Daubert, Sara  

Sara is awesome. I had a 7AM public speaking class with her so naturally I went in with a bad attitude but she actually makes public speaking fun and interesting. She lets you choose your own topics so writing and practicing your speeches is fun! She is a very hard grader, especially on the first speech, but the amount of improvement you will see is unbelievable. I failed my first speech and don't do very well on the quizzes but I ended with a high B. The quizzes are tough so make sure you actually read but they are only once every few weeks (announced). Sara is incredibly sweet and she always lets us out early. Definitely take her if you want to learn and have a fun time but DON'T take her if you plan to skip class ever.

If you aren't already an excellent public speaker, don't take Daubert. She will focus on every slight mistake you make in a speech and take off points across every grading category for it.

Wrote a detailed paragraph about how and why Daubert is an awful professor, but when I went to submit the review, my wifi went out and didn't save it. Don't feel like writing another, so here's a quick summary: DON'T TAKE DAUBERT.

Dr. Daubert comes off as a hard and very strict professor, but she is actually a very nice and pleasant person to talk to. I enjoyed taking her class even though it was at 7 in the morning for two hours, twice a week. It might have helped that she let us out early every day. She can be a hard grader, but if you go to her for help and explanation after your first speech, you will do much better on your second speech! There wasn't a whole lot of total points in the class, so make sure to do well on what assignments you have/actually write your speeches in advance.

I was very nervous to take Daubert's class after reading the ratings. I ended up in this one after my initial choice was filled. Overall, it is not a bad class. Although I don't think this class is at all an easy A, you can definitely pull through with a B if you work hard from the beginning. I enjoyed her class because she likes to cut a lot of bullshit I've heard other COMS classes have to suffer through, such as demonstration speeches. There are no midterms or finals, but there are quizzes. They are mostly multiple choice, T/F, and fill in the blank. If you simply skimmed the chapters you would probably be able to pull of at least a B on the quizzes. She doesn't seem to care much for them and only gives them out out of necessity to course requirements. She can come off as intimidating and cut throat. Actually yeah she kind of is but I strongly advise you to take advantage of her office hours from the very first speech. She will definitely come off as much more understanding if you go and talk to her and let her know that you are aware of your own mistakes in speechmaking. Self-awareness is key. If she knows you're self-aware then she'll be more understanding that you're trying to work on it. I wish I had taken advantage of this more. Also, GO TO HER TO CHECK YOUR OUTLINE FOR YOUR INFORMATIVE AND PERSUASIVE SPEECHES! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. She killed over half the class on their outlines because of guidelines she never said in class but insisted she did. All in all, if you're a ditz and very very very awkward when public speaking, I do not recommend this class because you'll probably piss her off and she won't want to deal with it. She will take more and more points each time if you make the same mistake like talking quietly or not making eye-contact. If you are a decent speaker and are somewhat capable of getting over shyness and/or can fake your confidence you will probably do just fine.

OK, so originally I thought Sara was pretty cool, but idk man she's starting kinda a bitch????????? She's like nice-ish one minute and bitch the next AND KEEPS SAYING SHE SAID/DID SOMETHING THAT I SWEARRRRR TO JESUS SHE NEVER ACTUALLY DID??? And then you go to her for help and she does want to help you??? whatttt????

Sara knows what she's talking about and is a great teacher, but her class isn't all that easy. Your grade is 2 major speeches, two minor speeches, 4 quizzes, and 2 assignments. She has very specific requirements with the speeches that can make it kind of hard so definitely start early. For both speeches I wrote and memorized them like two or three days before giving it which I wouldn't recommend if you want an A in the class. Get the book and read it for sure. Don't skip class, I skipped once and it screwed me over. She also lets class out about an hour early every day except speech days which is awesome. Overall I would recommend Sara and enjoyed her class but be ready to put in work!

She is a great professor and I'm so glad I'm dating her daughter!

Daubert comes off as strict and intimidating but she knows what she wants and what she expects of you, and she communicates that very well to her students. Her outlines are straightforward, and her quizzes are easy. Just don't push your speeches to the last minute. She is full of fun stories and she brought her dog to class, so like, big plus right there. She's a tough grader, but again, she's very direct with what she expects. Definitely recommend.

I literally hated Sara. She yelled at me twice, once for accidentally knocking over my water bottle and the other for typing too loud because "that clicking drives her crazy". She seems like she could be a nice woman but is extremely specific in the requirements for each speech making them overwhelming and difficult. I didn't feel prepared at all going into the second speech because all we did in class was repeat after her for 2 hours. She let us out early on the rare occasion but only by maybe 10 minutes. Her grading is extremely strict and nearly everything is a "point deduction". You'll know wether or not she likes you by how she talks to you. Every time I asked a legitimate question she would stare at me as if I was stupid and barely even answered what I was asking. The class is based off of 2 major speeches so if you dont already know what you're doing, then do not take her. Fuck that class and fuck Sara, crazy goat lady who commutes from Colorado each week.

Sara is a really cool teacher. She's totally down to earth and easy to talk to. She likes animals and it's fun to listen to her stories, which make her even more approachable. The homework load in the class is minimal. She's not bitchy about speeches like some other teachers are. I personally think she grades rather easily. There are only a couple of quizzes, which she takes word for word out of the book and they are true/false...how much easier does it get? There is NO FINAL EXAM. We only had a persuasive speech, an informative speech, and a 2 minute tribute speech. Definitely not a big load to carry. She recognizes that the class is taken as a GE and that people don't want to be there, therefore she makes the class as easy as she can. The only drawback is that if you miss a speech, she is merciless: she will not pass you. The only real solution to that is BE THERE THE DAY OF YOUR SPEECH. I highly recommend Dr. Daubert and if you can get her, then do.

Great teacher! She cut all the excess, pointless stuff out of the class. There were a few, easy, quizzes and then we did 3 speeches. That's about it. THere is NO final, only a 2 minute tribute speech that is super easy and fun- you can do any subject you want, from tribute to your family to a banana. Fun class, she makes everything very straightforward and made us do soo much less work than other coms 101 classes had to do. She's down to earth and has a great sense of humor and makes class fun and interesting. BUT, like the person below me said- she is merciless when it comes to speeches. You MUST be there, on time, to your speech or you will fail the class. Oh, and she is big on attendance. Not a class you can just skip or she'll lower your grade

Shes pretty big in the business dept or something and she knows this is a GE. Pretty much she has you read the book, which i didnt really do, then she goes over it in class. Then she throws in her personal insight, she is like a pro speech grader. JUST BECAUSE THERE IS NO FINAL EXAM DOESN'T MEAN SHE WONT DO SOMETHING DURING THE FINAL TIME.

She is definitely hardcore liberal and wouldn\'t let me do a paper on how rodeo IS NOT animal cruelty because it is against her personal beliefs. She is the kind of teacher that picks favorites and unless your a good-looking guy, you will not be a favorite. I think she is the kind of teacher who thinks of the girls in her class as competition, not students. Although I did get an A, I would not recommend her. O and the book is expensive and we got quizzed every week which is ridiculous because it was a public SPEAKING class not a reading comprehension class

She is a good teacher but she is very negative. She tells you exactly what she doesn\'t want you to do on your speeches and how you can get points marked off, but never what you can do to give a successful speech. She is a very serious person and pretty strict. Her class wasn\'t that difficult though, as long as you practice your speech beforehand, you should be fine. Overall, it wasn\'t an easy class but she helped a lot with getting everyone comfortable with public speaking and how to give a strong speech.

This teacher comes off kinda (Female dog) like at first. she seems very serious and really hard at first. But you find out that she is actually really nice and cares about your progress. To get an A in the class, you need to have an above excellent outline and speech. But its really easy to get at least a high C on your speeches. Like, I finished all my speeches usually like an hour before the class cause i suck at writing the speeches and memorized it in 45 minutes and managed to get a B. There are like 3 quizes that are not a big deal at all. No midterm or final. The outlines seem intimidating but are actually pretty easy. Overall, take this teacher. She really is the best you will find.

As long as you attend the classes and follow her instructions, you will receive an A.

Professor Daubert is not a nice lady. The class I was enrolled in was very easy to pass in theory however she made it significantly more difficult. She is unforgiving of mistakes and tardiness. She is also extremely liberal and likes to make jokes at the expense of her more conservative students. Pray that you were paying attention for the whole class as she only assigns things verbally most of the time and if you were not listening or in the bathroom, you should talk to another student before her as they will ultimately be more helpful.

Do not take a class with Professor Daubert. In my class, if you missed a single assignment, you automatically fail the class. This would not be hard except that she doesn't post grades anywhere and she also doesn't post assignments anywhere. Her classes are less about work and more about never making a mistake. If you feel confident that you won't miss a thing, then this will be a safe professor. Another thing that is sub par about this professor is that she is incredibly passive aggressive and it is clear she has no respect for any student that cannot keep up with her curriculum. Overall, there is no worse professor on campus and Professor Daubert should not be employed.

She does not seem invested in the class or her students. She seems more interested in talking about herself and making sure she gets to fly home to colorado on the weekends. It is also ironic that her focus is on leadership and ethics and she illegally uses a disabled parking permit, so that she can get a convenient parking spot in front of the school.

The class itself is extremely helpful in developing your skills for the business world. But Sara is a different story. All she does is pass out packets and talk about what they mean. Sara is not at all willing to give help outside of class and doesn\'t seem to care about the welfare of her students at all. But dealing with her is worth it for taking the class.

Sara lives for the success of her students. She dreams about us, hopes that we\'ll do well in our lives. She doesn\'t necessarily teach; she gives us current information from the news, opens up a discussion, and forces us to analyze the situation from all angles. It\'s a way to get you to build up your thinking skills, to be impressive to future employers, and to ultimately get your dream job. She is a great networking source and the class is an eye-opening experience. I didn\'t know that there was so much to learn about myself: my personality, my leadership styles, and many more things!

Sara is an excellent teacher who truly cares about all of her students! I loved having her for the 3 quarter class. She constantly tries to think of help you try to learn about yourself and how you can succeed as a business professional. She is a very busy professor, but wants to help you succeed in anyway that you can.

Professor Daubert is an exceptional teacher. She teaches you skills you will never learn in class. She is also very very nice and truely wants to help students. In addition, she is pretty hot :).

If you’re in OCOB, I highly recommend applying for the Leadership Workshop with Sara. She especially designed this 5 quarter program to help you learn about how you work as an individual and challenge yourself to be a better leader. There are no homework assignments. You take a lot of self-assessment tests and do interesting activities. Take this with Sara!

Do not take this class. Leadership is not meant to be taught using a book or curriculum. This has no affiliation with The Leadership Summit taught the last couple years by Dr. Beaman and will be nothing like it. This class breeds followers, you will highly regret taking this class.

Honestly, TAKE THIS CLASS. If you are second guessing it because you don't want to take an elective and get your course work done, STILL TAKE IT!!! I really did not want to take this class at first because it was an elective AND it was from 8 to 10 at night. However once I got into the class i realized there was no way in hell i was dropping the course. First of all, Sara is the shit. She is one of the coolest teachers Ive had at Cal Poly and I really like what I have learned in the course. It is about the easiest A i have ever received. No tests or quizzes or finals, easiest class ever, and you actually learn a shit ton as well because Sara is the bomb. I have learned so much about things I would never learn about in any other business class here at Cal Poly Take the class! you won't regret it

She's one of the best professor I've ever had at Cal Poly. This is one of the only class I'm looking forward to have because everything she teaches is straightforward, like literally straightforward! I try to grasp everything she said and I feel like I'm actually learning something from this workshop unlike my other classes. This class teaches you leadership, self-development and business etiquette and they are all important as an individual. One thing we should have is more class activity instead of handouts.

Thinking of taking this class? TAKE IT! You won't regret it. Sara Daubert is quite possibly one of the coolest professors at Cal Poly. Even though the time sucks (8-10 pm), it is completely worth it. This class would provide the perfect ending to my day. Its a really easy A, but the skills that you learn from the class are so much more beneficial than the grade boost. The class helps boost your professional development, leadership skills and confidence, and you end up walking out of the class a better person. Even though its only an elective, it is quite frankly one of the most beneficial classes at Cal Poly, and Sara Daubert is the perfect teacher for this class.

I took HNRS leadership with Daubert and her class was really easy and very helpful too. She taught us how to write a resume, cover letter, Linkedin, and we took a few personality tests which was interesting. She was a nice lady too. I enjoyed my time in this class and everyone got an A. Go ahead and take it! :)

I learned that if I were to take up hunting, I should shoot deer, not bears, because a bear will hunt me back if I successfully wound it. Fascinating! I didnt know that the key to production and operations management was so brutally simple!

Although I pulled off an A in this class, I was thoroughly disappointed with Daubert. She's an extremely smart and successful woman, but it was obvious she wanted to be there less than the students. The class itself it pretty straight forward- two midterms, two journals, quarter long group project, and a take home final journal. If you don't mind sitting in a class while she reads directly off the powerpoint, then take her, but if you hope to actually gain some substance, don't. She takes attendance every day, but I have never had a professor waste my time as much as Daubert did.

I have never written a review for a professor before and I probably never will again but I feel like it was necessary for this class. I was tricked by OCOB and polyratings into thinking taking Sara's class was a good idea. I am ashamed that there are so many good ratings for this professor. I received an A in the class and I'm actually one of the students she likes alot, she is an awesome person but her classes are a complete waste of time. I have learned nothing in either her 271 Leadership Class or her 387 Organizational Behavior that I am currently in (there was nothing else available). If you are an HR concentration I would be wary of taking her 387 because I've learned absolutely nothing. In short, if you don't want to learn and spend your precious time in college on useless mandatory class take 271. If you want to get your prereq's out of the way take 387.

Although Daubert is a successful individual, I felt like she does not put enough effort to teach her students. This class can be a complete waste of time because of that. Yes, it is "easy" because the class has only quizzes, a group project, and some journal entries. Other than that, I wish there was more.

Learned absolutely nothing. Mandatory attendance, keeps telling us we need to do X so we "look like we're doing something" and always talks about being fired. Waste of money for cal poly, easy money for her.

Contrary to the past evals, I have enjoyed this class and what it has to offer. Having prior intern experience in HR, I agree this isn't the best class to take if you are trying to expand your knowledge. I still have loved to get to know Daubert nonetheless and offers FANTASTIC career advice. Although I didn't learn much to apply to my job, I have gained intangible experience from her. Overall, you should take a class from Daubert before entering the workforce.

Professor Daubert seemed to have very little regard for this class. It seemed as though her priorities were focused elsewhere and there was obvius favoritism towards the students who were also in her leadership class. Professor Daubert's teaching style was also inconsistent with her demeanor. I think she wanted to come off more harsh and firm on certain parts of the material, criticizing us if performance was low or the class energy was low, however often canceled readings and assignments all together or refrained from coming to class a few days. She also prefaced the class saying 80% of students will receive A's, which automatically lowered motivation and expectations for everyone in the class. I feel as though she didn't even read some of the written work submitted, as most papers would be returned with no comments but just a 100% score. Considering this was a major course, it is no where up to par with other classes that are considerably more challenging and meaningful. The fact that I got an A is nice, however it was in no way earned.

I have taken this professor for two classes now (Bus 387 & Bus 270 which isn't offered anymore). She really wants her students to succeed and offers every tool for them to be able to. She is easy to talk to and approachable. The workload is not overly stressful as long as you stay on top of the reading and the paper she assigns at the beginning of the quarter which isn't bad if you don't wait till the last minute. Work hard and do the reading and an A is definitely possible.

I'm just going to put it out here and say that I honestly feel like she was the worst professor I ever had out of all the professors I've had so far at Cal Poly. Very unclear with the grading, and for most of the lectures she would breeze through them and just say "ok read here for the quiz material" or hell, at times had us use class time to fill out worksheets. Like what? Why are we paying so much money to spend class time reading the book filling out a worksheet when we could have just done that at home? Taking this class is seriously so boring because she comes to class pretty unprepared all the time. It almost seems like she's too busy with other stuff to actually make the class interesting. Oh and don't even get started on the number of times she'll drop the "yeah I get paid so much money to administer these personality tests, and you get them for FREE"! OK....like seriously who the hell cares. If you want to take a class where you just listen to her talk about her achievements and whatever for hours then by all means, take the class. If you actually want to get something out of your education (that you're paying money to get), you might want to look at another teacher. I'm sure she's a great person to talk outside of class, but I wouldn't suggest taking her.

I took 387 with Daubert fall quarter. I almost completely agree with the 387 review below. I was greatly disappointed by Daubert and her class. She is the worst professor I have come across so far at Poly. Daubert gave little direction for our group papers never even handing out a rubric, and then graded them harshly with a b- average. I was surprised to learn Daubert is a Coms professor considering most of her lectures consisted of her sitting at her desk reading off wordy powerpoints she didn't even make. I'd be surprised if there are any OCOB professors that put less effort into their classes than Daubert. Save your time and money and look elsewhere for a 387 professor.

Not a good professor. I would recommend finding someone else to take 387 with if possible.

Class is a waste of time- its either filling out personality tests and other handouts, or her reading from a powerpoint. It has the potential to be an interesting class but it isn't most of the time. Her quizzes are hard- usually 15 T/F and 3-4 short answers. The T/F are literally sentences from the book and she changes ONE word so they are hard. She is a tough grader on the assignments. I bet at least 25% of my section is getting a C bc she gave them a 0 on an assignment bc shes a bitch. Some advice: read the syllabus before submitting and assignment bc if you mess up one thing you get a 0. Also attendance is very important: you lose about 3% of your grade for every class you miss. About 45% of your grade is a research paper. She acted like she was going to grade it harshly but everyone in my class got at least a B on it so idk. TL/DR take a different prof if you can. I some how managed to get an A but I doubt many people can say that

Regardless of Professor Daubert's many accomplishments and knowledge of business, this class was not educational or practical. She speeds through slides very quickly touching on small parts of the chapter here and there. She seems to be in a rush every class and would rather have us learn the material on our own. Twice during the quarter she has waited to assign homework until the night before; conveniently forgetting to assign it over the weekend. Some of us have jobs you know. Her directions are EXTREMELY unclear which is ironic coming from a professor of Organizational Behavior. No where on the syllabus does it say to cite the book for group projects yet she deducts points for it. She doesn't utter a word about homework assignments so pay attention to the due dates on the syllabus. Even after receiving many emails from students regarding a homework assignment she blamed it on no one listening to her in class. If so many students were sending her emails why didn't she clarify the assignment instructions in an email? That seems like a quick way to effectively communicate how she wants it completed. In the end, I would chose a different teacher.

Awful teacher. She gives good career advice, but can't do anything else. Her lectures are basically her just reading off the slides or the book. Her assignments are very unclear and she grades you extremely harshly. Quizzes are easy, just study a few hours before it. But try to take someone else.

Although Professor Daubert isn't the greatest professor to walk through the halls of OCOB, her class is very EASY!!!! Some of the material is very interesting (not sure how it is always related to business but interesting non the less). If you are looking for an easy A, then this is the class for you. If you hope to actually learn something, maybe not the best class. There are 3 "quizes" throughout the quarter, 3-4 group assignments, and 2-3 individual assignments, and one group project. The quizes are called quizes because of their length but cover material from 3ish chapters, so maybe more like a midterm? The individual assignments and group assignments should be a guaranteed 100% as long as you make sure to reference the book (correctly) about every other sentence. The big project at the end of the quarter is slightly more difficult and she grades your group paper a little more strictly, but the presentation portion isn't that bad. The one big ISSUE in this class is that she has one office hour a week and is willing to work with students very little. Not sure why she is a professor then. Also she plays favorites so answer questions in class. Ask her questions about what she does for a living or about her dogs.

Daubert tries to make the class interesting, which I appreciated. It can be an interesting course for you if you like psychology. She provides a lot of in-class activities and involved discussion to get people a little bit more excited about the material. She tells you exactly what to highlight to know for the quizzes, which is great, but she tells you "You need to know this" so often that it feels like you have the entire chapter highlighted anyways. the book is cheap if you find it on the Cal Poly buy/sell Facebook page. YOU HAVE TO READ THOROUGHLY TO DO WELL unless you have someone in a previous class tell you what's on the quiz. However, one of the guys in my team did this and she ended up giving an entirely different quiz than the other class, so don't rely on that. Quizzes are mostly T/F with 3-5 long-answer questions (greater than one sentence but not an essay). There is no final exam. She did give us the option to take a quiz on the second to last class that would replace one of our previous quizzes if we did better. Know that you will also be working on your final paper at this time, so it might not be worth it to try studying for a quiz and just focus on the paper. She's very particular about the way she wants papers and assignments done. If you or someone else in your team knows someone who already took the class, try to get their old assignments because it will help guide the direction of your own. She grades more and more harshly as the quarter goes on, so stay on top of it. Use her office hours. Our team never did so we kept getting the same grades on our papers.

This was one of few classes I genuinely enjoyed going to. I fucking loved Daubert; she's lowkey a savage sometimes. Careful with how you answer questions because she has absolutely no problem telling you you're flat out wrong, and you'll feel kinda dumb. That being said, I thought this class was an extremely reasonable B. I pulled a B+ putting a decent amount of work in. No final exam, so that was nice. Quarter long group work along with a final presentation. MAKE SURE TO READ THE SYLLABUS VERY CAREFULLY. As long as you turn in work exactly how Daubert wants it, you'll be fine. PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL. Make sure to have things typed, times new roman, double spaced, all your names, page numbers, "BUS 387" along with your day and time of class, and your group logo on everything (excluding team logo on your individual assignments). She grades harshly at times, but others will give you a straight 100%. Grading is pretty subjective and you sort of have to figure out how the class works on your own. This class is good for people who are easily adaptable, patient, and prefer open-ended work. You'll learn a lot about how people think, what makes them tick, and what motivates them, as well as a lot about yourself and your group. Felt like a psychology class a bit. Overall liked this class and Daubert a lot. Would recommend.

She's ok. Straightforward personality, no games, no messing around. Quizzes are tough. Based on reading 40 page chapters every week. Book is a "meta" analysis of organization behavior which means it's a study of many other studies. I have real world experience and access to people in industry that can provide input about today's business environment and practices but was told not to use them. Instead, rely almost exclusively on the text book. So: theory and conjecture > real world. Got it. Dumb! Lots of team based work. You will be forced to deal with differing personalities; some real a55holes too. This class had some crossover from psychology. You learn a little bit about your personality, communication style, and how to deal with others in the workplace. She had only one office hour per week. She's an ok lady tho. Easy class if you keep up with the reading and your brain really absorbs the book's concepts. 2 presentations, a few quizzes, a few assignments (only known to you if you read the syllabus regularly, so read it!), the big paper and presentation at the end. No final. Lectures are just her reading off the powerpoints.

I also was tricked into taking Sara Daubert because of Polyratings. I don't say these things lightly because I generally don't care too much about professor's inability to teach well but Sara Daubert is one of the worst things I've encountered at cal poly. Her class lectures are not only painfully dry, but she also doesn't really understand what's going on in the class. She's also extremely condescending and speaks to the students like we're incompetent when in reality, no one cares/knows what she's asking us to do. Her teaching style is on the watching-paint-dry side; She literally will just sit in her chair for the entire class time and just talk about what's on the slides. Which is often not whats on the quizzes! This brings me to my next point: The quizzes (36% of total grade) Sara's quizzes are so ridiculously hard it's almost funny. We have quizzes on 3 to 4 chapters at a time. Sara then will pick a completely random topic from some of those chapters and include it on the quiz. She also does this amazing thing where she will find a quote and change 1 word in it, then ask if it's true or false. Great! Learning so much fun over here. PS the chapters are about 35 pages long each, 11 point font, no graphs or diagrams, just pure text. Exciting. Next, team assignments (42% of total grade). Sara likes to do this thing were our group is assigned to respond to a case study at the end of a reading chapter. The case study questions are pretty easy.. too easy, actually. Because Sara expects you to write 6-8 pages on these extremely simple questions that were clearly meant to be answered in a sentence or two. And then even if you do all this extra work; writing about random things in the chapter to prove you read it (which I'm pretty sure is what she wanted us to do), she then goes and takes off points for format! I probably had a total of 15 points taken off for format (which is a lot because the whole class is worth only 250) in the entire grade because Sara wants a different format for team assignments or individual assignments. Oh, you forgot to include a page number even though it is a single page assignment? Point off! Lastly, I had strep throat once and sara made such an ordeal about proving I was dying in bed. I sent her my excuse TWICE (both times she never responded to my email lol)..so hopefully she actually read it because every class period you miss is 3% off your final grade! Because you know, we aren'y college students right? We still need to be treated like children woo! Reflecting on the quarter, Sara is a 0/10 recommendation. However if you have her, be nice to her because I think she has a rough personal life. p.s. Individual assignments are worth 22%

Sara is really a friendly and a caring professor. She summarizes the most important key points from each chapter very well. She is also hilarious. However, she sometimes act aggressively and fast giving no enough time to do the personality tests and stuff like that properly. Overall, fantastic instructor and one of my best. She has no midterms and final, she has 4 quizzes instead and 1 paper by your self and 2 with the team + final team paper and presentation. The book is a must to pass the class. Also, make sure to not miss her classes as she will take off points from you, at least communicate with her if you have to. I heard her saying that she will change and upgrade everything starting from SP 2018 including the book. Good luck!

This professor, while has much life lessons to give, her quizzes are ridiculous hard. If you have photographic memory, then you will do fine. Otherwise, skip this teacher as all the other teachers for this class are much easier and actually make their quizzes somewhat doable. For her, the correlation between studying and your grade for the quizzes does not exist. It doesn't matter how much you study, you gamble every time you take the quiz.

Daubert is a pretty hit or miss person. If she likes you and you participate in the class then you are going to have an amazing quarter, but the opposite is also true. She is a extremely hard grader, and the quizzes are on very random things. But overly recommend, my class was never boring but not an easy A.

This teacher is crazy enough to fly from Colorado to Cal poly every single week. She enjoys her job and she knows what she is talking about but makes the class way too hard. You are required to participate for points. She is judgmental and intimidating. Her quizzes are way too specific for the amount of material that is required for reading and overall is way harder of a professor than the other professors. We learned on week 7 that u are supposed to have your book on the table every class or she is taking off participation points each day. Compared to other 387 classes, this is a million times harder than the other ones who are building legos and solving puzzles (also group midterm)

She is a great teacher who gives clear instructions. I wouldn't listen to the polyraintgs above. The people who don't like her just don't do well in her class and don't read. she tells you exactly what to read and is able to help if you need it. She has higher expectations but the class is not that much work. there are a few quizzes on exactly what she tells you before and there is NO FINAL. the Midterm is easy enough if you do the reading. the book is super easy to understand and she lectures on exactly what is on the quizzes and midterm. She is a mom who loves her dogs and loves her job enough to commute back from Colorado every week. she is straight to the point and NO BUSY WORK. there are a couple short written assignments that are so easy to understand and one group paper at the end that isn't too bad at all. 10/10 recommend her class.

She is one of the coolest people I have ever met. She is personable and is straight to the point. Her classes are interesting and you get out of class early most of the time. Her class Is not that hard. Overall. this is a good class to take

She is a pretty cool teacher if you can get her. There is no busy work and her lectures aren't bad. You get out of class early a lot, which is nice. She has a decent amount of group work and there are quizzes that are specific but definitely doable if you do the reading. She tells you when everything is due and helps during office hours or before and after class. r

Daubert is a gangster. I honestly respect this woman so much. She has been around Cal Poly too long to justify wasting time on any student that is there to do the bare minimum. If you fuck with her, you will be demolished. It seems like she deals with a parade of dumbasses walking through her class ever year. Even though she seems jaded to them to a point, she really knows how it is and isn't under the impression that she has anything to prove to students. That being said, her teaching style is old-school. No extra credit, no pop quizzes (even though she said she might give them on her syllabus), and no slack. She tells you exactly how to perform in the class and expects you to do so. If you do exactly what she says, you will get an A. You MUST read EVERYTHING she assigns to get a good grade in this class. Don't act like a dumbass in class. Take in interest in her life; this is an essay-heavy course and every essay grade is subjective to a point based on how she feels about you. This holds true for every other essay-based class at Cal Poly and for performance reviews throughout the rest of your life. I don't agree with some of the other posters here, I found a lot of the stuff we went over in class immensely interesting and helpful for my life. The Positive Psychology unit and the MBTI Personality Tests were highlights and ended up being topics of my conversations for weeks afterwards. It is a good idea to get on her good side and make a connection with her; she is one of the most powerful and tenured professors at Cal Poly and can pull strings for you (as she did for me) to help you get very hard things accomplished.

Sara is a homie. She is smart and takes no BS. Class is straight forward and no Final, no pop quizzes. One midterm and a few assignments and a paper. Her lectures are actually interesting and get out early sometimes.

Lol terrible. Becomes irritated when someone asks anything that she feels has been stated in the past. Feel free to take if you're okay with putting in a decent amount of work for a B. Wants people to participate but she can be incredibly dis-encouraging by the way she responds to your answers. Word of advice, read the syllabus. Actually don't just read it. Memorize it. I've learned a decent amount from this class, but somewhere along the line you will get irritated with her and vice versa. Favorite part of class was when she brought her dog Pismo

It is currently week 7 and I fully regret taking Daubert for 387. I had several people who had her for leadership recommend her. I am thoroughly disappointed. I am working my butt off and barely passing. This is the most ridiculous class I have ever taken. You will learn nothing, her expectations are never given, and good luck getting a decent grade on quizzes. I have no idea how she has so many positive reviews. My team failed the first assignment (a few questions on the reading from the textbook) because we did not cite our resources... the textbook. If you ask for clarification, she will treat you like a child. If you ask questions/challenge what she is saying, she will basically just tell you to shut up. Daubert treats this like a psychology class, which it is not. I have learned so many pointless things about psych. Her quizzes are easy... if you have a PHOTOGRAPHIC MEMORY!! I went to her office hours to ask for help and her advice was just to read. I have done all the readings and taken extensive notes, yet I cannot get better than a 75%. I work 16 hours a week, and she is expecting me to read 3 chapters (40+ pages each) over and over again??? Daubert is not even excited about her job. She sits in a chair the entire lecture and reads straight off her slides. She acts as if she walks on water. Moral of the story: Take anyone else. Run for your life. If Daubert is your only option for 387, put it off for another quarter. It is not worth it. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Terrible teacher. Terrible terrible terrible. Quizzes ridiculously specific and answers to questions were technically correct to more than one question usually on a quiz and you had to do a process of elimination for the answer she was looking for. Unnecessarily difficult grader and constantly critiqued us but didn't give us any instruction or feedback on how to fix the problem. However, I will say she was pretty funny which kept class entertaining. Throughout the course however I just felt like the material was so easy but she managed to make it difficult for anyone to do well even if you understood the content. Definitely do not take this class with Daubert!!

This lady flies over from colorado every week to sit on her high horse and read off a screen to students. The material is super basic, its almost sad we have to be quizzed on it yet she makes it so damn impossible. She makes us print long ass chapters out every class but her polylearn is a mess so it's hard to tell when to print what. She is super rude and never helpful when answering questions. She seems like someone who would be qualified for teaching a class like this but has obviously gotten bitter and lazy. She takes paragraphs straight from the reading and puts them on the slides, then moves through them too fast but refuses to post them so you never know what to study. Her quizzes are the main part of your grade but they are next to impossible if you can't MEMORIZE EVERY READING. I'll probably get a C even though I learned the definitions of culture, teamwork and leadership in like 2nd grade. disappointed by this class. AVOID.

Do you want to spend your money listening to a teacher that is lazier than her students? Then look no further. Just an overall dreadful experience. She should not be teaching at CalPoly.

One of the worst professors I have ever had. She gives in-class lectures relating to the material with an extremely difficult quiz each week. This class is fine if you like an aggressive teacher who will make you work your ass off for a B but for this class its very unnecessary.

Daubert has the personality type BITCH

This was one of few classes I genuinely enjoyed going to. I fucking loved Daubert; she's lowkey a savage sometimes. Careful with how you answer questions because she has absolutely no problem telling you you're flat out wrong, and you'll feel kinda dumb. That being said, I thought this class was an extremely reasonable B. I pulled a B+ putting a decent amount of work in. No final exam, so that was nice. Quarter long group work along with a final presentation. MAKE SURE TO READ THE SYLLABUS VERY CAREFULLY. As long as you turn in work exactly how Daubert wants it, you'll be fine. PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL. Make sure to have things typed, times new roman, double spaced, all your names, page numbers, "BUS 387" along with your day and time of class, and your group logo on everything (excluding team logo on your individual assignments). She grades harshly at times, but others will give you a straight 100%. Grading is pretty subjective and you sort of have to figure out how the class works on your own. This class is good for people who are easily adaptable, patient, and prefer open-ended work. You'll learn a lot about how people think, what makes them tick, and what motivates them, as well as a lot about yourself and your group. Felt like a psychology class a bit. Overall liked this class and Daubert a lot. Would recommend.
