This is Burnett's first quarter teaching at Poly, so I was a bit scared going into the class. It turns out that he is an amazing professor. In addition to being a super sweet person, he is a professor who really cares about his students and helping them learn the material. The class consists of 1 quiz, two midterms and a non cummulative final. The class itself isn't difficult, but you have to keep up with the material, as is the case with any class. Do that and you're golden. Burnett is the best accounting professor I've ever had and probably will ever have. He is great at explaining material and provides relevant examples to support them without ever going off on useless tangents. He is always available during office hours and provides great help during those as well. Students will definitely benefit from taking him.

I was going to wait until the end of the quarter to give a rating, but I think that people who have the chance should take Burnett! This is his first year at Cal Poly so he's still adjusting the the quarter system, but he is by far, the best accounting teacher that I have taken at Cal Poly. He is very articulate in his lectures and he truly cares about his students. He really wants you to excel and understand the material and is readily available via office hours or e-mail to help you out. Class attendance is not mandatory, but is extremely helpful. He posts all of his lecture notes online, and homework is not graded. He's structured his class like the previous accounting teacher for intermediate so it's 1 quiz, 2 midterm exams, and 1 final. Nothing is cumulative. His grading is more than fair and I think you will find this class to be very helpful as you move onto higher accounting courses.

Burnett is a G. He is a professor who gets it. He knows that we won't be studying until the weekend before and is totally open about that in class. He is on top of his shit like no other. I am a finance student and this one of of the best classes I've ever had. I felt challenged, but at the same time he provided with all the resources necessary in a very clear and concise fashion and it was never a challenge figuring out how to study. You will not regret taking this class. It is clear that he genuinely cares about the students.

Prof. Burnett is AWESOME! There are never any surprises, because he teaches exactly what he tests on. He never assumes the whole class knows something, but rather takes the time to make sure everyone has the same knowledge. He genuinely cares about his students and will help you beyond just class info in his office hours. He's new and still figuring things out, but he is more than happy to share whatever knowledge he can. His in class lecture notes are essential, and the book is just part a necessary evil for doing practice problems. It's a shame he doesn't teach 322, he'd be excellent!

After not taking accounting for about two years or so, I was a bit nervous coming into his class.. but I can honestly say Professor Burnett puts in his time and effort for students to learn the material and is easily available during office hours and through email. Although homework is not collected, I find it necessary to complete in order to truly apply the course topics. The tests were challenging, and just like any other course, if you put in the effort to learn the material and do the assignments, you will do fine :)

Burnett is a fantastic teacher. He is always prepared and actually cares about the students for a change. He is dedicated to making his teaching better and more effective and it certainly shows. The tests are very difficult but straight forward and actually reflect what he taught in class. For 321, Burnett is a must.

Brian Burnett is one of the best professor I have had thus far at Cal Poly. He is a young professor and can easily relate to the struggles students go through. His lectures are very clear and easy to understand; the way he presents the class material allows students to succeed. He enjoys: the material he teaches and answering in questions regarding his lectures and careers. If he wasn't a teacher, I believe he would be a career counselor just because he genuinely cares about the students outcome in the class and your future beyond Cal Poly. The class itself is a bit time demanding because the homework assignments take about 3 hours to do on average but you have a week to do them. My suggestion is once he presents the material then do the homework problems associated to the lecture. He gives out 2 midterms and a final. He provides you with the concepts you need to know and the best way to study for the exams is to know how to do all the problems in his lectures. If you put in the time to understand the material and ask questions then you will be able to get in A in this class. Honestly Brian Burnett is one of the best instructors of material at Cal Poly and I am glad that I took this class with him. I highly recommend taking BUS 321 with Brian Burnett.

Dr. Burnett is the best professor in the whole accounting department! I thoroughly enjoyed attending his classes. He provides excellent notes for you to fill in as he does in class which makes studying very easy. I never read the book once and got an A on every test. The book isn't really necessary unless you don't understand the material in class. Dr. Burnett is also extremely helpful in office hours. He went out of his way to talk to our class about careers in accounting, work-life balance, grad school, and just life in general. He is a great professor, and I really hope to have him again.

Burnett is the best professor I've had in my college career. I took him a couple quarters back but I still have not learned as efficiently in any of my other accounting courses as I did in Burnett's class. He gives students a good framework for learning by allowing us to print notes before coming to class, and letting us fill them in and then compare to his notes which he scans and posts on PolyLearn after class. Burnett is also very open to talking about the accounting field in general and he expresses optimism about our future careers - it sure helped to give me confidence in my career choice in accounting. I highly recommend taking Burnett at least once during your time at cal poly!

Professor Burnett is the most amazing professor I have had at Cal Poly. He genuinely cares about all of his students, and it shows! There are notes to print out for each class session and they are very helpful. Everything on the tests comes out of the notes. I am so happy I got to take him before he leaves for Biola next year!

What the guy/gal below said. Amen. I too took this class and have long since graduated from Poly, but I was cruising Poly Ratings for a kick and thought that I should pipe in and let you know how much of a joke this prof is.
