Loved her. I hadn't taken Spanish since my sophomore year of high school and she made it come back so easily. She grades easy, her tests are almost a joke, and she's super funny and super chill. Just don't use your phone in class, and don't forget to do your online homework, otherwise you're golden!

This quarter was my second class taken with Anderson-Cain, and for good reason! She is such a nice and sweet woman and she is so understanding. She understands that SPAN 103 is still a beginners course so her expectations are not extremely crazy. She speaks in Spanish the entire class but will clarify in English if her students look like deer in the headlights. She's always open to extensions if needed on essays and she's very understanding of absences if doctors notes are provided. You take a Chapter test every other week consisting of only the one chapter's material, the tests consist of an oral section, fill in the blank, multiple choice, short answer, lecture comprehension and then an essay typically at the end. You write two essays over the course of the quarter, both aren't over a page in length, the third composition is just a revision of the first essay. Final consisted of a typical test format, no longer than usual, and then an oral interview that was conducted the week before finals where you show up to class in pairs to answer 3 questions and then you get to be done with class until the final! She is such an awesome professor I would 10/10 recommend taking her course. Such a sweet professor and a really stress free but beneficial class!

Well, if you have never taken a Spanish class before- RUN. I fortunately took six years before her class ( a required one for my major) and it helped a lot. It's supposed to be an introductory class, but she starts day one by teaching in Spanish. How is anyone who doesn't know Spanish supposed to learn what you are saying? They didn't. Some people I know without previous experience got D's because she made it too difficult for them to understand what was being taught. Also, more importantly, besides introducing the basics of the language to students, she was supposed to give our class terms we could use in the agricultural world. It says it in the description for crying out loud. We never learned ANY kind of Agribusiness terminology the whole quarter; she said at the end she'd send out an email with a list of useful terms.... DIDN'T happen. Also... Rosetta Stone. I have nothing against the program except that it is boring and expensive. $90, for just the quarter (and that's with a student discount). She really likes it and expects you to put hours into it every week. If you have her, register as early as possible. Any complications and you're screwed for the quarter. Mine didn't register properly, along with some other students and we ended up starting late halfway through the quarter. It killed my A, I had 98% and not participating as much in that program dropped it to a B. Besides that, she makes classroom participation really easy, and it can be a relatively fun class, if you know Spanish already. She also does a good job with the Hispanic culture portion. The tests are directly what you learn in class and do for homework, so they are easy to study for. OVERALL, I'd say try and get any other professor for this particular 111 class, she's really nice, but not a right fit for Spanish 111. If you know Spanish though, you CAN do really well in the class.

Britt is the bomb! She's super nice and a good teacher. Her tests were always fair and had no unexpected material. She graded fairly on both tests and essays as well. Also, her classes consisted of doing random activities/readings in the book which were all pretty easy. Basically she rocks and you should take her. (and shes recently married so yeah).

Anderson-Cain is great. Her midterms are fair and her expectations for this class are very clear. She is helpful if you go to her office hours and she is willing to explain why she gives you the grade she does. This class isn't much work, and on the online hw if you take it 3 times it gives you the answer the fourth time. Remember that.

Dra Anderson-Cain is a really good teacher! She is very sweet and explains very well. She is a pretty easy grader on essays, and is very understanding if you are not a native speaker. I encourage participation, even if you are not very confident, because she seems to be a lot easier on kids that try hard. The class was kind of weird because it randomly switches around week 7 from grammar and vocab to literature, which was a hard transition. Overall, I highly recommend Dra Anderson-Cain!

Very straightforward class and she is such a sweet professor. There were in-class essays, take-home essays, tests and a small oral interview final.

She's very nice, but I really didn't want to be there. I couldn't test out of it, but I can't complain too much because it was an easy A. Participation and attendance are worth like 10%, so just show up and say anything (sometimes people spoke in English lol) and you'll get credit. The tests are 25% of your grade (there are three) and are mostly grammar, but use some flashcards like an hour before the test just to get the vocab down because there's always a section about that. They take like thirty minutes max and then you get to leave early. There were three in-class essays (worth 15%) that always were about the current chapter, but you don't actually need to know any of the cultural aspects--it's very open-ended and about your own experiences. You can even bring a dictionary or just ask her for a word if you need it. I'm pretty sure everyone got at least 9/10 on all of them without any prep so don't worry. Plus the in-class essays aren't worth very much anyway. Put your effort into the take-home essays. They're worth 25% of your grade and there are three of them but the first two are only one page and the last one is two to three pages on a short story we read in class (which you can easily find in English btw). Basically just spend a few hours the day before writing and editing it. Remember that this is worth the most so actually try on it and flake on the other stuff. She really likes it if you use the grammar she teaches in class. Show off what you know and reap the points my friends. The final is super easy and should be given zero thought unless your grade is borderline. It's only worth 5% and she gives you the questions ahead of time and lets you practice in class. Oh and it will look like there's a lot of online homework, but it's not that bad and is only due every couple weeks. You get unlimited tries, so if you don't get 100% in the homework category you're only hurting yourself, especially since it's 20% of your grade. Take her over Rucci without question

I love Doctora Anderson-Cain!!! She is a very nice person and makes herself super available if her students ever have questions or need help on essays. You can definitely tell she's very passionate about what she teaches. Honestly my favorite Spanish teacher that I've had at Cal Poly!!

Dra. Anderson is very nice and wants to see her students succeed. She presents class material clearly and fuels great discussion around all of the works. However, she is slightly unorganized and it is difficult to follow your progress in the overall course.

Span 301 with Anderson Cain was an OK class. Although the course is supposed to make you a better writer, I don't think she taught us how to write better. Every lecture consisted of answering questions about the reading which was entailed all of Spanish and Latin American history. We would do the reading as we went in class as we filled out the answersto her worksheets. She is super easy to please participation wise. Just raise your hand and say something, it doesn't have to be all that intelligent. You don't have to do the readings to get by in class. Overall I like her as a person and liked how easy the class was. It didn't improve my Spanish very much though. It was basically an easy A with not much enrichment. She made us write small one pagers each week and then half way into the quarter we started to work on an 8 page essay that was due at the end of the quarter. You can write about any topic within Spanish and Latin American history ad she is a very nice grader. She would help correct grammar throughout your whole paper which was great! Overall I wish I had taken a different Spanish class but at least it fulfilled a requisite for my minor.

This professor, while maintaining a very sweet facade, is terrible. I tried to go to her office hours multiple times throughout the quarter, and she was never there. Not only that, she never responded to a single one of my e-mails, and she updated the PolyLearn the night before an assignment was due, forcing me to stay up all night to complete. She does not understand student difficulties in having multiple classes to keep track, she relayed information horrible, and even though she is an easy grader and is "nice", I do not recommend taking a class with her if you want to feel like you're actually learning something.
