Professor Gill is an unprofessional, condescending teacher who seems like she's only teaching the class to gloat about her sales achievements. I was confused on an assignment so I thought that going into her office hours would help. As I walked in the door, I politely said "Hey professor Gill." She responded by turning around and saying, "What do you want." I tried to ask her a question about the assignment but all she did was ask me rhetorical questions with a demeaning tone until I left even more confused than before.

Overall I spent more time on this class than any other I am taking this quarter. The work load is intense and consists of busy work. It is not hard, but it is very time consuming. Gill is unclear about assignments and due dates. You never really know what is expected of you. Gill grades fairly however if you have any questions or concerns forget it. She is very condescending and will leave you more confused than you came in. I would avoid taking this class if possible.

Paige Gill is obsessed with her old job at Dow. She brings it up at least 10x a lecture and it is in no way relevant to the topics you will be discussing in class. If you ever need help outside of class you better make a friend because she is even less helpful in office hours. If you want to email her with questions she will either 1. give you a one word response or 2. not respond at all. Overall, this class was a waste of my time.

Don't be fooled by my grade, that was my own fault for not turning in one of the most important assignments of the quarter. Professor Gill has extensive knowledge on not only the sales industry, but the agriculture sales industry (obviously). Sure, lectures can get boring and a lot of the stuff is common sense, but all in all she does make your time worth while. She even prints out her power point slides for everyone with all of the important material highlighted. Grades are based on two midterms (they're exactly what is on the power point slides), a few short homework assignments, a project, and a final. The project is simple, you find a local salesperson to shadow on a sales call and write an analysis on the experience based on the rubric. The final is "learn by doing" based and she helps you with it throughout the quarter. You pick a product and then do a role play sales pitch to professional sales people.

Gill was one of the most down to earth professors I've had yet. She creates examples that relate to college students and is very helpful during office hours. Her homework (although not given often) is graded rather harshly, so I would recommend going in during office hours or creating a study group with some friends from the class. She had in class assignments every thursday where you would basically get points just for showing up and would get let out extremely early. She was very clear during lectures and provided us with packets that had every single powerpoint slide on them to make it easy to follow along. The biggest downside to Gill's class were her two midterms and final. I studied very hard for all three and the averages for the class were super low. She gives you a study guide but I feel that it did not adequately prepare me for any of the tests. Overall, I would definitely recommend her for this course and she is a super personable lady.

Gill is such a chill professor who seems like she doesn't care about anything but don't let that fool you. She formats her class pretty easily, where in my class she had three exams and dropped one. There were participation points which were really easy and some difficult homework problems for the exams that she will give you the answers to if you go to her office hours. The first exam was easy, and I had an easy B+ all year, but the second and third exam were really tough. She said her usual averages were around a C- or D. She lets you out 30 minutes early everyday and seems really chill but makes her exams pretty difficult and I heard that she doesn't drop an exam anymore. I would recommend the other professor that teaches this class because I heard he curves the class a lot more.

I am not sure why Prof. Gill has a high rating. Maybe because this is a freshman level course and people like how she ends class almost an hour early everyday and does not require a large amount of homework/reading outside of class. If that is what you are looking for then this is the class for you, however this doesn't mean you will get a good grade. If you are actually trying to learn the material - which I highly recommend because the concepts learned are used in the majority of AGB classes preceeding i.e. 312, 301, 313, 369, and all the 400 courses - I would recommend choosing anyone else (MacDougall and definitely Dr. Xai). At least in these classes the teachers care about their students and want you to learn! Gill does not give two shits about her students and is possibly one of the worst Prof I have ever had. Classes are extremely boring as she sits and reads her PPt the whole time. She gives zero examples (besides the few on the PPts) and zero class work making the material much more difficult than it needs to be. If you ask her a question she will not know the answer and will have to look through her PowerPoint to 'remember' to then tell you something that will not even help. There are 3-4 homework assignments all of which are pointless and will barely help you do well on the test. Students below say the 3 tests are hard but they really are not - they are very straight forward - she is just terrible at teaching the material making them hard. Same goes for the 3 quizzes. She is also very unpleasant, being nice in class but if you ask her a question outside of class (say in the hour left of class after being let out early) she is extremely rude and makes it seem like you are wasting her time. Going to class is pretty much pointless. You can learn the information and do just as well on exams skipping class and just looking over the PPts on your own time, however you still will not do well on them. In order to do well I recommend watching khanacademy videos and searching on google for practice tests and more examples showing how problems are solved. If you put the time in outside of class it's an easy B/A. Otherwise good luck because only going to class will get you a C if you are lucky.

Terrible teacher. Shouldn't professors know the information they are teaching? Tests are hard and make up 65% of grade. Homework is easy but she is a stickler at grading, make up 20% of grade. Application article takes 30 minutes and is 5%. Quizzes are easy and one is dropped, make up 5% and attendance makes up 5%. Agree completely with the rating below. AVOID.

She's a great Sales Professor as I had her for that too, but Econ was just handled not very well. She was a student as well this quarter so we can't entirely blame her, but i decided to write this because my final is tomorrow and she has yet to put in 3/4 of my grades for the whole quarter so I have no idea what my grade is. She's not a bad professor, but the course needs to be reworked and made much more clear to the students.

Professor Gill doesn't teach a relatively hard course but she makes it nearly impossible to succeed. With only 1-2 homework assignments and 1-2 quizzes, if you do poorly on one you are bound to get highest a C. I do not recommend her.

Gill does give a flying s*** about the class. She ends class an hour early every single day and seems like she's always in a rush to get the hell out of there. I don't know how she was hired as a professor here. Absolutely horrible teacher. Don't take.

I'd agree with the previous comments about Gill not caring about her students or the class. She reads off a powerpoint every class and she doesn't do any examples. 65% of your grade is dependent on three tests which she doesn't prepare the class for. Probably the worst professor I've had at Poly. She looks miserable and seems pissed to be there in class. She's also not a very pleasant sight to look at...

One of the most poorly ran class I have ever experienced. Her grading is slow, class weight is generally unfair, and tests do not follow study guide material.

Overall Professor Gill is a fair but strict professor. The ranking in order of the professors that teach 101 is 1) Higgins 2) Gill/Howard and 3) Schroeter with Schroeter being a definite bottom tier AGB teacher. Professor Gill's lectures often run short and she'll let class out anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes early on a consistent basis in a 2 hr twice a week lecture format. While it is not hard to do decently in her class, it is VERY difficult to get the A the way her class is setup. In a 44 student class the class average was a 76% with 5 A-'s and no flat A's. A lot of this is because she often refuses to give full credit for anything, she seems to doc a point or two on assignment and test questions even if they are exactly as she has them worded in lecture. Her tests (3 out of 4 count so you do not have to take the final if you are happy with your 3 midterm grades) are extremely well geared to the study guides she gives you but will often have one cheap shot question that keeps students who know everything they are told to from getting a perfect score. She however often doesn't give you these study guides until a day or two before which forces you to do all your studying at the last minute unless you want to guess at the material she will test on. There are a few small assignments throughout the quarter which are not difficult if you attend lecture with the exception of hedging later in the quarter which most students struggle with. The final project for the quarter is to make a product sheet that is fairly time consuming and groups are assigned by her. The biggest thing to note with this is that she gives STRONG consideration to the final group member evaluations; students who were rated by their groups mates as doing very little were given 10%, 20%, 30% etc. type scores on a project worth 20% of your overall grade. Overall Professor Gill is unpleasant that she snaps angrily at students who are not devoting attention to her but teaches the material well and is a reasonable teacher which you will not be able to get with Schroeter who is often the only teacher available for 301 in a given quarter. Professor Gill is bad about updating grades throughout the quarter aside from exams but has a fairly straightforward class format so you can guess where you stand easily. She also offers a few extra credit assignments that are easy and worth a fair amount of the grade. Overall you will learn a lot about marketing in Gill's class and it is worthwhile taking her for it. Unless Higgins is available and you are sitting at a high priority to get her, Gill is as good of an option as any for taking AGB 301.
