Math 112 (or as I call it, math for liberal arts majors) was probably the most fun math class I've ever taken. After going through algebra and pre-calc, neither of which I was especially fond of, I was not exactly looking forward to having to take one more math class in order to graduate. However, 112 turned out to be completely different from what I expected. We learned about interesting topics that are usually reserved for higher level math classes, but they were explained in simple terms and I had no trouble understanding them. There's a homework assignment due about once every two weeks, two midterms (which should not be difficult as long as you go to class and take notes), a group project, and final. Overall, not too stressful of a class, and kinda fun cause you get to learn about those areas of math that you've probably never heard about before.

I've taken all my required math classes with Sean; He's a great teacher and I would take him again if I needed a third math class.

Fine teacher, but a little dry in the presentation. I wouldnt suggest having her at 8:00 in the morning, might be difficult staying awake.

Take Sean if you want to re-learn Calculus, at a SLOWER pace. The lectures always dragged a little, but if you hated calculus or math in high school, Sean's class might be a good decision for you. I come from a perspective of someone who already took calculus but sucked at it. As far as new material, I can't express my opinion on how well he recognized someone's struggles. Just go to office hours, they were helpful. The tests were predictable, the homework kinda sucked, but if you don't do the homework in ANY math class, you will likely fail. Overall, I would say that I learned a lot.

Great teacher! I took his early morning course, and he made sure that everybody was being challenged but could keep up as well. He enjoys what he does, and that's obvious in his friendly teaching style. If you can, take him.

Sean is the shit. He knows what he's talking about and acknowledges any problems you have and will help you out until you understand the concepts. Just make sure to do your weekly homework with a purpose and this class should be pretty straightforward.

Go to his office hours, he is willing to help you and goes step by step to help you understand the problem. He clearly cares about his students doing well in the class and teaches calculus at a very understandable level.

Sean is one of the best teachers at Cal Poly. He is very enthusiastic about what he does and you can tell he loves what he does. His lectures are clear and translate directly to his midterms. His office hours are very helpful and he is always willing to help. His grading is very fair and he gives A LOT of partial credit on problems. He made math fun and understandable.

He explains the subject very well and his in class problems are very similar to those on the homework, which helps a lot. He is very enthusiastic about the subject and has fun facts that keep class interesting. He is a great teacher!

Sean Gasiorek does an excellent job at explaining thoroughly every chapter covered. He teaches mainly by giving proofs and then examples. You pretty much study for the midterms by doing the weekly homework, which can sometimes be a lot but as long as you do a little bit everyday, it's not bad at all. Do the homework and TRY on the homework, and this class with be a breeze. He's an excellent teacher especially for how young he is. He will do everything in his power to making the class "less awful"

Sean is the man. TAKE HIM AT ALL COSTS. He is really approachable and makes this class actually fun. His lectures are really well organized and he makes you understand math. I didn't like Calc at all until I took Sean's class. There is a lot of homework sometimes, but if you do it and try, then the class is easy. His midterms and final are really straightforward and are possible to get a 100% on them, he doesn't even need to curve them. To sum it up, take Sean.

Sean is the best professor ever. He explains everything well, he's young and he understands students, and he's a nice guy that will work with you. Homework is graded once a week and he replaced the lowest midterm score with your final score so it's easy to do well. You might need to go to office hours if you fall behind though because he does not go over the homework much.

Sean is a very solid teacher. He covers all the material necessary to do well on his tests. He gives weekly homework assignments. The midterms are average in difficulty - if you study you will do well. Overall, Sean is a great teacher to take for Math 142. Complete all the homework, study a couple hours for tests, and you will get an A.

The best teacher I've had so far in my short college career. He's clear in his presentation, very organized, and completely understandable. He's approachable when you have questions and always nice and willing to help when you come into office hours. He loves his corny jokes and is very into the whole "math" thing. Take him or else.

The best math teacher at Cal Poly, hands down. Made Calc 2 interesting, which in itself is a feat. The homework is worth 25% of your grade, and completely prepares you for the tests. This is awesome cause it gives you incentive to do the homework. Most other math classes have homework worth like 10% or nothing. I absolutely love Sean and just wish I could have taken him again for Calc 3 =[.

As you can already tell by this teacher's ratings, this teacher is amazing. He really presents the material in a clear and understandable manner. He is funny and passionate about his work. Did I mention his lectures are crystal clear? The main reason I didn't get an "A" for this class was because I was focusing on other classes and didn't do so hot on the final. Just make sure to do the homework! It is worth 1/4 of your grade, and the tests are all based on your homework (from what I've seen). Random Note: He doesn't have any quizzes, he has 2 midterms and 1 final.

I took Sean's class my first quarter and he has ruined me for other math teachers. He is simply amazing at combining the concept with the math and actually makes Calc II enjoyable. He is super willing to help you and is very fair with tests. I would recommend writing down everything he puts on the board because he gives really good examples and every piece of writing is important. He is a fantastic teacher and a great guy, so I would recommend taking him for Calc II

Sean is an amazing teacher, by far the top three I've ever had. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS!!!!! Seriously I cannot stress this enough. The material is only hard if you don't keep up with the work. There is homework due every Friday but it is more than do-able (if you don't wait until midnight the night before to do it). Immediately after lecture (or within the same day at least) do the homework assigned for what he lectured on. Then the next day go into office hours and ask about the questions you had trouble on so it's still fresh in your mind. Keeping up with the assignments this way will help you from becoming overwhelmed with all of the material (which a lot of students do). Good luck and consider yourself extremely lucky if you get into his class! Oh and GO TO CLASS.

I'm going to make this really simple, if you can get into his class DO IT. If you were scheduled in to one of his classes, like I was, consider yourself extremely lucky because you are getting a great professor to show you why you love math as much as he does. He takes some getting used to but sean grows on ya. I never went to his office hours because I believed I didn't need to, but I could have boosted my grade if I had some more one on one time. If your like me and do fine with the material and really busy schedule don't go to the group study sessions. Going back over Sean's notes I took in class were way more helpful on homework than the math major student who would look up solutions online during our study sessions in the library. GO TO CLASS. No quizes doesn't force you to show up to class, but why wouldn't you want to do with Sean leading the class in some "FUN MATH". I had a friend in my class who would only show up once or twice a week to take notes and still do fine on the midterms and final. I don't know how she did it. GO TO CLASS, DO THE HOMEWORK, GO TO OFFICE HOURS

Best math teacher you can get! Get him if you can. He knows his materials and presents it in a clear and understanding manner. His examples are always step by step so there is no way you can get lost. If you do, don't be afraid to ask him questions! He will answer them and makes sure you understand it. He's not here to fail you, but to help you learn. Homework is part of the grade but I like it that way. It's a way to help you study and understand the material more. Plus, it's easy points towards your grade.

If you are taking Calculus, please take Sean Gasiorek for your class if you can. He is no doubt the best math teacher I have ever had and really took time to teach his kids and make sure everyone learns and understands the material. His lectures are clear and doing the helpful examples that he does really do help you for the homework. The homework was never impossible and he was very fair on the midterms. I was slated for a B until I got destroyed on the final, but that probably was more my fault than anything. Regardless, I will be looking to take Gasiorek for Calc 4 because he is the best teacher.

Sean is the greatest calc teacher if what you want to do is learn. He is very organized and his lectures are clear, not to mention how helpful he is in his office hours. He will always be the first teacher I look for when I'm trying to sign up for a math class.

gasiorek is so far my favorite teacher at cal poly. his notes are amazing!!! lets just say I wish he could teach me every class. if you have the privileged opportunity of taking this teacher, you must!!

Sean is the ideal math teacher. He presents all notes in a uniform matter, he never makes you feel dumb when you ask questions, he always makes himself seem very approachable, and gives examples that aren't too abstract and more like the meat of the course topics. His midterms greatly corresponded to the level of difficulty of the problems he gave in class and in homework. The final was hard, but then again, he gave us all of the tools to do well throughout the duration of the class. Plus, the graded homework grade is 25%. That really helps.

Sean is THE Calc professor. I HIGHLY recommend that you get him at all costs if you need to/want to take a Calculus course. He's a master at teaching the material and is really good at drawing diagrams, which helps if you're in Calc II or IV when you draw 3D objects and such. His tests are not easy, though. BEWARE. His final is very challenging, but none of his exams are impossible. I recommend concurrent enrollment in the workshops if you're not in Calc IV. All in all, the BEST Calc professor I've ever had.

Sean is by far the best Math teacher I've ever had. No quizzes. Just homework (25%), 2 midterms (each 25%) and a final (25%). He's always willing to help during office hours and you can tell he loves teaching math. People say his tests are hard but honestly, if you go over your homework and take the time to understand the problems, it should be easy. He also gives a good amount of partial credit. I would take him for Math 142 and recommend him to anyone, just don't procrastinate on the homework. Get a study group. Go to his office hours.

Basically the best teacher I’ve had in the last 14 years of education. He is super organized and concise. Can explain almost anything in terms that students understand. He makes every other teacher at this school look unprepared. I could go on, but you get the point. HOWEVER, don’t kid yourself, this class isn’t easy. It requires a lot of work and his homework alone makes sure you don’t fall behind. Expect to do 8 hours a week on homework alone. The midterm and final aren’t ridiculously hard, but they require a fair amount of extra studying. If you have to go beyond Calc 2, then I suggest you take this class so you can completely understand the material for later classes. Oh, and make sure your phone doesn't go off during class...and never ask if you can just use a calculator.

Great guy, only decent teacher. I've never gotten a B in math until this guy. I think because this was his first time teaching calc 143 he struggled a little. 143 is notoriously one of the tougher calc classes and Sean was sometimes a little confusing with the material. He teaches very similarly to Katie Vaughan (if you had her for 141/142 id reccommend him) where he goes slowly through lectures and encourages questions. That being said though, the lectures do tend to run a little dry and be prepared with gum to stay awake. He assigns quite a bit of homework, sometimes too much. But it is a big portion of your grade and can definately bump you up to that - or +. The grading is 2 midterms and a final and hw, each 25%. No curve, but he drops your lowest midterm. Office hours are definately a must since you can correct your homework and get full points because he is an EXTREMELY tough grader. Like, don't expect too much partial credit. His test questions are not necessarily difficult but he expects perfection for full points. That being said, Sean is a GREAT guy and he wants you to succeed. I have heard that the calc 143 teachers are somewhat hit and miss, so if you put in the work a B is completely achievable. Take Sean, just be prepared to do work

Sean was the best math teacher! I came from getting a C+ in calc II so getting a B+ in calc III! He doesn't give quizzes which was one thing that killed my grade in calc2. GO to OFFICE HOURS, the homework is really challenging and he is the most helpful person in office hours. If you are struggling he is also really willing to meet with you one on one to get even more help. He's really understanding and will let you take midterms early or later if you have something going on. He's really young and would make awkward jokes that keep you engaged in the class. I completely recommend taking him because he is the best! I feel that he does whatever it takes to help his students succeed. Just don't be afraid to ask for help

Math is beautiful.

Sean is the best math professor I've ever had. Great attitude towards the subject, very friendly, likes to have fun with the material and still get through all of it in a clear, planned manner, and a fair grader. I really wish I had gone to his office hours and gotten to know him better and/or gotten more help with some of the material. Study hard for his tests and do all of the homework. He makes homework count for a big part of your grade, which is actually good because it makes you practice a lot for the tests. Basically, just take Sean for any math class you possibly can; you will definitely enjoy his class!

Take Sean!! He is the BEST math professor I have had at Cal Poly. His notes are perfect and he does not try to trick you with his exam questions.

Sean was a great professor! He makes everything easy to learn and is really helpful in office hours. I thought I got a higher grade in the class, and was disappointed to learn I got a C. The midterms are pretty straightforward, knowing how to do all of the homework is the best way to go.

Gasiorek is a young guy that knows how to communicate well with students. He collects a lot of homework at the end of each week, but honestly I would not have otherwise been motivated to do all of that homework. Overall, he made the class enjoyable, and easy so long as you did your homework. Really one of the top 2 or 3 professors I've had at Poly. TAKE HIM.
