Patty is the absolute best! It was her first quarter at Cal Poly and she was honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. She is so knowledgable and interested in her subject and brings it a lot of real world experience. On the last day she gave a cute little inspirational speech. I just loved her and this class a lot.

I personally did not like Patricia as a teacher. She assigned quiz's on a chapter that were fairly easy. But the tests were super hard. She doesn't help at all with what to study so you have to memorize everything in the chapters. I personally would not recommend her as she is still new and needs to learn more.

This was Professors Dahm's first quarter at Cal Poly and she did an okay job. The class consists of 7 reading quizzes that everyone either gets 4/5 or 5/5 on. They are very easy and nothing to worry about and she puts some of the questions on the midterms (she gives the answers after the test). Her first midterm was the easiest exam I have taken at Cal Poly. The average was a mid A and she quickly learned she had to be harder. The second midterm was a bit harder and the average was a high B. The final was very hard (not sure about the average). Each exam was suppose to consist of a group part where you retake the exam with your group project, but it never worked out until the final. There is also a group project you are supposed to be doing and she does not provide clear instructions at all. My group got a low B on it and and I'll that because I've never had a class have a big project like that and never really talk about it. Overall, her class was very relaxed. You just show up and participate and don't need to take notes cause she posts them. The information is very straightforward and you can get a B in this class no problem at all.

Love her! Easy to talk to, responds to emails quickly, and she seems to genuinely care for her students. Class consisted of 7 reading quizzes, 3 midterms, and a group project. As long as you do the reading the night before, you'll do fine. For the midterms, she definitely made them harder as the course progressed, but if you take good notes and study the powerpoints, you can easily do well on them. For the last midterm, there's an individual portion and a group portion, but the group portion was weighed less than the individual portion. For the group project, you just need to turn in a final paper, but beware, she grades harder on this. Lots of class activities done within your assigned group, but they're easy and interesting activities. Overall great class and great professor, take her!

Patty was a really great and interesting professor. The class had three midterms which weren't very difficult if you did the reading. The readings were very interesting and about 15 pages per night. You can find the textbook online if you search a little. The group project, at least for my group, was done two nights before the due date, and with very little information, and we still got a B. I think she focuses more on the presentation of the ideas, rather than the actual content. One of my favorite professors at Cal Poly and one of my favorite classes.

Dahm was really not that nice of a teacher. Doesn't allow make ups under any circumstance (and I mean ANY) and is not willing to go outside her robotic teaching style. She may actually be a robot she is so scripted.

Prof Dahm is amazing!! It's a pretty easy class to begin with, but her friendly, likable personality made it that much better (she worked in HR for Target, so she's obviously good with people). QUIZZES: about once a week, the quizzes just require you read the really quick online chapters and know the basics of a few terms. Honestly I'd get a 9/10 on every quiz for just reading the chapter and jotting down a few definitions, and most of them were common sense (i.e. Traits of a good leader, Personality types, Negotiating tactics, Ways to motivate employees, etc) TESTS: just barely harder than the quizzes, which were pretty straightforward and simple. You take the test individually and then immediately after you take it in a group—every group gets at least an A, and your individual test grade is combined with your group test grade (which brings it up!) PROJECT: you have a group for the quarter (and she really encourages you to be friends with each other, even initiates it in class w/team building exercises like lego-building competitions and spaghetti-marshmallow-tower contests). You work with this group on a really easy project to interview 2 members of a company, and you have the whole quarter to do it. Honestly one of the easiest, most enjoyable classes I've taken! And I just negotiated a lower price on bedroom furniture using tactics from this class. 10/10 recommend taking this with Patty Dahm!!!

Professor Dahm is one of the best professors I've had at Poly! Her class is extremely interactive, and all the activities strongly relate to the course material. The class is broken down into quizzes, 2 exams, a group project, and participation. The quizzes basically test if you did the reading or not, if you read the chapter properly there is no reason you won't get at least a 9 out of 10. The exams are a bit more difficult, especially the first one because you don't see it coming. If you study hard for the tests, re-read the chapters and look over her power points though you can do really well. The group project is interesting and you can learn a lot from it, and if you go to office hours you should do pretty well. Overall great class, and amazing professor.

Patty Dahm is my woman! She's an awesome lady, I really have nothing bad to say about her. I was not looking forward to this class because it definitely has a reputation of being really dry, but she made this class really fun and interactive. I had it at 8 AM and most people were really engaged which is surprising for such an early class. The reading can be boring, but as long as you do a good job at the readings (which isn't a lot, maybe 30 minutes worth once a week) and pay attention to her slides you should do well on the quizzes and tests. She doesn't try and trick you, you just have to pay attention in class! I think her class is a little bit harder than the other 387 classes, but honestly she was so engaging and fun that it made up for it. A lot of my friends took Stevens and they said it was the most boring class they've ever taken at Cal Poly and they low key fell asleep in class, and I did not feel that way about Patty's class. She rocks. I would highly recommend. One of the best professor's I've had yet.

Professor Dahm is awesome! The class is really not that hard, and it is super fun and interactive! I would definitely read before the quizzes and the test. The quizzes are really easy if you read and the tests (3 of them) are not bad for the multiple choice but the short answer could be a bit tricky. The third test was by far the hardest out of the three. Project is easy. Overall, great class!

Professor Dahm is an amazing teacher. She is able to make class engaging and entertaining all the way through. It's not a difficult class. If you do all the readings and show up to all the lectures its very hard to get below a B. Despite that, I feel like I've learned more from this class thanks to Professor Dahm's hands-on teaching style. She has you make name tents on day one and really makes an effort to learn your name and get to know you. The class is fun, and it's worth showing up every day even on that basis alone. That being said, if you are very introverted, you may find the class slightly uncomfortable, although I think this will be true for almost every BUS 387 course and has less to do with the professor you take it with. You are assigned a group at the beginning of the quarter with which you will do group activities and take the group portions on the midterms. There is no final! Homework entails reading book chapters and some cases on rare occasion. There is a weekly reading quiz to check that you read the chapter. Even if you are introverted, I think the class is very entertaining, and if you enjoy listening to class discussion, you'll be just fine! She never forces anyone to speak, and really does try her best to make you feel at home. Overall, BUS 387 with Dahm was an absolute blast and I'd avidly recommend it to anyone looking to learn a lot from a fun class that's also great for meeting people!

The class was taught well and she is clearly passionate. However, the exams are not as easy as you may think and you have to read to do well on the quizzes. This class can/probably will drop your GPA. The material is straight forward, but the exams can be tricky. She cares a lot about participation, she will dock you if you miss class a significant amount. I would recommend taking this class with another professor to be honest. If you are passionate about the topic then sure take her, but if you feel that it is not super applicable to your concentration try Huang or someone else. Not the most understanding person.

I did fine in this class, but did not enjoy it. The concepts are very self explanatory and the activities are not helpful. I think there are useful things that can be taught based on the concepts, but Professor Dahm did not do that. Each class was lecture or an activity. All the activities were not engaging and did not bring our assigned group together. Quizzes are actually hard. Exams are same difficulty of quizzes. I recommend Stevens (based on what I have heard).

A relatively easy and non-technical class. Dahm is a really nice woman and she wants her students to succeed, simple as that. She's available when you need to talk to her about anything and she makes somewhat repetitive material much more appealing by giving us the ability to utilize our learning in real-life situations. An easy A especially if you do the readings! You don't take this class for the material, most people take it because it is a required class but you DO take it for Dahm, what a wonderful professor!

Professor Dahm's negotiation class is my favorite class I have ever had at Cal Poly, and I have Dahm to thank! In this class, she focused a lot less on boring material and a lot more on learning by doing; almost every week we conducted negotiation simulations where we were given well-developed characters and situations with the intention of utilizing an ever-growing list of negotiation strategies to reach a satisfying agreement. While that may sound repetitive, it was actually the opposite; each negotiation was different (from a 1-on-1 to a full group negotiation to a 3-way negotiation) and each one needed to be approached in a different way; some of them required competitive negotiation styles while others only made it possible to reach a deal by working in collaboration with the other party. It felt like what I learned on Tuesday, I got to apply to the negotiation on Thursday and I loved that! There are two midterms and a final project (analyzing a real-world negotiation that you conducted) and the midterms are 20% weighted towards a group midterm (taken right after the individual portion which is the same midterm). If you want to hone your negotiation skills or simply gain confidence in asking for what you want, or if you really enjoy activity-based learning, this is the class for you! As for Dahm herself, she is such a sweetheart!! She's very kind and it's clear that she wants you to succeed. I cannot overstate it enough that this was my favorite class at CP, I don't enjoy many of my classes but I seriously looked forward to each class. Side Note: I also had Dahm for BUS 387 and she was absolutely wonderful in that class too!
