Dr. Florez-Duquet is an excellent professor, my favorite so far. Everything that she lectures on is on the test....I didn't have to open the book once. She gives fabulous study quides and holds study sessions before each exam. Her tests were all short anwser and fill ins, with a couple true and false. This class is not easy, but if you try you will do well. She is extremely helpful in office hours and is quite approachable. I would recommend her with no questions asked.

awsome proffessor who knows her stuff and is very willing to help you. She reallly wants you to learn, and will do all in her power to help you. This class does require a lot of studying and good notes. The tests are not pie, you should take the SI class with it. AWSOME CLASS, i loved it!

Overall I would say she's an above average teacher. She provides terms lists, website links, and lecture outlines on black board which are really helpful. If you take a class from her you MUST print out the lecture outlines before class because she tends to talk a mile a minute and you will to get lost. Make friends in class so you can get info on what you miss. Her quizes are ok, we had a couple of them but my best score was a 2.5/10 (I didn't really study for them). Watch out for her tests- they suck. She tests you on EVERYTHING she goes over in lecture. The tests are T/F, fill in the blank, and essay. If you can't devote a lot of study time for one of her classes don't take one. She's really approachable if you don't understand something, she won't make you feel stupid. You will definately learn in her class.

Good teacher. Throw the book out the first day... you rarely use it. To get a B in the class, make note cards directly for every single lecture covered and memorize them. I would take her again...

Florez-Duquet made what could have been a very boring class interesting. She was very organized in her lectures and made the information you needed to know clear. If you were having trouble in the class she very open to meeting you and helping you find a better way to study. The tests are hard but if you study her lecture notes you will do fine. I didn't really use the book at all. She tries to make the information more interesting by involving more controversials into the lecture. It is a hard class but worth the effort

Florez-Duquet is a good prof and I learned a lot in her class. There's just a few things that will make the class a lot easier. First, she posts her lecture outlines online before every class, so print them out, go to every class, and take notes. She pretty much posts everything you need to know, but with blanks missing. You have to fill in the blanks as she lectures. I didn't know that, and so I missed a bunch of stuff. Second, her tests are pretty specific, but all you need to study is those notes you printed out and filled in in class. Practically memorize those few pages, and you have an A or B on the tests and quizzes. Don't bother reading the book, but you might wanna buy it anyway, cause you'll need the diagrams and pictures of bodily processes and anatomy for both lecture and lab. All in all, once you get how her class works, this is one of the easiest Bio classes you can take to fulfill your GE requirement, from what I've heard from friends about the other Bio classes available.

Professor Florez-Duquet os avery good teacher. Her lectures were actually interesting. I didn't buy the required book, or even once look in anyone else's, and I got an A in the class. You seriously don't need it because she won't test you on anything that she doesn't cover in class. She types out the outline for each lecture, which is very helpful because you can listen instead of worry about getting everything written down. There's no assigned homework, just regularly study the lectures. I didn't put too much time in this class, but I still did well.

This professor is AWESOME!!! it was such an organized class and if you put the time into studying her notes, then you will do well. there are 3 midterms and no final. She is great and i wish that all teachers were as good as good as her! Take her!!!!!!!!!!

Very hard class, but very good teacher. Just be ready to spend all your time on this class. You can't slack off cuz there's a quiz or test pretty much every week. It's way intense. A lot of memorization. But Dr.F-D does a good job making things clear. There are card questions that completely will stress you out where she asks you a question in front of the whole class worth about 5 points. You will get 2 of these and 3 in lab. I would recommend her though she is extremely anal! You must say the exact thing she wants to hear or else the answer is wrong. Oh, and all her tests are fill-in and essay and spelling counts. But, overall, good teacher, stressful class.

She made her tests right off the class notes. She is very clear on what she wants oyu to know. All you need to do is make flashcars and stay insink with getting them done and knowing them for her card questions.(those are 5-7 questions asked in the beginning of class that are worth 2.5 points each and you get two). I thought it was a hard class, but realy it was just time consuming.

Dr. FD is the coolest. Before I took the class many people warned me of her being really strict and hard. I think she's one of the nicest teachers at Cal Poly, and really does care about the student learning the material. I think the people who criticize her suck in the class and take their anger out on her. If you have to take this class, try to take it with her, because she rules.

Maria is a tough teacher, but she knows her stuff. She is easy to talk to and very willing to help you understand the material. But this class is very demanding. Plan on spending hours of studying each night-otherwise you will be lost and not succeed in her class. The tests are mainly derived from her lectures, but you will not understand them unless you are in class. The book is only useful for explaining diagrams and doing homework. Although she is a tough teacher, she is probably the best teacher for this course.

First of all, understand that the material for ZOO 331/332 is demanding. No matter who you take, the high volume of information can get overwhelming if you slack off even just a little bit. F-D is the best teacher for this class because she is incredibly organized and based on the posted Blackboard lecture outlines, she tells you every thing- down to the last detail- of what you need to know. The thing that stresses people out is that you have to memorize SO much information and the cumulative final is a scary thought. She is nit picky over spelling and details, so keep this in mind as you answer 18 point essay questions on the exams. Basically, memorize the lecture outlines and make flash cards for everything! For lab, answer each lab objective and question on your own because these are the concepts she'll test you on for lab exams. Study everyday!
