She knows all of her material very well, but in front of a class with power point, it was extremely dull (also note the fact that we are talking about the environment). I went into her office hours once and she explained things very well one on one, but in front of a class is pretty boring and hard to learn from. Class was on the easier side, a quiz and homework about once a week and final exam average difficulty.

I am studying environmental engineering, and I decided to take ENVE 331 a little earlier on in the flowchart. Having Helene was, overall, a positive experience. I expected the class would be on the easier side, since it was the introduction course, and she made it that way. She delivered well through the powerpoint and answered student's questions to the best of her ability. One thing that was annoying was taking at least 30 minutes out of every lecture to go over and review homework/quizzes. Since most of the calculations were algebra and simple calculus, I found this unnecessary, considering linear analysis is a prereq. for ENVE 331. On the other hand, she has been in water resources and science for a long time, and is a great person to talk to during office hours.
