Irene is awesome. She's smart, helpful and friendly. She knows her shit and even helped me with another packaging class I had. Glad I took this class to understand lots of different softwares for packaging and product design.

I wish I knew the stuff I wrote for you guys below before I signed up for this class. Since this is a first rating/review of Irene, I'll be as informative as possible: Take her class if you've an absolute packaging geek and don't mind her sneaking a pop quiz here and there throughout the quarter, all of which count. She's a strict instructor who docks points for being a minute late or leaving a minute early. If you miss a lab, she docks 1/4th of the overall attendance grade. Worst part, her attendance policy wasn't listed in her syllabus. She's someone who has no feelings and doesn't care about your learning. She takes her job very seriously. She's there to teach at the minute she's suppose to and leave the minute class ends like it's a 9-5 job for her. Good luck getting help from her outside of class. IT 330 has a term long packaging assignment for which you'll have to use Artios CAD throughout the quarter. She went over it only once! So good luck teaching yourself that program all by yourself. Her expectations are pretty much unknown and there's no way you can figure it out by asking her, especially since English isn't her first language. The only way you know, is when your grade comes in. Which by the way, are final! She doesn't review grades at all! PS: IT 330 with Saha/Carbonell is not curved. Average in Class was B-.

Carbonell is the absolute homie. She is a great teacher who will work with you to help you understand the material. The pace of the class is structured very well and definitely does not move too fast. The labs are relatively easy and help to boost your grade. The final project is also a very manageable project. Overall, I would highly suggest taking Carbonell if you can.

She's really helpful if you have questions and very passionate about packaging. The class isn't that difficult, tests are fair and the lab boosts your grade.

Irene is a really amazing teacher and a wonderful woman! It makes me sad to see some not so great reviews on here because she really does want you to do well! Granted, this isn't one of those classes that you can just show up to and get an A in. I'm a packaging minor and definitely still had to study for the exams but it wasn't horrible...just a lot of memorization. She presents information very clearly and will answer any questions you may very well. Irene is my favorite packaging professor that I've ever had; lovely lady with a sweet heart!

Professor Carbonell is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about packaging. She has great industry knowledge and experience. She’s firm but fair. If students have questions, she’s happy to clarify. She encourages and welcomes class participation and discussion. The quarter long project is fun and she does a great job at dividing the groups so everyone brings something to the table. I’m lucky to have had her for all of my packaging courses so far!
