She's a nice lady and I'm sure she means well, but dear god her class is SO BORING. She literally just reads off her lecture slides and barely uses any material from the book (which is huge and costs alot!). If you ask her a question and its not on her lecture slides or notes she hesitates and tries to not answer it, she doesn't know the material! AND if you answer a question in a different way/different wording than her, she doesn't give you full credit even though the answer is right!

Nothing personal to DiLeo -- she seems very nice and agreeable -- but this class is incredibly boring. The slides are very wordy and she reads right off of them. Information presented in this course is trivial, yet she is very picky about how she grades short answers. It's ridiculous to the point that paraphrasing a definition will not receive full credit. If you take this class, I recommend staying away from lectures and reading the online slides an hour before the test.

So as far as I understand winter 2013 was professor DiLeo's first time teaching ever, but she has a background in land planning so was able to bring personal experiences to the lecture and material. Overall I think she did a really good job, is very nice, and pretty reasonable. The class was based off 3 written assignments, 2 midterms, and one final (non cumulative). I never read the book and ended up with As on the assignments and high Bs on the midterms. She also offers a lot of extra credit which is nice- literally got 10 points which helped with those Bs on tests. Yes her lectures are a bit boring, but I still went to every one because most of it was pretty interesting. Best advice I can give is do not underestimate her exams. The exams were about half multiple choice/ true and false and then half short answer. Its pretty tough to get full credit on short answers- she wants definitions and facts straight from the lecture/ book. So study the slides and definitely go to the class before the exam because you review by playing jeopardy and those questions give you a really good idea for the test/ some of even on the test. Overall I really enjoyed this class!

Awesome teacher.. If you can her do it! She was formerly a Senior Land Planner with the County of SLO and knows her stuff! Some of the other kids would complain when she could not definitely answer a question but she brought up an important point about Land Planning, IT DEPENDS! There is so much that depends during NEPA/CEQA enactment. But other than that, as long as you study a reasonable amount and go to the lectures, you should do well.

I don't know where all those negative comments came from. She has been nothing but nice and helpful the entire quarter. The class is required for Forestry majors and I believe ENVM as well, and it's not the most exciting material, but it is definitely good to know the process of getting projects approved and all that goes into completing an Environmental Impact Report. She's a good teacher and seems like a good person, I would definitely recommend taking this class with her instead of Vilkitis.

Completely old-fashioned, out-dated, and irrelevant. She was openly critical, sometimes harsh and rude, and boring. Just because she has a background in the field she should not be a qualified university professor. I would not recommend her.
