Dr. Breaux is the BEST recitation teacher! She explains stuff so clearly and says, "this will be on the test" (which is very useful). I highly reccomend taking her for your recitation. Oh, and her students' averages on the tests was higher than everyone else.

Dr. Breaux is an extraordinary teacher. Go out of your way to get this class. She explains everything in a clear, thought out, and logical way. She clarifies everything that is taught in the lecture, and gives good advice when studying for the test. She is there to answer any questions, and will give extra help of you ask her. The best teacher for this course hands down.

Dr. Breaux was a really nice professor. She was really easy to talk to regarding a test. She spends the time to go over the answers with you during her office hours so that you can understand what you are getting wrong and what you need to work on. Her resitations are basically a in depth review of the lectures in the big lecture hall and she will add in her two cents every here and there. There is no homework in her class but she does want you to take notes how she writes them up on the board. She makes sure that you know what will be on every test and then give a quiz after the review but the quiz is pretty easy and you can use your notes. Overall she is a pretty good teacher.

She is a GREAT teacher. Makes concepts sooo clear it's amazing! I had her for my recitation and it was great! She clarified anything I didnt understand in the main lecture. Keeps your interest while lecturing well, and she gives 3 quizzes worth 5% of your grade each that are open note and book and are simple! She definetly wants to help you pass the class. Take her for recitation, she's GREAT!

Dr. Breaux is awesome, she is very nice and she wants all of her students to do well. She tells you what you need to study for the test and she isn't boring at all. The only problem are here quizzes. There are 3 quizzes worth 10 points each. They are pretty easy except that there are no extra credit questions. Katie Nierdhardt teaches the same recitation class and students got 15 out of 10 points on their quizzes, that had to help a lot in a class that has a total of 200 points.

Wow, Dr. Breaux is a great professor. I wish all of the professors at this school knew how to teach as well as her. She really cares about her students and loves the course material, meaning that this class was great to attend. She gives three open-note quizzes in recitation. If you take notes and/or read the textbook, getting a 9/10 is very easy. She will give credit for the most-missed questions on the exams if she didn't discuss the specific topic in her class, which helped me get an A- instead of a B+. If you can, take Dr. Breaux's recitation. It is well worth it!

Cynthia, What can I say about this Professor, she was incredibly mesmerizing, but how can you pay attention in class when the teacher is so beautiful. There should be a law against being so damn attractive and being in a position of power. Not to be the a**hole guy, but Cynthia, I mean Dr. Breaux, you are the hottest professor I have ever had. I am not a desparate college punk. I am an intelligent engineering student with an actual personality. I am very attracted to mature women; however, many women do not take me seriously. Cynthia, I am starting to ramble, but I really want to see you again in a more social environment. Orf-dizzle...

Ok. She isn't as great as everyone makes her out to be. Her reviews for the exams are very general. So general that she might as well not even write them down on the board for us to copy since we pretty much know we're gonna be tested on that material anywayz. Also she offers no extra credit like some of the other psych teachers. She's good but she ain't the "best teacher I've ever had at Poly"

Dr. Breaux was great! She was so nice and helpful--you could tell she really wanted everyone to get the best grade possible in the class. She thoroughly explained everything and gave great examples so that it was easy to see how the material applied to real life and to the field of psychology. I have heard that her students tend to get higher grades than the other recitation instructors'. I believe it--she explains everything so well, and creates helpful ways to help memorize the material that will be on the tests (and she tells you "Know this. It will be on the test"). If you can, take Dr. Breaux for PSY 202 and any other class that she is teaching. She's an awesome teacher.

The point of taking the recitation section is that it aims to help you memorize the material better for the tests. Dr. Breaux accomplishes this very well. It is quite easy to get an A in the recitation part of the class because all her quizzes are open note. I also must say that it does help having a VERY attractive teacher... some of us need a little more motivation to come to class then others. That being said, she was a very good teacher.

Dr. Breaux is one of the nicest ladies ever. She presents intersting material and really applies what you learn in lecture in her recitation. There are a few open note quizzes (about 10 questions each) and no homework. She helps you prepare for the midterms well. She's really great! Definitely take her!

I definitely recommend Dr. Breaux, her students statistically do better than most of the students in other recitations. She did everything in her power to make sure everyone understood everything. We only met once a week for the recitation, but it was SO helpful, and she offers extra credit(essentially) if you go to class every week. She's a practicing psychologist (not all of the profs are) so she gives examples sometimes from real cases, which is really interesting. She's a great communicator, Psy 202 is a really fun class and pretty easy if you study the material online and take the practice tests.

Awesome proffesor, she would tell us terms to study for the test and what points of the lectures were important. She would prepare us for the test by giving us easy quizzes. If u get a chance, try to take breux because her students score the highest on tests, my problem was that i had too many courses and I really didn't study, except for the last test, i spent about four days studying for that test because I needed a C. The lectures are sometimes boring but they are very cool at the same time. At least go to ryujins lectures because his are hillarious

Good teacher. I just didn't really like her because I felt she treated us as if we were in junior high, but I often feel alone with my expectation for college level courses... Anyway, she looks at the tests and tells you the recitation beforehand the most important topics to cover and the details she covers in class are always relevant and important. I didn't have the book, but you can study most of the material from the website. I put next to no time into this class and it was an easy B. A couple more hours of studying and an A would probably be easy enough to pull off.

Dr. Breaux is one of the most forward professors out there. What do I mean by that? She outlined on the board what we REALLY needed to know from the big lecture--no fluff necessary. She always gave study hints of things that would, most definitely, be on the tests. The great thing is, I really feel like I learned a lot in this course. Sure, I wanted the A and like her teaching style as a means to get that, but I still LEARNED something. This is why Dr. Breaux was a great professor. She had quizzes that really are grade boosters if anything. In addition, there were plenty of opportunities for extra points. Those can really add up so don\'t hesitate! She also made a point to draw diagrams as well as verbally explain things, which I think is awesome if you have a different learning style. You\'d think more PSYCHOLOGY professors would do that... If you\'re taking PSY 202, do yourself a favor and take her for Recitation; you wont regret it.

Dr. Breaux was definitely one of the best professors I've had at Cal Poly; not only was her class very easy and straightforward (as long as you showed up) she's very caring towards her students. I had my registration rotation at the same time as one of the midterms for the giant lecture hall and she worked it out so I could bring my computer and register for classes before I took the test, so she's very understanding. Her quizzes were very easy; she basically goes over everything the day of the quiz and allows you to use your notes, so as long as you pay attention and show up, you'll get 10's on every quiz. Her exercises were also very interesting and helped supplement the lecture/book reading. I highly reccommend taking her for recitation.

This course has been the most helpful in helping decide my career. I think this course should be mandatory for all Psychology and Child Development Majors. This class breaks all the possible fields you can pursue in Psychology. You learn a lot about Grad School and really opens up your eyes if you really want to pursue a Ph.D or a Masters Degree. Her exams are not difficult at all if you keep up with the reading. She is a fair grader and really cares about all of her students. She has guest speakers from a variety of fields such as a Social Worker, Grad Students and Clinical Psychologist. I really recommend this class if you are not sure what you want to do after you graduate from Cal Poly and if you want to learn more about the application process for Graduate School

Dr. Breaux is a wonderful lady and her class was enjoyable. Probably one of the easiest PSY classes I've had at Poly....maybe a little TOO easy :) The first half of the class helps you to explore your options for graduate school and careers with a PSY degree from Poly. Lots of helpful info about applying to grad school and what you're in for. The second half of the class was mostly guest speakers, people from the community who came in to talk about their careers and grad school experience. Just come to class and participate and Breaux will love you. There's no text, one midterm, one final, a few easy assignments (like pick your top 5 grad schools and explain why). I highly recommend this class!!

Dr. Breaux is such an awesome teacher! i took her for abnormal psychology, which is a really interesting class. she loves the subjects covered, which makes the class that much more fascinating. when she's lecturing she writes everything you need to know on the board, so taking notes is a breeze. Her tests are straigtforward and are a combo of lecture notes and book readings (she also give a very comprehensive study guide for every test). also in lectures she always has the most interesting video tapes to show examples of all of the types of disorders covered in class. going to lecture would be worth it just to see these. she's also a very nice person who is easily approachable, and she offered extra credit options! it was very easy to get an A in this class, but more importantly, i learned SO much. Not only one of the best teachers at this school but one of the nicest people ever. She is so genuine and she totally cares about her students. And the field of psychology, which is something she knows a lot about. Not only is she very knowledgable about psychology, she is very good at explaining things so that they make sense and are relevant. The tests ask you to know very detailed information and she wants you to be able to apply what you have learned, but if you went to class and paid attention (which is not difficult because her lectures are so engaging) you should be able to do fine. Also, she lets you replace a test with a presentation if you don't do as well as you wanted to. Very cool and nice. I can't say enough about this teacher. She is so kind and such an amazing teacher. Dr. Breaux was one of the best teachers I have had in a long time. She was very understanding and flexible with students' schedules. Given that I am a psych major and happen to want to specialize in some aspects of abnormal psych, I realize that I definitely have a biased opinion. The point is, however, that Dr. Breaux is a genuinely nice person, and she really tries to teach material and relate it to students in such a way that her students will relate to the lesson and hopefully find it interesting. Even if you don't take Psy 405 with her (which is a fascinating class, by the way), take Psy 202 RCT with her or another class of hers. She is just a great teacher overall.

Dr. Breux is very through with her lectures, but make sure you read the text , it is a really esay read and very detailed. Her tests are directly pulled out of the lectures and readings. If you read all the chapters before the lectures and take notes from the book, you will most definately get an A. She also gives you amazing opportunities for extra credits. I did a presentation on a topic that she does not cover in class, and it helped my grade a lot. TAKE THIS CLASS. Dr. Breaux is an exceptional professor. She is an engaging lecturer and truly wants her students to succeed. In this class, your grade is made up of 2 midterm exams (each exam is 50 points), a noncumulative final (50 points), and weekly homework assignments (50 points). In addition, Dr. Breaux offers up to 7 points of extra credit, as well as an option to do a replacement paper or presentation (this will replace a poor midterm score). The midterm exams consist of 40 multiple choice questions and 2 short essay questions. The multiple choice questions come directly from lecture material and the essay questions come from the study guide she provides. For the final, it is simply 50 multiple choice questions covering the last third of the class. If you take thorough notes during the lectures, the exams will be a breeze! It is not necessary to buy the book to get an A+ in the class. She does not post the full lectures online and she takes attendance, so it IS imperative to go to class daily. As for the homework--it is simply answering a few questions related to lecture! She grades the homework and free response on the exams very leniently. TIPS FOR GETTING A GOOD GRADE: allot ~2 days to review for each exam, study with a classmate and go over class material, do NOT buy the book, remember to submit the homework every Friday, and email Dr. Breaux if you have any questions/concerns.

I really enjoyed this Abnormal Psych class. I took this class while at community college, but it did not transfer so I had to retake it at Cal Poly. There were 3 exams, all non-cumulative and weighted equally, and 7 weekly homework assignments. Professor Breaux has years of professional experience as a therapist which really added to the class because she gave us practical information that the textbook could not provide. However, due to the quarter system, she was forced to leave out some of the disorders which I felt were important in my previous Abnormal Psych class. To make up for this, students were given the opportunity to do a presentation on a disorder that was not covered in class to replace a lower test score. Some of the students did a great job presenting the material, but some of the presentations were truly awful and I felt like I missed out on some potential great information. We were also tested on the student presentations during the last exam which kind of sucked because the material was presented so quickly, and in some cases terribly. But overall that class was great and I would absolutely take it again with Dr. Breaux.
