The best way to describe Professor Bouvette is good person, bad teacher. Every lecture she held was pointless; she streamed videos of advertisements or of top ten worst marketing campaigns. The "lab" consisted of her sitting at her laptop and having the mentors do all the work. The class isn't bad but I highly suggest Bouvette improve her teaching methods as it becomes frustrating to teach and learn everything by yourself. The group project is only worth 34% of the grade, but it can be fun if you make it fun with a good idea and have a good group. So, if you're reading this because you want to take her, take her if she is the only option. Don't take her if there is Dobson.

This class was by far my favorite out of any I have taken at Cal Poly. I found her to be a very fair and friendly professor. She really knows her stuff and is entirely approachable if you ever need extra help.

Professor Bouvette is the prime example of nice person terrible teacher. The way marketing is set up is one class is a lecture and the other is a lab. The lecture with Professor Bouvette was absolutely pointless. Consistently showed up at least 5-10 minutes late. When she showed up, she would show pointless videos of advertisements and on businesses that are least 10-15 years old. She would read off her powerpoint and skimmed much of the important information. Many of you are probably thinking at the moment, "Well I'll probably just skip class." Slow down there tiger. Professor Bouvette has in class assignments that are worth points and you never now when she will assign them. The lab was a time where I felt like I actually learned marketing and that was because the mentors took charge there (Shout Out to Niki - She's the best mentor out there). Bouvette sat on her laptop and didn't do anything for the entire two hours. If it wasn't for the mentors, I would not have learned a single thing in the class. Bouvette has no confidence in her ability as a professor leading a group of students. She looked for student approval in her teaching. Her final was 300 points and 75 questions. Because I know many of you aren't to keen with math, (that's why we're business majors) that comes to 4 points a question. The class had 19 online quizzes worth 5 points a question. Each final question is worth almost a quiz. The final was rather easy and is the main reason I earned an A in the class. To sum up having a quarter with Professor Bouvette, I bring an example from the final. The final started at 7pm in the Silo. All her sections were taking it together. Professor Bouvetter arrived to campus at 6:55 and had not printed out the tests yet. She finally walked into the SILO at 7:30 with the printed out tests. Unreliable, Unprepared, and Unqualified: Professor Susan Bouvette.

She is an awesome Professor and genuinely cares about her students. In class, she shared real life examples from her career as a marketing manager. Professor Bouvette was approachable and was always available to students if they had questions. During the last two weeks she extended her office hours to be more available to students.

Thanks to Professor Bouvette's class, I have a new admiration for marketing. I really did get a lot out of the class, including how to come up with a product idea and market it. I felt that the course was challenging, but just enough to motivate me to do my best. The results showed in our team's final marketing plan and pitch.

She sucked at teaching and was just very unorganized. It didn't help that the class had a lecture and lab component to it which was terrible. Her powerpoints were pointless since she skimmed them and gave you no time to take notes. Not only that but she also would do nothing during the lab part but sit on her laptop. I just stopped going to this class and even though she gives in class asignments, I still got 100% on them even though I was never there for them...how I don't know. I didn't even read the book and somehow got a B. I heard how bad Simon is but so is Bouvette so please take someone else. THIS CLASS MADE ME NOT WANT TO DO MARKETING.

I declared Marketing as my concentration because of Professor Bouvette's class. She really knew her stuff and I enjoyed it when she shared stories from her time as a marketing manager. The tests were hard, but she warned us and also provided excellent study guides. She is a wonderful person who really cares about her students and was always available after class and during office hours for additional help.

Professor Bouvette was a really great professor that helped me during office hours and went out of her way to aid my group in anything we needed! She is extremely approachable and a very informative professor and I would strongly recommend her to any Business student that needs to take the introduction course to marketing. In fact, I am pursuing the IMC minor because of her and this class! Her quizzes are extremely easy. They are all online. The midterm and final are a little tricky but just make sure you know the material in the book and understand the concepts for situational based questions. Also it is essential to pick a group that you like and are cohesive with right off the bat!

Professor Bouvette is an outstanding teacher and it is very obvious that she knows her stuff. She also has tons of marketing experience. If you put in the effort, show up to class, and work hard on the final project you can get a decent grade. Her exams are hard but if you use the study guides you should do fine.

Professor Bouvette was a great professor. She goes out of her way to help students succeed. The class is based upon creating a marketing pitch, which is a very organized, systematic process that is graded fairly. There are also quizzes that are easy if you do the readings (she goes over the readings in class before the quiz too).Overall, you definitely want to take Bouvette over any other marketing professor for this class. She is the best!

She is an amazing teacher who has so much to share from personal experience. Always available to students and a very caring person, I really loved her advice and mentorship. Student who were critical just didn't get her class or care about learning about marketing. If you need to take BUS 346 take Professor Bouvette!

This class is an absolute joke and it's very unfortunate that it's the intro class to the marketing department. Susan doesn't even seem like she is with us in class and she only assigns busy work. If you ask clarifying questions she gets confused and frustrated. If you get a decent mentor the class is easier, but she pretty much does no teaching. She also has a bad attitude and gets snappy/frustrated very easily. I got an A, but this class is probably the worst class I've taken at Cal Poly. I don't know how she is still a professor here.

This poor lady. I'm sure she means well, but she does not know how to teach. She didn't start lecturing until after our first midterm and even when she did start, it was awful. No one pays attention. If you look around, everyone is on their computers doing other things. She lets the students walk all over her. Its sort of sad. Also, the mentors basically are the ones who grade all of your assignments. She is not a good teacher. If you want to concentrate in marketing, I suggest taking a different professor. If you're just trying to meet the requirement, its doable.

Susan Bouvette is one of the best teachers I've had at Cal Poly. She definitely wants to help you succeed and even gave us her personal cell phone to call/text if we had questions. Her online chapter quizzes on Poly Learn were helpful for the mid-term and final exams. She is really dedicated to her students and is great one-on-one. If you go to her office hours you can ask her questions and he will help you with the marketing plan and exam.....EXCELLENT! Take her!

Professor Bouvette would consistently show up late class, at least 10 minutes or so, even on the day of the midterm. She was highly unprepared and her lectures were relatively pointless as they did not reflect anything tested on and it was best to just read the book. However, she sometimes had in class assignments, so attendance was pretty much mandatory. She had a hard grading scale for the project but didn't grade over 60% of the assignments and tell students what to improve on even though all of these assignments were due in a final project at the end of the quarter. Susan is one of the main reasons I will not pursue marketing or have any interest in it. Tomorrow I take the final and as I type this, over 50% of our grades are not entered. If you actually have an interest in marketing, do not take Susan. This class sucked.

Susan is seriously the nicest lady you'll meet. You can tell she genuinely cares about her students and wants them to succeed. While the class has struggles sometimes, Susan is understanding of student difficulties and will try to help you if you ask. Lab was a little challenging but the marketing mentors are incredibly helpful and Susan does her best to constantly check in. Overall, I really enjoyed the course!

Bouvette's class consisted of 30 minute powerpoint lectures on lecture days which barely covered the material. Meanwhile on workshop days, she did absolutely nothing and relied on her student mentors to run her class. When she grades your assignments for the overall project for the course, she has no idea as to why she gave you that score and could not tell you what you could do better. She did not show up for a number of days and had other professors come substitute or just had students run her class. She is very unorganized and very subjective in how she grades.

Susan Bouvette was easily one of the least professional professors I have ever had. My group and I tried to cut her some slack but honestly she was 20 minutes late to both the midterm and the final, never had grades in on time and never had an answer to any in class questions. She seems like a nice person outside of this class but she does not teach whatsoever and was never fully prepared. She prefaced the class with the fact that she was "a lecturer not a professor" and she proved all quarter how much she did not consider this a real job. Thank god for the amazing business mentors because she rarely gave actual directions or feedback on assignments. However, I will praise her for the fact that she was lenient on grading and there were many small grades so one mistake won't sink you. All in all, class with her won't ruin your quarter but it won't make it any easier either.

She's not the best professor, but she's one of the kindest professors at this school. Her class was very easy, as she briefly went over the material and let us out 45 minutes early. I'm giving her some slack because there were other issues that were more important to her. During the lab, we work with mentors ( huge shoutout to Eric) on our marketing plan assignments each week. She even told us the final would be easy and it was. If you just do the online quizzes and get in a good group, you'll be fine in her class.

The class itself wasn't that difficult. The mentors were great. Bouvette did not know how to teach it well though. You don't really need to go to the lectures as long as you do the readings, just go to the workshop and check online for the online exercises. She's a really nice lady but if you really want to learn about marketing don't take this class.

Don't fret over Bouvette's low ratings. Keep in mind that 2 of the questions polyratings asks are: how clearly does the professor present material and how well they recognize student difficulties; while I do believe Bouvette scores low in these, this class IS NOT HARD. You choose your own group, so make sure you don't just choose people your friends with, choose people who you know will get shit done. It's always nice to have an artsy person who is good with making your work look aesthetically pleasing. Bouvette is so sweet, and I feel so bad for her because she sort of gets walked all over. If you look around the class during lectures, no one really pays attention, and I believe that had a lot to do with the classroom layout. I put a decent amount of effort into this class and pulled a straight A. Great GPA booster for me. Midterm and final are pretty challenging. Pretty low-stress class.

Make time to talk to her, she has tons of marketing experience and she helped me get an internship. She deserves much more respect from students than she gets, and I feel bad for her because she was very sick the entire quarter and often lost her voice when lecturing. I heard that her mother was seriously ill and was in the emergency room several times during the quarter. She asked another professor cover for her when she went took her mother to Stanford and I know that students complained because she missed class. Show some compassion! Amazingly, she was always very understanding and kind with student challenges.

Bouvette is a terrible teacher. Don't worry, it's an easy class and you'll get an A because every test and quiz is from a test bank and can be found on quizlet. But if you anutally wan to learn about Marketing do not take this teacher. I honestly thought it was a joke and there was a prank camera her teaching was so bad. She seems almost scared of her students and unsure of what she is saying. It is unbelievably frustrating.

I had this professor as a teacher for Marketing, BUS 346. As you probably know, this class is centered around a huge group project that allows you to work irl with a professional service/product (basically a company). For my group, it was incredibly hard because not only did we have a B2B company (basically a business service sold to other businesses so it was confusing and didn't apply to a lot of concepts learned at first (it's like one of the last chapters smh), but also because my group consisted of one guy who skipped class and didn't tell us why, another guy who was okay with whatever grade we got (as long as he didn't do anything), another guy who at first did everything (then quit our group bc he was doing everything LOL), and another girl who helped me out. Basically we did it between two people which was complete BS. Anyways, we told the teacher and she was SO incredibly helpful in giving us credit where it was due. (unlike other teachers who literally are like: oh ya sucks, that's life). Also, this teacher has hella experience helping you get an internship (in marketing) if needed and is incredibly caring of her students, both well-being and future. Being a freshman and experiencing a shitty group, I would have given this class a shit grade too, but with this teacher, she honestly helped the other girl and me so much . Honestly, the biggest advice for this class: go to at least like 3-5 office hours and take notes during class and you'll do fairly well on the midterm and final. Just try your best and ask her to review portions of your marketing plan (in person) if you need her help/if your entire group is shit.

The class is probably going to be my easiest business class even though I really don't like marketing as a career option. She can sometimes be unorganized. I have trouble knowing what assignments are due at times because the polylearn is out of place but I only made the deadlines because my team member reminded everyone about what was due. Basically, in the class you are randomly assigned to a group that you are going to work with on a marketing plan and project for the entire quarter and then a presentation at the end. There is also a multiple choice midterm and exam which is not that hard, even though I got a 75% on both exams for some reason probably due the fact I am bad at taking tests. There are easy weekly quizzes which you can do ALL of them in an hour. We have weekly assignments that relate to the marketing plan too which is not hard, you just have to put the effort into it to make sure the documents make sense. The reason why I have an especially good impression of Bouvette is because she was nice enough to bump my grade up into an A when I was two points away from an A. I know that most professors would still not have bumped my grade but she was nice enough to do it anyways. Bouvette is a really kind professor!
