I thought Dr. Freberg was a great teacher. The lectures in class got boring sometimes, but that was probably because it was an 8 o'clock class. She tried to liven things up with funny stories and examples, although she repeated them a lot. Reading is definitely necessary for this class, but as long as you keep up with it, you'll be fine in the class. She also gave extra credit if you were there on the random days she took roll. I definitely recommend her as a teacher if you don't mind doing the reading.

She gives tests will about 50% MC, 20% fill-in and 30% Short answer. She has a lot of pride and will most likely bring up her daughter or her time spent at UCLA at least once a lecture. but she is a good teacher and knows a lot about Psychology. I took her for two quarters and liked her style.

Dr Freberg is more than fair in her classes. Anyone needing to take the psy 201/202 series should definitly do 201 w/freberg. There is no recitation, only lecture and she always keeps the lectures fun and interesting. She provides many opportunities for you to do well in the class by giving optional Xtra credit points. Very Knowledgable and easily approached in her office hours.

She is awesome! She is really receptive to any problems and class is never boring. If you go to class you are in great shape!

Go to class = A. The test material is spelled out for you on the course material sheet she handed out. And I made up my behavior project because I forgot it was due in 2 days and still got an A on that. But, she's not half boring and you learn something. highly recommended

She is a very good teacher and there are really no surprises in her class. It is very straight forward and she definitely tells you what you have to do to pass her class.

She was a good professor. You learn a lot of information quickly, and the midterm and final are very difficult. She gives extra credit on days when not many people are in class, and also a possible 10 points outside extra credit by doing worksheets. Overall, it was a good class and she is a good teacher.

While her lectures can seem boring at times (especially at 8 AM in the morning), Prof. Freberg makes Psych enjoyable. In fact, I often find myself quoting things I learned in this class to friends and family. The grade is almost entirely based on the midterm and the final, which are multiple-choice questions from the lectures. An easy class if you take good notes, and I'd definitely recommend it.

An awesome, accomodating teacher. She is interesting to listen to, and her class really is not tough. She gave us quite a bit of extra credit. I got a B and a C on the tests and did all the extra credit and received an A in the class...not a bad deal at all. Also, whenever I had a question for her and emailed her, she responded so fast! I'm talking like a few hours. Another positive to this class was that all the test information was mentioned in some shape or another in lecture. I really didnt need to buy the book. She gives 4 points of Extra Credit for attending classes on random fridays throughout the quarter. The mid-term and final are pretty tough, but you seriously have to not put much effort in to get a C in this class.

If you go to class everytime you should get at least a B. If you actually read you should get an A, no problem. She is one of the best lecturers I've had so far at Poly.

Anyone having to take PSY 201/202 should take PSY 201 with Dr. Freberg. She is more than fair in her grading. You have two tests (all MC), a paper, and a few other assignments which are fairly easy. She even offers some extra credit. Also go to class, she does spot checks at various times throughout the semester. I missed a B by one more point. If I had gone to class on one more of teh days she checked I would have had a B. Tough way to learn a lesson

Freberg is an awesome professor. She was always willing to help students and her lectures were clear, concise and entertaining. She keeps it real and simple. Her grades consist of a few homework assignments, a project, a midterm, and a final (ALL EASY). HOMEWORK: called Frame the Debates. Basically you read a summary about a current issue in psychology and then read two articles. One from each point of view. The readings are simple (about 10 minutes to read all of it) and interesting. They are topics that you don't mind reading about. Then, the questions are more about what you think. Very easy stuff. MIDTERM & FINAL: all multiple choice and none of them are trick questions. Everything is in her lecture or in the Frame the Debate readings. LECTURE: all her lectures can be found online and everything is pretty much spelled out for you. She is always open to student input and she will never hesitate to veer from her lecture if there is an interesting topic at hand. PROJECT: Behavior Modification project. Basically, you find something you want to change about yourself. Example: stop cursing. Well, you record when you do curse and then punishment or rewards- nothing harsh. Basically, try to improve something about yourself. It can be a fun project if you try. Not time consuming either. Trust me, she is an easy grader. She tells you what she expects and none of it is very much. If you ever do need it, she always offers extra credit. EXTRA CREDIT: If you show up on a day very few people do, you get credit etc. **She is basically everything a teacher should be. She is fair; she understands that some stuff is boring and will try her best to make it otherwise; she is always open to help; she is flexible and she really cares about getting you through the class. She makes sure you learn something but trust me, this is all stuff that the entire class really wanted to know. Forget all the details that other teachers try to give you... Freberg is STRAIGHT and CONCISE... Could I ever say it enough?

Freberg was awesome, I took this class my first quarter here and she mae the transistion from high school to college much easier. Totally easy to understand. Great professor really knows what she talking about. She has the norm two midterms and a final. She also has one paper that was sorta challening but fun! Take her!

Dr. Freberg was a very fair teacher. I found the class pretty interesting and she had some good ideas of her own. The tests were not necessarily hard but there were alot of terms that you had to know. The paper you have to do is very easily graded as well. Take Freberg! I had this class at 8a.m., but she always made learning the information so interesting! Make sure you print out the notes on blackboard before you go to class because it makes understanding the material so much more interesting! You only have two midterms (30% each) and a final (40%), so it's important you stay on top of it. Go to class!!! I ended up with an 86% overall, but she gave me an A- because I didn't miss any of the attendance spot-checks she did! Obvsiously, she is a very fair grader. Don't worry two much about the book because she takes all her tests pretty much directly from her lectures. Go into her office hours after the midterms to see which ones you got wrong, because those questions will most likely reappear on the final!

Dr. Freberg is amazing! She took Psy 201 at 8:00 in the morning and did a great job. By far one of the best professors I have had so far. Only two midterms and a final! It was awesome....you even get extra credit attendance points.

I really liked professor Freberg. She presents material clearly and is very straight forward. Her tests are exactly what she lectures about so if you show up to class and take notes you will do fine. If you have any questrions go to her office hours and she is more then willing to help explain things. I would highly reccomend her.

Freberg makes psychology fascinating! Great class- she definitely presents the material clearly and in an interesting fashion. Only complaint I have about this class is that you don't have any opportunities to get points other than the tests. Your grade is based solely off your tests, which are multiple choice- so there is the possibility of knowing the material well and making a couple of stupid mistakes and ending up with a lower grade than you felt you deserved.

Very clear presentation of material, and she tests mostly on her lecture material. Print out the lecture powerpoints -- it saves a ton of time copying down notes.

Freberg is a good teacher, its just a pretty tough subject. Definitely print out the power points, thats something that i didnt start doing until halfway through and it helped alot. good teacher, but you'll need to study probably

Very good at explaining the material. Her tests are very straight forward and are from lecture material. If you attend class and read the book, you will get an A no problem. Our class did these loneliness assignments which were very simple and constituted 20% of our grade. Her classes are about 60 people which makes it easy to ask questions. She posts a "most missed list" on blackboard of questions that were missed on the midterms. These exact questions were on the final. She also takes random spot checks and if you are there you get extra credit. Highly Recommend!!!!

Dr. Freberg is one of the best professors I have had at Cal Poly. Not only is she super clear, but she is really understanding if you are having trouble in the class, and will make every effort to help you. She really wants students to succeed and learn about psychology. Highly recommended!!!

Freberg is fantastic! Clear explanations of the material, down-to-earth personality, and a fair-grader. By far one of the best lecturers at Cal Poly. Also, save yourself $180 and skip the textbook- the only book you will need is the Loneliness one.

I absolutely loved this teacher, even for it being 8 in the morning. She always came in with a smile on her face, eager to teach. I loved the fact that I barely had to read the textbook because all of her exam questions came straight from her lectures. She\'s totally adorable, and even brought her husband in one day. As long as you go to the class and take good notes, you should be able to do pretty well in this class.

Professor Freberg is truly a student oriented professor at Cal Poly. She will go out of her way to meet with you and will always respond to any emails you send her very promptly. I had her 7am class and no matter what she always had her smile on and was ready to teach, she truly loves teaching and she truly loves her students and that is what makes a great professor. I got a C+ because I had a busy quarter, but if you take good notes and go to class you will be fine.

Not too bad. 10% were iClicker points (she checks attendance that way, and 7am 4 days a week makes this kinda blow). 15% was given as activities which were easy online points. The other 75% were the two midterms and final, equally weighted and non-comprehensive. I didn\'t do that great on a couple tests but she offered some extra credit (guest speaker, research participant) and I ended up with a B-.

Freeberg\'s classes were okay. Most of the time it was boring, but it depended on what she was talking about. She lectures through powerpoint and uses iclickers to take attendance. This forced me to go to every class at 8am. Attendance and the small iclicker quizzes are part of your grade. Her tests weren\'t difficult. Multiple choice tests, no homework. She\'s a pretty easy teacher. She even offers extra credit sometimes. Freeberg is approachable and easy to talk to if you have a problem or question.

Great teacher and great class! Be sure to take careful notes because the tests are based off exactly what she says in lecture. Reviewing the book before class is helpful but the lecture is the most important part. Freberg is a brilliant woman and really knows what she is talking about.

I loved Dr. Freberg. She is truly an intelligent woman and she really knows what she is talking about. At times she moves a little bit quickly, but the tests were a fair reflection of the material covered. Reading the book before her lectures helps a lot in regards to knowing what to study. You will need to go to class to get your iClicker points. Even if you do have an 8 am class. Just bring coffee. You'll be fine.

Awesome professor. take all her classes, even though they are difficult. Don't expect your high school AP psych class to let you coast, because trying that didn't work for me.

Laura Freberg is a great professor. There are three total tests which are non-cumulative and worth 75% of the grade. The other 25% are from clicker questions in class and writing assignments. Sometimes the lecture is boring but that is mainly due to the material and not Laura. She is pretty funny and always makes the material fun. Overall she is very helpful and the class is pretty simple if you study and memorize all the terms and stuff.

Dr. Freberg is to smart for her own good, she should not be teacher for a general ed course, shes on tenure and does what ever she wants and tells us many times that she can. She offer so much extra credit and say it will be added on to our test grades, but in reality it is just away to waste our time and get participants for her pet projects. She mind rapes every one with about how she was the shit in the '70's and was a christ figure at UCLA, I probably her this about 30 times. She portrays herself as a savant, she knows her psychology well and uses it to look down apon you and trick you into believing things that aren't truths. For example she does not hand out the syllabus in class, by doing this she makes it so no one reads it, and in the syllabus she hides policies that will eventually be used against you and your grade. Also, she makes you buy her extremely over worded book that will suck your life away by trying to understand the cobwebs of lies that she depicts in this book. The book chapters are 70 pages each and each test is on about six chapter, and each chapter has 15 questions on it, a third are about irrelevant pictures or graphs that are in the book that no one reads because there to tired of trying to understand the same idea said in three different ways per chapter.Theres three tests of equal weight and clicker questions in the lectures themselves. The tests go like this, everyone gets below a 70% on the tests, then she emails a curve out after. From the curve you get the idea that you have a B in the class. But for the final grades of the class she says that those curves were not real and then she makes up a new curve that drops everyone, one letter grade lower then they previously thought.

Freburg has a very good understanding of what she is teaching and is willing to help. I defintelly recommend reading the topics before and STUDY for the mid term. Makes psy super interesting

Professor is great and the class is very interesting, but she talks too long during class lectures and makes the class teach themselves with info she hasn't covered for tests. Tests can be hard but you just have to study ALOT. She curves the whole class at the end.

Dr. Freberg is the BEST!!! She is understanding and takes a biological perspective to general psychology. There is a lot of homework as well as 5 essays that are computer grades. Tests were very far if you just read the book the day before the midterms. Definitely do the panopto (these are online lecture) a couple days before midterm. But, overall she is a great professor who is very knowledgeable and approachable.

I don't love Freberg.. but I don't hate her either. She's definitely enthusiastic about any topic she talks about, however morning lectures seemed extremely pointless to go to. She would go over about 4 slides every class, talk about 1 slide for about 5 minutes and go off about a random story for another 15 minutes--then move on. This being said, lectures were always very far behind than the readings, so expect to have to teach yourself/listen to the 1 hour of panaptos a day before the midterms. The online homework was easy points but were way too long/detailed. Don't bother emailing her because she won't answer you if she considers it to be a dumb question. Overall a fairly easy class as long as you read/make chapter outlines. Even if you don't get A's on the midterms, the whole class is curved a decent amount so you can get a good grade by just going to class & paying attention.

Talks so ridiculously slow, to the point where you won't even get through one slide through an entire lecture. She frequently gets off track, and you never know if it is a random tangent or if it is vital information for the midterm. Because she lectures so slowly, she rarely gets through all the material before the midterm, and then just tells you its your responsibility to understand it before the test. We had to do 2-3 chapters on our own for the final. Don't hesitate to go to office hours though, she will tell you exactly what she wants you to do on her weird online essays in order to get a good grade. Homework is easy points as well. Take this class if you are good at just reading the book yourself and teaching it to yourself, because she won't do it in class.

For starters, Laura is so kind! She's also very funny and jovial in the mornings so you don't feel so bad getting up to go to her lectures. She's such an approachable person and is incredibly smart. However, despite her good moods and overall decent teaching, I have quite a few bad things to say about this class. Please continue if you want to save yourself some trouble. 1.) All assignments are done online. This class is pretty much all online since almost nothing is covered in class. The readings are obnoxiously long, the homework questions are very long-winded, and the essay prompts are vague. All of these things are on different websites as well, so the homework questions and readings don't correlate well. Don't be surprised if you end up with a D or lower in this area. Come on, Laura, you can do better than that. 2.) Because it is basically an online class, the professor fails to recognize your difficulty. As nice as she is, Laura will not respond to your emails much. She's not very responsive but in her defense, she has a LOT of students. If you have an urgent inquiry, see her during office hours where she's far more helpful than anywhere else. 3.) The online systems are computers, so there is no room for error. Homework assignments are about 20 questions each, and each question is divided into 4-5 questions with a reading and chart apiece. It will take you anywhere between an hour to three hours to do one assignment. Aplia is a very confusing site and doesn't correspond well to the excessive reading on the Cengage Learning website. They're supposed to be related, but the questions are complexly worded and list multiple answers that are all possible, but only one is correct. You can only retake assignments once or twice. In conclusion, this is a miserably organized course. The lectures don't match the homework. The homework doesn't match the reading, and the essays are beyond me. Nothing is organized. Why can't Laura use PolyLearn as a means of uploading assignments and essays? That alone would vastly transform this class. I am very disappointed! Do not take this class if you're looking to fulfill an easy GE credit. Don't be fooled by the seemingly easy material...it is a nightmare when it comes time to study and prepare for exams. Get ready to study for hours and hours! ***NOTE: This review is biased against the course because it caused my GPA to drop, resulting in the loss of any and all my financial aid. Depressing.***

Excellent professor. Although lecture can be boring at times and she gives A LOT of online homework, this is not a hard class. She makes many jokes and wants her students to succeed. She compiles a list of most-missed questions from the midterms and puts them on the final. They are literally exactly the same, word for word. Go to her office hours and copy down the correct answers, you won't regret it. However, not everyone did well in this class. You do have to study, and often must know things in more detail than expected. Reading the book is a must as she sometimes tests on things only the book covered.

She is extremely intelligent and a very cool person. She clearly presents the material in an easily understandable way. For the tests you have to read the book too though because she tests a lot of details. It's a good book that she wrote herself. There are two midterms, one cumulative final, one 2-3 page essay every first five weeks, and online tests on every chapter. There is a lot of busy work, a lot. If you want a good grade you have to put a lot of time into this class. Or just plan well. Do NOT slack behind! She is extremely helpful at her office hours, go there! She will both look through your texts before submitting them and explain whatever you need repeated. I learned A LOT! From what I've heard this class was way harder than the other Introduction PSY class. This is the small one. But it was worth it to me since I learned so much, including how to study better. Overall I very much recommend her as a teacher, she is truly fantastic! The class is also excellent to get a shit load of knowledge about psychology in general.

While Dr. Freberg is a kind woman with lots of funny anecdotes, she is very unclear about what material you actually need to know and study, which makes her tests very difficult. The online textbook that we are forced to buy and read is extremely unorganized, hard to take notes on, and the chapters are unnecessarily long. I found that I had to spend a ridiculous amount of time reading the textbook and doing the homework for concepts that should have been more straightforward and required a lot less busy work.

Professor Freberg is a very kind and approachable teacher, but her class was much more time-consuming than it needed to be. You have to purchase her online textbook, which is hard to follow in regards to her lectures in class. There is homework due every Friday night at 11 and if you don't do it throughout your week, expect to spend hours working on it the day of. The online homework is on a different website from her textbook and does not necessarily coincide well with the reading. The reading itself takes a long time to read, and the homework is even lengthier. The online homework is not helpful because it is graded by computer and she does not go over it or answer any questions in class. On yet another website are essays that are due every week. One is due every Friday night at 9 for about the first 6 weeks of the quarter. The essays are vague and also graded computer, so it is an unfair representation of your knowledge on the subject. Both midterms my class took had fairly low averages, representing how poorly the information was represented. If it weren't for all the dependency on websites for the class, it would be a much more efficient course. The lack of feedback made this class more difficult than it needed to be.

I'll cut to the chase... do not take this class is there are other lectures open. Dr. Freberg is SO nice. I absolutely love her as a person, but she gives so much work. The online access was like $140, which is really expensive. There are at least 2 chapters of hw due every Friday NO EXCUSES, PLUS, there are essays due every Friday for like 5 weeks as well. So the workload is overwhelming for a GE.

Freberg is an amazing professor. She is super smart, and she can teach really well. I always looked forward to going to this class because the material is really interesting and Freberg is a great lecturer. The class is also pretty easy, just a lot of online quizzes and a couple online essays that she'll read and critique before you submit. TAKE FREBERG. You won't regret it.

Dr. Freberg is super nice and funny. She likes to talk a lot and the course is a lot of work. Her tests are very hard, too. She is a super smart lady, but her class is just average for what it could be.

Professor Freberg is such a great professor. She is very passionate about her subject and loves to talk. There is a lot of work, but it is very manageable if you space out your time and DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. The tests aren't bad as long as you study. There's a lot of material to study for each test (5-6 chapters each) so studying just the night before will hurt your grade. She provides a lot of extra credit opportunities: just under 10 extra credit essays and 3 research participation opportunities that are easy points. It was a very interesting class and I learned a lot. Received a B+ but was 0.5 away from an A-. Go to her during office hours if you need help with tests or essays!!

I was blocked into this class last quarter and I dreaded taking it. It turns out, Freberg is extremely kind and passionate about the subject. She is very knowledgeable and talks a lot. The class was interesting, but you have to put in the time. Just to warn you ahead of time, you will have an essay due each week, along with online homework problems. There are plenty of opportunities to gain extra credit, however, and she gives points for showing up to class and answering iClicker questions. Overall, a lot of work, but its worth it.

Freberg was one of the most intelligent and down to earth professors I've had at cal poly. She really knows psychology and opened my eyes to its scientific basis where before I had thought it was considered more liberal arts. No doubt this class is way more work than it should be for a GE, and keep in mind that PSY 202 is considered to be much easier. However, I thought this class was still worth it to take because I really did learn a lot and Freberg was awesome. Her exams are not too bad if you study, and she curves a ton on them. The class is a pretty easy B but I had to work hard for the A. Would recommend this class if you wanna learn a lot and have a great teacher, wouldn't recommend if you are already taking 16 units and looking to add another "easy" GE.

I took this class as a GE but I honestly loved it. Freberg is one of the writers of the textbook of this class. It's definitely a lot of work for a GE but I thought it was totally worthwhile. There are two midterms and a final. The final isn't cumulative so it's basically like a third midterm. Before each midterm she goes over the test in class and tells you what concepts to study for. Make sure and study these concepts because they are exactly what will be on the exams. The most annoying part of this class was the online MindTap textbook. Flashcards are assigned for each chapter and you have to get to chapter 2 for each chapter by a certain day to get credit- which is almost impossible to do. But that's not a large part of the grade. There's also a lot of memorization needed for this class and she goes through material very fast. She's a good professor who's easy to talk to, funny, and was very open to answering any questions I had in class and during office hours. I highly recommend her for this class.

Amazing professor. Professor Freberg curved our tests to the highest score for both the midterms and things like the online homework and clicker questions. Although not necessarily a difficult class, you'll need to put some work in. Professor Freberg makes the class interesting and for one of the first times I was excited to show up to a non-major class at 8am everyday. She's also very helpful in office hours, and willing to go the extra mile for her students if you need something. Definitely take one of her classes to get the most out of your GE credit.

Dr. Freberg is a very good professor. Her classes were interesting and she presented the information very clearly and understandably. She writes her own textbook, which means you really have to read a lot, and do the online homework which was really excessive, but she does know her stuff really well. I loved this class, the only problem was the huge workload. Along with reading, the class entailed about 6 essays (written and graded online) 10 online tests which took about half an hour to an hour to complete, one quiz per chapter, and then about 2 other homework assignments per chapter, all done through the online textbook system. This was just way too much work for this class, and a lot of it was not necessary for understanding the material. Overall I loved this class, and Dr. Freberg is really good, so i would recommend it, i just would not recommend that you take the class if you already have a busy quarter, as it is really excessive.

This professor gives you so much work for a ge. It was more than any class I've ever had. Furthermore she has all these little assignments that count part of your grade that is for her research... It's tedious and she is NOT understanding.

What a nice lady. If you do bad in the class, it's really because you did not give a damn about anything and put in zero effort. I would be surprised if anyone got below a B in her class. Two midterms, one final, all online plus a whole a lot of extra credit opportunities. There's weekly "homework" and the only reason I got a B in this class is because I became a lazy piece of sh*t and didn't want to spend 20 minutes a week doing some of it. My bad. There's no way you anyone can rip on this professor. Name another professor who gives out extra credit like it's Christmas and still accepts extra credit assignments when it's a week past due. Besides how great of a person Dr.Freberg is, the class is so interesting. You learn so much about yourself and how to cope with different stressors. Take this class and with Dr.Freberg. Just trust me.

Professor Freberg knows the information really well. Everything is online, but I definitely recommend still going to the lectures. Sometimes she says things in class that isn't in the recorded lecture or the textbook. Also, she takes attendance and sometimes there are questions that count towards your grade that is given in class to make sure that you understand the information. You can discuss them with the people next to you and I got the right answer about 99% of the time which boosted my grade a little bit. The homework is easy. You get unlimited tries to get the answers right. Definitely, redo the homework if you didn't get 100% the 1st time. It'll help you in the long-run. There are optional lectures on her PolyLearn and I definitely recommend listening to those and take notes on them. Combine your notes from the recorded lecture with your notes from the in-class lecture. The tests are online and open-note. Taking good notes is key. Have a tab open with your notes on it. Have the online textbook open on a tab. With the online textbook, there is a search feature that searches through the whole textbook of what you typed in. I used that on the tests and it was very helpful. REMEMBER that the tests have a time-limit. All of the tests have a 1-hour time limit. The final has a 1.5-hour time limit. If you are struggling, definitely stop by her office hours and she is amazing and understanding. She will definitely help you in any way that she can so that you will do better in the class. Definitely, study for the tests. Don't rely on them being open-note. You don't have enough time to look up all of the answers to the all of the questions. Lastly, DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. The extra credit is usually either studies to participate in or surveys to answer for a study.

As a freshman I got blocked into this class and it wasn't the worst GE I could have been block into. Dr. Freberg presents the material very well, but showing up to an 8am lecture four days a week is a little rough. She does take attendance which is lame but there are ways around it. The class is a little tedious and time consuming considering it's a GE. Overall she is a great professor and presents the material very well and is always there to help. All the homework, midterms, and final are all online and take home which was a bonus. Get a group together to take her midterms and final, it's super helpful.

Freberg is an average professor who is enthusiastic about the material she teaches. However, her morning lectures are almost entirely pointless since she just skims through the same material that's in the textbook. Going to the lectures doesn't add any value, except that attendance and participation make up 15% of the grade. Lectures are always very far behind than the readings, so expect to have to teach yourself/listen to the 1 hour of recorded lectures a day before the midterms. On top of that, to take this class, you are required to pay for TopHat (for attendance and classroom quizzes) and MindTap (like PolyLearn but costs money), which all add up to around $200. It was a huge letdown that I had to pay so much for two broken systems. The online homework was easy points but was way too long/detailed. Each week, we are assigned two chapters to read from her textbook, which are around 50 pages each. On top of reading the textbook, we are required to complete one quiz (20 MC questions) and one essay (50 MC questions) for each chapter, along with one essay. The textbook goes very in depth, and all of this work makes many of the students lose interest in the topic. Overall a fairly easy class as long as you set aside at least 12 hours to do the assignments and take notes on the readings.

Dr. Freberg is one of the most genuine, kind and knowledgable professors at Cal Poly. She is an expert in her field and can communicate her knowledge very effectively. I thoroughly enjoyed her course. This is the first class in my 2 years at Cal Poly that I never missed a class. It is fascinating what you learn. Study hard and you should do good. I would highly suggest taking a course with Dr. Freberg.

As my first year at Cal Poly, I did not really know what to expect when I walked into Freberg's class and honestly; she is one of the nicest and sweetest woman I have ever met. Her class is composed of 2 midterms, a final, and attendance/poll credit. I also had to spend around $100 on her Cengage app and mindtap because she uses the book she writes herself. But overall, I learned so much in this class. I REALLY recommend you to do the extra credit because they add one point to your overall score. I got a B+ on my first midterm but with 8 points of extra credit points, it boosted me to a 100%. Yes, there is a lot of material to cover in this class and I dreaded reading chapters with 13 sections. GO TO CLASS EVERYDAY!! She takes polls and attendence! There should be no reason why you do not get at least a B in this class if you at least study what she says. I would also recommend watching her lecture videos because there is often not enough time to cover two chapters a week, which she sometimes does. Lastly, do study for your midterm with your notes and look up quizlet for some practice tests.

Dr. Freberg is a very kind professor and presents the information effectively. It's a pretty normal class and the content is interesting. Be sure to stay on top of the readings and take notes. The lecture content is fairly similar (if not the same) as the textbook reading so it's not that bad if you miss a lecture, though I do recommend going to lecture whenever possible since it helps to make things a bit clearer. She teaches this class online in the spring but in regular in-person lecture format in the fall and winter. She gives several opportunities for extra credit through participating in psych studies, which is definitely nice. Your grade is based on the readings (which have quizzes and sometimes writing assignments at the end of each section so be sure to do them!), attendance, Canvas assignments, online midterms and the final. She's very helpful and understanding if you need help

Dr. Freberg has a great personality- she is always enthusiastic and entertaining in class. She is not a stickler for keeping a schedule... she doesn't mind pushing back a midterm or slightly getting off topic in class. She is an awesome teacher, and I would take her again for any other class I could. YOU SHOULD TOO!!!

Dr Freberg did a very good job in teaching this course. She knows her information well and comes to class prepared. She listens to her students and allows us to express our opinions about testing material and ect. She makes me wish that I was a Psy major, she makes her classes fun and interesting.

A pretty decent professor! She definitely knows what she's talking about, and does an okay job of presenting it to the class. sometimes though, she'll get on a role and you'll have to slow her down to explain some of the material, but that's not too hard.

She was a great prof in my opinion. She was really interesting and if my class wasn't at 8 in the morning, I probably would have gone every day. This was definitely my most interesting class yet at Cal Poly, and I attribute a great deal of my interest to her teaching. She is very upbeat and extremely patient and personable. She doesn't give homework but her tests are mostly based on lectures. This was a tough class, but it was enjoyable despite the difficulty. Her final is just another midterm, so it's not cumulative. I definitely recommend her to anyone who is bored with old slow talking professors. She's awesome.

Professor Freberg is an awesome Professor. When she gets on a roll in her lectures she does tend to go pretty fast but if you ask her to repeat it she doesn't have a problem with it. She is a very approachable Professor. The only problem I had was that it was at 8 in the morning but other than that the class was real interesting.

Dr. Freberg is very knowledgeable about biopsychology, and is also a good lecturer. The course covers the biological functioning of the brain and nervous system in great detail, but that's to be expected in a 300-level course in neuroscience. The course grade is based on four tests--a neuroanatomy identification test (which requires much memorization), two midterms and a final. She tested a lot from the book, SO DO THE READING. Overall, this was a very good course, and I'm glad I took it for general ed. as well as for a course toward my psych minor.

This class was definitly challenging but really interesting. Freberg's lectures sometimes went into what seemed like impossible to understand detail's of the human brain, but if you went back and read that section in the book it made more sense. However, unless you really care you probably won't because the book is so boring. Try to keep up with the readings and do them before the lecture. I didn't, and I think if I had I would have been able to get an A. Bottom line, I would reccomend this class (Freburg is funny, caring, and knows her stuff) but plan to put some effort into it.

Freberg is simply an excellent teacher. She really cares about her students and does everything she can to help students succeed. She understands that this class is tough. She presents the material very clearly and is very interesting. I thouroughly enjoyed the class and would definitely recommend this to anyone. One more thing, her daughter can bench press 250 lbs! But again, an excellent, caring, and interesting teacher.

Dr. Freberg was amazing! Yes, taking PSY 340 (upper division class) as a Freshman was pretty innovative and unique, but it certainly was manageable. Dr. Freberg goes out of her way to help and assist all her students. She's very knowledgable, insightful, creative, and energetic. The course material of biological psychology (physiological neuroscience) is not a cake walk, but she explains all the information very clearly. The only impediment a student may face is that she tends to lecture quickly. Sometimes there's almost no stopping her when she gets on a roll, but all you have to do is ask her to slow down and she will. There is next to no homework whatsoever in this class. But, be warned, her tests can be extremely challenging. The first exam is all memorization of various images and anatomical structures in the brain. It was fairly simple . . . just study it continuously. 20 - 30 minutes everyday is a good idea for that exam. Certainly don't study it right before the exam. BAD PLAN! The rest of the exams (all multiple choice) cover the lecture material and information from the book. The book is not easy, but has a lot of pictures in it, so for VISUAL learners, it's certainly to your advantage! Just study both (book and notes) for the exams, and you should do just fine. Also, even if multiple-choice exams aren't exactly your thing, do the extra credit assignments Dr. Freberg offers. She offers so much extra credit that really a student has no reason to fail her class. I don't know of anyone who has flunked PSY 340 with her. And as mentioned before, Dr. Freberg is wonderful! She's friendly, outgoing, trusting, intelligent, and very helpful. And seek her out during office hours as well. She will go the extra mile to help you succeed. But you too must make the commitment to work. All-in-all, an awesome class. EXCELLENT PROFESSOR! Take PSY 340 with Freberg!

This was such an awesome class and Freberg is such a cool professor. There is no homework, just exams. The first exam is all about memorization, the others are a balance of text and lecture. Freberg uses powerpoint to lecture and is really good about pointing out what material is important for exams. She is really into her job and is very passionate about the subject. I think what I liked the most about her is how down-to-earth and honest she is...So much so that I'm taking another class from her this quarter (Psy 456). TAKE FREBERG!!

Dr. Freberg is an awesome lady, although this class can be very challenging at certain times, she is definetly the lady to take this class with. 340 has four midterms, one anatomy test that is cake and three other tests, that are not cake, but they are multiple choice. Best of yet, she is professor that cares a great deal about her students and will do anything to help you succeed. Your awesome Dr. Freberg.

I was not excited to take this course and even though the material was challenging for me, she communicated the subject very well. The text she wrote also communicates the material well. She gives a manageble amount of reading and divides the work into four exams. She has a sharp intelligent wit without any pretentiousness or arrogance. She seems like a happy person who enjoys life, her family, and teaching, which is admirable and pleasant to be around. People recommended her for Biopsych and I understand why. I got a lot out of the class and have a lot of respect for this field even though its not my personal passion in psychology.

I would highly recommend taking Dr. Freberg for biopsych. Her lectures are really clear, and she always uses a power point that you can download online. She's also pretty entertaining most of the time, so you don't start falling asleep even when she's talking about something like cholinergic receptors. There's a neuroanatomy test and three midterms (the final only counts as a midterm). The neuroanatomy test was just straight memorization, so you can get 100% on it easily if you study. The midterms were a little harder, because some of the questions were pretty detailed. However, she does give extra credit; you can post something on the message board on blackboard once a week and get a point for every time, and she'll randomly take attendance, usually when not a lot of people show up, and give you extra credit for that. My one complaint was that she wrote the book that she used, and it cost $110, whereas the other class just used a notebook type thing that was $10.

BioPsy is a very intense class and Laura Freberg is the best professor for the job. She is very clear with her material and doesn't try to trick you on the exams. There are 3 midterms 75 questions each and the questions are in the order you learned them in class. She has great stories to back up her lecture material and she wrote the book so there is no confusion between lecture and book material. Definitely take Freberg for BioPsy!

She's a pretty good teacher, but the class that I took was more based on biology than psychology, so for me as psychology major, I felt that I had to work a harder for this class than my other classes to understand it. The tests aren't bad and the first test is memorization and counts for a huge percentage of your grade. Overall, the class was good. As long as you work hard to understand the material, you'll be fine.

Dr. Freberg is very knowledgeable. She is approachable and quite helpful. Exams are reasonable, but she does give some extra credit. She uses a textbook that she wrote so her class lectures are very consistent with her book.

I was a little scared to take this class, but honestly it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. She definitely gives you tons of extra credit opportunities, so do them all, it can change a whole letter grade! you should aim to get 100% on the first test, just start studying early, it's just memorization... her tests aren't easy, you really do have to spend a lot of time studying. tips for studying: read each chapter slowly and UNDERSTAND all the concepts, go over it until you get it, because some questions are detailed and just briefly looking at your notes isn't going to help you much. She doesn't give us study guides, but we use powerpoint slides which are kind of like a study guide..she wrote the book so everything matches up. For our class, we ended up skipping a couple chapters because we ran out of time, usually it was three chapters to a test. Freberg is a smart lady, talkative, coffee drinker, she's funny.. the hour goes by pretty quickly. You have to try, but it's not that hard

She is an amazing professor even though it is a very difficult subject. My advice is to ace the first neuro ID test (she let's you retake it if you get lower than an 85) then study as much as possible for the midterms. MAKE SURE AND DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!! It brought me up 6% to an A at the end.

Biopsych is a challenging and interesting course. Reading the book doesn't replace going to class, and vice versa. Do as much extra credit as possible--it really helps if you just had a bad testing day. Important: iClickers are FOR CREDIT. Lots of my classmates seemed to think they were strictly for extra credit. The way it works--you get credit for participating, then you get an extra point for answering correctly. iClickers are a part of the class... so if you don't want to miss out on 10% of your grade, use them. Tests aren't easy, so don't try to prep immediately beforehand. Dr. Freberg is a great prof and I would definitely recommend her.

Best PSY teacher at Poly. She expects you to work, which is so great to see in a Liberal Arts Dept class. There is a reason people who didn\'t get A\'s still love this class, it is challenging and you really want to learn. DO the extra credit. I couldn\'t go to most of the events or talks she offered EC for due to scheduling conflicts, but if I did, my grade would have went up to an A.

Dr. Freberg was an awesome professor. She wrote the textbook so she knows the topic VERY well, and that means that her lectures mirror the textbook. Still, you should go to class because she takes attendance with clickers and she will tell you what you do not have to memorize from the textbook. She offers A LOT of extra credit (which you should definitely take advantage of) and she also lets you retake the first neuro ID exam (which if you can memorize, is the only easy A in the class). This class is really interesting and Freberg is great.

Fantastic lecturer, tries to lighten every lecture with humor, and affords the student ample opportunities for extra credit--which is important in 340! I would recommend her to anybody. She's very down to earth, friendly, warm, and I feel that she really cares about her students and their success. A+, Dr. Freberg.

Not an easy A class, but super interesting and if you study you can get an A. And she is an AWESOME teacher, very nice and laid back, take her and the class if you get a chance.

I loved this teacher. She was incredible at presenting the information. She wrote the book and it's almost identical to lectures which help reinforce the material because it is difficult. I read the chapters twice to help study and it helped a lot. There's a neuro ID test at the beginning of the class in week 3 i think. It's easy if you study. Also she provides a lot of extra credit opportunities. Take this class, it's incredibly interesting.

Freberg is good teacher, and she is extremely knowledgeable on biopsych. I found the class extremely interesting, and I liked Freberg a lot. The best advice I can give is take notes on your laptop and write down everything she says. SHe talks pretty quickly, but pay attention and try to understand what she is saying. Her tests cover a good majority of her lecture as well as info from the reading. The best way to get an A is to do the reading before the lecture, take good notes, and study A LOT. Personally, I made quizlet flashcards after every class and studied those for the tests. I received an A, so it worked!

If you like Amy Farrah Fowler from The Big Bang Theory, you'll love Dr. Freberg!

A very easy class to do well in. I just did not study well for the midterms which were surprisingly difficult if you cannot keep the facts straight. She teaches interesting classes and makes the material easy to understand especially since her lectures are verbatim from the textbook which she wrote. Provides endless extra credit opportunities which was a lifesaver for me. Take full advantage of the extra credit! Psy 340 had 2 midterms and a final that was not cumulative. The tests make up 75% of you grade so do decent on those and maximize your points for the other 25% and you can get an easy A/B.

Dr. Freberg was a great teacher. I took this Spring quarter of my freshman year and while I will admit that the class was decently hard for me, I believe that is mostly due to the fact that it is a junior class that I took as a freshman. The class was really interesting and I learned a lot and did well. Her class notes are outlines of the book so if you miss class it's not entirely all that problematic, however I recommend going every day because she explains things better in class than she does in her book and it helps you get a better idea of what she cares about for the tests. I plan on taking her again when I can and would definitely recommend her.

Your success in this class depends on your willingness to read the material and understand the concepts. Don't try to memorize the information; instead try to put it into some sort of context. The more you work with the material, the better you will understand it. Freberg is a phenomenal professor with a passion for the subject. Do not feel nervous or scared of the "science" aspect of this class--it is, in essence, the same as any class. It requires commitment and dedication. You can certainly earn an A or B in this class, if you put your mind to it!

This class was so much fun! With that in mind, it is a difficult class. Freberg is essentially a big kid that loves to learn. She is really good at presenting the facts with her own real life experiences. However, the tests require you to really understand, not just recall. You have to apply what you learned. This was one of my favorite classes, don't recommend as a freshman!

Freberg is so nice and really knows her stuff. I was really scared to take this class cause i'm not very good at science but i ended up really liking this class and found it super interesting. A few tips for the class: 1. READ THE BOOK. it will help you a lot cause she writes the book herself so if you don't catch everything in the lecture you can get it in the book 2. she does a ton of extra credit, you can easily score an extra 20-30 points. DO IT EARLY. you will be really glad you did come the final. 3.come to class, she does clicker points in class and its an easy way to boost your class Also, i didn't do very well on the first midterm (59%) but i was able to bounce back and get a B in the class so it is totally doable!

I was really disappointed in Freberg's class for all the hype she gets. She was never there and always prioritized her other obligations over teaching us. I felt she thought she was too good to be here and always talked about UCLA and how 'you'd think she would be at a more research based university'. Her teaching was average but she never showed up and refused to change the class to her constant absences. There was a neuro ID test about two weeks in that requires you to memorize most of the brain's anatomy and is worth 10% of your grade. You are able to retake it anytime during the quarter (before finals week) and is just pure memorization. There is MindTap homework, which I guarantee you will forget to due everyweek and is due Friday at 11pm. Its usually 2 chapters and online. Very easy to get full credit. You can literally 'check' your answer before submitting it until its right. That is 15%. There is also iclicker points which mostly have to do with attendance which is another 10%. The rest are tests and hard AF.

Dr. Freberg is AMAZING. This class is a lot of work (not necessarily work that is due, but lots of studying), however, it's really interesting and Dr. Freberg has great knowledge of the subject. There are also plenty of extra credit opportunities. The class may seem stressful at first, especially with the Neuro ID test, but I promise it's not as impossible as it seems. I loved this class and loved Dr. Freberg and would recommend her for any class. She's so knowledgeable and makes class so interesting!

Dr. Freberg is the dopest mother fucking teacher ever. She presents material clearly and is very understanding for students. She has 3 midterms throughout the year, the final is a the last midterm basically. (No comprehensive final) Also make sure to do all the extra credit including the coloring book, blog, researches, and more. The extra credit goes into your test grade so basically you can get some bomb ass grades. She does most of her stuff online through her book, make sure to stay on top of that and you should be good. Good study habit: take notes before you go to class that way you can highlight whatever she covers in class.

Laura Freberg is very nice woman and she very accommodating. That being said, her slides contain almost no material, and she just talks through class while presenting pictures and keywords within her power points. Reading the textbook (which she wrote) takes a tremendous amount of time. Basically everything is online for the class, including homework and exams. Homework is extremely easy, just tedious. 2 midterms are 75 questions (1 hour time limit) and the final is 90 questions (1.5 hour time limit). Everything is open note and multiple choice. The questions are very, very detailed. 65% of final grade is based on exams. Best advice, work together on the exams.

Dr. Freberg is AMAZING. This and her Into Psych are two of my favorite classes I have taken at Cal Poly. After taking her Intro class, I even decided to switch majors to Psychology. She is extremely knowledgeable and I came to class looking forward to the material. While this class could sound daunting, she made the concepts easy to understand. She wrote the textbook herself and lectures basically cover the whole book. Going to class is a must because she has participation and in-class questions through an app, which is an easy grade booster if you go to class and listen (answers to the app's questions are literally on the previous slide.) The online homework is easy but gets you to look at the book and master the vocab. The homework has unlimited tries so do it. All of her tests were online and not cumulative. She makes them difficult enough that you don't have time to look up all the answers but if you take notes online or even just copy and paste the slide outlines, most of the questions to the test were on there if you wanted to look. The Neuro ID is easy if you practice a few days in advance and pay attention during the anatomy chapter. She is very helpful in office hours and understanding.

Dr. Freberg has honestly been my favorite teacher at Cal Poly. I highly suggest taking BioPsych with her as she is a true expert in the field. I took PSY 201 with her also and had the same amazing experience. She can effectively teach hard subjects and answers questions really well. Her lectures are always fun and really well though out. I would highly suggest taking this course seriously and reading the textbook as there is lots of information. Overall the course is very well organized and Dr. Freberg knows what she is talking about. My favorite most genuine professor I've ever had!

Dr.Freberg is probably one of the coolest people I have ever met. She is brilliant and super passionate which made the class fun to go to. However, it was decently hard. All of the tests are online but you still need to study a ton for them. Also, the exams are worth a lot of the grade but she offers a lot of extra credit and homework which boosts the grade if you do poorly on the exams. She goes very fast through the lectures but all of the information that she goes over in class is from the book. But even though she goes fast she does great at clarifying in office hours.

Laura is very organized. There are no surprises; she is very clear about what she expects on tests and term papers. Laura encourages questions, and never made anyone feel small because of what they asked. You need to read and make an effort for this class, but the class will not kill you. Laura is very personable, and seems to do what she reasonable can to help students.

Dr. Freberg is very personable and interesting. She clearly explains what she expects and will do everything she can to help students succeed. Her tests are largely based on her lectures but they are not obscure.

Freberg in 456 in addition to the course material she tries to tell you how to be better parents and child care takers. I think the information presented was valuable for anyone. I thoroughly enjoyed attending her lectures, and I would give her my highest recommendation for any student wanting to take any course with her. Exams were based off material from lecture, and your grade will be determined mostly by the the two exams, so put the appropriate effort into them.

This is the second class I've taken from Freberg; Cal Poly really needs more professors like her! Freberg gives excellent lectures and her tests are extremely fair. This class was challenging, but really interesting. Grading is based on two exams and a research proposal paper. The textbook for the class is not necessary at all. Freberg takes any information she wants you to know from the text and incorporates it into her lectures. Take this class, it's great and Freberg is fantastic!!

Dr. Freberg is by far my favorite professor at Cal Poly. I had her for 340 and 456 in the same quarter, and she was awesome. The best piece of advice I can give you is PRINT OUT THE POWERPOINTS. She has them available on blackboard, and it makes it SO much easier to absorb the information in lecture if you're not scribbling down notes as fast as you can. She presents a TON of information, but gives you a good idea of what you'll be tested on. One midterm, one final, one research proposal. The textbook is unneccessary, but you do need the casebook for the exam. Freberg rocks, I guarantee you'll like her. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!

Freberg is a very nice lady, that really enjoys her job and is an excellent professor. She presents all the material clearly and easy to understand. Take her if you can.

Dr. Freberg is a very talented teacher. She is picky on tests and most of the material comes directly from her powerpoints and lecture. Try to attend most of the class. She is organized and things make sense. Interesting material too (like abnormal psy for kids!)
