grade. There are 4 tests each with 75 tough problems and then a Trial Observation Paper which seems tough but is actually really fun. If you want a good grade and to learn a lot about law take Carr for bus 207.

Be prepared to read like crazy and work your butt off!!! The Course reader in his class will become your best friend! No Joke! Although Prof. Carr's class was very difficult, I am glad to have taken it! Some days were boring, and other days were really interesting! There were three tests, a final, and an 8 page paper-but don't worry, it's not too bad! Overall, this class was a challenge. If you do the work, and know the Course Reader from front to back, you should do well on the tests!!! Goodluck!!!

Ok this is all I have to say about my favorite Professor Carr: Even though he is an arrogant asshole I'd still let him bend me over his desk. Seriously, the man is fine, I'd give him a taste. All the girls in that class wanted him bad. If it wasn't for the fact that his wife had just had her baby I probably would've gone in his office hours to earn some "extra credit", know what I'm saying? I recommend him because you just want to look at him the whole time. The only time I ever get bummed by Chris is when he wears regular clothes instead of his suits. Ok and for his real evaluation: his class is pretty decent, I'd recommend him. He's pretty rough but it's not hard to pass. Chris if you are reading this the number is (805)528-1372. Carr is very knowledgeable on all aspects of the class. The online resources he posts are also very helpful so look at them and USE THEM!! The dude is also passionate about the material and that is another reason I liked the class. Another thing that makes him good is that he is a person that can relate to you and NOT a teacher who thinks he is above everybody else. If you are a person that wants to learn take him.

Chris Carr is a good professor. He's a parttime lawyer so he pretty much knows his information. He's real clear on the subject and he is easily understood. He uses powerpoint slides for lectures and sometimes videos, too. There's 3 midterm and a final [not cummulative]and some of the midterms were pretty difficult. You have to print out powerpoint slides handouts and other reading material on blackboard to be use in his class. There's over 30 pages of handouts you have to read!! He has given you practice questions in the handouts and i suggest you practice them! About 1/3 of it is going to be on the midterm! Overall, Professor Carr is a good teacher and i TOTALLY recommend him.

Professor Carr is awesome! He is the best professor I've had here so far. He's a very cool guy and he works as an attorney so he is able to relate the things we're learning in class to the real world. It makes the material easier to understand with his real life examples. Business Law is pretty interesting but the one drawback is that Carr assigns a lot of reading. A lot of it is interesting but there is a pretty heavy load. Otherwise, he's tests are very fair and he does curve the grades at the end. Take his class if you can!

This class hurt me so good. I wokred my ass off but learned alot. The resources he puts on line are really good so use them. I definiately recommend him.

ok i dunno why everyone loves this guy so much. he has favorites in the class which i think sucks, and his tests are stupid. MC objective means there should be only one right clear answer. i went to his office hours to talk about some of the questions he marked me wrong on, and after almost all of them he would say "oh i do see it your way, your point is very valid, you are correct also, but i was just looking for something different." are you kidding me!? objective means one right answer. carr i hope you read this, make your tests more clear and objective not subjective! ok enough bashing, other than that i did learn a lot.

This was really a good class because Dr. Carr teaches you how to look at things differently, get you out of your comfort zone and think. I would take him again for sure.

He is NOT HOT, all the girls who think he is so cute must have never seen a somewhat decent looking guy in their lives, because he is way below average, they are also all freshmen who don't know what actually makes a class good, the teaching not how the teacher looks!!!! And most importantly he blows at teaching and his tests are a bunch of bullshit!!!

Professor Carr is one of the best teachers i have had. His tests are extremely hard and you have to study all the material. However, he made it easy to learn the material and he is a great lecturer. He makes his class interesting by bringing in a lot of case studies. The final paper involves a lot of time because you have to go to a trial. If you are willing to put in the time, take this teacher- you won't regret it!

Carr was a very straightforward teacher and though the stuff was dry at times, I definitely learned a lot. Apparently he is not the easiest of the BUS 207 lecturers, so if you dont really want to spend the time studying for this class, take someone else. He really wants us to know this stuff and holds review sessions and answers emails very quickly. This quarter he changed the format to 4 midterms and offered a huge extra credit assignment. 3 x 5 cheat sheets front/back for each test. I would recommend Carr if business interests you at all.

He made this class very interesting and it applied well to real life. His tests are not that hard, do the reading and the practice problems and you'll be fine. Its easy to not come to class because there are 200 people in the silo, but if you do it makes the tests even easier. Definetely a good teacher

If you are NOT a good test taker do not take this class! You have 4 tests and that is your grade. You need TWO huge books for the class and there is a lot of reading and practicing. I thought the class would be really easy after reading these ratings, but I found out the hard way, it was hard. I went to a lot of office hours because I struggled with a lot of the concepts to get help. He is a really nice guy don't get me wrong it was just a struggle for me.

He would be a far more effective teacher if he could check his ego at the door. Anybody who, ten minutes into the first class, informs the class that he can rope, saddle and ride out on a horse within 90 seconds...well, let's just say there are some problems there. I was truly embarassed for him about 25% of the time. However, if you can keep from throwing up, it's easy to get a decent grade. My grade would have been better but there were times I simply could not force myself to attend another of his "Aren't-I-So-Special!" lectures. But if you read the material, attend class, and print/study his powerpoints, you'll get a good grade. Just be sure to go to Costco and buy a Tub-O-Maalox before you hit that first class. You'll be sorry if you don't.

CARR\'s bus 207 class is sooooo hard!!!! There is so much reading... ex. over 500 pages for a quarter class! He doesnt teach the material towards the test. His tests are absurd!! The multiple choice questions are so unfair, there are more than one right answer its so unreasonable!! DONT TAKE CARR!!!

Yes, this class is not a breeze. Sure, there\'s a lot of reading. It\'s a LAW class! What did you expect? Professor Carr is a fantastic professor. He uses a lot of different teaching methods and uses great, real world examples. There are 4 midterms in this class. No final, no papers. I never went to his office hours but I was told he was accommodating and helpful by friends who did go. I would recommend Carr and would love to take another class with him. I learned a lot of things that I think are actually valuable to know, a lot more than I can say for my other classes.

Professor Carr is a great teacher! There\'s a lot of reading associated with the class but if you put in the time and effort it\'ll definitely prepare you for his tests. Also, the practice exams he give out are VERY useful since he ends up putting more than half of them on the tests he gives out. The examples Carr gives during lectures are definitely useful in helping to understand the information. Overall, the class is pretty easy as long as you show up for the lectures and do the reading required for the course. Carr is kind of silly but you can tell he definitely knows his material and cares about students\' understanding of the material as well.

Chris Carr is a great teacher-one of the best at cal poly. He is the fairest teacher i have taken. There is a lot of reading (including practice tests, UR, blackboard) of about 700 pages but because there is so much reading he will be sure to test on the general information. This means his tests are very fair and not tricky. He is not out to get you and instead rewards those who put in the work.

Class required a lot of reading, but the tests were not really difficult. Ended up with a 89.8 and a B+ so Im pretty bitter, but he teaches the class well. Take him if you want to learn the material

Carr\'s just hands-down a good teacher. He has great real-world explanations for most of his material and he\'s very approachable. I\'m sure he gets that 2 hour business lectures kinda suck so we often watched interesting 60 minutes viedoes and he also let us out 30 minutes early about once every other week. Clearly, there will be some people bitching about his tests being hard or saying, \"there was so much reading!\". Obviously. It\'s a business law class, what do you expect? Anyone who fails this clas has to not read the material, fail to pay attention during lectures, or ignore the study questions from blackboard (which make up to 30% of most of our tests!!!). Really, Carr is a fine teacher. Just know you\'ll have to study in order to pass... just like any Poly class.

His Prospector/Patient model is the basis that he refers to every class. He really loves those questions that show that you know the material, yet with one missing element that the question pertains to. He is quite funny in class, offering us many anecdotes and examples with bad puns to teach us the material and tell us about the quote from Henry David Thoreau about \"living the life we\'ve imagined\". He holds a review time before each exam which is very beneficial to those who go, even if they don\'t have questions. His textbook you have to buy is a great book to have around, filled with articles pertaining to the subject, as well as great outlines to study for the exam!

Carr is a strait shooter. His class lectures 200+ people, don\'t expect any personal attention unless you go to office hours. Its roughly 600 pages of reading, the textbook incorporates 4 modules (tests, Non cumulative final btw). Carr presents the lectures in a very to-the-point manner. Unfortunately he lectures the full 2 hours, and will test you on material and videos covered in class time, so you have to attend all lectures to get an A. Carr can be dull at some points, but you have to realize how much material he has to teach. You will walk out of this course (assuming you do half the work) with a pretty good knowledge of all sorts of lawsuits, legal testing theories, and legal methods and advantages of starting your own company. Fun Fact about Carr: After about 3-4 lectures you have a pretty good idea of the exact voice intonation he will use when describing a certain type of case. Take his class if you want to learn.

Carr finds his own jokes hilarious and he is extremely entertaining. He is super nice and is really easy to approach with problems, although he doesn\'t sympathize enough to give extra credit, but take the opportunity to take the extra credit he does offer, he will use that if you are on the brink of a grade higher. Utilize his office hours as well for extra questions, he\'s really helpful in one on one situations. He shows videos during class sometimes that are relatable to the material as well as some off the wall videos that don\'t necessarily key in on the topic at hand. Overall he is very precise in his outlines for the test materials and allowed three by five cheat sheet cards for each exam, front and back, typed or handwritten, however you want to lay them out. Also he doesn\'t persay have a final, just an exam for the last section, each is worth 25% of your grade so you don\'t have to worry about a cumulative final. All in all I loved him!!

Professor Carr was great at teaching the course. He definitely knows what he\'s talking about and can answer any questions you throw at him easily. You have to buy the textbook for the course from a 3rd party (not the bookstore) which unfortunately runs about $90 and can\'t be sold back. The readings online are useless; don\'t waste your time with them. The lectures were alright; somedays I found myself falling asleep (this is business law after all). But he would usually let us out about 15 minutes early. Make sure you go to class to know what the videos he shows are about since he usually asks a few test questions on them. There are four exams, non-cumulative, and each are worth 25% of your grade. Also, remember to do the practice problems online because he repeats a bunch of them on the tests word for word. Getting a B on the tests is easy, getting an A is not. If he presents an extra credit opportunity, take it. I had an 87% average on the tests and I did the extra credit which boosted me up to an A- in the class. Overall a great professor, I recommend him.

Prof Carr was an excellent teacher-knew the material and his class was actually really interesting and enjoyable. If you pay attention and do ALL the practice problems you will do well on his tests..they\'re all very self explanatory. Overall great teacher, and one of my favorite classes fall quarter!

Professor Carr is a great teacher. His subject is already interesting and he manages to make it come alive. There are only four tests and each one is 25% of the grade. If you read the chapter thoroughly and do the study questions there is no way you cannot get at least a B in the class. Not hard at all to get an A just study what he tells you to study, Don\'t miss class to much because he does have accountability questions on each mid term. He gets off topic sometimes but his classes are always memorable.

He\'s happy and knows what he\'s talking about, and he\'s quick to respond to questions via email even the day of the exam. He\'s a little bit arrogant and close-minded, but once you get over that it\'s easy. Exams are pretty easy if you just read what he\'s assigned and go over the practice problems. This class seems really heavy at first because of all the reading, but as time goes on it becomes a pretty straightforward and somewhat easy class.

Carr is tough- he\'ll work you until he feels you should know the material. He doesn\'t go over everything that\'s going to be on the test in class- he\'ll leave that to you to figure out through DOING THE READING. Doing the reading and doing the online practice quizes that he posts are the only way you will pass the class. Also, COME TO CLASS. He has a lot of accountability questions that are no brainers if you come to class. His was probably one of the most informative classes I took- I learned a lot and even make references using law terms frequently. He was really harsh in office hours- make sure you have intelligent questions if you want to ask him; if not, ask a friend instead. He told I needed to learn to use a dictionary- and that was my main motivation to show him I can do better and that I know what I\'m talking about.

Professor Carr was basically 100% full of himself. He talks about himself constantly and sometimes it has nothign to do with what we are learing about, its simply to show off. Basically if it werent for the fact that he put some of the videos he showed in class on the test, i wouldnt have ever gone to class. He gives a lot of examples in his book (which are helpful) and his study outlines are helpful too. but those are all things taht i learn on my own. Also, he gives sample questions for every test which he puts WORD FOR WORD on the test. So definitely look into that. He doesnt expect too much from you, hes just not the best teacher.

Hmm Carr. He's an interesting guy. Definitely meets the lawyer steroeotype. He teaches the class really well but loves to go off on tangents. READ YOUR BOOK! Thats the easiest way to do well on his test. Also do the review questions online they will show up on the test. Be ready for a reading intensive class. Hes lectures are rather boring and really and truly the only reason to go to class is so that you see the vids that he test on. If you have to take this class id probably recommend Carr just cause hes a decent teacher and will reward you with a good grade for hard work.

Carr Is hard as hell but teaches one AMAZING class. I loved every minute of the lectures. You have to read alot and study ALOT but he pretty much hands you the tests on a platter if you study the "practice Questions" this class was so good I am considering Law school. At first I thought he was a bit cocky and the classic lawyer type, but by the end i loved his class. Very interesting class, read everything,study, and ask questions.The tests get progressively harder so watch out. If you wanna actually learn something and take advantage of college....TAKE THIS CLASS. ...but don't be lazy cause you will not do well.

Great class to take. Seemed really intimidating in the beginning, but turned out to be my favorite class so far at CAL Poly. Even though the reading is long, it is really interesting. I got a B+ because I made a lot of dumb mistakes, would have been pretty easy to get an A. Be prepared to do a lot of reading and the practice questions, and attend lectures because of accountability questions. Yes he is a little arrogant, but who cares.

This class was huge! Good luck with raising your hand and asking a question, he will ramble on if you don't interrupt him. Downside, he makes you buy his own outline which is just a bunch of articles thrown together for a fat price. His lectures are only some examples and 2hour talks about his outline. The only grade in the class is the 3 tests. Its a fair class, but not recommended if you are taking 16+ units, BUS 207 with Carr is a time hog. The reading of the outline was usually a hundred pages in two days. And that's just the outline, don't forget about the 30pg textbook readings as well. All in all, very hard class, especially if you have a huge workload and still think you can manage. Also, he repeats things a lot, which can get annoying.

He knew the material and presented a complicated subject in a way that was easy to understand, even for those who were not business majors. He has experience in law and brings his own experiences into lecture. It is a difficult class but if you attend and study the study guides and the practice problems you will do well in the class.

I don't think I have ever learned so much from one class. READING IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS! There is a TON of reading but at long as you get it done before the exam you should be able to get at least a B. Every person that struggled in the class I would ask how they were doing on the reading and they would be like "oh it is too much time and it doesn't even help me" but obviously they are doing something wrong from their grades that they were complaining about. Carr is very smart, organized and professional and teaches for really life situations so this is information that seriously comes up in a conversation at least like once a week for me. So invest the time in this class to get a good grade and learn the material.

Mr. Carr was an AMAZING professor! The class was pretty difficult but he sets you up to pass with his study guides and his study sessions. It's a lot of reading but it is definitely manageable. He does so much extra and I found his lectures to be really interesting. Great class to take and a great professor too!

I am an international exchange student. I was highly surprised by this Professors lack of knowledge about international issues although he told us each class that he was the next Coming of Superman in China. I was very disappointed.

He is a really good professor. There is a great deal of reading and studying, but there is a long yet easy way to pass his class. 1. GO TO CLASS 2. Do the reading 3. Do the practice problems. His class is made up of 4 tests for bus 207, each test will have accountablity questions which are questions about examples or videos from class. The reading will help you further understand the information and is pretty straight forward. Read the articles there are a ton but there will be questions on the midterms about them. Most importantly do the practice questions and master them, a lot of them are the same questions that are on the test and will help you pass. Do these things and you will get a good grade.

Carr was a bit cocky as a professor, but all in all he and the class is definitely one to take. He's a nice guy, leads relatively interesting lectures, and he hands you the tests on a silver platter with his practice problems and his study sessions. It's a hefty amount of work, no doubt, but I think it's easier to get it done knowing that if you do it, you're almost guaranteed to ace his tests because he there aren't any surprises and he really wants you to succeed.

Professor Carr is awesome. People from other BUS LAW classes are struggling, but Carr's class is super easy. As long as you can read, a lot, and do his practice questions (which makes up 1/3 of the exams), you'll be fine. It is a lot of reading, but his tests aren't cumulative and they are all mc and t/f.

I absolutely loved this class, it has been the highlight of my quarter! Professor Carr is an extremely well educated lawyer, and he does a fantastic job of teaching the material. Yes, there is a lot of reading, and yes you have to do it, but if you do it, you will do more than ok on his tests! He really wants his students to do well, he gives you 50 pages of practice problems that are optional and at least 1/3 of the test is made up of those problems! Plus, he writes these study guides that are put into the book which highlight all the important information for you to know. And, if you go to office hours Professor Carr is really helpful. I made a routine of going in to see him before and after every test, to get help on questions before the exam and to go over the questions I missed after the exam. If you put in the time and the effort you WILL succeed in this class!

Although there is a lot of reading, if you complete it all and go to class it will be impossible to get less than a B. Good teacher.

Prof. Carr is great at explaining things. His lectures are both entertaining and informative, just make a habit of going to class and take his suggestion of printing out the slides and taking notes on them. Yes, you do have to read all the assigned readings and the extra chapters that are posted on BB. Also , almost 1/3 of the practice problems appear on test, so study up on those! Overall, great teacher.

This class was amazing! At first, everyone seemed to be evading taking Carr's class because of the reading, but they really missed out! Although the reading IS actually a lot and the amount of pages a day is really terrifying at first, half the pages are articles, and half those article pages are blank. He has 3 midterms and 1 non-cumulative final to make up for reading so much. No pop up quizzes or weird participation points. His class lectures are really interesting and informative. He does an amazing job at explaining every little aspect of the material through his experiences as a lawyer!! Additionally, he has optional practice problems. DO THOSE! 1/3 of the test is made up of those questions!!! Overall, this class was definitely worth the reading; I learned so much in this class, but it took a lot of time. It was worth it.

Professor Carr is a good teacher and does an excellent job of making the material he presents clear to students. Words of advice. Go to class as much as possible. Just because most of the material from the class is just reading out of the book doesn't mean you don't learn anything in class. About 10-15 percent of each test is about material only known to students who went to that specific class. Also, go to his study session before each test if you have any questions at all. And never ever ever miss a test or you will fail.

The one word I can think of to describe Professor Carr is badass. He walks into class every day with a swagger because he knows he's smarter than anybody else in the room. He knows every little detail about business law and when you're done with his class, so will you. Before I took this class, I knew so little about law. Going through that class taught me so much, it's insane. He's always willing to help students and sets aside an extra hour of his time to do a study group the night before the final. If you do your reading and stuff, this class is really easy.

The class i was in was really big, so its hard for there to be a personal level of the class, but he was a good teacher. I read the study outlines in the book and a little bit of the other parts of the book and still got a B+. his class is graded by tests only though, so each one matters a lot. Just follow the book he assigns and you'll be fine.

He helps present the information very clearly and prepares you very well for his exams and gives real life examples along with the theories. However, it is a large lecture and there is not much individual help.

Presents info in a very clear manor and makes the class very interesting. There is a lot of reading but it's interesting so it's not too bad. He shows a 60 minutes video pretty much every class and occasionally says something really stupid like "when you finger her..." Dude's got swag, too. Take him.

Four exams. 75 questions each. No cumulative final. Extremely fast paced class. GREAT teacher, but you cannot afford to skip a day of reading. Here's what worked for me: read UR and online chapters before class. Pay close attention to examples on his powerpoints and videos in class (he has "accountability problems" on the exams). Re-read UR "Study Bibles" and online reading after lecture. Do EVERY online practice problem. Then do them about five more times. Around 20 of the 75 questions come directly from online. It's a difficult class, but if you put in the time to read and do practice problems, there is no reason you shouldn't get a B or higher

There is no reason for you not to be successful in this class. he makes lecture interesting, clear, and informative and while the reading might be a little much, it really pays off. Do all the work and there shouldnt be any issues. Was the highlight of my first quarter at calpoly

Professor Carr was my favorite teacher last quarter. He makes everything easy to understand and relates it to real world experiences. I know more about law now than anyone else in my family, its awesome. You'll be lucky to have him as a professor. Consists of 4 midterms, the last midterm is the "final." None are cumulative, which helps a lot. The only homework was the reading, which could be extensive, but as long as you do it, you should be fine. Go to class too, because some of the questions on the tests are "what we did in class" questions. He also gives practice questions for each exam, and 1/3 of the questions on the tests are straight out of the practice questions. All in all, he sets you up for success

Highly recommended. Grade is based on 4 exams, 75mc each. Questions are directly from lecture, 1/3 practice problems that are posted with solutions or testing a specific concept you can find in the textbook. He edits and writes the outlines in the textbook and its a valuable resource. Go to lecture, do the practice problems, read the book and you'll do fine. Take this class it was interesting and i learned some very valuable things

Best professor I had first quarter. He knows the material like the back of his hand and has no problem explaining it. His class requires some reading, and you need to do it if you want a good grade, but his lectures are interesting, and his advice is sound. He has a lot of experience in this field so you actually care to listen to what he has to say. He will get back to you on any questions you have for him and he is willing to get to know any student who puts the time in to get their foot in the door.

Carr is an excellent professor. He presents the material in interesting ways and keeps you entertained. Not to mention Carr is hilarious! His class is simple: 4 exams. There is a lot of reading, but it is all straightforward. This class is the epitome of you reap what you sow: if you put the work in, you'll do well. Always read the articles and answer the practice problems he gives you - some are on the test word for word! Also, go to class, there are questions on the videos. Highly recommend this class, I really enjoyed it.

While Carr believes he is the fairest professor at Cal Poly with the best policies, I personally found his class unfair. His curve can give you a lower grade than you earned, and the extra credit opportunities are a joke. The class isn't impossible to pass, but it's almost excruciating to sit through a lecture of being talked down to.

I LOVED CARR! His lectures are so interesting, which makes a 2 hour lecture very doable! It is a lot of reading, but if you just do it when you're supposed to, its not much AT ALL. His tests are fair, and usually 1/3 of the questions are word from word practice problems that he gives you. So do them! I really enjoyed him, no complaints !

Far and away, the BEST, most interesting class and professor I've ever had. Business law sounds like it could be excruciatingly boring, but trust me, Carr is hilarious, an awesome professor that not only teaches you the material, but applies it to real life cases and examples. I love business law because of Carr's class. He is very helpful with anything you ask, so go to office hours and email him with any question/interests you have. It is a work intensive class (a lot of reading). Read the whole book and do the practice problems and you'll reap the benefits. Carr, if you read this, you are a complete badass professor. Even though you didn't know me personally 'cause the class was so big, you're definitely the man! Thank you!

Interesting class but avoid if possible. Going to class is pointless aside from 2 or 3 "accountability" questions on each exam, there are 4 exams total. Buying the book is also pointless, me and my friend shared one and the main ideas and concepts you are tested on are in the online chapters. Test questions are very subjective so don't think about which answer is right, think about which answer Carr thinks is right. Some really fun examples during class, it is fun to read his book and point out all the grammatical and spelling errors which there are ALOT, which is funny because he makes such a big deal about good writing, lectures are full of videos and awkward laughs. If anything remember to bring your pick-ax and head-lamp cause if you are taking this class you are now a Prospector and will be reminded of this fact daily.

Professor Carr is a good teacher. He gives you a third of the questions on each test with practice problems that you can do to study. He can take a bit of time to get into the material in the lectures...sometimes he would ramble for the first twenty minutes of class before actually starting on the material. I believe his class is fair and he gives you all the information you need, you just need to study and learn it all. Some of the questions on the test seem subjective but you never really find out because you don't get your tests back and you aren't tested on the same material again. I would recommend taking him. People complain about the reading but it really isn't even a lot...at all. Very manageable class.

Carr is great. I was blocked into his class for my first quarter at Cal Poly, and it was easily my favorite one so far. Yeah there's a lot of reading, but considering that it's technically a type of law class, it makes sense. Carr's lectures aren't too bad, he's easy to approach with questions, and he's pretty funny. Aside from that, he gives you a set of practice problems and study "bibles" to use to study for each test. READ THEM/DO THEM and you're practically guaranteed to do well on tests. His class is interesting and straightforward, which can be pretty rare to find. If you can fit him into your schedule, definitely take Carr.

Whatever you do, don't get behind on the reading. You will NOT want to spend the night before your test trying to catch up on all the reading for the section because it adds up to be at least a hundred pages. Stay on track and read when he assigns it, and spend the night before studying your study bible and the practice problems. Straightforward class, no tricks. He tells you what he expects, so just fulfill his expectations.

Carr is a cocky dick. But it is a good class to take your freshman year. I honestly didn't really study and ended up with a B. The one thing I will say is he's pretty ridiculous that he makes a "new edition" to his book every year that HE WROTE. Such a scam.

Carr is awesome! I really enjoyed his class. Alot of people say he gives too much reading, but get over it because you're in college. He gives out lots of study materials before each test to make sure you are well prepared, and also holds study sessions before midterms to answer any other questions about stuff you are still unclear on. I would definitely recommend taking BUS 207 with him!

Carr is a great teacher, grades for 207 consisted of 4 all multiple choice tests throughout the quarter. Lectures are interesting and he presents the material knowledgeably and thoroughly.

Great teacher. Effectively makes a pretty dry topic (Business law) interesting. Cares about his class and explains things very well. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs to take bus 207 and will definitely take other classes with him later in my career at Cal Poly if I have the opportunity.

I would definitely recommend Professor Carr. His class was definitely a college course, full of lots of reading (you go through a whole textbook that he writes every year) and 4 tests that make up your entire grade. Make sure you do the reading and don't get behind on it. I thought Professor Carr was very good at presenting the material clearly and he really cares about what he's talking about. We had differing viewpoints on a lot of what he was talking about (I'm not a fan of suing unless absolutely necessary and professor Carr was sorta the opposite). Also, he was commending people who found a way to exploit the non-profit status and encouraging us to think outside the box like this. As someone who wants to start a legitimate non-profit I found it almost sickening that someone would do that. Everyone's entitled to an opinion though and I did not involve our differing ones into his rating. He is an excellent teacher and I would recommend him.

Chris Carr is the best. He presents the material as clear as it can get and he is probably the most fair professor you will have. He also uses great, modern examples from articles, YouTube videos, etc. He has 4 exams, 25% each, which makes your final grade. Work hard, stay on top of the reading, study a lot, and ace each exam. I could have got an A, just didn't put as much work as I should have in class. If I could retake the class, I would follow the advice I just gave intensely. The "study bibles" are your ticket to success, when he says "master your study bibles," he's serious, a LARGE portion of stuff in the study bibles is applied on the exams!

A very professional teacher and is serious about the topics but also presents a certain degree of wit and humor. The lecture topics as well the reading assignments tend to be very long and detailed but as long you study the outlines in each chapter and understand the primary purpose of each section, you should be able to do fine. The tests are fairly difficult but the amount of studying you put in is exactly the grade you will get out of it. Don't fall behind on reading! and a good amount of the exam questions are accountability questions to see if you paid attention in class. With such a developed and highly experienced resume that includes prestigious undergraduate and graduate schooling and not to mention he is a lawyer himself, professor Carr is more than competent to present this course not only by textbook knowledge but more importantly through personal expertise and experience.

Professor Carr is an awesome teacher for having to teach a really dry subject. He came prepared everyday to class and tried the best he could to get the material to stick. Saying that, this class is very time-consuming and requires a lot of time outside of class reading the textbook. Almost all information on the tests comes from the textbook and polylearn and there were no surprises. 4 midterms worth 25% decides the entire grade, and I would say each test was progressively tougher. If you have to take business law, Carr is definitely the teacher you want.

He's a very, very good professor. His tests are pretty difficult but you just have to do the course reading, the practice problems (SERIOUSLY DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS!), and actually take time one your 3x5 note card. He gives you everything that you need to succeed in this course, you just have to not be lazy and actually try. And one more thing, fucking do the practice problems.

Professor Carr is very knowledgeable man who teaches students all about law. He effectively connected the content of the class with the real world and used visuals during the lectures to make the subject more interesting. DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS and do the reading. Make sure you make the most out of the notecard as well. Also, make sure you do not fall behind in the reading. Go to his office hours if you need help or you want to review a previous test (which helps).

Professor Carr is very straightforward with what you need for his class. The textbook he makes you buy is annoying because of course he wrote it and you have to buy it from some website (unless you know a friend who took it) and it is a bi expensive ($90). But the book highlights everything you need to know for his tests. You also get to use a 3x5 flashcard on his exams for notes and can cram a lot on there. Everyone complains about the 3rd midterm but that is the one I actually did the best on. Not an easy class to get an A in, but very reasonable to get a B.

I really liked this guy as a person and as a teacher. He is straightforward and doesn't take any BS, which in my opinion is perfect for a business professor. He's been around the block and he knows what he's doing. That being said, DO NOT procrastinate on the reading. If you mess up any of the 4 tests (each test is 25% of your final grade and there's no other work), you're pretty screwed.

Chris Carr is an incredible professor. He presents the material, which being law can get pretty complex, very straightforward and clear. His lectures are also very entertaining due to his personal stories from his experiences as a practicing lawyer. This experience is also very helpful when you have questions and go to his office hours. The reading load can be a lot at times, but if you don't procrastinate it's manageable. About 25% of each midterm will literally be questions straight from the practice problems he posts on polylearn....so do them and thats 25 free points. He also goes out of his way to help students who reach out to him. I went to his office hours to get career advice as I am considering Law school and he was very helpful. All in all Bus 207 was a challengin and very rewarding class, and Chris Carr is the best of the best.

I really liked Carr as a person and lecturer. As many other ratings state, he is clear and provides interesting tidbits. However, if memorizing is not your strong suit I would not recommend him. You can get by, but it will be more work than it's worth. Overall he is a good professor but just something to keep in mind when choosing professors!

Professor Carr is an amazing teacher and a very fair grader. You get what you put into the class and he doesn't try to screw you over at all. Lectures are a bit boring at times, but this stuff isn't easy to teach. He has a sense of humor and interacts with students during lecture which is nice. Reading is a bit heavy at times, but manageable if you spread it out. No extra credit assignments or curves on the test, but if you pay attention in class and do the practice problems you're definitely able to get an A. Another nice thing is that he came to Tenaya to answer any questions students had on the reading and just clarify concepts and terms. He will probably be one of my favorite professors of all time at Cal Poly :)

Carr is an amazing, fair professor with a great sense of humor. He is an experienced lawyer and always uses personal examples to keep class interesting. Do all the work he assigns and you'll have no problem getting a good grade. You're missing out if you don't take this guy!

He is an excellent professor. He is passionate about law, and loves to teach. His book is relatively expensive, but extremely useful(I am a business student and am planning to keep the book for later use in the business world). He provides detailed outlines for each exam, and many examples of legal cases that apply concepts for better understanding the material. If you read the text and study his outlines thoroughly for EACH of the 4 exams you'll get an A. The only reason I received a B is because I barely read the text for my first exam. Overall, he's amazing! I highly recommend him!

Prof. Carr is by far one of the best professors I have had at Cal Poly. He is so passionate about what he teaches, he makes Business Law interesting to learn about. If you do the work you will get an A. Do the practice problems!! He takes 1/3 questions straight off the practice problems for the test.

Good professor with lots of real world experience and an obvious passion for the study of law. He handles a 200 person class very well and has quite a presence in the room (like the lawyer he is). His lectures are interesting, the reading is very time consuming and a little dry. If you read everything and do the practice problems (which are 1/3 of the actual exams) though, you'll be able to get an A in the class

I loved this class. Professor Carr does an excellent job on presenting the material clearly, and is there when you need to ask him questions. There is 4 test for his class 75 questions each multiple choice and matching. You get to have a 3x5 note card while taking the tests and can type in it any information you want. He also gives you a practice exam to study off of. DO THESE practice questions almost to the point of memorizing them because 25 of those questions are on the test and the rest are very similar. He is very straight-forward with his grading so what you get on the tests is what you get on your final grade.

Carr is an amazing teacher. He will assign about 120 pages per midterm but the articles in the book are not necessary to read (there will only be about 2 questions on them). So in all, just memorize 20 pages of outlines and DO THE PRACTICE TEST. Seriously. That saved my life.

Professor Carr is a phenomenal teacher. His lectures are never boring and the class is very straight forward. The material is riveting and truly applicable to our major and our every day life. You will not regret taking his class.

Carr is a great professor. His lectures are captivating and the way he helps prepare students for his midterms are great. He sets aside time outside of his office hours for students to study with him. Highly recommend him!

I cannot reccomend Prof. Carr enough. He is the perfect person to teach this class. He knows the subject extremely well. He also has personal experiences to enhance the learning experiences. The class itself is difficult, but he puts practice problems on PolyLearn. He lectures are completely clear, and are understandable. Plus he usually grades exams the same day, which is nice. The only downside of my experience was that the class was at 8AM

He is a very good teacher. Very passionate about the topic and makes the class very interesting. There are 4 tests which make up all of your grade. The tests aren't difficult if you put the time into reading the book. He has outlines for each section which is mainly what the exams are on. He also has practice problems for every exam which he pulls about 1/3 of the questions on the exam from the practice problems. I would highly suggest him as a BUS 207 teacher. I did get a C but I was fine with that because I didn't work as hard as I could/should have.

Extremely competent and organized as a professor. Carr is brutal on the workload, sometimes expecting 50 pages of notes between classes, sometimes up to 80 on new sections, but all resources are available online from day one. His syllabus has the whole class schedule, homework assignments, and days that he'll host study sessions. The work is hard, but it's up to you to keep up. As a person, Carr is a little bit of what you expect and what you don't expect from a middle aged mid-Western businessman. He's very formal and upfront during his lessons, and self aware, throwing in some self-deprecating humor to liven class up. Lectures are rarely droning as he usually takes a break in the middle of class and has videos in between slides for real life examples of the material we're going over. An outstanding professor, clearly knows how to run a class with tact and efficiency. The work is hard, but he provides enough resources to make it manageable if you put in a bit more effort than usual,

Professor Carr is the man. For an 8am lecture he makes the material interesting and has a great presence in front of a 250 person lecture. Carr gives you many opportunities to succeed in his class by putting outlines in every chapter, allowing a double sided 3x5 notecard on every test, publishing 50 page study guides with answers, and having review sessions the night before the test in Teneya. Carr takes 20-25 questions directly from the study guide- utilize the tools he gives you. There is a lot of reading for his course, but I enjoyed it and found many of the articles to be quite interesting.

If you have the opportunity to take Carr for BUS 207, definitely sign up. For a subject that could easily put people to sleep, he does a good job of keeping the class somewhat lively. There is a lot of reading for the class, but it is manageable. Also, he gives you a big packet of practice problems for each test and 30% of those questions appear on the actual test, so as long as you do the practice questions you should do fine on each test. He doesn't round up grades, which can be a tad annoying (especially when you get a 269/300 and you needed 270 for the A) but in fairness to him, he does allow you to use a notecard on the test and he usually gives a slight curve for each test. If I had to take this class again, I think it would be a no-brainer to take Carr instead of the other professors that teach this class.

Great class and an excellent professor. Carr brings with him to the class a tremendous level of ethos, which gives the content actual value. He is overflowing with knowledge on the subject of business law and he genuinely desires for his students to learn and retain this knowledge. He is reasonable and down to earth, and is very receptive in his office hours-- I wish I would have visited more. Do the practice questions. I should have had an A but I dropped the final pretty badly. The exams are not too difficult but they require you go to class-- which isn't too hard even though it was a MW 8 am. Do the practice questions.

Prof. Carr is incredibly smart, cool, and apt at conveying all the necessary elements of bus law. He's a great teacher if you show up to the lectures. There's a lot of work but I think all Bus law classes are like that. Overall, if you actually want to learn about bus law and don't mind putting in a collegiate level of work, I highly recommend Carr

Very good professor! Definitely knows what he is talking about and a very credible professor. He makes BUS Law (207) entertaining and is always willing to help answer any questions you have. Also a bonus that he hosts study sessions the night before each exam.

If you're a business major, MAKE SURE to take BUS law with Professor Carr. Very knowledgeable lawyer/professor. Cares about his students, not an easy class by any means, but if you invest you will do well. Grading is straight forward, 4 exams (one after each module of the course) each 25% of you're grade. Very interesting, cool, and funny guy and accessible during office hours.

DO THE PRACTICE TESTS AND GO TO CLASS!!! He is so straightforward and tests you on a couple things you learn in class, material from the textbook and questions COPIED from the practice tests. If you literally just do what he says, you will Ace the class (I got a B because I didn't do the practice tests in the beginning of the quarter). He is very fair and I think a great teacher.

Excellent professor. His expectations are very clear and he wants to see his students succeed. The class is comprised of 4 exams. He hosts study sessions before the exams and gives you lots of practice problems.

Carr is a phenomenal professor! Four tests make up your entire grade and everything you will be tested on is in his textbook, no surprises. His textbook is made up of a few pages of notes per chapter and a bunch of articles that are real life examples. I got As on all the tests by reading all of the notes and skimming the articles which you only need to know on a basic level. If you want to do well on the tests, do ALL the practice problems which takes from word-for-word to make up a third of the tests, and they give you a great idea what similar problems will be like. He also let's you bring a note card cheat sheet to each test! I found his lectures very interesting with real life examples and examples of big cases that he worked on himself. He really wants to see students do well and offers a special study session before each test where students can ask any questions they still have about the material. With his condensed notes style of textbook and all the practice problems, I have never felt more prepared walking into an exam than I have for his class.

I highly recommend Professor Carr! He is an amazing teacher and makes the subject so fascinating. If your deciding which professor to take, take Carr! He makes it very feasible to receive an A or B grade.

Just take him. The course itself is hard. I believe it is the first class where I read the textbook cover to cover. It's not as bad as that sounds. He fills it with examples and articles (which are interesting). However, you cannot bullshit this course - it is a lot of hard work. The only thing he requires you to do is the assigned reading, take notes in class, and do practice problems (which, oh by the way, will be 30% of the exams). He's incredible, I loved his lectures. Just take him.

Where do I begin? So, Professor Carr is pretty good at lecturing & showing interesting videos in class that relate to course material. BUT his tests cover so much info--many of his test questions are long & confusing for reasons they should't be. He uses names in the problems that are like 4 names long and sound similar to other ones in the problem. He puts unnecessary distracting information in the questions that make it harder to understand what's actually going on. He always states that he's not trying to trick students, BUT HE DEFINITELY DOES FOR EVERY TEST. So, while he does instruct well, his tests (and practice tests) annoy tf out of me & are pretty unfair. You're expected to read like 10 million pages for each midterm & he also asks unfairly specific questions.

Carr is one of the best, if not the best, professors I've had at Cal Poly so far. He makes a seemingly dry subject engaging and interesting. Carr is extremely clear with his expectations for students, and as long as you follow them, you'll do well. There's no secrets to this class as you may have noticed from all the ratings below. Just do what you're supposed to do and it'll be a great class for you. It's not a hard class to do well in...like, the course material isn't overwhelmingly difficult to understand, you literally just have to put in the time. Don't miss class, stay on top of the reading, ask questions, and do the practice problems. I give my highest regards to Professor Carr and would recommend him to anyone even if you're intimidated by the heavy reading that everyone talks about. I see Carr as a great, wise mentor. Take Carr. 10/10

Professor Carr is one of the best teachers I've had here at Cal Poly thus far. He explicitly states how to do well in this class and that is by reading the book, attending lecture, and doing the practice problems. It's kind of a heavy workload, but I found it to be extremely interesting so I didn't think it was bad at all. Your grade is made up of four exams; exams aren't hard, if you do the work of course. He made lectures enjoyable and interesting. I HIGHLY recommend this course with Professor Carr; he grades fairly, helps students out with any problems, and overall, is a great funny guy. Thanks for a great quarter!

This man is hands down, my favorite professor thus far at Cal Poly. Keeps the material relevant, riveting, and relatable. May initially come across as arrogant, however this supposition is quickly dispelled when you find out he has a ton of credibility and experience in his field of expertise. Very engaging and presented a vast number of outside analogies/case studies to connect to his content.

This was probably my favorite class at Cal Poly. Professor Carr is one of the best teachers I have ever had, I genuinely looked forward to going to class. He organized it so well and made it easy to stay involved even though it was a huge lecture. I read the book front to cover because I liked it, and I never open any textbooks. I am a Political Science major and this class made me sure that I want to do Business Law. Take this class if you can!!!

This entire class is basically the show "Suits" in literary form. Carr is a practicing lawyer who knows the ins and outs of his topic, and provides you with the info, makes sure you understand it, then provides you with readings that tie it all together and gives you examples. The "study bible" is essentially all the info you need to know for the test, and then interesting court cases that are fun to read and have to do with the concepts. Show up to class, do the reading, and DEFINITELY do the practice problems before the test, and you should be just fine. The class is straight forward and you get out what you put in

Highly recommend Carr as a professor. This dude could be making 5x as much money being a lawyer, however he chooses to kick it in his suit with vans giving absolutely no fucks.

Professor Carr is the man. I've never had a teacher with clearer expectations. You can easily get an A- in this class if you attend all the lectures, DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS ON POLYLEARN, and skim over the study bible and examples in his textbook. He's a laid-back guy who makes business law interesting by sharing examples of his own experience as an attorney. If you have to take Bus Law, you should definitely try to get into Carr's class.

This is one of those classes where if you show up to class, do the reading, and take his advice when it comes to studying you will get a good grade. He's a very down to earth professor, but he has no time for BS. If you have to take 207, Carr is the guy

If you can do teach. If you can't teach consult. Perhaps it's time to start consulting Prof Carr. Professor Carr's expectations are unrealistic. He is constantly telling students that he is preparing them for the real world and not the "Cal Poly bubble". In reality he is just making student's lives harder than they need to be.

Carr is by far one of the best teachers I've ever had. He does a great job of laying the whole class out (he plans the whole quarter out before the first day of class) and overall presenting the material for such a hard class. Carr is fair and is quick to give back his tests. We have 4 tests all each worth 75 points that made up our whole grade. If you take his class remember to pay attention in class especially during the videos, read your study bible (i didn't- and thats why I have a C and not a higher grade) and memorize the practice questions-they are about 20-30 questions on the test. I don't see how someone could not like Carr unless they are just a lazy piece of shit. Take Carr!!

Carr is an a great professor. He makes everything interesting and is very clear about what he expects from the class. The exams could be difficult if you don't pay attention to detail, but all of the questions on the exams are fair and he teaches all of the material. The textbook is essentially everything that is on exam and so if you just study and go to lecture then you will be completely fine. This was a very enjoyable class and he was a great professor to have it with.

Really useful class and Carr makes it very interesting. The only grades are 4 exams each equally weighted. No curves, but read what he tells you to read and do the practice problems and then you've got yourself an A.

Chris Carr is an excellent professor and this class is an excellent learning experience for incoming freshmen. I was scared out of my mind entering the class, but as you go along you realize it is much simpler than anticipated. In order to get a good grade all you have to do is read the textbook, show up to class, and do the practice problems. Carr clarifies concepts in class very well and somehow makes business law interesting. I left this class with a newfound interest in the law.

I had professor Carr my first quarter at Cal Poly and it was by far my favorite class. Carr is not only a great teacher who co-wrote a book for the class (which really helps because he inserted articles that give concepts clarity), but he is undeniably funny. There was never a single time I didn't have a good laugh in that class. When learning about all the different types of things that make up Business Law, you watch lots of videos that include: Shark Tank, 60 Minutes, and crazy videos of people fighting (assault and battery.) Your grade only consists of 3 midterms and a final, each worth 25%. If you do the required reading and the practice problems he puts online, it is absolutely impossible to fail this course. Also, for a subject that might seem boring to some people, if you enjoy a professor with a great sense of sarcasm and humor Carr will make the subject a hell of a lot more interesting.

He is a great teacher, and he lets you use an index card on the tests. Just write down all the info on the index card and get a free A.

Professor Carr is one of the best professor at Cal Poly, BY FAR! He knows how to present material well and clear enough that anyone should be able to follow. He literally gives you the information for the test, it is up to you to actually read and do the extra work. Don't let yourself fall behind in the class. It will for sure kick your ass. Easy to do well in the class. He makes each lecture very interesting and interactive as well, so its kind of hard to fail. Definitely recommend!

Somehow this dude manages to be a total boner and the best professor I've had at Poly. He assigns a ton of reading and can be a real hard ass about little things (for example some kids were late to the final and he gave them all a 0 on the test). That being said he makes learning business law very entertaining and I look forward to going to his lectures. If you can handle a decent amount of reading (about 50 to 100 pages a week) I would highly recommend you take Carr.

I was reluctant to take this class at first, but after reading pages of poly ratings for Chris Carr that each affirmed how good of a teacher he was, I decided to take the class. I can confirm that all of his polyratings, even the ones from 10+ years ago are totally accurate today. This is probably the simplest class breakdown ever. 4 exams that are equally weighted at 25% of your grade, and that's it. It is a little scary but better than having to do a bunch of pointless homework assignments in my opinion. He is the most down to earth and knowledgeable professor I have had at Cal Poly. He knows what is talking about, and while some of the material is mundane, he does his very best to apply it to things relevant to his students/things happening in the world. Very good about clarifying things that may be confusing and is very efficient with his time, he doesn't spend time talking about anything you don't need to know/tangents. However, beware, this class requires a sizable about of work/time if you are looking to get an B or above. The book he has you get for the class is thick, and you read all of it. I would say on average there's about 50 pages of reading per each class. If you are taking a heavy quarter and are looking to do well in this class, maybe take him a different quarter. I am going to get a B and have spent multiple hours prepping for each of his tests. Overall a great guy and a useful class, just be willing to put in the work if you want to see results.

Its been about a month and Carr is a great professor. If you do the reading, attend class, look over practice problems and just pay attention, you will find the tests fair. He wants you to succeed, and he is challenging, but it prepares you.

Dr. Carr is one of the best professors I've had outside of my major. (I'm animal science but this counts as an elective for me). I felt like coming into this class with zero knowledge of business or law or any combination of the two, that I would have a really difficult time with this class, but Carr made it super simple. He does assign A LOT of reading but his books have outlines, and even I was able to keep up with most of it whether I actually stayed on track with the syllabus or crammed two nights before the exams. He makes you buy a specific book for his class, that at first I was a little salty about, but I realized he does it so that he can control exactly what materials he wants to put on the exam. He is one of the most fair teachers I've experience at Poly in terms of what he puts on his exams. He only ever puts questions on the test that come DIRECTLY from the reading, from in class lectures, or the practice problems he provides for each exam. Just do the work and show up to class and you'll be perfectly fine. The only reason someone wouldn't do well in this class is if you don't show up honestly. He puts a lot of "accountability" questions on the exams that make sure you attend class. For instance he'll say in a question "In one of our lectures we watched a video with a bunch of frat guys who got sued for sexual harassment and lost." True or false? And if you went to class every day, you'll get them all right. He was super accessible and even hosted group review sessions every night before the exams which helped a ton. He was actually able to get me interested in a subject that I otherwise would have never given two shits about. Carr is a boss.

Professor Carr's class is difficult, but rewarding. This is a heavier work load course, but he is an excellent professor. He is funny, engaging, and a great speaker. He is a fair grader, and doesn't try to trick you. You will get a grade that is representative of the work that you put into his class; If you really try hard, you will get an A. if you don't, don't be surprised if you get lower.

While a lot of people didn't like Carr or thought he was an asshole, I honestly found him to be the perfect teacher for this class. He is a super blunt guy, and some people take offense to the blunt things he says, but he was a corporate lawyer and that is exactly the personality type of someone who works in such a competitive industry. Yes, the class was hard with a lot of reading and LOTS of details to memorize, but I strongly believe Carr gave all the resources anyone could need to do well in the class. He gives the powerpoint ahead of time, gives more details of the information from the powerpoint in the textbook, gives tons of practice problems (of which he takes questions straight from the practice test and puts them on the actual test) and is open for office hours. He does have a tendency to go on tangents in class though. He also asks stupid accountability questions that you would only get if you were in class/did the reading and also doesn't put anything in the grade book except the tests, so if you don't do well on them you're kind of fucked. Ultimately, I still enjoyed and found his class super interesting and probably could've gotten an A if I spent more time studying the practice problems

Professor Carr is AWESOME. By far one of the best professors to have as he is super consistent with what he expects out of his students. While the class itself is hard and the material may be hard to understand, Carr does a pretty good job helping students understand what he is talking about. To be successful in his class you are definitely going to have to read his study bible and do the practice questions and if you do that you are guaranteed a passing grade. Also don't skip his classes, he'll throw questions on his tests about the material presented in class. Also, all his tests are equally weighted at 25% and that is the only thing in the grade book in his class.

People may complain about Carr's class being difficult, but he is a very fair professor. His lectures are interesting and he uses lots of examples to clarify some of the more difficult concepts. If you expect to get an A for just showing up and doing minimal work, you will be disappointed, but if you pay attention during class, read the book, and do the practice problems, you will have no problem. There is a lot of work involved, but the tests are usually curved and all the material has been covered in class and in the book. Doing the practice problems is extremely helpful because he will put some of them word for word on the real test. He also has a study session before each test where he will answer questions. The grade is based off of only test grades, but he also offered some extra credit at the end of the quarter. It's a very reasonable class with clear expectations and the content is actually very interesting too.

Carr is an amazing teacher but the class is somewhat hard if you don't like to read. Carr practiced law which made him a super effective teacher in terms of retaining the information. You need to do all the readings and go to class because all the tests had accountability questions. There was a ton of reading. YOu need to buy a book about 400+ pages, and he makes you do about 150 pages of online reading. Other than the readings, I really learned a lot in this class and had a good time.

Professor Carr is a great professor! He is very clear on what is required to succeed in his class. There is a lot of material to read, but if you stay on top of it, you will do just fine. I went to his office hours several times, and he was very helpful. Don't expect him to give you points back on the exam. He is very strict with his grading. For the exams we had to use special scantrons that are only sold in the bookstore. A fellow classmate used the wrong scantron, and Professor Carr gave her a "0" on the exam--which was worth 25% of the grade. It was completely the student's fault for using the wrong scantron. Professor Carr was EXTREMELY clear that we had to use a specific scantron, and the student simply ignored his instructions. COVID-19 broke out during the quarter, and the final was cancelled. Professor Carr was very generous and gave everyone 8 extra points on their overall grade. The one negative thing I have to say about Professor Carr is that he swears quite a bit in lecture. I wish he would be more professional and abstain from swearing in front of the class. Besides that, he is an awesome teacher! Work hard, go to his office hours, do ALL the practice problems, do the readings, and you will do great!

Carr is a great teacher! Best one I had in my first quarter as far as explaining and making a difficult subject understandable. I had never had a law related class but Carr made this really fun and clear. There is a bit of reading and the grade consists of 4 exams only, so you have to read, attend class, and doing the Practice Problems is a must. If you do all of that you can get an A for sure. Loved this class

Best teacher I've had at Poly.

Professor Carr is awesome. There are 4 exams - very VERY fair! 1/3 of the questions are from the practice problems and a few are "accountability" questions which are SO easy if you just go to class. He does assign a lot of reading, but I barely read any of it and I got an A because I went to his classes. He is such a great lecturer, all you really have to do is go to class and pay attention, which isn't so hard because he makes everything so interesting. He does like to stroke his ego a little but he really cares about his students and wants you to succeed more than anything. I couldn't recommend him enough.

This was a unique course because we studied the international supply chain for 10 weeks and then actually went to Shanghai over spring break. The class is comprised of lectures, guest speakers, lots of reading and videos to watch, pop quizzes, a book review, and an all-encompassing case study. I recommend starting the book over Christmas break (people tend to put it off until the last minute) because then you'll be able to crank out the book review quickly and early. Carr is more than qualified to teach this course. You learn a ton about the supply chain and China, and you get to experience an excellent trip with your peers. It was definitely worth the money, and I HIGHLY recommend taking this course.

Good teacher for this course. I liked the integration of his previous work experience into the class. I learned sooo much. This is a challenging class that I will take a lot from.

professor carr is an exceptional teacher and one of the hardest working people i have ever seen. you can also tell he reads every thing he can get his hands on. he always brings in stuff from that days wall street journal or the los angleles times that related to what we were studying. there was not one class where i was bored or tired of the information we talked about. i was lost on some class material we covered and i went in during office hours and he took over an hour to help explain it to me until i understood it. he is one of the few people here at poly who i have found would do that for a student. but be darn ready for his exams and study for them as they are hard and challenging. and i agree that the man is a total hottie which is a big bonus if you take him.

Really cool teacher. Really down to earth and very interesting lectures. A lot of reading though. Be ready. There is a whole lot of info. to learn. Do not miss any classes. As long as you keep up with the work, a very good class and teacher.

If you are interested in the law and legal issues, Carr is your man. He might be the best teacher I've ever had, despite the way he comes off as being somewhat arrogant sometimes. Regardless, he is a really cool guy, class was never boring, lectures were always structed, informative, interesting, and clear. I had to study hard on CONCEPTUAL ideas, but that's about it. Read the cases, learn the concepts, and you'll get an A that you feel good about.

Okay, Carr is definately hot for a professor... but more importantly, he's fun. His lectures and class discussions are interesting and valuable (even though I had a total attention hog in my class - you know who you are baldy). There are easy quizzes, if you did the reading, and the tests are challenging without being tricky or impossible. He brings in current newspaper articles that relate to the cases in the book and is very willing to hear his students' opinions. That little red book is your lifeline! If you don't read anything else in the entire class, read that red book and the cases out of the text, and you'll do fine!

I cant say that I have learned that much from many of my classes here but I really liked this one and learned alot and it was at 7 in the morning. Carr is an upfront dude and will tell you what you need to know for his exams so listen up to what he says in class. He also uses real life eaxmples that I could relate to, class discussion was a blast and he is open to questions differing views and even criticisms. He really cares about students. I totally recommend him.

I thoroughly enjoyed his class and it was great to finally have a professor at this school who gives a shit. If you want to do well make sure you buy the reader for the course and study it.

Chris Carr is an awesome guy! I was lucky enough to be placed on board for the International Career Conference Senior Project, and I have to say that it has been probably the best academic experience I have ever been through. Chris has the leadership to get you on the ball, but the leeway to not input too much, but rather get YOU thinking aobut how things should run. If I were here any longer, I would love to take a course from him. I heard he is pretty tough in class, but you know it's only cause he actually teaches!! And...forces you to apply yourself & learn!
