Berringer, Burton  

If you can read the book to learn your math just fine, his tests are really easy. They are 20 questions, 18 multiple choice and 2 free response which are generally pretty easy as long as you do your homework. When students ask him the problems that they didn't understand from the homework, He isn't able to figure out how to get the right answer. Apparently he has issues with basic math concepts like adding, subtracting, mult., and dividing. He's a nice guy, just not the sharpest tool in the shed. If you are looking for an easy A, take this class!

This was the WORST math class I have ever taken. I never understood what he was doing, I used to just count how many times he messed up answering students questions with tally marks to pass the time. I eventually realized I learned more when I didn't go to class and studied alone. I got a D on each of my midterms and aced the final, but apparently that wasn't enough proof that I understood the material cause he still gave me a C. I didn't think he was very fair and I would recommend NEVER to take this class!!

I had Berringer my quarter here at Poly and I thought he was great. He explains things very well and has a good "old guy" sense of humor. He doesn't collect the assigned homework, but make sure that you can do the problems reasonably well for the exams. His tests(multiple choice) are given every two weeks and are fair. They aren't the hardest tests, but be warned that he won't curve them. Overall, I would definitely recommend Berringer for any Math class.

I had better math teachers than this guy when I was in middle school. He was terrible. He got lost all the time when doing problems, he messed up all the time, he was often confused... the list goes on. I could not follow him because he wasn't going anywhere. He wasn't even funny or a good guy, he was pretty unhelpful during office hours [which he was never at] and never actually answered a question during class. I answered more of the other students questions than he did. If you are a person who pretty much gets math than I'm sure you'd do okay as long as you didn't pay attention in lecture because he'd probably mess you up; but I am not really one of those people and I need a teacher who can actually teach and I would highly, HIGHLY recommend never taking this guy for math...EVER! It sounds like he's better with physics, if only he'd stayed there and not screwed me and almost everyone else in my math class.

Berringer is a good profesor. He has tests every other week which keeps you up to date on the material, plus he drops the lowest test score which was nice. He is very funny and I good physics teacher. His lectures didn't lag and were relevant to the material, unlike my lab teacher and every other technical teacher I have had at Cal Poly.

Great teacher who is always willing to help students. He may seem odd with the gold chain and unbuttoned shirt, but actually explains things very well, unlike all the other physics teachers. If you see his name, then take him.

Awful instructor. Nice guy, but awful when it comes to teaching. I don't think I learned anything from him - except maybe an introduction to the very basics of physics, but I learned pretty much everything from the book and from other friends who had had the class earlier. He gives 4 midterms and drops one, but I never felt adequately prepared for any of them. Pretty much all he does is go over example problems, most of which he can't explain and I'm not even sure he knew how to do them himself, without looking in his teacher's manual. I would avoid him if possible, but if you do take him, make sure to have an outside source of help.

Professor Berringer is a really nice guy, but a terrible teacher. He's lectures are a mess. Half the time he spent the entire hour on one problem becuase he couldnt figure out how to do it. It was really frustrating. Even though I got a C I re-took the course, becuase I got nothing out of his class, and ended up getting an A. Save yourself some trouble and take a different professor.

Don't even bother going to the lectures. He's pretty dull and will spend the entire hour proving a very simple concept. I went to his office hours on occasion and that helped... A LITTLE. It really doesn't matter the type of teacher you get in physics, you still have to work your a** off to understand the material. I love his grading system though: only 4 midterms and lowest one is dropped. No quizzes, no homework, but a fat final.

Burton was a great instructor! He didnt present the material clearly a lot of the times, but he made the exams extremely easy! he has four midterms so be prepared. i think he scared me away the first day of class because he told us our first midtem was in two weeks. but he does drop the lowest one. he class is fairly easy, and you also pick up the material at the same time!

This guy can't really teach, but his tests are easy, so it kind of makes up for it..kind of. Honestly, the questions on his test are the most run of the mill basic shit, but he doesn't go over everything he tests on. Each multiple choice question on his tests is worth 5%, and there's usually 4 or 5 questions (That's where most people got fucked). Not the best teacher in the world, definately NOT a challenge, but not a bad guy.

Half way through the quarter and I have to say that Berringer is an alright professor. Humorous in his own little way, always encourages students to ask questions. He doesn't collect homework and gives axams every two or three weeks. A total of four exams given, five including the comprehensive final. The lowest exam score is dropped and I don't beleive he curves, not yet anyways.

What else is there to say? Fine person, nothing interesting. Class was meh... Blah, blah, blah... Fine person.
