There is barely any homework for the course, and you can take the quizzes as many times as you want until you get the grade you're satisfied with. But it is very hard to understand her during lectures. Sometimes I was confused on what the assignments were and when they were due because it was hard to understand what she was talking about. But if you have a question, don't be afraid to email her. She gets back to you very quickly.

I had her for Liberal Studies 101 since she recently took over the LS department. She did not pass out a syllabus or any sort of paper that had dates and information about the class on it. She told us at the beginning of the quarter that attendance would cover 50% of our grade. What she failed to mention is that there a little assignments on class days and if you are not there, you can\'t really make them up. The class was a joke and we just had guest lecturers like counselors from the counseling center or the librarian or a math teacher come in and tell us information about the school. The class felt like SOAR and the assignments were a joke. She was unclear about the setup for the class. Avoid her if you can, she is unclear and does not really understand how to relay information effectively.

Lola is the center of my universe. Not only is she the sweetest thing in the world, but she will invite you to go flute making with her and she will buy you tea! Despite throwing a lit match into the trashcan, she really makes physical science fun and enjoyable. The material was not hard, and in the beginning, it was hard understand her accent, but you get used to it. She signs her emails "LBJ" and it's the cutest thing ever. Vote Lola for president!!

Dr. Berber was amazing. She is extremely nice and super funny. I have always hated chemistry, but after I took her class, chemistry is my favorite science. I DO recommend her. The only down side with Dr. Berber is she has a very think accent, but I liked it!

this teacher has horrible, unorganized lectures. she knows everything shes talking about and is very knowledgable in chem, but since you cant understand anything shes says because she mumbles with a thick accent. she should only teach a lab, not the lecture. her tests have NOTHING that shes covered in class. avoid this teacher at all costs unless you know a lot about chemistry, or are wanting to stay up every night to study for the test she doesnt prepare you for. im in ME, but i had 4 TIMES the amount of work in this class than i had in ALL my other classes COMBINED!

this professor is really bad at the basics of teaching. she can't get across the point that she is trying to make and often invents words of her own that no one can understand. all of her handouts and lecture problems have errors that the students have to point out to her. her grading policy is also very bad. she believes that the majority of her students must recieve C's and tries to grade to make sure this happens. on several of the assignments her TA's had to tell her that she was grading way too hard because all the students had spent around 8 hours working on certain reports just to recieve D's and C's. her lectures often don't touch on even half the materials on her tests leaving students to prepare on their own even though they don't know what to study for. the class is very frustrating because no one knows exactly what should be done and the teacher doesn't tell you. she simply has a website that is supposed to tell you everything you need to know. however she often forgets to put vital links on the page so you often can't get to the resources you need. if you can avoid it take another teacher or don't take chem at all.

When berber tries to explain stuff, unless you've learned the topic before in high school chem (which was really only 2 chapters that were recovered for me), you WILL NOT understand what the heck is going on. Reading the book is good, i like this book. However, studying the book, and knowing the book PERFECTLY will still only get you a C, low B maybe, on any exam of hers. And listening to her won't make you understand the material. Pretty much, settle for a B, and that's if you REALLY understand chemistry.

If you enjoy failing take this teacher! Otherwise avoid this class at all costs! I warn you now, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.. RUN RUN RUN AWAY.. take the class next term with a better teacher because BerBer will destroy you. You will not learn anything in her lectures, so if you do go against my strong suggestion, you better be able to teach yourself chemistry. Her classes are completely unorganized and she gives the wrong information half the time so even if you can understand her, you probably should just ignore her or skip class everyday.

She is not actually THAT bad of a teacher. Her tests and quizes were just unreasonable based on the amount of knowledge that could be gleamed from the lectures. If you read the book (a couple timse) than you will be fine. If she had easier tests and quizes that were more appropriate for the amount of information she conveyed the cuorse would have been far more managable.

She doesnt really make it clear on some of the topics, but the office hours will help if you dont understand some of the topics...quiz 2 was the hardest...nearly everyone failed it...but at the end she does curve to a 85 75 65 grade. i would recommend taking someone else, but her class is passible

Well, lets put it this way. Before Chem 124, i never really thought about suicide. But after a few weeks in that class, it began to seem like a healthy alternative to chemistry. For the first few weeks i thought i was doing pretty well, i mean i understood the concepts and ideas. And then i realized that the class was not introduction to the Spanish language. Seriously though, it was not Dr. Berber's lack of proficiency in english that made the entire class struggle. It was her insanely unorganized teaching method that leaves you screwed. Lets take her lectures for example. What normal teachers do is have some kind of outline, or at least some kind of heading after each section of notes. But no. Dr. Berber does not believe in headings, or any kind of order. Instead she tries to squeeze writing into every little section of overhead that exists. You will see writing everywhere. EVERYWHERE. Oh did i mention she writes in cursive. It is so unreadable that it might as well be in hebrew. So lets put this in simpler terms. Say Dr. Berber is your wilderness guide, and you guys are under her supervision. She attempts to teach you about the dangers of the woods, but you cant understand her because shes speaking spanish, and when she writes it down for you, you remember that you dont know how to read hebrew. So when the day comes for you to venture out on your own (Exam day) you stroll around feeling somewhat confident because Dr. Berber has told you you have nothing to worry about. Suddenly a big bear comes out (a chemistry problem) and you try to remember what to do. However, you suddenly realize Dr. Berber has taught you nothing. The morale of the story is avoid Dr. Berber. You'll just end up either committing suicide or being slaughtered by bears.

I personally enjoyed having Professor Berber for Chem. I realized that many of my classmates were frustrated by her spanish accent, but if you can get past that it's clear that Prof. Berber knows the material she is teaching and wants her students to succeed. Unfortunately, it just so happens that chemistry is a very tough subject, which means this class gets a bad rap among students. Don't take Berber if you don't think you can get past an accent, but otherwise it's all the same material.

Dr. Berber is not a bad person, she is just a HORRIBLE teacher. People complain about her accent, but that is not the problem. The problem is she mumbles and does not speak clearly at all. She took a somewhat basic and easy to understand class and turned it into a jumbled mess of unorganized lectures. Her handwriting is atrocious and completely unreadable. She cannot seem to get a point across no matter how hard she tries. I know you read a lot of these reviews and many of them are contradictory, but just look at her overall rating... DO NOT TAKE BERBER. If it is the only chem left, DROP IT, and take a different teacher next quarter. If you do what I did, and think you can tough it out, you will be kicking yourself afterwards.

Dr. Berber obviously knows what she was doing, she just hads absolutely zero ability to convey this information to the students. She is friendly and tries to help, but this is often of no use, if not more confusing. Her lessons are incomprehensible and teach nothing. Moreover, the book is of little use in clarifying any concepts she decided to cover. Dr. Berber has a predisposition to spend very short amounts of time on actual material, only to base the majority of test materials on that the following day. The most frustrating aspect of the class is the fact that virtually no materials were taught. Assignments and labs are left with virtually zero explanation from either the course materials or the teacher. In order to complete anything, teaching assistants have to be hunted down to explain all the little details that are completely left out in lecture and procedure. Unless you are already quite strong in Chemistry and just need to take a class to get the required credit, you should look to other, more capable teachers.

Berber is a chemist, not a teacher. She knows lots about chemistry and expects you to as well. (including the material she is supposed to be teaching you) Her lectures cover the general ideas about the main topics of the chapters, but all of the specifics, like how to actually solve problems, you pretty much have to figure out on you own. Most of the material you end up teaching yourself. Her tests are hard and timed, but are on the material in the book. If you can teach yourself from the book you can do okay, but if you learn from the lectures find a different teacher.

Berber is a good person for sure, but a horrible teacher. She's nice and cracks jokes, but she can not teach the subject. Many times I would stay at her powerpoints and her instructions wondering why something is like that but she would rush through with no explanation. I know my friend had a much higher average than me by having other teachers. This teacher should be avoided if possible.

I was really scared to take this class-based on bad ratings, early in the morning and i HATE chemistry. but berber was a great teacher. i worked my ass off in her class and she was always ther to help and answer questions. i would recomend her to anyone needing 124. another good thing was she gave out homework every week which made me actually do it and we got a lot of points for it which helped my grade A LOT. take berber she is very helpful and a sweet person who truly wants everyone to succeed

Dr. Jimenez is a very nice person and she "recognizes student difficulties" quite well, but she isn't a very good lecturer, especially with the studio format this class has. This class takes quite a bit of work, especially for a freshman level support course, but she'll work you hard enough to prepare you for the common final. MAKE SURE you talk to her, either by grabbing her during class or going in for her OH. She's a much better teacher one-on-one than she is lecturing to a group. Also...if you happen to have good TAs, use them as well. We had one good TA, and another that came in for a few weeks while our not-so-good TA was sick or something. If you're so lucky, don't be afraid to ask them lots of questions, particularly during the labs.

Berber is the worst teacher I have ever taken in my life! She can't present the material to you worth a damn, causing you to study your chem book for hours to no end, like I did, just to get a decent grade. I learned everything from my book and friends and didn't learn a single thing from her! She's terrible! Here midterms are harder than shit because instead of just giving you problems that test your understanding of the material, she gives the most complex problems ever! It's like she expects you to be a master of chemistry. I barely pulled off a B in the class, only because i did good on the final (which is way easier than here midterms and quizzes). PLEASE, for the love of God, listen to me, if you want a good teacher who will teach at least decently and not cause you to study for hours, DO NOT TAKE BERBER.

Doctor Berber is one of the worst teachers I have had in my life. I guess you could say that I haven't had many because I am a freshman, but considered to my other professors she is terrible. I would read the material before coming to class, and it seemed like I would have to decipher everything she wrote in her lecture notes into a format that I could understand. Her class notes are as comprehendible as a single long, continuous sentence. I really don't know how anyone could think that her ability to present the course materials CLEARLY is anywhere above average. Yes she is a very nice person if you get a chance to talk to her one on one, but her lectures helped me very little. Her accent is thick and may take a few seconds to actually understand. Furthermore, she seems like the kind of person who doesn't really look at the big picture in life. She seems to ramble on in lectures about things that we never even see on tests. SHE ALSO TENDS TO LECTURE ON NEW MATERIAL FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF BEFORE SOME OF HER EXAMS. This has proven to be a great way to help forget everything one has studied and ensure a low exam score. I do not know how she could even think of doing something like this to her students without considering the consequences. The labs are easy, but you may get some points off because you didn't know that something written in her lab report was actually a question. She will have something like "stacking pattern" written in a box with a very little box next to it. Below "stacking pattern" is another large box saying "draw diagram". The stacking pattern is given earlier in the problem (the problem is actually labeled Simple Cubic, which is the stacking pattern), so it would be redundant for us to write it again... i lost 3 points on this lab due to this error, which moved the lab grade from an A to a B. It's the little things like this that she neglects in her teaching style which add up and easily lower one's grade. I truly think that she should consider another profession.

My class average was a 63%. Expect a B.

I took Prof. Berber for Chem 124, a support course for engineers. The way Chem 124 is set up, your lab isn't at a different time from your lecture, they just sort of run together. That was nice because then you only have to go to class three times a week, and you don't have to go for a three hour lab another day, however, we would have 2 days with 2.5 hours of class, and 1 day with 1 hour of class. On the two long days, 1.5 hours were suppose to be lab. Prof. Berber would lecture for a straight 2.5 hours one day, and then we would do the lab another. I understand that this is normal for Chem studio, but it got very boring. I would walk out of class after 2.5 hours and feel as though I learned nothing. Her notes were not very clear either. It would take awhile to decipher them, and by that point she would be on another part of her lecture and you couldn't really go back and ask her then. At least she arranged for her TAs to be at Open Studio Thursday nights, and I would go and I feel as though I would learn more from them in 2 hours than in the 5 hours I had been in class earlier that week. Also, our class average was in the high sixties range. I believe we had 1 A in our entire section of 64 people. You'd figure that out of 64 people, more would have A's. The majority of the class recieved a C, and we had to work our butts off for those C's. One thing though, that by the end she realizes that she has a really low class average, and so she gives away points the last week or two. We had a quiz, and then we graded it ourselves, and she basically said that we were all expected to get A's, and the TA's weren't going to check our scores at the end. So she helps you out in the end. Another note on her lectures: she is not very clear in ANY of her directions. We had a lab the first day of class on solubilities. She then proceeded to tell the class we only had to write the reactions for the ten solubilities we studied, and then five minutes later said that no, we had to write all forty reactions. I went up to her after class and asked if we had to write all forty, and she said "No, just the ten you did." One of the other kids in my cluster went and asked her the same thing right after me, and she said "Yes, do all forty." So, she either can't make up her mind or isn't very explicit in her instructions.

Berber is a very interesting women and I really liked her as a person but here class was really hard to follow. At first I though that accent was the problem but I really dont think that was it. Lecture was hard to follow and really boring. The most irratating thing was when we had a midterm and she would lecture for about an hour about things not on the midterm and then we would have to take the test. It was distracting and frustrating. The class is diffinitely do-able especially if you read the book and do all the worksheets and book problems.

First of all, I have to point out that I am not very gifted in the area of Chemistry. I find the topic to be difficult and not too interesting to me. As for Professor Berber, she was a decent teacher. At first, it's hard to understand her accent, but that just takes a little time to get used to. The classes are pretty big, and if you sit at the fringes of the class, you have a low chance of hearing her, so try to sit close. She is very friendly and approachable and helpful in office hours, so if you need that extra help, go to her. Her tests were fairly reasonable and she did a good job at giving you a heads up on what was going to be on it. One thing that was kind of annoying, since the class is set up to have the lecture and lab back-to-back, Berber would sometimes convert the lab to lecture and you would end up sitting through over three hours of lecture. Not too fun to try and stay awake in. Overall, for this kind of class, Berber wouldn't be too bad of a teacher to take.

Berber is a horrible teacher. She knows chemistry but cannot relay the information at all. Its hard to learn sitting through 2 1/2 hour lectures. The tests stray far from the material taught in class and are graded harshly. If you are taking chemistry make sure you stay away from Berber, or plan on studying way to much for a class that does not deserve it.

Berber is absolutely horrible. Her teaching skills are definitely lacking, and its not because of the heavy accent. The thick communication barrier takes a while to get used to, and makes you think thats why the class is hard, but once you get used to her horrid accent, you will realize she cant teach at all. Her exams are extremely detailed, and shes an extremely hard grader. I saw tests from other chem professors and every one else was getting and easy ride.

IF YOU VALUE YOUR GPA AND YOUR TIME DONT TAKE BERBER...first of all the accent takes a while to get used to, then there's her little mannerisms and mutterings. she has trouble explaining the material to the students in a way that they can understand. like others have written before me, she's a chemist not a teacher. the two and a half hours of lecture become pointless after a while because by the end of the quarter mostly everyone has fallen asleep at least once during the lectures. i cant say anything about the study hours because they were during another class.

AHHH what can I say AHHH... This class was a total nightmare. The class is supposed to be half lecture half lab, but she makes it so u go through a whole 2 hours of lecture then maybe a lab for like 10-15 minutes. You can barely understand her with her heavy accent and the constant Ahhh's after every sentence. Quizzes come weekly so you pretty much study all the time for this class. Tests are impossible and way too comprehensive, she makes you have to review EVERYTHING that you learned before that to the very last detail. The questions weren't straight forward, you would have to really know your stuff. Basically avoid taking Berber if you value having a social life and a good GPA.

this teacher is horrible, she does not present the material in any more simply than the book. I learned most of my things through the book, and nothing from her. If your looking for a teacher from hell, than Berber is for you

She is definitely helpful and extremely approachable. Her lectures cover everything you need to know about the course. I didn't even read the book and I got a pretty good grade. Just make sure you study your notes and the handouts for the tests and quizzes and you'll do an excellent job. Whenever I did study from my notes and the handouts I would get the highest score.

She is very nice and easy to talk to in office hours. But when she is in the room teaching to everyone else that really diminshes. She has trouble with giving all of the required information. But if you take the time to go to office hours and show her you are working hard, she will reward you in the end. She had a nice curve, I got an A- with an 85% so it wasn't too bad. If you have recently taken some chemistry from high school or really had a good chem teacher than 124 should be pretty easy. The material follows exactly like the AP Chem material did. So if you know that then not challenging at all. Many people say 124 is difficult, but you need to ask questions and you won't have to worry about anything. There are 3 tests, and 5 or 6 quizzes. The material is from the notes, but some of the true/false and multiple choice is from the reading. So it would be wise to do that. The final is common and all multiple choice, but most people complain about the difficulty of the multiple choice so its really dependent on each person. Overall the class is alright, if your stuck with something she will help you through it step by step, she is really helpful. My one piece of advice is to get a good lab partner. Someone who knows chem, I was decent at it and somethings came easier than others, but my lab partner was not great at chem, so I felt like I was pulling him along through the quarter. So when you go in on the first day, figure out who knows what there doing. I would recommend her, if you don't mind doing some work for yourself than you should be fine.

Overall nice proffessor but I can only blame myself for not doing my hw, labs and most importantly studying...argh i shoulve dropped that class. yeah she does do those occasional ahhh & they r annoying but u'll get used 2 it. i just recommend studying hard 4 this class if u r not science material.

124 was a challenging course for me, especially since my high school chem class was a joke so I had very little background in chem. The class is fast paced and builds upon stuff you are expected to already know, so if you took AP chem in high school you are probably going to have a much better time than i did. Overall, Berber was a decent professor. I would highly recommend going to her office hours, not just before exams but regularly because she explains things much better one on one. She is an extremely nice lady and willing to help you out. The three midterms weren't too bad, but the final was difficult mostly because it wasn't like any of our past exams. You may want to consider a different professor if you aren't comfortable with chemistry, because judging by friends i had in different chem classes, Berber's class was probably the most difficult.

Berber is extremely hard to understand. That alone makes it very impossible to learn in the lectures. Her handwriting also sucks so when she writes notes on the overhead you can't understand anything. The tests are not too bad if you study hard. I think I got an A on the first and then the rest Bs. Labs aren't too hard to get a high score. There is an excel project at the beginning of the year that is worth quite a bit and you should talk to her about it to make sure that you get it 100%. I don't recommend Berber at all. Chemistry already sucks and when your teacher speaks Spanish it's even worse.

Though the class was tough, she taught pretty well and lectured about everything we needed to know. The lab was pretty interesting as well. Though she has an accent, she's pretty easy to understand, and seems to be one of the better Chem teachers.

Take anyone else if you can. Hard to understand. Doesn't prepare you. Doesn't teach you. Fail every test, but somehow you get a C-, which is good, but doesn't prepare you for Chem 125.

She's ok. Shes gets kinda hard to follow, and doesnt explain things all that great, but shes nice, and willing to help you if you need it. Class is pretty straight forward. No wierd grading or anything. Go to class and try and you'll do fine.

Berber is not a very good professor. She will rush through notes and often times you will have to teach yourself some of the material. Does not explain anything. Will just throw the answer out there and that's it. I recommend taking someone else.

Good teacher. Sometimes she'd rush through notes but she's helpful in office hours and will do what she can if you ask for help. If you are not willing to ask for help you better study. Make sure to do the online quizzes she posts because if you do badly on the paper quiz, she'll average the two scores (good grade booster) and it's really good practice.

I don't know why Berber has such a low polyrating... she's not the best professor at Poly, but she's decent. Believe me, there are worse chem professors you can get! Sometimes the material is hard to understand and admittedly she doesn't do the best job explaining it, but you can pass her quizzes and tests from the practice problems she puts online. You just might have to read the book a bit to nail the harder questions. She is a pretty lenient lab grader, and has a very generous curve at the end of the class, so combined with an easier-than-average final, you should do alright.

i really liked berber because she was amazing in office hours. she was always available and always knew how to clarify things that were confusing to me in lecture. we had a quiz every friday and she put up practice quizzes to help us prepare for it. if we got a higher score on the practice online quiz than the actual paper quiz, she would average the two. her midterms were easy but the chem final was only hard because it was all multiple choice. shes also really easy to talk to, not intimidating at all. take her.

I thought Berber was a very good teacher. If you pay attention in class and do some practice problems, this class is not hard. Berber makes everything very clear and she always tells you what will be on each test/quiz. She's also very nice and willing to help with any problems you may have. I don't know why her rating is so low... I thought she was really good!

Dr. Berber is a very helpful and friendly professor who is always willing to help if your having problems in the class. Her lectures could be a little boring sometime, but she was always very helpful at office hours. As long as you read the book and understand all of the assigned HW problems, then tests are very easy. Labwork was very easy too as long as you simply follow directions. Some people say here accent makes her hard to understand sometimes, but i never thought it was an issue. All in all good teacher.

she was a great teacher...she taught it so well, i didnt really like chem that much and she made it easy enough so i could follow it, I failed the final and had a D+ going into it but some how i came out with a C she is great, i would definitly recommend her for chem 125.

Berber is a decent professor. If you really want to learn anything and get her on your side you have to go to office hours. She will look out for those who are willing to help themselves. In saying that, don't be afraid to ask questions, the faster she learns your name, the more generous she is on you tests. The class has quizzes weekly and 3 midterms. There are study guides on the web and you should probably ask her about specifics for each of the tests, because she has been known to change things at the last minute. The class is alright, while there are some challenging sections early on in the quarter, you just have to see her in office hours. The labs will help your grade so make sure you do well on them and look at her website as a source to make sure they are correct. One thing that I didn't like, was the fact that we were the only 125 class to have a diagnostic quiz. The average came out to be 9/20, which hurt everyones grade, so be careful of that. If it hadent of been for that one quiz I think it would of been possible to get an A in the class.

Dr. Berber, although a seemingly knowlegable professor, was an awful teacher. I struggled to understand what she was saying in lecture, and had a difficult time paying attention to her unorganized lectures. Her tests often covered material that she failed to cover in her lectures, and although I did all of the assigned problems in the book, they did not help me either. I went into her office hours frequently, but she seemed to only confuse me more.I feel that I got nothing from the class. My advice is to avoid her, unless you have a really strong chemistry background to fall back on.

Dr. Berber isn't the best teacher I have ever had, but I did really like her. I know that people always feel differently about their professors if they do well in the class, but I think that I would have liked her either way. It is kind of hard to get past her accent, but she REALLY loves chemistry and REALLY loves teaching and you can tell. It makes it much more fun to go to class when you know that the teacher wants to be there too. I never went to her office hours, but I have heard she is really accomodating. I know that most people don't rate her well, but if you have a good chem background, she REALLY is great. Her tests are totally fair, nothing that you wouldn't have seen before. Also, she TOTALLY curves the class. I would definitely recommend her!

she has hard tests, but curves them well. She also has an accent, but I got use to it without any trouble. She gave out practice tests (a plus!) and knew everyones name in our big lecture (very impressive), however, sometimes she hard a hard time explaining the more difficult concepts.

Wow look at all these bad ratings; honestly, it's prolly all of these incoming freshmans that should not be in engineering. 75% of the incoming students are probably going to switch out of engineering by the time they reach their major courses. Berber is a really good lecturer and her tests are easy. Quizzes are easy too, as she tells you what you have to study for beforehand. If you do the voluntary homework then the class should be no problem. If anyone has trouble with this class, then engineering is not for you.

The material for chem 129 isn't very hard but lola made it unnecessarily difficult. she has an extremely heavt accent that is hard to understand during lecture, and because of the language barrier (she grew up in mexico) she has difficulty understanding students' questions. she is, however, helpful during office hours and willing to answer any questions, which you will have many of if you want to do well in this class. she assigns some problems outside of class, but it's never collected (but helps on the tests). i would encourage anyone to never take lola for a class, everyone in my class had the same view on her tests and teaching ability: they pretty much sucked. it's hard for me to even call her a teacher. i taught myself out of the book, and that's probably why i didn't fail. i'd take anyone over her, or take it another quarter when she's not teaching the class.

Lola is not a good teacher at all. I had her for both 127 and 129. I admit I didn't study very hard in 127, but she is still awful. She doesn't explain anything clearly and you mine as well plan on teaching yourslef EVERYTHING. Her accent is not a bg deal at all, she just can't teach. She is a nice person, just not a teacher. I had Dr. Neff and not only did I get a better grade, but I actually learned something. I recommend you do everything in your power to get another teacher

she cannot teach at all. she is very noledgeable about chemistry but she cant relate the infromation that you need to know for the class. she needs to take a class in teaching. her testing methods are the worst at cal poly. the questions she ask on the test are nothing like what she lectures on or gives in her handouts. my advice avoid her at all cost. take maxwell or sylvestery. shroyer is the best lab instructer for the class. Berber should only be teaching a lab not lecture!!!!!!!

I thought Dr. Berber wasn't that bad. She has an accent, but it's not hard to understand. I thought she did a very thorough job of explaining everything, and she would answer any questions you had. She is very down to earth with the students and seems to know what we have difficulty with. She gave our class 4 midterms and dropped the lowest. The final was definitely the most difficult part of the class, it covered everything and I think that's why I got a B+ rather than an A. Overall, organic chem is hard, but I would recommend Dr. Berber.

i liked her as a person. i hated her as a prof. i could not understand her half the time during lecture. her accent does NOT bother me at all. it's the slurring and mumbling that i couldn't get thru. four midterms at 100 pts each (lowest score dropped), one final at 150 pts, weekly hw at 50 pts total, and 100 pts from lab. 90% of the material i learned, i learned two days before the final from the book and handouts (all adapted from dr. simek--try to get him if you can).

Dr. Berber was definitely NOT the best choice for me for lab. She was very difficult to understand and she was expected you to remember the most trivial things from previous labs on the lab quizes. As far as the actual labs went she was basically uninvolved since you have to do everything yourself.

I had heard organic chemisty horror stories so I was very nervous for this class. I am not very good at sciences either so that added to my anxiety! I had Dr. Berber for lab and she is seriously the reason I did not fail this class. She is very friendly and helpful in lab. Just ask for the help if you need it. She really cares about her students and she helped me with all of my lecture questions. She sat down with me for an hour and a half going over all my lecture notes with me and she wasn't even my lecture professor. She explains things very well, and will always claify what she means. I think she explained polar bonds to me four times, seriously. So my advice is to go to her office hours and ask questions! She really wants her students to succeed which is what a professor should want! Good Luck with all your science classes!

She is an awsome professor. Lectures before lab are informitive and very helpful(I learned more from those than my actual lecture). She makes lab fun and helps most with their overall grade. Her quizzes are pretty tough, but anyone that can read the manual will do fine. Ask her questions! She will tell you the answer promptly and clearly.

I took 3 quarters of general chemistry before I had Dr. Berber for my o-chem lab, and I would have to say it has been the best lab class I have taken. She is an extremely helpful and lovable professor. Her accent takes a little getting used to at first, but after a while I ended up liking it. She likes to talk about life and random things during lab if you ever have down time, which I see as an excellent quality in a professor. Don't listen to the rest of these idiots who posted here. They're just pissed off freshmen who don't know how to study yet.

I learned that if I were to take up hunting, I should shoot deer, not bears, because a bear will hunt me back if I successfully wound it. Fascinating! I didnt know that the key to production and operations management was so brutally simple!
