I liked Shiblee. He's a new professor at Cal Poly, so people probably were scared to sign up for a new instructor's class but he was helpful. Here's some things to know about his class: -He was VERY good at explaining things. His office hours are very worth your time - chem is a hard class. He also said outright he would be more lenient on grading if you went to a lot of office hours. -His 5 Quizzes are VERY important (30% of grade) -The First Midterm (there are 2 and a final) was the hardest test (very hard) in the class. But the rest of the tests were markedly easier -There is extra credit on every test/quiz - 10 percent possible - but no curve on any tests except the final.

He is a good professor. As long as you do the homework, though it is not due, you will be fine. I got a C on the first midterm and was still able to recover. Really nice guy.

Last quarter was his first time teaching so I expected him to not be very good. I was very surprised at how how much he actually cared about his students and if we understood the material. He offers a lot of help in his office hours, including explaining the entirety of the labs that we did. He's funny and a very easy going guy. I would definitely recommend this class for people that need a lot of interaction with the teacher to understand the class.

Shiblee is a really awesome professor. He's super good at explaining things. He is super young and relatable and funny. He even rapped for our class. There is a 10% extra credit opportunity on the quizzes, midterms, and final which makes the class hard to fail. I recommend him!

Shiblee is a great guy and I suggest taking his class. I had him for both lecture and lab, and it was awesome getting to learn from someone young who can relate to us students and be so understanding. All of his quiz questions are directly from the suggested practive problems, so those who took the time to complete them had no problem succeeding. Also, every quiz and test has a 10% bonus question opportunity, that was usually directly or at least very close to a sample or practice problem. Shiblee was not the BEST at lecturing during class, but if you have a question, he will thoroughly answer and explain either in class or office hours. Overall, I am very glad that I had Shiblee and even took him again for CHEM 128 by choice.

Shiblee is a pretty cool guy. He is very helpful during class and office hours and he explains things pretty well during lecture. He has extra credit on every quiz and exam which is really helpful. He also has suggested homework problems that he directly uses for quiz and exam problems. So you pretty much just have to do the suggested problems and you are set. But just know, he talks really really fast, but its okay he does post his lectures on line. However I had a wonderful time in his class.

Shiblee is a great professor. He is extremely fair when it comes to test and quizzes. There will never be something on a test or quiz that he hasn't covered in class or in the practice problems he assigns. I feel like I have a very strong grasp on chemistry after having him as a professor.

Shiblee is one of my favorites. I wish I had him for math - actually - for everything. He's REALLY good at explaining things, both in lecture and in office hours. I highly recommend this guy. I was SICK for a TWO WEEKS and he was really understanding and helped me catch up AND let me skip the labs that I missed and didn't make me lose points. He doesn't curve until the end of the quarter. I got a D on the second midterm and still was able to recover at the end. He genuinely cares about his students succeeding.

Shiblee is the homie; he gives a generous curve as well as is straight forward in what is required for quizzes, labs, and exams. For both the quizzes and exams he gives you a problem list from which he sometimes directly chooses and puts on. Stay current with practice problems and you'll do great in the class!

Best Teacher I've had at Cal Poly. Super nice and makes Chemistry exciting. A true gem in the Chemistry department. He curves his class and all of his exams and tests are fair. He also helps a ton with the lab reports and he will break them down for his students. Take him if you get the chance. I seriously considered switching from Biomedical Engineering to Chemistry after taking his class.

Dr. Barua is great at presenting information, but I am convinced that he absolutely loves the sound of his own voice. He would not shut up even when giving us time to do practice problems. Seriously how are we supposed to focus if he's asking every 3 seconds if we found the answer yet?? Besides that, he does know what he's talking about, so if you can stand to listen to his voice and attend lecture, you will do fine. The test format is a bit strange (at least it was to me), but the questions are straightforward and you just have to clearly label where your answers are located. He gives partial credit too, which is nice. Definitely do the practice problems since the quizzes and tests are pretty much the same. TLDR; go to class and do the practice problems. resist the urge to punch him for never shutting up.

Missed the first day, went to the second day. Went to the midterm. Went to the Final. Three days of class total. I got a B, easy. This kind of shit gives our school a bad name.
