Frayne is an excellent teacher. She is one of the few professors whom really, really cares about her students and how well they are doing. She gets to know her students personally and never forgets you. She involves everybody in the class and has a great teaching curriculum. I took the class to fulfill my intl requirement, I am very glad I did. I know a lot more about intl business now and I had a good time doing it. Take Frayne, I highly recommend her.

Best teacher at cal poly, by far. If she offered a class, I would take it just to have the privilege of being taught by her again. I learned so much about international business, learned some important life lessons from her, and have a new mentor. She gives every single class her all- through her struggle with cancer she still tried as hard as possible to be there for the class. I love colette, and would highly recommend her to someone who is ready to learn a lot and study hard.

I really liked this class and really learned alot. She really seems to care about her students. The exams were essay/short answer. no final but learning journal writeup and team reports due finals week. Simulation took some time to learn how to use but the TA, Erica, did a great job explaining things and helping me understnad how to get the most out of the project. I hope to take another class from her again.

Okay, "C" is an aquired taste for sure but I urge you to stick with it despite her first day "talk of doom." She always weeds out people that way... affectively too! No other teacher will work as hard and take a more personal interest than she will. There wasn't a student in the class whose name she didn't know and a person she didn't care about. She expects your best effort and will get it some how... despite your best efforts. I say take her. p.s. Don't even dream about getting out of class early.

Collete is totally awesome. A teacher that actually cares about her students, who would have thought of such a concept. Basically you discuss in depth many case studies. I can actually say I thoroughly enjoyed this class, and walked away a very good insight into what international HR management entails. Highly Recommend. A++++++

If you can take Colette before you graduate, make it a point! She's amazing!! The class was a lot of fun and I learned a lot. She taught HR from an international prospective which made it much more interesting than domestic HR. She loves her students and will get to know each and every person who has class with her. Class participation is very important, so be sure to come to class. Colette has by far been the best professor I've ever had.

Colette is the best teacher I have had in my entire life. She does expected a lot from her students, because she wants students who are going to try their best to be successful. Her class taught me a lot about the realities of business, and she uses excellent real world examples. Colette also cares deeply for all of her students, she is willing to help out anyone who needs it. Lastly, I'd like to say that Colette has a dynamic teaching style that keeps the class interesting and fun.

Dr. Frayne is very knowledgeable in the topic (Int'l Business) and can convey the information quite well. She was always well prepared for each days lecture. These are two things that I certainly can't say about all the professors is the COB. Dr. Frayne also takes the time to get to know the students and she is always available to help you...even in academic areas not directly related to her class. But be warned, she does not allow any slakers so do your reading and be prepared to participate in class discussions.

Colette's class is the best I have taken at Cal Poly. She nearly scared me and half the class with her expectations and in presenting her expectations on the first day of classes. I can honestly say that this is the hardest I have ever worked in a class but this is the most a teacher has ever taught me. Rather than just lecture at you with 30 year old notes, she repeatedly involves the class. Beware...class preparation and reading prior to is vital. She cares for her students in a big way and if you can hang in there and show her you're giving it your best shot, you will have a friend for life. I wish every student at Poly had to take her class.

Awesome teacher! Before taking this course, I had no idea of what to expect in regards of her curriculum of the class and most importantly her way of teaching. But when I sat through her lecture for the first time, I knew she would be an outstandig teacher. She will direct and feed knowledge like you would never believe. Taking her as a professor is a win, win situation with nothing to lose but everything to gain by an exponential amount.

I initially went to this class for a friend so she didn't get dropped the first day. However, Colette was SO impressive that I decided to sit in on the class for the rest of the quarter. This was a 5-week Summer Quarter class and went VERY quickly, but I gained more from it than I have almost any other class I have taken at Cal Poly. Colette is personable, fun, full of energy, and KNOWS her stuff. I would recommend her to anyone who is serious about learning management or international skills and is willing to work hard. She will push you and demand a lot, but the rewards are well worth it.

Work load is not tough in itself, but Collette demands a lot of you in class, as opposed to out of class. "What's the so what?" learn it, know it. If you read each case presented and participate in class you earn a high grade. Do not be passive in class! Not much homework except for reading. Empahsis is highly on class discussion (35% of total grade).

Okay, let's be real - her course is tough - she DEMANDS alot - but I cannot still understand how one person is so passionate about what she does and instills that in each who can call ourselves "her graduates"...I am kinda drunk right now but know that she came to my party - and clapped when I got my diploma - and took a pix with my parents - she is beautiful (sorry) inside and out - and a fucking bright woman - take her, but be good to her, she is amazing.

Her rating should be MORE than 4.0. Smart, sharp, current, demanding and very chill. If you want to learn, take her. If not, take someone else. She is way intense, demanding, and caring. She will make sure that you learn and also make sure that you develop as a person. In my lifetime, I am not sure I will ever meet someone like her. It is chill that someone said she was beautiful. She IS. But she succeeds on more than her beauty. Sometimes you wonder when she is oh so smart and tough and you worry what she thinks about you. Go up and ask her. She is way too honest for anyone. Colette, thanks. I love you. And, so do all of your students. And, your student athletes. You also understand that we "add value". You taught me that. The only complaint is that she loves the Broncos and the Yankees. She knows more about sports than any girl I have EVER met. BONUS.

Amaizing Course and Teacher!! The quarter goes by so fast with her. Don't take the class if you arent ready to learn or work hard--but if you are, the payoff is definitly worth it. She has won an Outstanding Teacher Award, cares about her students, buys you lunch, and will be a continuous contact even after the class has ended. The course consists of Case Studies and a simulation--the materials are interesting and challenging. Finally, there is one integrative exam at the end that is fair and essentially incorperates the main ideas from the various activities throughout the course. There are a few group papers and a learning essay as well. I would definitly recommend this teacher over any other.

SHE is the best professor and teacher that I have ever experienced. I am writing to confirm that she is demanding, smart, dedicated and amazing. I am also writing to WARN my friends that IF you want an EASY course, do NOT take her. She puts her heart and energy on the line - damn - I learned so much. About me, my teammates and life. BUT, if you are lazy, taking this course because you "havtu", find another course or teacher. Let's talk about the course: a huge ass project, a kick-ass exam, a constant pressure to perform in class, and a learning journal that I must admit - thougth was stupid at the beginning - but then would not replace ever. I tried to bs her and she figured me out. I respect the hell out of her for that. She knows her shit...and I learned so much. ONLY take this class if you can "buy in" to what she is about. IF NOT, take another course cuz she is too precious to be wasted on losers. And, to Colette (who I heard never has read these ratings...YOU are the bomb!

If you are not an international business major, do not take this course. Also, if you don't have at least 3 hours a day to commit to her homework, don't take this course. Colette is the best teacher I've ever taken at Cal Poly. Not only is she an exceptional instructor, but she's also a great friend. The exam that she gives is hard, but she does curve...A LOT! If you read the cases, and skim through the Root book you should be fine. The FINS simulation can get very difficult and can take a TON of time. Her class discussions are phenomenal. If you don't have time to read the entire case study for her class, just skimming through the case study and attending class everyday will prepare you for her test. Class participation is HUGE and is worth 25% of your grade. You'll learn a ton in this class that'll help you greatly in the future.

I agree with the former comment..I am taking DR. Frayne's course now and while at times I get really frustrated (with me - not her) I really believe that you must judge how much you want to learn and your ability to comment to her course standards. I am TRULY surprised that Dr. Frayne is a t Poly - she has her own consulting company (private) and makes a ton of $$$...but she will NEVER tell you anyting about that part. I really think she loves life here and is free spririt. So, who is Dr Frayne and what is her course like? She is the best teacher I have ever had in my life...I can say this because not many are like her at CAL POLY. Our University is very very very lucky to have her teaching International Management. I would say she is like a gypsy-I think that she could be anywhere in the world and be successful because she knows how to deal with people. Not just business people. all people. Her class is hard. You must be willing to spend hours reading, she assigns case studies, expects you to read current events (or watch them),basically, you must be prepared for EACH class-you get one pass. I took Colette for two classes (402 and 407). Yes, she has very high standards for her students but expects them to have high standards for her, too. Her teaching style is unnerving as you are expected, as part of your grade, to contribute daily to class discussions and case analysis--and she does not accept any bs-ing. She scared the poo out of me on the first day going over the syllabus. You have better be prepared, on your toes and on point. Her classes represented my jarring transition from generic learning to an applicable, real-world education. Colette's teaching style is also very demonstrative of her overall personality. She is involved, conscious, and motivating and I've found a lifelong inspiration in Colette. The best thing is that I know I am not an exception.

Colette is a wonderful professor who is very passionate about both her students and the subject matter. Whether you are an international concentration or need to take an international elective, I highly recommend taking one of Colette's courses. Business 402 is very interactive, and really utilizes the "learn by doing" approach by discussing and analyzing cases in class, researching international HR issues of MNC's and writing an individual paper on the topic of your choice. Her enthusiasm for international HR sparked my interest in the topic and I could not have asked for a better professor!

She uses real life examples and you will develop real life skills. You will be able to anaylize companies and understand so much. I can not even explain the about of utility I received out of those two classes. They care greatly for their students, and you will become great friends with them. Colette Frayne is THE BEST TEACHER AT CAL POLY HANDS DOWN. I am an international business major and took her class for bus407. Never have I enjoyed attending a class like I did with hers. I plan on taking her again next quarter if the class doesn\'t fill up too quickly. She cares about each and every one of her students as an individual and will do ANYTHING for them. She will even bring things to class for her students and does her best to make each class entertaining. I loved every second in her class and you will too. The only thing to remember is that you have to do all of the reading she assigns you. You WILL get called on in every class. But she won\'t make you feel bad about not knowing something if you are caught off guard. overall, take Fraynes class and you will love International Business, or atleast have a good time learning it.

Colette is one amazing teacher. She genuinely cares for each and every single one of her students, and is never afraid to show it. I will admit, the class is DEFINITELY tough, I spent a lot of time piecing together a solid Expat booklet (15-20 pages), and the group project (25-40 pages) took it's toll as well. But be sure to go to every class prepared to participate about the cases, and prepare yourself WELL for the brutal tests (All short answer with multiple parts). All in all I learned a TON more out of this class than I was expecting to and I'm definitely glad I was blessed to have Colette as a teacher.

There are likely only a handful of truly great professors at Cal Poly, and Colette is probably only the second one I've found so far. What sets her apart is not what she knows, her subject, or even her teaching style. Those things are great, but the truth is, you'll have a hard time finding another person who loves her students as much as Colette. She is one of the most authentic and honest people I have ever met in my young life. She is also one of the toughest, yet most understanding people I've ever met. Unlike probably every other professor, she is more of a friend than anything else. And she knows it. That doesn't mean the class is easy. But it can be done with focus and preparation. Her two projects: a 25-40 group paper with a super easy presentation, and then an individual 15-20 page paper, take a bit of time researching and analyzing (moreso for the first one), but you do learn quite a bit from them. Aside from that, the entire class is case studies which you go into great detail discussing in class, and she definitely makes you think and she challenges you to do so. There are two exams based on the lessons of the case studies supplemented with the text readings. The exams are probably some of the toughest I've taken at Poly, however she doesn't rip you to shreds when she grades them, she simply wants to know what you've learned. There's probably less than 5 classes at Poly which I felt were actually worth my time and money, and Colette's 407 easily tops that list. I wish I was able to commit more time and effort to this class, as I could have gained even more from it. But I'll be taking one of her classes again, and know I'll put maximum effort and receive maximum benefit from the class and from her. She is the best professor at Poly, and that is not an exaggeration.
