An excellent professor and an excellent glass. No real lecture to worry about, just hands on lab experience working with glass. I highly recommend both the prof and the class.

This is a great class to take for an extra unit. Better than bowling. This class isn't for the faint of heart. When the torches pop they make a loud cracking sound that startles you and maybe causes you to drop the glass you're working on. If you are easily startled by lound noises think about not taking the class.

Frey was and ok teacher. He went a little fast when describing the experiments and why they work the way they do, so if you take notes, and I suggest you do, then make sure you're quick at hand. His quizzes are a little tricky, but just make sure to go over the notes you've written, the lab itself and the paper that you turn in and you should have a pretty good understanding. The labs themselves are pretty easy to follow, and they're kinda fun. At the last lab you get to make soap, slime, a kind of silly putty, and nylon. It's really cool. Otherwise you work with some interesting substances and you finally get you're hands dirty and do something. Usually I've always felt like I'm always doing some lab for no reason at all, like pH levels and just using the freakin' pH strips, c'mon, how hard is that? This lab actually means preforming experiments and all that. So yeah, be ready to work with chemicals and other shit that could be hazardous, but don't be too worried. Frey isn't the greatest, but he's really not bad, so if you get him, don't worry too much. Besides, it's easy to do well on the labs and there's 9 of those and only 2 quizzes, so seriously, don't fret.

DR. FREY WAS THE WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. HE WAS ALWAYS USING ME AS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT NOT TO DO IN LAB. HE EXPLAINED LECTURE THROUGHLY, ALTHOUGH HIS TESTS WERE NOTHING LIKE IT. CAN YOU SAY JERK!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Frey was a pretty cool professor. He lectured before every lab to clarify the material, and helped with any questions during the lab. His final was pretty hard and covered some topics that he didn't mention in class, but for the most part it was fair. He's really interested in chemistry and told some pretty cool stories in class. He's a really nice guy and after hearing some of the other 316 lab professor stuff I'm glad that I had him.

He is a great teacher, but he's not the best. He's sincere in his desire for his students to understand, but he's tough. He gave 4 midterms and dropped one, which was nice since it sounded like the other classes really wished they had that option. His test are crazy tough, but you know that going into it, and you know what's going to be on it. Most of the time the average test scores were about 55% so he curves. Just don't take him for lab, he's much harder than necessary. Most importantly he was clear and knowledgable in what he taught.

Professor Frey is one of the best teachers I have had at Cal Poly. He really wants you to understand Organic Chemistry. He comes to class with a great, fun attitude and does everything he can to help you learn the material. I never attended his office hours, but I was told that they were VERY helpful. There were three tests plus the final in this class and the best part was that if you missed a test or just totally bombed he made your final worth the amount of points for the final plus one test. He did this for the whole class and gave the higher grade. This is really helpful if you just could not get one test. If you want to really learn and enjoy it, Frey is your man. He's the greatest!

Very hard class and very hard teacher. He is a really good teacher and is very willing to help you, but you will feel like a failure everytime you take one of his tests, I don't care how much you study, you will feel like nothing when you hand in your exams. But don't worry he curves huge. I got D's on the first two midterms and pulled a B, but I also studied more for this class than any other class I have ever taken. You just have to suck it up and put in hours on top of hours to know the massive amount of material presented.

Dr. Frey is the best chem teacher I've had. He's so approachable and his tests are extremely curved. He does expect you to know the information and have retained stuff from 316, but he even gives you tests from prior quarters. You'll really know this stuff after it's over.

Dr. Frey is an excellent organic chemistry teacher. I had him for lecture and lab for 316 and 317. He was very clear, concise, and presented the material very well. Be warned, his tests are hard. You must study, and keep current with the homework and studying. He makes all this very clear from the very beginning. You can't cram organic chemistry into 3 hours of studying the night before the test. He was hard in lab, but very fair. I enjoyed him immensely and he is an asset to the department.

Dr. Frey is a good guy with a good sense of humor. The tests were very difficult, but his classes are curved, so just study harder than the person next to you. There isn't any homework, just lecture and midterms. It's not that bad, but it does take a lot of studying outside of class to really do well.
