DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Greco is on a complete high horse and takes her class way too seriously. She's very strict on grading, yet most of the time is unclear about what she wants done on assignments. Her midterms are all online which isn't awful but they take forever and don't relate much to what we talk about in class at all. It also doesn't matter how well you memorize your speech, you won't get above a B. On top of that she's always late, yet will make you feel terrible if you show up a minute after her. Seems like she'd be a cool person to be friends with outside of class, but definitely not someone you want teaching, you especially for a GE. Oh, and she never replies to emails despite saying she checks every night. She literally had a fight with one of the girls in my class about it and still denied that the girl sent her one even when she showed it to her. Basically she's always right and you're always wrong.

I would strongly recommend against taking Professor Greco. She is strict, condescending, and sometimes even cruel. Her arrogance and feigned intelligence make it very difficult to give her any respect. She gives every speech a B with no feedback or marks on the rubric. She will also give you lots of impromptu speeches and painful activities. Midterms are online. I can see why public speaking is important but this class is not worth anyone's time. Avoid it.

A lot of people on Polyratings say that a class is too hard or not to take this course. However, Professor Greco is different. Professor Greco will make you want to remove your tongue so you will never have to communicate again. To name just some of her traits: unorganized, belittling, dishonest, unfair, rude, and absolutely detestable to the highest degree. One thing that you will have to prepare yourself for when taking this class is putting in twice the work as those taking coms with a different professor, and getting only half the grade. Her grading procedure has no consistency to it, and her tendency to never reply to emails makes it impossible to ask any questions outside the classroom. To boot, if you accuse her of not replying to an email, she will lie and say that she never received them. All in all, a terrible professor. It would be worth waiting a quarter and taking coms at a different time than to go through this little slice of hell.

Professor Greco was actually pretty nice and seemed like she wanted to help; however, information presented was not always clear and she graded pretty harshly.

Alright. This is the most accurate evaluation you're going to get about Greco. As a person, she is very very nice. I really enjoyed speaking with her. With that being said, she is a rambler. She can go on talking about something that has nothing to do with anything for HOURS, and she does that often during class and on the days that I didn't feel like doing anything, that is nice. However, her rambling makes it RIDICULOUSLY hard to actually LEARN anything! She grades outlines really harshly so do those well. Practice your speeches a lot because she doesn't like when you read off your note cards. The midterms suck. The final is really easy. Her classes consist of busy work so thats easy. Buy the book and you should be fine. If you don't have too many options for COMS teachers, take her class. Its tolerable and she is nice.

Alright... So never in my life have I truly had a problem with a teacher. Most students dislike teachers because they got a poor grade or the teacher actually expected them to try. This is NO THE CASE in Greco's class (I ended up with a B after working my ass off). I've never been an amazing speaker but I wouldn't say I was ever nervous or bad at it. But this class changed EVERYTHING I felt about public speaking. She was absolutely terrifying. Which is the exact opposite of what a coms teacher should be! I literally had nightmares multiple times about giving speeches in her class. Before each speech I would be physically shaking, along with the ENTIRE CLASS. Not to mention that she has also got to be the rudest self absorbed person to ever work at Cal Poly. Her class consisted of her rambling on about herself and her "italian sass" which in reality was her just being rude and all around awful. And if she wasn't talking about herself she was yelling at people when they said "um" or "uh" ever, regardless if it was in a private conversation or giving an answer to the entire class. But with all that nagging you think she would be great at responding to emails, but no. Not ONCE did she reply to the 20+ emails i sent over the quarter, and nothing on her poly portal EVER will work. But the worst part, you can only miss ONE CLASS. She docks your grade major points if you miss more than that and you can't afford to lose them considering she will give you a C on every speech. I would spend weeks on a speech and she'd give me a C+ every time (other kids in different coms would spend 1 day and get an A) . And that was a good grade compared to most. So, basically you have to show up everyday, which was THE most painful thing of my quarter (worse than VG's). In short, IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR SANITY DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

I pretty much agree with everyone else on here. I don't think she even gave anyone an A in her class. She will tell you that your speech was awesome and have nothing bad to say about it but still give you a B. She was extremely condescending, never replied to emails, unclear with instructions, and overall terrible. During many of the classes, which were 2 hours long, she spent at least half an hour talking about herself or her boyfriend and we weren't allowed to leave even though it was not at all worth out time. She sometimes forgot to tell us instructions or when something was due, but she thought she did and didn't believe us when we tried to tell her. I already said this but SO CONDESCENDING.

After reading the reviews, I had to defend Prof. G. I was terrified to take this class, yet because of her, I could see my improvement. She is tough, no doubt about it, but fair. It's pretty obvious that she cares and wants you to improve. If she was easy, I know I would have slacked. She pushed my class, with impromptus and super fun activities. I always felt like I would be challenged and learn something new. So rather than crying about getting a B, maybe you should have done what she asked. I did and earned an A.

I am going to be completely honest about this course and Greco. Overall she was a nice person, a bit intimidating at times, but still nice. When it came to the actual class though...that was a whole different story. She ALWAYS showed up late, but would get upset if a student was late one. She was never clear on instructions. One time in our class she said she would put the instructions on Polylearn, but she never did. We came back to class and told her that and she tried to give everyone who didn't do the assignment a zero....when it wasn't even our fault because she failed to post the instructions for the assignment! Overall the class was extremely difficult and not worth the time. My roommate took COMS 101 at the same time as me with an easy professor and earned an A putting in less work than I did!

I have been waiting all quarter to write this review on Professor Greco and the day finally came. i report DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES UNLESS YOU ARE IN UNDER 10 UNITS. I have never been so stressed out over anything in my life until this class came. I enjoy public speaking, I became more comfortable in it because I was forced to speak in this class. That is about it, I learned absolutely nothing and did so much busy work. It made high school look like an even more joke than it already was. There was way too much work for a General Ed. course that nobody cares about. She also made us pay $24 just to take attendance on top hat every class. She failed to tell us that we could just text a free number every time. Personally when I gave my speeches, I always looked at her and saw her yawning throughout the whole speech. Public speaking isn't a class that many people like at Cal Poly, and she is the most intimidating teacher of all time for a subject that people need to be comfortable in the most. There was absolutely no time to reboot, it was a constant flow of BS projects and filling out outlines and writing essays about my experience for each speech. Nobody takes the PSA seriously. Everyone lies on the entire process because it would take you a day or two if you did it legitimately. There are two online tests and the answers are all online so don't even bother studying She will never respond to your email, so don't try. My friends and I celebrated my last period in this class because of how much of a burden it was on my classes and just my levels of sanity. The only good thing about this class was that i actually enjoyed talking to Professor Greco, we actually got along quite well. I would not tell my worst enemy to take this class. I was happy to see that she had no Coms 101 courses at Cal Poly next quarter, freshmen lives have no been spared. RIP to anyone who gets blocked into this class, you need to drop it ASAP and take it another quarter no matter what. Good luck.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. I'm going to be honest here, this class was an unnecessary amount of work for a GE. I only got an A because I put all my time and effort towards this class. There were four total speeches, which was fine but with each speech you had to write an outline, then a half page self- critique then have three people evaluate you and fill out forms and then a 2-3 page essay evaluation on each speech. Beyond that were 16 reading reflections that were often long and tedious. There were two online tests as well as four writing assignments that really were not necessary for the class. When it comes to Professor Greco though, that's an even worse story. She was often late but of course wouldn't accept tardiness from any students. She would state that she put things on PolyLearn even though she obviously hadn't and then try to dock our points for not completing the assignment even though she never put it up. For example, we were supposed to have a week on an online test yet she never put it up so many of us emailed her and she never replied, then she put up the test less than 24 hours before it was due without even emailing us to let us know. She makes you pay for an 25 dollar app for attendance, and told us we needed it for quizzes too but only used it about half the time for attendance while also taking roll by hand, meaning the app was a waste of money. When it came to office hours, she wasn't there two times when my friend went, and once she even had an appointment with her but showed up forty five minutes late. She would get mad easily and make guys do push-ups if they cursed and would make us get in a U-shape if she got annoyed with side chatter. Also, her grading was unreasonable. She hates giving out A's on speeches, and will mark you down for almost anything. She marked me down for using my notecards just "okay", yet I didn't even use notecards so she clearly wasn't watching my speech. Overall, Greco should not be a professor, end of story.

You're going to want to jump off the top floor of your dorm hall if you have Greco. She is the most unorganized, conceited, rude professor you could possibly get. She complains about dragging her "super heavy" rolling bag thing all the way to class from the parking lot, so she doesn't print out our papers for us, but instead makes us all go print our own so we can go over it in class. She DID NOT make me a better speaker at all. If anything, she made me even more terrified of public speaking. It is unnecessary to be spending as much time on a GENERAL ED. as you would be required to to pass her class. She also talks about her life a lot which would make us run low on time, then threaten to hold us back because WE wasted class time. I could go on for pages about Greco. She reminds me of a straight vampire, literally sucking the life out of me. Just don't do it.

Greco is the prime example of a horrendous teacher. I repeat. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. This class was filled with ridiculous, time-consuming assignments that would often take more time than most of my other classes. For every speech, she makes you write a 5 page reflection, tedious outline, and present to three different people who would assess you. On top of that, she made you buy a $24 app just for attendance, in which you could of just texted the code instead. We learned about "listening effectively", yet throughout my speeches, she would yawn and never make eye-contact. The only time she did look interested and make eye-contact, is when someone messed up. The irony... She never gives above a B+ on the speeches and fails to tell you how you can improve. I worked my ASS off on every speech, memorized it perfectly, and followed the guidelines, yet never received above a B. Long story short, Greco makes you feel like a runover cat.

I tried to go throughout the quarter as objectively as possible, having already read the negative reviews. With that said, it wasn't long after the third week before I began storing things away for me to write on PolyRatings to hopefully spare the next incoming class. I did get an A, but as we speak and final grades are already up, the professor has not updated my final grade, on a mistake that she made, and won't email me back about. In her syllabus, her "email policy" declares she will email back within 48 hours. What a joke... Of the 6+ times I have emailed her, she has emailed me back once. For a woman so stuck in her ways, she sure doesn't stick to the rules she declared in that fat packet of papers. Multiple times, she would tell us that she was going to update PolyLearn, but never did. When we brought it up, she would act like she couldn't believe we would dare to object to her and demand us to have a screenshot to prove to her that the situation was valid. There are 4 speeches, and each requires 3 evaluations from peers, a 1/2 page self-critique, a 2-3 page paper on the experience, 4-5 page outline, 6-7 slide PowerPoint and a mountain of stress. Each week, there are an average of 2 assignments based on the textbook: amounting to over 2000 words each week...ridiculous. My roommates would laugh in disbelief on the amount of work she assigned. And after all of that, the cherry on top of the sundae was on the last day of class when she handed out suck-up "thank you" notes to us right before we gave her an evaluation, in which she didn't leave the room, mind you. Morale: if you have to take 6 years to graduate Cal Poly, it'll still be better than taking Professor Greco.

Honestly I was so excited to take this COMS class, but when I started attending it, my mind changed. Greco gives a horrendous amount of work. The process to finish one speech takes so long because she makes us write the outline, then we have to present it to 3 other people and write a half page about how we felt, and then write a 2-3 page evaluation of the experience as a whole. Also when she grades speeches, she's not clear. She has a rubric but doesn't even mark on the page to tell us what we did right or wrong. For a communincation professor, she sucks at communicating; she doesn't reply to emails half of the time and she also doesn't reply to her messages on Kakao (a messenger app) until last minute. She makes it clear that we can't be late class, but shows up late herself. When she says assignments are due, she doesn't post the link to turn it in on PolyLearn and then turns it around on the students saying its our fault that we didn't turn it in on time. Overall, this class made me more scared of public speaking. I would get anxiety before every speech because she's an intimidating professor. I don't think anyone should have to go through the pain, stress, and anxiety that comes with this class. My classmates were the one thing that kept me alive in this class because they're just an awesome bunch of people!

Don't even get involved with this teacher. I don't even like saying her name. She was so unclear and even if you asked for clarification she would give you virtually the same answer and expect you to know what she is talking about, and if you ask multiple times to try and get the information you want she'll start to get frustrated that you don't know what she is talking about. Honestly, i should be doing my reading reflection for her class right now but i am so frustrated with how pointless it is that I'm trying to find every way possible to bash on her so no one has to take her pointless class. Hope this helped.

I learned that if I were to take up hunting, I should shoot deer, not bears, because a bear will hunt me back if I successfully wound it. Fascinating! I didnt know that the key to production and operations management was so brutally simple!
