He knows his stuff, but I didnt care much for this guy as a professor. I know he means well but he tends to make you feel like an idiot when you make a mistake. I know safety is important, but I think I learned more ways of how to cut my finger off than i learned about good machining practice. Ex navy type that wont respect your point of view. Intimidating and a hardnose. Needs to be a bit more sensitive towards his students...unless you are a female..then he acts all nice and sweet...puleeze!

I didn't particularly agree with the earlier evaluation on Ken Brown. I liked his class very much, and everyone else in the class seemed to have a good time, too. He is very strict on safety, as he should be. Most of the people in this class have never used machines before, and he's seen his fair share of accidents. As long as your cautious, not afraid to ask questions(him and his TA do a great job answering them) and act interested to be there, you'll do well in the class. Your grade is almost solely based on passing the lecture final and doing a good job on the air motor. I suggest making it look nice (paint it, it looks good) and you'll be walkin out of there with an A.

Brown is good...but like someone before...he will make you feel like an idiot if you mess up. At first I didn't like him...but by the end I enjoyed his sense of humor and his enthusiasm for the class. He was biased towards girls...but i think its just because he hardly ever has them in his class.

Every student should take a class from this guy. He loves to teach and it is evident in the class. He lets you have a lot of fun in the lab as long as you act in a safely manner. The air motor is totally cool, but you will never beat his. I wish I could take more classes with this professor.

Ken Brown is absolutely the best teacher at Cal Poly or anywhere as far as I am concerned. I have never learned more from a teacher or met anyone on this campus who cares more for students, then Ken Brown does, It is truly a shame that he doesn't teach more classes. It is easy to get an A in his class as long as you follow the rules, and not because you dont have to work, he just makes sure that you figure it out by helping you or having someone help you. You will have a great time in class and look forward to going each week. If only every teacher at cal poly were like him we would be so much better off. Ken Brown is the best w/ out question. Just remember to follow the safety rules and have fun and you will get along great.

ken is a great guy, great teacher, and knows how to teach required material in an interesting and effective way. He and i had friendly debates over what brand of pick-up was better (chevy vs. ford), and he is easy to talk to on a personal level. take his classes, he knows what hes doing, and is not afraid to be honest with his students. I look forward to having him as a teacher again soon!
