Anne-Marie really wants you to succeed. She's great at explaining when you're confused about something--very patient and knowledgable. Take her class. She's wonderful!

Anne Marie shows EXTREME favoritism toward students and can be very rude to those she doesn't like. The class is straight-forward and simple, but a bit tough to catch up on if you miss a lab.

I probably just suck at Science cause this was a fairly easy class, but I still managed to mess up and end up with a C. Bergen was pretty straight forward with her material and the class was relatively easy. I just never scored well on my midterms and missed 3 quizzes. I forgot and she doesn't take out the lowest score or anything. Quizzes are assigned after each lecture/lab and due the next time you have class. I just wasn't on top of my schedule and missed quizzes and scored badly on midterms. I honestly shouldn't have gotten the grade I did cause this was not a hard class whatsoever. Bergen was a fine teacher. However, she would never fully explain a specific problem. She would quickly go over everything and never really let the material sink in. You really had to review the material if you wanted to understand the concept.

Professor Bergen was definitely my favorite teacher! She is the nicest person ever and is really sweet in class. The material is not very hard, and in class it is very hands on and interactive, so make sure to participate and follow along with everything that you do. In the beginning of the quarter, she presents the material at a slower pace, and then you fly through the material towards the end of the year, so that's the time that you really need to stay on top of the information and make sure you understand what is going on. She is a very particular grader and looks for little details, so on exams and the final, make sure you clearly explain everything about the topic and don't leave anything out. She is helpful during office hours and you can go look over tests or ask about homework which is nice. Overall, the class is very manageable and super fun and there's not a lot of homework or anything which is super nice!

as a first year I was very afraid of this class, but all I can say is that she is amazing. I highly recommend this class. She cares about your grades and makes herself very available to her students. Not only is the class pretty easy but she is also very willing to help answer questions. she is never rude in her responses even when they are dumb questions which goes to show just how nice she is. If you are looking to take PSC 101 I recommend that you take it with her because I sat in on one of the other teachers classes (which are the exact same material) and Mrs. Bergen is waaaaaay better! its not even comparable.

I really liked Bergen. I took her Winter Quarter of 2011, and I'm pretty sure it was her first year teaching here at Cal Poly. Despite this fact, she was an excellent lab teacher, and went through the matieral very well and was genuinely interested in answering your questions and making sure you understood the material. She went through things relatively slow, which was nice, although if she is teaching lecture now (as I heard she is) she might have to go faster to complete the curriculum. And while I can't say how well of a lecturer she will be, I can say that she is sincerely interested in helping her students and is willing to take the time to answer questions and help you understand. I would definitely recommend her as a lab teacher, and probably as a lecturer as well just based on what I know about her as a teacher.

First of all, Anne Marie is a sweetheart and is very approachable. There were tons of assignments due at lecture, so it was kind of necessary to go. The slides are all online, and test material comes straight from lecture. The book is helpful in providing detail and I'm definitely glad I got it, but you only need to look over the stuff she covered in class. This class was a lot of work-- assignments, projects, quizzes, etc-- but if you do everything, you should get at least a B. She offers quite a bit extra credit. I took her for lab too, which I think really helped me out in lecture.

I LOVED Anne Marie. She is by far the best professor I have had at Cal Poly thus far. I am not a science person at all and I was convinced going into the class that I would get a C. But Anne Marie presents the material so clearly and is so passionate about what she teaches that I actually wanted to go to lecture, and it was at 7:40 in the morning, so that says a lot about her. There was a decent amount of work for this class, which kind of put me off because the lecture is only half of the class, but all the assignments did help me in the end. I suggest going to class because she elaborates on the powerpoints (which are on PolyLearn) during lecture and will assign and collect assignments, so it is definitely worth going. I bought the book for the class, but I didn't really use it. We had two assignments that used the book, but other than that I didn't use it at all to study for the midterm and final. If it's on hold at the library, I would suggest that instead of buying it. Anne Marie made a boring class super interesting. And we have field trips, which I think is great. They seem kind of boring, but the Morro Bay trip was definitely worth it and was informative and helpful for the rest of the quarter.

She is extremely rude to certain students and plays favorites. The class is three hours long and pointless. I had to ask repeatedly for her to give me an assignment she never gave me originally, she finally gave me it two days before the due date. The bug collections are awful and stressful if you don't have family or friends do to it for you. Hopefully they will rework this course to better fit liberal studies.

Ann Marie is a wonderful woman, she expects a lot from her students but you come out in the end knowing more information than you would have ever guessed. This class is what my friends call the bug class, you'll become a class A bug catcher and people will love to watch you run around with a net. The class asks for a lot of hands on activity outside of class. Be sure to take it at a time that you can balance this with other less hands on classes. Get a move on with your bug collection, its actually very hard to get the total number needed. Study hard for the midterm, final and quizzes every point counts. Overall, enjoy her class! I never missed a single lab and I'm glad I didn't it helped me succeed in the course.

I loved Anne Marie! This class was project-based, but I think that's important for us as students to experience considering we are studying to become teachers. The bug collection was time consuming, but ended up being pretty fun! Besides studying the bug orders and parts (and flower parts), I didn't need to study for the midterms or final. If you never miss a lab, then you should be fine for the tests. Anne Marie was such a sweet lady and was always there to answer questions. She would sometimes open class early or end class early for people to pin their bugs or get in extra study time. She was extremely organized! She would tell us exactly what we were going to be doing for the day at the beginning of class. I love organized teachers! Some people complain that she treats us like little kids, but that didn't bother me at all. I'd rather a teacher be overly clear with instructions than too vague. Overall, this class was not stressful and quite enjoyable. Just manage your time well and you'll do fine!

Anne Marie is incredible. She has years of classroom knowledge and passion that is portrayed in every aspect of her lectures and labs. She is caring and understands that her students are humans. Therefore, she works to be reasonable but challenging for assignments. Anne Marie will not be an easy A, but I have learned more in my classes with her over the past four years than I have in any of my Liberal Studies courses. Every student in our department should appreciate this woman and work harder to get to know her as a person. Her encouragement makes me excited for a future as an educator.
