Clancy is a young and good professor, I'm just bad at Stats. I'll probably end up with a C in the class. It seemed like the others in my class were able to grasp the concepts a lot better than myself. Clancy's grading is: Homework 15%, Quizzes 15%, Two Midterm Exams 40% (20% each), and a Final Exam 30%. He always encourages working in groups and assigns very little homework. Every quiz was either a group quiz or an open note quiz. He lets you use a full page (front and back) for each midterm and the final. I, for whatever reason, did feel a little intimidated asking questions during class though. Clancy doesn't waste a minute of lecture time and stays on track. I basically still know very little about statistics (and that's completely my fault), but on the bright side, I am still most likely going to pass. Tests, homework, and quizzes are all free response, but with that being said, Clancy is an extremely lenient grader and gives a lot of partial credit. He also curves when necessary. I don't think Clancy is the best or worst professor, but he's definitely solid. Take Clancy for a solid teacher.

Solid structured lectures, good use of handouts, quizzes were always group or open note, barely any homework. Clancy is super approachable and knowledgeable not to mention super young and focused on all of his lectures. Never felt like class time was wasted. The two tests were reasonable and he curves them if needed. Definitely would recommend this guy!

Very young professor and new to the school. I came in with a solid knowledge of stats which helped me a lot. He lectures the entire period and rambles on but his notes are easy to follow and teach yourself. He lets you have a full page front and back for all midterms and the final (extremely helpful!!). All the quizzes are open note, take home, or with a partner. Also easy grader and will give partial credit. Overall a decent professor to take, but you might be teaching yourself along the way.

Clancy was a good professor. Class was usually just him going over worksheets or homework and it was easy to follow. All quizzes are either open note, partner, or take home ones. You get to have one sheet of notes for both midterms and the final which was really helpful. The final was difficult but as long as you have well prepared notes, you should do fine.

Mr. Clancy was eloquent and wise. He taught everything in such a great way that it was so easy to learn all the material. Tests were easy if you practiced the material. Also, he's definitely pretty cute ;)

Mr. Clancy is my favorite professor. He does great with teaching material. He supplies you with handouts almost every class that you fill out with the class. You have the duration of a week to complete a homework assignment (there were only 7). The tests aren't too difficult, usually conceptual based. Only two exams and a final, all of which he allows you to have a 3x5 index card to write anything you want on. You do have a quiz most Fridays, but those are open notes. Basically just go to class and pay somewhat attention and take good notes and you'll be fine. Mr. Clancy is really nice (and also pretty hot).

Clancy is a good professor. And he's really hot which makes going to class 5 days a week a little more bearable. That being said, he is young and therefore doesn't have a ton of experience with teaching. But I think he did a great job, nonetheless. The tests and quizzes were very fair and the work load was bearable. Totally recommend taking Clancy for 252

Clancy's teaching style is not the best but also not the worst. It's mainly you printing out worksheets for class every day and then working through them. Personally, this did not really work for me. The first several weeks is mostly material from stat 251 so if you did well in that you should do well for a while. However, once you move to new material it's harder to understand since he doesn't explain things very well or teach the lesson before giving you the worksheet. Also, our class got so behind that about 3 weeks of material had to be jammed into 1 week, the week before the final, so we barely did any practice of the brand new material before taking a final that was almost entirely on that material. However several aspects of the class are easy; all quizzes are group and open note, homework can be done in pairs, and you can have notecards for the midterms and final. He also drops your lowest quiz grade (although this doesn't really help unless you failed one and aced the rest). Overall I would say if you go to class, always print the worksheets, do practice problems and bust your ass for the exams you should be fine.

Take this professor. Honestly, one of the best teachers at communicating material in an organized and clear manner. As long as you print out his worksheets before each lecture, you will definitely earn an easy A in the course. Take him. Trust.

This class wasn't my favorite but it definitely wasn't bad by any means. The first half of the quarter is all review from stat 251 which is really nice and everything is explained well. Like others said, hw is assigned on Mondays and due on Fridays and you can get it done during class in the computer lab (which is where you have class twice a week) if you really want. The quizzes are all in groups and open note, and he doesn't put anything on the quizzes that he didn't teach in class that week. Everything is super straightforward and he's a genuinely nice dude, plus he's pretty hot so that helps too

His worksheets are great. You most likely won't need to bother with the textbook. His lecturing style, however, leaves much to be desired. He's just not very good at it, so do not go to class expecting much in the way of clarification on those concepts you are having trouble with. I hear he is better one on one in office hours. Go to the tutoring sessions, join study groups, watch youtube videos, etc. I did not find much value in actual class time. The quizzes are group. A quiz gets dropped, which is honestly only valuable if you miss that class. The weekly homework assignments are more valuable than the quizzes, so DO make sure to do well on those, because homeworks cannot be dropped. The exams can be challenging, and he does enjoy surprising you by making them quite different from the practice exams, but overall they are not unfair. It's Stats. It sucks.

Go to his office hours. He is INCREDIBLY helpful during them. HW is worth more than quizzes so make sure you do well. Have him review it during his office hours as a "rough draft" and you'll get a 100. His tests are conceptual so use in-class examples and the book problems he assigns to study. For the quizzes, use the book problems to study. However, his tests are nothing like his quizzes so don't rely on those for test help. I got a D+ on the first midterm and A- on the second midterm and the final. I got As and Bs on the quizzes and As on the HW. Ended the class with a B+ (87%).

Oh Clancy...definitely a pretty socially awkward guy but a pretty decent teacher. I could definitely could watch basketball or play golf with his guy. Idk why he's just so awkward though. Every time I looked at him I just wanted to laugh. He would ask these easy ass rhetorical questions and the whole class would just say silent. In these situations I found it extremely difficult not to just burst out in laughter. Definitely worked my butt off in this class but got an A- in the end which I would take for any stats class. I'm a straight male but if I a girl or gay, I would definitely let him bare my children for sure 100 percent no doubt in my mind ;) xoxo take him and all your wildest dreams will come true trust me.

Clancy was a great professor and explained his material well. However, his tests questions are totally unrelated to some of the material and is overly tricky. Even if I studied all of his notes, there would still be questions on his exams that were so far off topic or over material not well covered in class. Regardless, this is still a good class to take for Business majors getting their statistics requirement done.

The only thing I really liked about this class was having him make outlines of the notes to which we then filled out. Clancy was not a particularly clear teacher and often created confusion leading to many people getting lost. I had a B most of the class and even though I studied really hard for the final, I still got a C in the class. Nobody I knew in the class got an A. The quizzes were done in groups though which was really nice and actually helpful.

Professor Kev aka Professor Yoked.. super chill teacher, kinda awkward but definitely hot so that's why I took the class. The homework isn't too bad and he has a really great teaching voice so I never actually fell asleep. He's a really cool guy if you just go into his office hours and talk about climbing. I wouldn't be surprised if he gave you an A for bringing him an acai bowl. Take his class!

Kevin Clancy is a great instructor. Anyone writing negative reviews aren't acknowledging the simple fact that stats 252 SUCKS. It's super hard. Stats is no fun so no teacher will be able to make it "easy". Clancy is a fair grader and a pretty good lecturer. He has you print out the handouts every day so buy a lot of printer paper and ink bc they are typically at least 5 pages long. He explains stuff pretty well and his office hours are extremely helpful. Slightly awkward guy, but has a funny sense of humor and the girls say he's easy on the eyes so theres a plus. Homework is all on JMP and it's assigned every friday due tuesday. Not a ton of HW or work in general outside of class. I got an 80% on the first mid term (thought i got 100%) then went pretty cold into the 2nd and managed a 74%. Group quizzes every thursday and online reading quiz due every tuesday. Both are pretty easy. I haven't taken final yet but ill probably get a C. Overall, great professor, tough class. Would recommend Clancy

I hate math and Clancy made it bearable. His lectures were a little dry, but he isn't trying to screw anyone over. He is ridiculously attractive which was distracting at times, but honestly helped me stay awake. The quizzes are open note, once a week, and you do them in a group of 2-3 people. Clancy is a GODSEND for allowing this. I honestly learned the most from working on the quizzes with my group. I highly recommend having a group of 3 and find the people who know what they are doing as group members (it will save your grade). The midterms and final were both way harder than expected so make sure to do the homework, reading quizzes, and group quizzes well so you'll have a safety net. I had the safety net and it's the only reason I passed. The first half of the quarter is relatively easy if you took AP Stats in high school and the material gets way more complex after the first month or so. Coming from someone who absolutely dreads math courses of any kind, take Clancy! He's approachable, never has a stick up his butt, and is just a good guy!

I never thought I could walk out of a class thinking I could teach the class better than the professor, but still got a C on every test. In fact, never have I even gotten a C on a test in college. Clancy is young, inexperienced, and maybe one day he will be a good teacher, but now he is not. He is monotone, boring, and moves really fast. His tests seem easy but he is a ruthless grader. I can confidently say I knew all the info in the class, probably would have at least gotten a B+ on an average professors tests, but not Clancy’s. He needs to lighten up and grade on conceptual understanding instead of procedure and minor errors.

Clancy is young but I found him to be a pretty good professor. He had every student print out worksheets to fill in with notes everyday which is a useful strategy, but a complete waste of paper. Especially for students who don't have a printer. Sometimes during lecture he would ask us a question on material he hadn't taught us yet and he'd have us sit in silence waiting for a hopeful soul to attempt guessing what we were going to learn next. Kind of a waste of time for a class that's only 50min but it sure is entertaining. I personally think people who complain really did not try in this class. His in class quizzes and at-home quizzes are open notes/group quizzes. Pretty easy stuff since he replicates the questions exactly from notes but only changes the numbers. Not to mention each midterm we were allowed to have a notecard & the final we could have a full sheet front/back of paper to help us. The other class could only have notes for the final, not the midterms so thats a huge relief. NEVER took the book out of the box since his notes were all I needed. Definitely get yourself a graphing calculator just to do complex formulas in. Too bad PolyRatings doesn't have a chill pepper...

Professor Clancy gives hand out notes that you fill in along the way which was immensively helpful. He was clear with the lectures. So clear that I didn't feel the need to use the book at all. I would suggest not buying the textbook because I never used mine. Join a study group or make friends as it's nice to ask around for help on the homework. I didn't find this class as challanging as I thought I would. Overall he was clear in his lectures, his homework was fair, and I would take him again. I suggest paying attention to what p-value means (Assuming the Ho is true, the probability of getting a test statistic of ___ or more extreme). That will come up a LOT.

This class wasn't too bad. The only thing that bugged me about it was that whoever graded our homework and quizzes would grade really hard and you'd get points off for the dumbest things. The homework was easy and was assigned once a week and would give enough time to turn in. I would go to his office hours and get it checked by him before turning it in & I got a A- average on them. The group quizzes were easy too. They happened once a week. Just make sure your group knows what they're doing. You don't need to do those practice problems from the book he says you should do for practice for the quizzes, they're pointless. Just read over your notes briefly and you'll do fine. He also drops the lowest quiz grade. The midterms and final weren't too bad either. However, be prepared for more conceptual understanding cause there was always multiple choice on concepts and I'd get them wrong :( Other than that, the rest was pretty easy. I got an A- average on hw, A average on group quizzes, A on the reading quizzes, a B- on the first midterm, a B+ on the second midterm and idk what I got on the final but it was prbly a B or a C (hopefully) and I'm going to get a B in the class. online quizzes 10% group quizzes 10% homework 10% 2 midterms 20% each & final 30%

Very important, If you take this guys class you will for sure, without a doubt end up teaching yourself the entire quarter because you will not learn anything in his class. The work load is tremendous and it’s all on you so don’t expect any help. He isn’t ready to be a college professor he should probably start at an elementary and then work his way up. He’s too young to be teaching at this level and he’s also dating a third year which is sus.

Professor Clancy is such a great professor. First off, his tests are extremely relevant to what he covers in class, and they are very manageable. He has lecture notes that he posts online that you print out and fill in during class which makes note taking a breeze. He is extremely good at answering questions and makes sure to explain topics thoroughly. You have weekly homework assignments which take at most an hour and a half. Clancy honestly made stat worth going to and made the class interesting. I highly recommend him for any stat class and I am glad I had him.

This class is pretty standard except that it is really casual. You can ask questions in the middle and he will answer. He's pretty young so people aren't really scared of him(lol). The big thing is that if you come to class every day, print out his notes and pay attention, YOU DO NOT NEED THE TEXTBOOK FOR THIS COURSE!

Just saying, my man Kevin Clancy is an absolute babe. He has the eyes of an angel and the most arousing chalkboard writing skills I've ever seen. Ugh... he's hot. Do not buy the textbook! You will never use it. His teaching skills are impeccable and his silky smooth voice imprints the course material into your brain like a sexy tramp stamp. If you have the chance to catch a glimpse of this man's chiseled calves you might as well have seen a magical unicorn. And don't even get me started on when he wears his thicccc-rimmed glasses... word on the street is that he's so steamy hot that he has to wipe them clean every fifteen seconds. When this perfect specimen of a man walks into the room, it's easy to mistake Kevin for a student due to his relative youth, but don't be fooled, this man is Daddy.

He is hot as hell. I just don't think he can teach whatsoever. No offense to the guy, he is very bright and kind. But not kind enough to open up to you completely. He will likely never respond to you if you thank him after class. Regardless, this class was surprisingly difficult and requires lots of studying beyond the class notes. I recommend studying the textbook which, fyi, you absolutely DO NOT need to buy. I also think his grading policies are whack but it is college so exams are always going to be high stakes. Final is worth 30% of your grade, with both midterms counting overall as 40%. You will end up having to teach this course to yourself as he is unable to clarify questions and help students understand the subject matter. Remember, he is a Lecturer. Not a Professor. However, besides the teaching, he is a nice dude.

I was dreading taking this course and if I had to take it again I wouldn't take it from any other instructor. He provides notes to fill out during class that are clear and extremely helpful, as well as practice exams, and study sheets. All in class quizzes are group work and open note, homework is also group work, and the online reading quizzes are super easy. He is very kind and office hours are a huge help. 3 x 5 cards on both midterms and a sheet of paper on the final. The class does require work, but he makes it interesting and understandable. I would highly recommend this professor.

It's rare the a first time professor both manages to be able to teach effectively and being able to structure a class well. Clancy did a great job teaching the material, and effectively planning the quizzes, midterms and final. I felt that I understood the material in time for exams, and that everything was explained well. I highly recommend Clancy!

The class was more or less straightforward, and the worksheets were pretty helpful. Homework is important, so do it to help you learn. Textbook isn't needed all that much, although it's a very good reference source. There are three midterms and a final, and announced quizzes. Clancy himself was a pretty apathetic, boring teacher (despite his good looks) and often sounded like he didn't care about what he was teaching. His tests were pretty hard, and he moved very quickly in class. If you fall behind within a class lecture, it will be hard to keep up with the rest of the class because he isn't brilliant at answering questions and you may find yourself wanting to go back to the textbook or the internet for clarification. I have heard that he is better in office hours, but overall he's really awkward which makes talking to him difficult. If you already took AP Stats though, you should be fine (many in my class did very well because they already know a lot of the material).

This guy is awesome. Class is extremely straight forward. I think the reason people think he is apathetic during this lecture is because he has a masters in stats and this class only covers VERY basic material. I would get bored too. If you do the homework on time, show up to class, and study maybe an hour before midterms/finals you will definitely succeed in this class. Recommended professor

Solid class. Professor Clancy goes over what you need to know in a straightforward fashion, and the tests / homework / quizzes reflect the same material. My only complaint is that the powerpoint / corresponding worksheet setup got a little dry after a while, but it was effective enough for me so I can't really complain. Also I'd recommend making a table of when to use what hypothesis test for the end of the quarter – that'll help you out a lot.

Professor Clancy was very helpful and knowledgeable in statistics. He worked hard at presenting the material in interesting ways, such as in-class activities counting M&Ms. He was able to keep most of the class engaged and active. He encouraged asking questions and collaboration. Because he is young, he understands his students very well and has designed his class to work well for students our age, unlike some other professors that have not changed their lecture slides since the 90's. Overall, I feel that Professor Clancy has prepared his students well. His quizzes were always open note or group, they were graded fairly with plenty of partial credit for work.
