I can't speak for how he handles more complicated chemistry classes, but when it comes lower level courses he's a mess. All quarter it has seemed as if he really didn't know what he should be teaching us, and relied on Mastering Chemistry to lead us through any actual material. He preaches on and on about doing problems outside of class and then assigns hours of this online work every week as well as leaving you to do most of the labs on your own time, even assigning some labs to do all at home! The worst part is, with all the labs, online homework, and the lecture material, none of it relates to what he expects us to know on quizzes and exams. Cool guy but a bad professor.

Professor Eldridge is a great guy who knows his stuff, but he is not a good professor. His lectures were really hard to follow and not very helpful. The labs weren't explained very well on how they connect, and he looked for tiny details rather than a greater understanding of the concepts. He was helpful in office hours, however it would have been great if the class had been more like his mini lectures than, rather than a jumble of disconnecting ideas on the whiteboards.

Professor Eldridge was a nice guy who obviously knows chemistry very well. Whenever I went into office hours he was very helpful, however when I had a few questions on MasteringChemistry problems, his answer was "oh, we haven't covered that in class yet. Don't worry about that." It seemed too disorganized for me. I went into each midterm not really knowing what we had to know vs what we were told to practice but was actually above our current level. I think (and hope) that he's improving each quarter, but be prepared to put a little more work into this class than you would have to with a more organized professor.

As a professor, Eldridge knows his stuff. As a lecturer, he doesn't quite have it down yet. It may have just been the studio style room of the Baker Science building, I'm not sure, but it felt difficult at times to understand some of his lectures. Overall, the class wasn't too bad and he does give you a heads up for what'll be on each of the three(!) quizzes and three(!) midterms the Monday of that week (since they're on Friday), focusing is just something that'll need to be worked on.

Glenn was an average professor. He definitely knows the material, but is just not a great lecturer. He stands in front of the class and reads off of his notecard. Quizzes were a little challenging but tests were easier because he gave out practice tests that were very similar to the actual test. Overall, not a bad teacher, but not a great teacher.

While a lot of people on this page have been saying that Eldridge is not a good lecturer. This is true, however attendance is critical to this class. Mondays are usually for quizzes/test, Wednesdays are when lab write-ups are due, and Fridays are lab days. Labs are critical to this class due to the fact that the tests and quizzes can sometimes hard (he adds points so there's a 75% class average). However, his PolyLearn is a useful resource and while I never went to his office hours, the workshop for this class was very useful. Also on a side not, on the first day, Eldridge told the class "Attendance is critical; I'm not the kind of professor who regurgitates information from the book". He then proceeded to be exactly the kind of professor that does that. He didn't do a lot of practice problems in class, so be sure to do homework on your own time, even if it isn't assigned.

This guy is kinda new to teaching and spends a bit of time going over the procedure. Make sure you keep a good lab notebook. He isn't super helpful when you ask questions but overall he was pretty decent.

Prof. Eldridge is an excellent teacher and all I can say is that I wish he had been available for lecture as well. I'm pretty sure this was his first year at Poly and he handled it like a champ. He is extremely helpful and understands that sometimes we make mistakes, especially in OCHEM. He DOES NOT just sit at the front of the class and leave you to your own devices and will routinely walk around to give advice or to just see how you're doing. And if you missed a lab or quiz he is more than happy to adjust to your schedule so you can make it up as long as you get back to him. He is also very easy to talk to and makes lots of fun jokes and connections to our lives. Great teacher and great guy! Can't wait to take him for 316.

Professor Eldridge was an amazing lab instructor for CHEM 312, and was very approachable and willing to answer questions. He genuinely cares about how you are doing in the class. Looking forward to taking him as a lecturer for CHEM 313 next quarter!

He is an amazing teacher! He taught in a way that was very easy to understand and he was always more than willing to help out. One thing though, beware of his quizzes. He expects a lot out of you, so they are going to be difficult. That is why you should go to office hours and make sure that you understand the material completely. This in mind, he is totally worth the effort and you will learn a ton!

For general organic chemistry, he was an amazing teacher. Everything was laid out for the student. He gave us study guides, practice problems and explained every thing so that it was understandable to the average student. He is always thinking that most of us aren't going to be a major in this field. In all of my chemistry classes, he comes second in the ability to teach the foreign concept of chemistry; the first was at a community college. Advice: just show up, do the practice problems in the book and the ones in his practice packets, you should be fine. If not, the Prof. is very approachable, just ask!

Professor Eldridge was quite a good CHEM 313 lecturer, as he explained most of the material pretty well, until we got to the end of the quarter when he sort of rushed the material about DNA. Other than that, excellent professor who is very willing to help students succeed. The quizzes and midterms are all very straightforward and allow students to do very well if they adequately study the material. You will not regret taking a class with Professor Eldridge.

Eldridge is not a good professor for biochem. He was not confident on the topics presented and it was very apparent. It was hard to decide what was important and what to focus on for quizzes and tests. His quizzes and tests were manageable but were still tough. Also, he could not answer a lot of the questions students asked during class. His lack of understanding himself made this class much harder than it needed to be. I would not recommend him for chem 313.

Eldridge was a horrible biochem professor. He is a great person and can be funny but is not confident. How can I learn when my professor is constantly telling me he doesn't know what he is doing? He also does not know exactly what he wants. He will give you an assignment and cannot clarify or elaborate what he means when students ask questions. Did not focus on important course material that will be useful in future courses. Try to avoid him for biochem.

This class became more difficult than it needed to be. Dr. Eldridge is helpful in office hours but his lectures are too scattered. I didn't gain much from this class. He didn't apply biochemistry to enough real life examples, which made the class pointless. I am very disappointed.

For being his first quarter teaching biochem, I'd say he did pretty well. The class is by no means easy (that's the nature of biochem), but he is very willing to help you and answer any questions that you have and every now and then he makes pretty funny jokes or analogies involving the lecture topics. (He'll explain what "asian glow" is to the class, by biological terms.) His quizzes were pretty difficult if you hadn't read over your notes/handouts a few times before class, but his exams were very straightforward and he gave us study guides which helped a lot. He is a VERY fair grader, which I appreciated a lot since there are other teachers that take off most of the points for stupid reasons about the smallest details. Yes, his lectures are somewhat scattered, and if it's difficult, it's because of the content, not his teaching abiities. He doesn't mind explaining a concept multiple times till everyone gets it. He highlighted the important facts so that we didn't have to waste our time memorizes the useless fluff. You'll get a lot out of the class if you take the time to study and do well.

Prof. Eldridge is still a bit of a mystery to me. I was really stoked to be taking him at the beginning of the quarter because he seemed really nice and interested in students understanding the material. However, as the quarter progressed, I realized that he was in fact not a very good professor. He was scattered in his lecture material, and his quiz and test problems didn't ever relate to the book problems he assigned. I always struggled with determining the right things to study for his tests and quizzes. I'd start to think I knew what he wanted, and then one of his exams would hit me from left field again. In office hours, I often felt like he was irritated with certain questions, or was rushing me out the door. However, I will say, at the end of the quarter he realized how freaked out I was about passing the class and how much I needed to at least get a C. I say this because even though I studied like a crazy person for the final and stalked him in office hours, I'm pretty sure I bombed the final, which should have put me at a D+ or C-. However, he gave me a C. So, I do appreciate a teacher that recognizes when a student is really trying. But, that being said, I feel like with a different professor, I had the potential for an A or B in the class. One final note, a disappointing part of the class was that he never really applied things to living organisms. He even admitted that he only saw things on a chemistry level. Overall, pretty disappointing, but hopefully he'll get better.

He is a new teacher that cares about instructing his students to the absolute best of his ability. He is a teacher with a strong chemistry background and little biology background, but he is willing to listen to students who may know more about biology. More importantly, he is willing to put in the time and dedication to learn more about biology. Dr. Eldridge is a teacher who is dedicated and willing to work for his students.

Dr. Eldridge is very thorough and cares about his students really learning and understanding the information. I went to office hours a bunch of times for help with lab and sometimes lecture, and he was always willing to help and explain a concept in a manner that was easier to understand. He would explain things at a good pace and would gage how well I was receiving something he said in office hours. He's very patient with students who have a hard time learning the material, especially if you show that you're putting in the effort. He's very personable, and though he's a little more on the quiet side, he has a witty sense of humor that comes out sometimes. Sometimes, lectures can get a little confusing, given the nature of the subject (it's a lot of information). But, if you ask specific questions, he'll be able to help you out. Overall, he's a good professor in terms of being available to his students and wanting them to succeed. He's pretty fair, genuine, and, again, thorough.

This guy is new to teaching and it shows in his lectures. He likes to talk so he will just ramble about a topic and try to teach it but in reality he just gave you minor details. Then on a quiz or test he will ask you about the process as a whole and you will not know what the answers are because he only gave you the bare minimum information. He is terrible at connecting related topics together so at the end of lectures many people end up being confused because of his inability to teach fluently. Eldridge is a real nice guy and in office hours he is real helpful. His Bio 313 class consisted of 2 midterms, a final, 3 quizzes, and many many points for supplemental work. This includes homework chapter readings, 2 one page writing assignments, 1 presentation in front of some peers, and group study pictures to show that you have been studying with others. The supplemental portion is the easiest part of the class and I am sure it buffered my grade. He is the only teacher that I've had in college who offered free points like this. Eldridge is a bad teacher and you might get frustrated with him in lecture sometimes but write all the notes, read from the book what you do not understand, and then see him in office hours. I did minimal work for his Bio 313 class and rarely freaked out during the quarter.

Eldridge was impatient and had no idea how to convey what information he wanted us to know for quizzes, lab, etc. By the end of the quarter, half the class didn't even know the purpose of active extraction. His prelab lectures were so scattered and he took off arbitrary points in my lab notebook. I felt like half the time he was unfair when taking off points and favored certain students over others.
