This is the first C I have recieved in my entire life. I hope that says something to all of you out there watching their GPA. Do not take him--this class was a nightmare!

Dr. Berrio did a great job in teaching statics. However, there are a few things he could have done better. For instance, giving only 2 tests in a quarter to decide someone's grade I do not believe is enough. He could have given some quizzes or something. You are only allowed two absences as well. Anymore and he starts deducting points off your grade, which as I already stated is based on only 2 tests. Then there was the calling of roll by major. Beware: he loves to flag ARCE's. Oh and how can I forget that you have to include your major on your exam. What's the reason for that. For all I know he grades the tests by major and then scales each. AND FOR YOUR INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE MAJORS, YOU HAVE TO TAKE ARCE 221 and ARCE 222, because we (ARCE's) have to take all your stupid architecture classes. To sum up, if you want an amusing, comical man who adds flavor to his classes take Berrio if you're a non ARCE major.

Dr. Berrio is a great professor. He bases his grades on a midterm a final and some homework. If you do your homework, you will be in great shape, since all the problems on the tests are from the homework. Also, pay attention to his examples in class: they are modified homework problems. If you learned math and physics best by doing problems over and over, then this is a great class to take. The exams are pretty easy, and if you do better on the second exam he will give it double weight in your final grade. I think that Dr. Berrio's many years of teaching arce have allowed him to change his teaching style to fit students and classes best. He really knows how to teach.

This is by far the best teacher i have had at Cal Poly. I am glad I took this guy for a beginning ARCE class. He explains the material in great detail, which help you understand the whole concept. He has two midterms and a final. He gives about 6 to 7 problems for homework which is 20% of your grade. Oh and if you want to impress this guy alot, if you have a Norwegen last name, find out what it means. If you dont he will tell you on the first day in class.

Dr. Berrio is a very amusing professor. He's full of little jokes during class, but also really teaches well. He's very knowledgable and really helpful in office hours. I recommend him highly he's a great guy

Berrio is great! It a shame that he is retiring, I would take him for any class you can while he is still teaching. He graded a little easy, but you'll come out of the class knowing your stuff. Berrio was definately one of the funnest teachers in the department. Absolutely take him if you can!

I'm going to have to disagree. Yes he's a nice guy, and yea, he's funny and knows the material, but when students have problems on homework, he refuses because there's not enough time, and then he goes on to take role for like 20 MINUTES!! Making jokes and wasting time. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for jokes, and a fun teacher, but Berrio seems like he doesn't care about the teaching anymore. Its all about the jokes, oh, and how dynamics is SO EASY.

Well, he does make lectures more entertaining that you might think possible for a dynamics course. You might even be so entertained that you don't realize how little you've learned. Realistically your better off to learn from the book, but DON'T MISS ANY lectures, as Berrio takes roll and it factors into your grade in a big way. Also, buy to book; cheaking it out several times a week didn't give me enough study time.

beware this Lilliputian from hell! He is a relatively easy-going old man when you first start his class, and he may even make you laugh enough so you don't realize that you are learning nothing. His atrocious accent and innate ability to talk and draw diagrams for an entire hour while not make any sense, makes his class a complete waste of time. And take heed yee who misses one class. Four other students and I had to go on a field trip with another class (one that was worth 5 units, not just 3) and we had to miss the midterm. this leprechaun of satan made us turn in hand written explanations of why we were not going to be there for the midterm, he threatened to fail us on the spot, and refused to talk to the other teacher, even when that teacher made his own attempts at mediation of the conflict. When we took the make up final it was 12 questions (instead of the 5 that the original midterm had), it was 20 times harder than the original midterm, and it covered topics that were not in any of his lectures, were not in the book, and when we asked him about the answer after we turned in the test he refused to explain. He is very angry and holds grudges. do not take this man if you want to learn or if you do not want to verbally assaulted by a 4'9" munchkin. But if you end up with him and this happens to you, don't worry, I know where he parks his car...
