Horrid. She barely ever came to class and when she did this class was a nightmare to sit through. We often had monotonous activities in groups that had little to nothing to do with the course material. We would often spend the whole two hours doing something like pretending to be a country and lining up around the classroom according to your country's population of women. The test questions always came out of left field because she taught nothing. We had to turn in several weekly reports on different articles about women around the world. She completely lost all but 2 of mine. I went to talk to her about it and reprinted out all of them and she gave me credit. Then, when it came time to hand out grades, she forgot about that and told me I had only turned in two weekly reports. She tried to give me a C (although I had not gotten anything less than an A on every test and project). She was a NIGHTMARE. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

I liked Dr. Engle as a person. She was very sweet and TRIED to help, but it was the same over our heads jargon she threw on us in class. She grades fair, though. She hardly ever came to class, had sub profs take over, but never communicated with them on what they covered. So we had tons of info she never touched on the midterm. She\'s been doing this for too long because she throws the material at us like we\'re doctors in the field as well. I would not recommend taking this class from her. She lectures as if we\'re already clear on the material without clarifying or even asking if we understand it. And forget trying to take notes from her PowerPoints. SHE GOES TOO FAST TO EVEN TAKE NOTES. It\'s a bit ridiculous, really. Nearly the whole class felt this way. DO NOT TAKE HER! Take Dr. Williams.

When the whole class basically scrapes through the midterm, or gives a consensus nearly EVERY class meeting that they DON\'T GET IT, or has exponentially higher amounts of questions, something\'s wrong. Dr. Engle, we\'re not doctors. Please communicate with Dr. Williams about what he actually covered before you throw it on the midterm. You\'re awesome as far as personality and warmth are concerned, but you\'re out in left field in assuming we are understanding you. Please slow down in lecture and adequately cover the material.

Professor Engle means well, but she falters when students are struggling. Lectures were filled with \"So does everybody get this OKAY ON TO THE NEXT STEP NOW!\" and she tended to shy away from the people who needed help. Take someone else, if possible. She is a nice woman and is very passionate about the research that she does, but she is not a good teacher.

Dr. Engle is a kind and patient woman. She knows her stuff and gladly explains things ---- when she's around. Unfortunately, she was gone often and her substitute did not convey the material with the same enthusiasm or patience as she does. I think the class suffered because of this; I know I did. Also, she does not list PSY252 as a pre-requisite, but if you're going to take her course, take PSY252 first --- that will make your life much easier.

You could learn a lot about this class about sustainability…if you care. Basically just a BS GE that you have to sit through. All papers are singles spaced and you have one 1 pager, two 2 pagers, and a 10-12 page group paper/presentation. Midterm and final are 50 multiple choice, 8-10 short answer, and 1 page essay. The activity section is a complete waste of everyone’s life. If you just go to class and pay attention and write some quality papers it should be an easy A.
