material was clear, Professor Dang is very clear with lectures and instructions.

Accounting is supposedly the language of business. Imagine learning spanish from someone who barely speaks english, it just doesn't make sense. One of the nicest teachers I've had though.

Everyone hates on her because English isn't her native language. But seriously, despite that she is really good. You WILL be able to understand everything she says. Her class, while she presents everything pretty well, is still hard though. She really really tries to help you. Feel free to email her about any homework question, and go to her office hours. She also sometimes hosts help sessions on Sunday for her students in accounting. Disregard her accent, and you'll like her as a teacher. She is really nice and truly epically wants to see you succeed.

So first the class percentages go like this: Quizes - 10% Homework - 10% Midterm 1 - 20 Midterm 2- 25% Final - 35% This class is supposed to be one of the hardest, if not the hardest business class. It was extremely hard for me, but I went to office hours and the study groups she offered. When I was frusterated, she was more than encouraging and really helped me out through the quarter. Very sweet lady, and very kind that she takes the time for her students. Very fast at responding to email. Highly recommend Prof. Dang she is one of the overall nicest teachers I have had at Cal Poly. Truly wants her students to suceed

I was nervous about taking Dang after reading some of the reviews on here, however, I was very surprised. Dr Dang is probably the best teacher I've had at poly. She explains everything extremely well, and will repeat concepts over and over again until everyone in class understands them. Her tests are based more on the theoretical stuff (definitions, etc), but they are all multiple choice. Her quizzes are also all multiple choice, and are done at the end of class, after she has spent an hour and a half explaining everything that will be on the quiz. I would highly recommend Dr. Dang to anyone. If you attend class, do the online homework, and skim the chapters, you will get an A or a B easily.

Li Dang is really really nice. Her classes consist of powerpoints and examples on the board. She also gives you a note packet to follow along with which is very helpful. She does have a very slight accent, but it is hardly noticeable, and not a big deal. The class is difficult, but she drops your 2 lowest quizzes, and takes best 2 of 3 for the 2 midterms and final. She has lots of office hours and is always willing to help.

I took this class winter quarter and I'm so happy I had Dang. She is such a great professor and she really wants her students to succeed. She goes over the material a lot to make sure you understand it and she gives you study guides that you fill out in class. They are super helpful. Her class is also pretty easy. There's online homework, 6 quizzes (2 are dropped), 2 midterms, and an optional final. If you take the final it automatically drops the lowest exam score. Dang is an extremely nice person and is always willing to help her students. She is probably my favorite professor so far. Take her class!

Dang is an awesome teacher and really wants you to do well. Her lectures are excellent and is really straightforward. She gives you two midterms and a final but drops the lowest midterm. It's really great but also makes your midterm and final worth about 40% each so it's a lot of pressure if you end up deciding to take the final. Overall I highly recommend her!

Well first of all she is not very easy to understand as she has a pretty thick accent and a lisp. Aside from that she really does not teach you a lot in class, I have taken other accounting professors that have really taken the time in class to teach the matierial and go over problems, Dang just stands up there and reads off her slides that really do not explain much and are very vague. I really had to teach myself most everything in this class even though I went to every class period and I know a lot of other people in the class that had to do the same. If you are good at teaching yourself subjects than she is okay but as far as actually teaching goes she doesn't know the first thing other than being able to read off some slides that are just excerpts from the book.

If you're into foreign teachers that are hard to understand, be my guest and take this class.

Dang, she's a great professor! But jokes aside, Dang is the best professor for managerial accounting. Her lectures slides and course packet make it very clear what is necessary to succeed. She has lots of practice quizzes, practice tests, and homeworks with unlimited attempts so there is really no excuse not to get an A every test. The people who didn't were the ones that didn't put in the time to study outside of class. This is college, and lectures only go so far. Dang does have a Chinese accent, but I did not find it difficult to understand her at all. Having read the chapter before having the lecture on it helps immensely with this, as you are already familiar with the vocabulary terms and then the lecture just helps you understand how it all connects. Our class scored really low on the last midterm/final and Dang curved it by 7.5%, pretty great! I enjoyed her class, and will miss having such a straightforward accounting class.

She is dry and boring as hell. Her tests are stupid and full of trick questions, and she intentionally gives you false information about what's on tests. Just don't take her. You'll thank me later. These people rating her high on here are either fake reviews or brainwashed suckups.

I put a LOT of effort into this class. Accounting is certainly not my forte but with a solid A in financial accounting I thought I would be fine. Dang's lectures were not effective for me, nor was the reading. I did most of my learning by practicing homework problems again and again and again. If you figure out how to "take her tests" you might have a shot at an A. Learn the practice tests inside and out. She also designed her tests to be far too long, a handful of students left at least 5-10 questions blank on every test due to lack of time. I wouldn't recommend Dang unless you like an extremely structured, cut and dry class.

Professor Dang presents the material clearly than other professors I've had in the past. Sure, this class is a bit tougher than BUS 214, but overall she gives us enough resources to prepare for quizzes/tests (with practice exams/quizzes). There is online homework as well. If you need help, she is willing to help you out.

I do not usually take the time and go out of my way to write a poor review for a teacher. I have written several reviews on poly learn, all positive, but Li Dang has in my opinion failed as an instructor this quarter. I would first like to recognize that she is obviously a very well educated business teacher as she has acquired her Doctorate, unfortunately I feel as though she lacks the necessary skills of a educator. 1) Please do note make the same mistake I did and take this class!!!! 2) She gives you 2 hours (even for the final) to take a test that would take an accounting major on average 2 hours to finish, if they work fast.....many of us are not business majors. 3) The homework is VERY time consuming and often fails to prepare you for a majority of the test 4) She reads the slides that she posts on line and that is about all you will get from attending her class, she occasionally will clarify a difficult concept but this is rare 5) She doesn't teach you, you have to teach yourself 6) I wouldn't mention this unless I believed it to impede my learning ability, but she has a very thick accent (this is obviously not her fault, just something to consider when enrolling) 7) Good luck

Dr. Dang is a super sweet lady who genuinely cares about her student's success. She is accommodating and gives you supplemental packets to follow along with the lecture. She is also VERY helpful in office hours. It is a tough class but she explains things clearly and is clearly very well educated and knowledgable in the subject. I would recommend her!

This class is hard! Despite the teacher this class is hard and challenging to get through. Li Dang definitely didn't make it easy though. She assigns homework due every week on Connect and it can take up to hours to do. It is definitely busy work and doesn't necessarily pertain the midterms. You also have quizzes on every chapter which aren't too bad and the lowest one is dropped. There are three midterms and your final can replace one midterm or if you are satisfied with your grade you don't need to take the final which is great. Her midterms though are hard, very challenging and shows no mercy. I don't necessarily recommend taking her if there is an easier option

She is a very textbook teacher, and what I mean by that is the exams are mostly definitions and concepts from the book; however, you do learn a lot from the Pinkbook project, and Peachtree is pretty cool. There is a lot of group work, which includes a 20-25 minute presentation. She does expect you to know journal entries from 214, so brush up on that. As long as you do your reading and get stuff done in class, it\'s an easy course. Plus, she\'s a really nice person.

Li Dang is a sweet teacher, but like many before me have said she does not know how to teach the material to her students. She is always willing to help students out in office hours and during class, but her lectures are dry, not engaging, and don\'t really have a clear purpose (making it hard to actually UNDERSTAND the material). The class consists of 2 midterms and a final, quizzes at the end of class, participation, and some Peachtree assignments at the end of the quarter. Be SURE to know your BUS214 stuff as the material comes back to haunt you on the first two midterms. The pink book project was pretty easy. Overall the workload wasn\'t too bad at all, the material from the book is quite repetetive but it\'s pretty easy stuff. Oh, a tip for studying for the final exam. Do her practice test multiple times and go over the concept check questions at the end of each chapter (she gets many of her questions from both of these sources).

Such a sweet lady, and really wants to see you succeed. The class is not very hard, and if you do decent on tests and group work, it's easy to get a B. For tests make sure you study any and all lists in the book, and know vocab. Also, review basic accounting concepts if you don't know them very well before entering the class. It WILL come back to haunt you if you don't understand the basic concepts we learned in 214.

The material in this class is really dry. Nobody really cares about internal controls or corporate governance. It would take an incredibly enthusiastic and creative person to make this class enjoyable. As a person, Li is a complete sweetheart, she does everything she can do to help you, and makes herself accessible. She is pretty easy to understand, and she covers what you need to know for projects & tests. The groupwork is rather time consuming, but the manual project provides a lot of quality experience with journal entries, posting, and financial statements. I think she does very well with the class given the course content, and she is a very pleasant person to be around. Pretty relaxed atmosphere. Don't have any reservations about taking this class with her.

Li is a super nice person and wants to help her students. The course is dry and she knows that. She usually lets the class out early so that is a plus. The class consists of 2 midterms, final, daily quizzes (which are super easy and you can work in groups) and group projects. Sounds like a lot but it is not. Just read the book for the midterms and you should do fine.

Li is really sweet but I had some communication problems with her. English is her second language so she doesnt quite understand questions like a first language English teacher would. She uses every second of class and even lectures before midterms. The final is worth about a third of your grade. She has a quiz at the end of every class but you can work with people. The pink book project and peachtree project absolutely suck and are structured so ridiculously, but you just have to get through it. The class is more so information systems then it is accounting. Li really cares about her students, but it's a demanding class for sure.

One of the sweetest ladies you could ever meet. However, her class was extremely dry and boring and I don't feel that her tests were accurate assessments. There's a lot of memorization involved on trivial matters (like exactly how to add a customer in the Peachtree program; I know how to do it when I open the program, but I don't remember the exact items to select and in what order, why would I need to know that?). I also should have done better in the class, but I had a lot going on during the quarter. I don't think you have much choice in who to take in 319, and she's super nice and the subject matter isn't that difficult. It's probably an easy B if you put average effort into it and definitely possible to get an A if you study everything she gives you multiple times or if you have a photographic memory.

Professor Dang has moved hear from China. She also has a Ph.D. in accounting. So with that said, she nows her stuff but has a heard time sending the message across to her students because of the language barrier and her accent. On the other hand, she is very knowledgeable, she is a professor that genuinely cares and students can feel it. She is always prepared and extremely efficient at returning back graded work. One major thing, the course load is very heavy so prepare to spend a lot of time studying. The workbook that comes with the course is not required to be completed and turned in but if you want an A in the class than I recommend you buy to two workbooks. Use one for practice and than the other one to run a pretest on before a midterm. She always says that we must do each problem three times and she's not kidding!!! Midterms are worth the most but if you do run through the workbook three times, it will be a breeze. The first exam is easy review and is worth less than the other two. The second exam is the hardest and the third/final is relatively easier. Good Luck!!! Would recommend her as a professor.

Dang is a very knowledgable about the subject. However, the class seems almost pointless since the midterm and the final are directly from the (relatively large)homework packet and because she lets you bring in one page of double sided notes that can be computer processed. It is a bit difficult to understand what she says but if you put some work in you should be fine

I thought she was a really difficult professor because she seemed to go faster and faster through the material as time passed. In the beginning she was very slow (almost too slow) but sped up so suddenly that we were covering what she called very important material in a day and then would move on. I would definately recommend going to her office hours as I started doing that near the end of the quarter and she was very helpful and nice to me. But I'm not giving her a perfect "A" simply because I know she left a lot of students in the dust with the pure speed she was going at.

1. Not clear as to what is going to be on the test. 2. Lectures are worthless. Goes over the questions from the course note packet you buy for the class and that's hit. 3. Very hard to understand. 4. Course is pure memorization. She says she wants you to "understand" the material but lectures only make things more confusing.

She is a nice person and is helpful during office hours, but her lectures are horrid. Her style is so monotone that I fought to stay awake in class the entire the quarter. All she does in class is work problems directly from the workbook -- you don't actually learn any concepts, so I wound up buying an Intermediate Accounting textbook to supplement the class. Her exams contain multiple sections which consists of conceptual questions, so just being able to work the problems from her workbook is not enough to get a good grade. You'll need to understand the concepts, which is severely lacking in her lectures (textbook comes in handy).

There are not enough bad things to say about this class and this professor. I must say it absolutely amazes me that the Cal Poly business department makes her the sole instructor for this class and doesn't give students the option of avoiding taking her for BUS 321. Li Dang is a terrible instructor for this course as she stands up in front of the class and reads (no not lectures she would have to be able to teach to do that)in her broken English accent (often verbatim) from the course packet of notes. I and my colleges found ourselves lost and often confused when she would gloss over difficult material at lightning speeds with little explanation, all the while saying it would all magically "work itself out" if we did the problems. I personally don't understand how you can learn a topic with 1 practice problem and redo it 5 or 6 times when you already know the answers (wouldn't you need different practice problems?) It's very frustrating also that the entire course is out of 200 points and this leaves a very little margin of error (remember statistics?) which means that in order to get a good grade in this class you not only have to be able to teach yourself the material via course notes, understand her often badly worded test questions, but also not have any bad days. That being said I was on top of this class from day 1 and still struggled tooth and nail to get a B. As far as the midterms go the length makes them very difficult to finish and often you will find yourself writing to the last minute when she calls time and still have 4 or 5 multiple choice questions left. I will say two positive things about this class is that she makes and effort to explain things in office hours and that you get a note card. That's about it. So keeping these things in mind good luck this quarter and here is what you should do from the first day to increase your chances of getting a higher grade (some may seem obvious but often overlooked). Go over all the exercises at least twice before the midterm (know them inside out), have a good note card, go to office hours, don't slack off at all (also don't EVER lose easy points on attendance as I saw some people absent on certain days and was wondering how they could miss this class unless a family member had died), and lastly brush up on BUS 214 stuff that first weekend by borrowing a friend's book or one on library reserve if you have forgotten 214 material because you WILL be expected to know it.

Professor Li moves very quickly and definitely focuses on the practical aspects of the 321 material. Personally, I wish she included more theory to help the journal entries etc make sense. However, if you go to her office she is always more than happy to help and explain the theory behind the problems. If you want to do well, you must do the course packet problems at least twice. It also really helps to try them before class so that you can come with specific questions. The tests consist of multiple choice questions as well as 2-3 short problems to work. The short answer problems are usually very much like the course packet problems. The multiple choice questions are often from her lecture notes or related to journal entries and calculations. The final for our class was all multiple choice and was only worth 30 points out of 200, the mid-terms were 60 and 70 points, respectively. There is also a fairly easy group project, a few announced quizzes, and attendance points. She is not a great teacher, but not the worst either. Her grading system is straight forward, she is generous with partial credit, and her test questions are fair if you have done what she suggests. Also (as mentioned below) every point counts so don’t lose any easy ones!!

Li Dang is definitely not for everyone. Her lecturing style is very repetitive, straight from the course packet. With that in mind, I feel that the course packet was thorough and covered well by the examples and practice questions. If you understand the packet, the exams will be easy as they follow similar concepts and the short answer questions are essentially verbaitum. She's really helpful in her office hours and knows her students by name. I don't think she was horrible, and I like her much better than the mandatory professor for 322, as she was consistent and clear with both homework, exams, and lecturing. The final project is graded really randomly though, and that definitely turned the curve for alot of people's borderline grades. if you have to take her for 321, Don't worry. just do the course packet and you'll be fine! And she's not all that bad. Just because she has an asian accent doesn't mean she doesn't know how to speak English- actually her syntax is very clear and if she ever made a grammatical mistake, she corrected herself!

Professor Dang is does a good job in presenting the materials. I've read through some of the comments, and i have to say that might not be the best accounting professor but she is not the worst! Some people need to stop complaining about her accent. The education system includes many professors from all over the world; so instead of complaining about her accent, you should learn to adapt to this. In business world is going more global everyday, so stop complaining and learn how to deal with this; it can make you a more successful person.

A wonderful sweet person...but a terrible professor. She knows the material well and is extremely well educated. Also, don\'t let anyone tell you the accent makes things difficult to understand because it doesn\'t. The bottom line is she does not present the material clearly. Come test time you will find yourself in the library memorizing the material not knowing how it applies. Her office hours don\'t help either. If you can take someone else.

Li Dang is such a sweet lady. I love her as a person, but as a professor she is not up to par. Her lectures are just a review of the homework questions and her explanations are unclear. Her accent is not an impediment, but she literally uses up 100% of class time to go over homework questions and give us her own notes on it. While this may be a good supplement to students who have completely read the chapter the night before, taught themselves all the material, and completed the homework before showing up to class, for the average student taking 16 units, this is not possible. Furthermore, though the material itself is not that tough, Li complicates it so much. She also gives practice exams before the midterm with which you can practice, but the tests are very very very difficult. I always studied very well, went to office hours, did all the hwk questions 20 times each AND read the entire chapters and took notes-- however, none of this was helpful because she tests on concepts not addressed in any of that material. Personally, I thought about 60-70% of her exams were unfair testing because they tested material not gone over in the book/lectures. I am not bashing on her because I am unhappy with my grade, but this is an honest testament to how the class is. Unfortunately, she is the only option for intermediate I most quarters so if you are in this class, I wish you best of luck.

Listen to her tips and you'll do fine. The intermediate series is not easy and people that don't put in the time do not get a good grade, but I believe that is all on them. However, if you put in hard work, listen to her tips on how to succeed, and are willing to participate in lectures, you'll easily pull off a B and maybe even A. Professor Dang is incredibly sweet and wants students to succeed so use her as a resource. This isn't financial accounting so don't expect it to be easy. Her tests are difficult, but work hard and everything will be fine. The peopled that complained about getting C's also weren't doing any of the homework when I asked them......

Li Dang is a fantastic teacher. She is so funny and actually makes class entertaining and easy to sit through. She is great at laying out the learning objectives and making things very clear. Her tests are very straightforward and exactly like the practice tests she gives out before each exam. She encourages participation and is great at clearly addressing questions. Definitely take this professor love her

Li Dang is AWESOME. One of the best teachers I have had at cal poly. She truly cares about the success of each and every one of her students. She is very available during office hours and provides many opportunities to get additional help, as this is a difficult course. Li Dang is the cutest and sweetest lady! She truly makes accounting fun with her accounting jokes & funny stories. I HIGHLY recommend taking her if you get the opportunity :)

Dang is a great professor. You will work for a good grade in the class. If you slack one bit it will come back to bite you. Her tests are all multiple choice and if you can't handle that I wouldn't recommend taking her. Nevertheless, you will definitely learn the material and know what a real college course is like.

She is a very nice professor. Will definitely answer questions in class although you are pretty much going over the homework for the majority of the lecture. Midterm 1 was not too difficult, 2 was okay and I thought the final was very hard and I felt very prepared for it (re read the chapters, did all the homeworks again, did the practice test 4 times and made a note sheet). The actual test was much harder than the practice so maybe it was just an unfortunate test this quarter. It is definitely possible to get a B or even an A but the tests make up the whole grade

Only 3 exams and a very small participation grade. Pretty straightforward. She lets you use a cheat sheet on the tests so if you read and do practice problems you will be fine.

I am not the type to leave reviews or comments, but I felt like it had to be done. I did not take Dang for Bus 321 because I heard mixed reviews, and accounting has always taken me a little longer to grasp. When she became the teacher for Bus 323, I didn't know what to expect. BUT I LOVE HER! She is extremely clear on the content and open to asking questions. She provides "course packs" to complete and fill out as she lectures. My favorite change from Bus 322 (not taught by Dang) to 323 was that she actually goes over the harder homework problems in the course pack, whether students ask or not. I find it difficult when teachers don't go over homework. Sometimes you think you have it, but don't, or other times you just don't want to ask in class. She isn't intimidating to ask questions to and I never once felt dumb for a question. She is accommodating in class, and doesn't have a problem slowing down or speeding up depending on the class. Her office hours are helpful, but it's not one of those classes where if you don't go in you won't do well or she won't "like" you. I took this course during tax season, so I worked a lot and it was still manageable. Granted, I took it CR/NR but still. Would definitely recommend.
