Jacky is AMAZING. She is such a great professor! I had a rough first quarter as a freshmen, but having her as my professor definitely made my life easier. I felt like she genuinely took effort to get to know me as a person. She's so sweet, considerate, empathetic, and helpful. GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS! She genuinely wants to help you and my essays have improved whenever I went in and got her feedback. She's super funny and friendly. Her classwork and lectures are engaging and I learned a lot from her. JUST TAKE HER, you will not regret! :D

Jackie is a great teacher! She is easy to relate to and keeps class interesting. She has a wonderful sense of humor and seems like a great person. The only thing I will warn you of is she is a tough grader. I worked really hard on my essays and got low Bs, it seems impossible to get an A in her class.

Belknap is a great teacher! She is super helpful in office hours and her lectures are never boring. Take her if you have the chance, you won't regret it. She is a little bit of a tough grader but she makes up for it in looks. Yup she's a looker, gentleman.

Even though the class was at 7:00 AM twice a week, it was one of those classes that I didn't mind getting up and going to every time. We seemed to do a lot of interactive stuff, which made the class likable. Plus, when there was just straight lecture for a day, it wasn't too bad because she's super pretty.

So Jacky (as she likes to be called) is quite arguably one of the greatest teachers on campus. After day one of the class I already knew I loved her. She sets out her standards for the class and only hopes that you will do your best to meet them; that's the only thing, she expects you to meet them, not exceed them, so anything you do that is above and beyond doesn't go unnoticed. She is a very difficult, but reasonable grader and she will genuinely help you improve yourself as a writer, but more importantly as a person (cheesy I know, but very true). The amount of effort required to get a B is a lot more substantial than you would think, or that you might have had to put in in another class, but VERY worth it. On top of all this she is hilarious, weird, awesome and calls herself a bitch all the time, however untrue it is. If you have the opportunity to take her, PLEASE do it! She will literally be a ray of sunshine in your quarter.

By far one of the greatest professors at Cal Poly and definitely one of my favorites. She is fun, interesting and easy to talk to, plus she's hot. As far as the class goes she is a hard grader, but fair. When it comes to writing she is a great teacher. I use to suck at writing and I hated doing it but because of her I have become a pretty good writer and now I actually enjoy it. There is enough work in the class but it is not overwhelming. Her class is not the easiest but it is definitely the most worthwhile. Take her if you get the chance. You will not be disappointed.

Jacki is an excellent professor and I would highly recommend taking any class she teaches. Her 134 class is entirely writing based (no tests!) and she is clear with what she is looking for in the three assigned essays throughout the quarter. Even during 7 a.m. lecture, her sense of humor and general passion for the subject were enough to keep her students awake and attentive. She is highly organized and has a full-quarter calendar ready for students on day one. While she is a harsh grader, she allows for you to resubmit each of the writing projects if you are not satisfied with your score. She is a genuine person and cares deeply for each of her students. When it comes to deadlines she is flexible in giving extensions if you give her fair notice. Taking her class not only molded me into a much stronger writer, but also helped me to enjoy writing more. Going into her office hours to have your writing projects reviewed and participation in the group peer edits will definitely help you succeed in this class.

LOVE HER. First off she is super funny and sweet. Second this was the only class I looked forward to going to because we did the most interesting activities. Her class consists of activities and stories. You will look at art, music and videos. You will actually learn things that can't be taught in books. There is barely any reading the entire quarter. You have a few writing assignments that you do have to work very hard on, but she helps you out and you have peer review groups (which actually boosted my grade significantly). You will actually learn about english and have fun. If you have questions, she will always help. By far one of the best teachers I've ever had.

I'm very glad that I had Jacki for freshman year! She's very down on earth and well organized with her teaching. To people who don't want to spend much time on their work, please don't get her class. You will definitely learn a lot from these hard work. I just did what I supposed to do and ended up with an A-.

I really believe that Ms. Belknap is a wonderful teacher. She is very kind and understanding. I cannot express how great of a teacher she is. I think that if I worked harder than my grades would've been much better, but I did not take this class seriously enough. She's very helpful and explains everything clearly, and if you need more clarifying, she is more than happy to help you. We are in college now, so I do not understand why people are complaining about the workload (this should be expected). Although there is quite a lot of writing to do for this class, I don't think it is hard to manage unless you wait last minute.

Jacki truly impacted my life. She is an unbelievably good professor. Coming into this course as a freshman I was very nervous, but throughout this course I learned so much from her. She has a wonderful personality and is very down to earth. Yes this class was very difficult (like most classes at cal poly) but if you put in the time and effort, it will pay off. Jacki is there to help you every step of the way. She definitely deserves two thumbs up.

Jacki is a great. SHE IS NOT EASY!! She lets just know the first day that C means you met all her requirements and your work is good. Probably the hardest class I have ever taken in my life (I struggle a lot with research and writing) BUT she is really truly there to guide you every step of the way. She really pushes her students and attempts to connect with everyone on a personal level which is great. I feel like she actually cares.

First of all, I want to say that I'm actually an ESL student and I was in Ms. Belknap's ENGL 134 class! Ms. Balknap was a very nice woman, I felt great sitting in her class. She told us to call her Jacki but I didn't fell very comfortable of this so I still say Ms. Belknap... I thought ENGL 134 was gonna be super hard for me but it turns out to be a great academic experience with Ms. Belknap and my classmates. However, Belknap gave us quite a lot reading assignments, writing projects and biweekly reading response logs. It's really easy to keep a B or above if you work hard, but it's still really easy drop to a C if you don't prepare for the class. I highly recommend you take Ms. Belknap's class! No midterms nor quizzes, but you will have a final with is a take-home writing project due by the time the class final ends.

Jackie is the best prof I've had. I never dreaded going to class because she somewhat forces you to make friends which I appreciated. On her reading logs, you don't have to go above and beyond to get a perfect score. Put a lot of time and energy into the writing projects because those are what really affect your grade. Reading Fresh Voices will help you see how your paper compares to others.

Jacki's class was the hardest class I took Spring freshman year, yet she was so amazing that it was by far my favorite... super interesting lectures with in class activities... she is the kind of professor you just want to please... Takes a lot of effort to do well, but it is doable ...I almost cried out of pure joy when I got an A on my writing project 2... but if you want to learn how to write, take Jacki!

I LOVE JACKI SO MUCH OMG PLEASE TAKE HER! She is one of my all-time favorite professors here at Cal Poly! Honestly, she's a pretty tough grader when it comes to essays (only the top few essays receive A's), but you just need to put the effort in and you'll be probably do well, unless you suck at writing. Either way, her office hours are super helpful and she's the sweetest lady! My favorite part about her class was how we began each lecture. She studied our names and made the effort to memorize them really quickly! Then as our "attendance", she'd everyone a question for the day and then by the end of the quarter we all knew each other pretty well and it was a super lit class! She makes it enjoyable a very positive learning environment! Definitely recommend! Jacki is AMAZING!!

Jacki is an awesome teacher. Her class is extremely enjoyable. She is a tough grader and she expects a great deal, so make sure you stay on top of things. There is an unnecessary amount of work in this class for a GE. You are going to learn things in this class that you will never use in industry. You will learn a lot and you will do a TON of work in the process, but none of it is actually used in your major. Do not take this class if you are an engineer trying to get an actual engineering position, take this class if you are trying to become a writer in the engineering field.

I can honestly say that she is the best professor I have had at Cal Poly so far. She is truly inspiring and a great lady. I cannot express how happy I was in having her as a teacher and am extremely glad at the impact she had on me in my first year. TAKE JACKI. Yes she is a tough grader but most of it is organization and minor details, not content. The course really only has 3 assignments: a resume, instruction manual, and a hefty analytical report (you get about a month to do it and it's as a group). Jacki is a really nice teacher who cares about her students, and will prepare you well for the future.

I love Jacki. She is such a great lecturer. She really knows her stuff. She is also very picky, though, but that makes it nice because she tells you EXACTLY what you need to do. I have learned so much from her, and it has made me a better student and engineer. I would consider myself lucky if I could have the pleasure of taking her again. BE WARNED, however, that there will be a point at about week 8 where there is a lot on your plate. Stay calm, because if you talk to Jacki she will help you through everything. You can also extend any deadline you wish if necessary. Take Jacki, or miss out.

Jacky was a great lecturer who knows her stuff in regards to getting you prepared for your interactions with industry professionals. Despite being at 8am, I did enjoy going to class each day and felt like the time was well spent. Be aware that she does take the course seriously and if you're looking to get through this class with little work there's probably a professor that better suits your needs. If you're looking to get a lot out of the course, she's probably one of the best lecturers out there.

Jacki CAMPBELL for those of you figuring this out now, is a great teacher and lecturer. I did become a better writer as a result of her class BUT she is not that great of a person to be honest. From day 1 she outlined the class in a manner that resembled tyranny with grading pitfalls that could net you a 0 even if you do the assignment and turn it in a minute late. Students who were absent, even for documented illness, over the quarter got points taken off for participation. If you are late to her class, you might as well head home because you just got your grade lowered anyway. Her readings are too large and her quizzes only focus on small sections from the reading. Her obsession with professionalism also causes her to be extremely condescending anytime someone steps out of line. She also plays favorites, so getting in groups with those kids is absolutely crucial for a better grade. Honestly, the coursework is not hard. Her intention is to give you a C, and it is up to you to prove you are worth an A meaning that most of her grading, even participation, is her subjective grading with no oversight. Honestly so tragic how much power can go to a professors head. TL;DR Drop if you have her. Take Greene or literally anyone else unless you want to put forth a lot of effort for a B or C and feel like doing unspeakable acts to her car at the end of it all. (You can earn an A if you are also an exceptional brown-noser).
