Dan Banfield is actually so amazing. This was his first quarter teaching business 214 and he's doing an incredibly good job. I'm writing this before the class is even over but as of right now I'm getting an 88 in his class and expect an A. All of his quizzes and midterms were really fair, he gives you a cheat sheet and a study guide for midterms and assigns an extra credit assignment that can boost your lowest midterm grade a full letter grade. Overall he is not only really fair with his class but he actually teaches the content really well. He really wants you to succeed and enjoy accounting as much as he does. The only downside is the time...7 am but otehr than that, absolutely worth it.

Professor Banfield's 1st class ever teaching was my Managerial Accounting class. Not only is he very intelligent and knowledgable in the subject matter (CPA), he is genuinely so nice and really cares about his student's success. His tests are fair and he covers everything on them. He is very helpful during his office hours, even though he is the Controller of CP(probably very busy). He presents the material very clearly and at a pace everyone can follow and retain the information. Definitely one of the best professors I have had at Cal Poly so far and I HIGHLY recommend him!!

This was his first quarter teaching and I'm shocked. He teaches better than most teachers who have been here since the 90's. His lectures can be boring and drag on but if you can pay attention for two hours, then you will notice that he actually presents the material really well and wants you to succeed. He loves accounting which is awesome and his midterms are fair. I would recommend!

Professor Banfield was one of the best professors I've had so far at Cal Poly, despite it being his first quarter teaching. His quizzes/tests were challenging but fair and he truly does care about what's best for his students and their success. It's worth the 7am class time, Banfield is awesome!

I. Love. Dan. Banfield. He is the sweetest teacher I've ever met. His teaching style is reading off of the slides and learning the material through an online program. There are no projects, but there are extra credit opportunities, 2 midterms, and a final, along with some quizzes. It is very easy to achieve an A in this course if you do the online work. I never read the textbook, I just did the online activities and STUDIED THE TAKE-HOME STUDY GUIDES he provides. They're basically the same as his tests, and the final is a accumulation of all the quizzes and tests he's given in the past. Banfield is a really really great guy and a great teacher. He goes out of his way to help each student. Show up everyday and show interest in the course and he will help you immensely. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Banfield is hands down one of the best professors I've ever taken! He genuinely cares about his students success and is always there to help. He doesn't only teach the material but takes the time to make sure you actually understand it. Highly recommend!!

At 7:30 in the morning, accounting is the last thing people really want to go to, but Banfield is good at communicating the information. And all his slides are on PolyLearn, so it's hard to really miss much. It's also pretty easy to pass the class without the textbook. His PowerPoints make it simpler. Overall, he's a good teacher.

Absolutely phenomenal. Worth getting up at 630am every Tuesday and Thursday. He's literally the Controller for Cal Poly Corporations, which is epic. I hated accounting before this class and was honestly pretty horrible at it; I somehow miraculously pulled a B- in BUS 214...but I was so close to getting an A- with Banfield's 215 class, not because he was easier, but because he's such a good professor. He's super good at recognizing when people don't understand things, is all-around extremely fair, and is just a great lecturer who makes things clear. The guy doesn't have a single bad bone in his body. Just trust me, and the other people who wrote ratings and take him. He's teaching 214 next quarter and told me he plans to use the same format of teaching, which I thought was fantastic. 10/10. Banfield, you're the man. Banfield, If you're reading this, sorry for coming in half-dead half the time and for having such clueless looks on my face all the time, but know I really wasn't all that clueless because of you. You're the best Dan. By far one of my favorite professors.

Banfield is a super chill, easy teacher. The material is cut and dry and pretty much just pure memorization. If you study at all you'll get an A. Banfield is a pretty plain guy but he's super friendly and almost always ends class early. The online format for reading and homework sucks but it's very minor. Definitely would recommend.

I got a D+ in Bus 212 and was completely dreading to take this class. I got B on the first midterm and a C on the second, which for me is pretty good. The homework is easy and you can do it as many times as it takes to get 100%. He gives you a grade for attendance and participation too which helps. He's a super nice guy and I would tell anyone to take him!! I'm someone who has struggled through Bus classes here but Banfield definitely has reasonable expectations and is very helpful.

Dan "The Man" Banfield. What a guy. This man is amazing. He is so so so smart, his class is great, he puts in a ton of effort to help students succeed. He gives extra credit on everything, and it is always relevant to what you are learning. He lets you have a one page 8.5x11 piece of paper on tests, and he makes study guides for every exam. Figure out a way to take him, best 7 AM ever of all time.

Take this professor if you want BUS 215 explained well and graded fairly. Perhaps too fairly, it is very easy to do well in this class. The only downside is you probably are waking up before 7 AM.

I never rate professors on poly ratings, but Banfield might be one of the best professors at Poly. Never have I felt so thankful for taking a class at 7 am. This guy is so easy to follow along with during lecture. He paces himself well and is incredibly helpful if you don't understand something right away. I did well in Financial, but that class was a total grind, this class on the other hand was a breeze. Both midterms, all four quizzes, and the final were totally fair and every topic on them was covered during lecture. Not to mention you get a one sided cheat for the midterms and final which was a life saver in all circumstances. If you don't take managerial with Banfield, you're missing out, and more than likely making your schedule more difficult than it needs to be.

What the guy/gal below said. Amen. I too took this class and have long since graduated from Poly, but I was cruising Poly Ratings for a kick and thought that I should pipe in and let you know how much of a joke this prof is.
