Ginny is one of the coolest professors at CP. First of all she asks you in the 1st class to call her Ginny which is pretty awesome. She knows more about theatre than anyone else I've ever met. She is fun, young, and very passionate about what she teaches. She makes it so that you're very involved in lectures which makes it more interesting. It's sort of a lot of reading in the beginning but then it thins out over the quarter. Overall an amazing professor TAKE HER!!!!

Best class I've taken in my life! The plays we read are actually very good and Ginny is honestly, so sweet. She always has a smile on her face and she is fair and approachable. Make sure the read the plays and the textbook and you will most definitely recieve an A in her class.

Ginny is awesome. I screwed up in the class, but I don't care. When I retake the class I will take hers again. She is such a happy person who is always willing to help. She is super helpful at office hours and pretty much the nicest professor on campus. You will get a A or B in this class as long as you don't dick around like I did. TAKE THIS CLASS.

Ginny is a wonderful teacher, not only because of her great attitude, but also because she can effectively teach the history of theatre. This class does have a bit of reading, about 8 book chapters and 4 or 5 plays, but this isn't too bad because quiz and test questions are based mostly from the reading. Tests are fairly easy if you keep up with the reading, but it is possible to do poorly if you don't study. There is also a group project that you work on the entire quarter, but it isn't too bad because it's spread out over many weeks. I'm an engineering major who had to take a theatre class for a GE, and it went really well. I would not recommend this class to anyone who absolutely hates theatre or hates to read, but you really can't get out of that for C3 GE. On another note, she encourages class participation and is very chatty with the class, but she hardly ever calls on people to answer questions; she relies on volunteers. I'm really shy, but never worried about having to speak, and when I did, she genuinely listens and gives extremely constructive feedback. Take Ginny for theatre!

Ginny is SUCH a nice person! her class is extremely hands on and fun and entertaining. Attendance is mandatory, but her class is fun so theres really no reason not to show up. There is A LOT of reading. i mean a lot. the reading of the chapters arent long, but theres study guides and you need to take notes because there are daily quizzes which are very specific to your readings. be careful because ginny is very vague, and sometimes doesnt clearly explain what she wants from you. parts of her exams seem unfair because they were things we really didnt discuss and she really didnt ask us to do. theres 2 midterms, a final, and a dramaturgy project which is super easy. consider it extra credit. you work in groups of 3, so find people in the class early on that you can depend on. Otherwise enjoy ginny! shes fun!

Very genuine person who over teaching and is passionate about theater. She gave us orange flavored gum to chew during class to help us remember that prostitutes called 'orange wenches' sold oranges at the theaters. She made the class way more fun than I expected with her crazy activities. But at times it was still boring- after all, theater history IS theater history.

It is so sad that ginny is leaving next year. She is such an awesome professor and makes learning theatre enjoyable. I would have never thought that I was going to enjoy a theater class but with this lady, there is no way that anyone would not. I have met some awesome classmates and learned a great deal of information along the way. If anyone else is lucky enough to have the opportunity to have her, DO IT!

Ginny is a wonderful person and the type of professor that you don\'t normally see now a days. The class basically consists of reading plays and class time was dedicated to the discussion of the plays. There are two papers(a midterm and a final) as well as blackboard discussion postings about the class reading. The class really makes you think about theater literature at a deeper level and Ginny is very enthusiastic about what she does. Even if you have something to say but don\'t know how to say it, she is a great facilitator and appreciates every contribution you can make to the discussion and challenges you even further. I would only recommend this class if you\'re willing to discuss with your classmates and read through a play or two every week. The two hours fly if youre into the discussion.

Ginny is one of the most inspirational teachers at Cal Poly. Her lectures consist of discussing play material that is assigned the first day of class. Each play is carefully chosen and tailored to the relevant class that she teaches each quarter. Her knowledge of Women's theater, and ability to facilitate and educated class discussion is that of a graduate level experience that any poly student should partake in. For Ginny's class you will be writing a lot, blackboard discussions once or twice a week, a critique of the local poly play, and any extra credit critiques she allots. Her final paper is a doozy, but her explanation about what she's looking for is fair and the help that she offers the students is more than you'll see in almost any other writing class. Take Ginny if you can in your time at Cal Poly, whether you're an engineer, theatre student, business major, or POLS major (like me) her class is more than worth it!

TH 310 aka women's theatre is a class I would HIGHLY recommend you take. Don't be thrown off from the title of the course if you're a male or are wary of the subject matter. It's a great class. Ginny is hands down one of the best teachers i've ever had, ever. Her lectures are great, and they always come to a good conclusion. She knows her materials well. The class depends a lot on class discussion, so if you're more on the shy side, your grade may suffer slightly (perhaps by a grade). Additionally, you'll be expected to read before each class (and do READ them, don't skim or read summaries). If you plan on taking this class with another reading intensive class, I would think twice. Otherwise, you'll read some great plays and you'll have a blast going to her class. I'm half way through my education and about 9/10ths done with my GE classes, and when she cancelled one of her classes, I was actually upset! Even on days I felt under the weather or sick, I still went to the class. If you need it for your major, of course take it. If you need it for a GE area, i'd take the class. If you need it for UCSP, i'd definitely take it. In fact, use a priority to get the class. You won't be dissapointed,

As a senior who chose this class only because I needed a D5 USCP, I found a topic that would otherwise be uninteresting to me made relevant and exciting through excellent teaching. She is one of the best, if not the best, teachers I have had at Cal Poly because she is smartly relevant, appropriately strict, and happily willing to put in many extra hours to help students. I am an architecture major with hardly any theatre background though I am now interested in the subject because of its aspects that appeal to me (a way of getting the whole class excited about the subject that she promotes through the "open topic" research paper). The academic world certainly needs more teachers like her.
