Wow...the best teacher I've had at Poly by far. The man teaches a hard subject, but outlines his book in a way that makes the material very easy to learn. Yes, you have to AI cows, but Les will help you every step of the way...don't be scared! Tests are NOT hard, as long as you attend lecture and stay engaged. No homework, no book, no out of class reading...just buy the DSCI 330 class outline book thingy...and you're set. AWESOME CLASS, AWESOME TEACHER!

I would recommend Dr. Ferreira to anyone. Not only is he well informed and up-to-date in the field of AI, but he is very good at getting that information to students in a way that is easy to understand. You buy a book with an outline of his notes and just add any notes you want to to that book. Makes it easier to keep notes in order and organized. He does give a lot of material, but he is pretty good about narrowing it down to the important stuff before the exam. There are 3 midterms and the final is optional if you like your grade. The tests are right out of the notes, but you do have to spend some time studying the notes. For the lab final, everyone had to AI 3 cows, but everyone is always able to do it because you get to practice for like 6 weeks. I really enjoyed Dr. Ferreira's class!

Dr. Ferriera knows his stuff, and seems to really enjoy sharing his knowledge with his students. His teaching style is great, and if you don't quite grasp a concept he will do anything to help you better understand...may it be by his chalkboard sketches or descriptive examples and stories! I really enjoyed the labs and lectures even more. Eventhough I may never AI anymore cows in my lifetime, I gained a lot of valuable information and experience I can apply in the future. Want a fun learning experience??? Take this class!!

Les is a really great teacher. I loved this class. He has a great sense of humor, and is very enthusiastic about the material. I had a really good time in this class, and it's something you can take with you even after the class if over. You gain a lot of skills.

Hands down the best teacher ever. His book of notes is cheap and AWESOME. He covers sooo much information and covers it well. The labs are fun, AIing cows is a lot more fun then you would think! A great guy that knows everyones name by the second week and will halp you with anything. He also has a great sense of humor and makes lectures a blast. I learned more in this class then any other class I have ever taken and it wasn't that hard! He just presents info so well. If every teacher at Cal Poly was as good we would be the top University in the world.

Les is one of the funniest teachers at Poly, he rags on DSCI students all the time, even though they get better grades than the weird Animal science girls. Take this AI class if you want to learn about repro and breeding cows

Les was just a really stand-up guy with a sense of humor that would keep you laughing for half his lecture but you'd always learn a LOT in each two hour session. Labs rocked, the TAs were helpful and even when things didn't work out too well due to the bulls' lack of libido (which was quite funny in itself) you still took a lot from the class. Oh, and most labs were done in 45 min to an hour...! Don't expect an A if you don't study, the tests are challenging but definitely ace-able. Enjoy Les's class because it will be one you'll tell all your friends about well after you get your grade!

Les rocks! Study hard because he tests aren't easy. Make sure to ask questions if you don't understand. He will never make you feel uncomfortable. I think he is one of the best professors at Poly!

Les is amazing. The first time I met him, I didn't care for him much and was dreading this class. After a few days in the class, I loved him. He knows everyones names after the first week and really wants all of his students to succeed. The final is optional if you are satisfied with your grade. I ended up taking the final, and raised my grade with it. The final is all short answer, but really easy. He graded it right in front of me after I was finished, so I knew exactly what grade I was getting. The other 3 midterms are half multiple choice, and half short answer. If you have questions ask him, he is very helpful. He is an amazing teacher, and definetly my favorite at Poly so far.

You can't leave the class without actually breding a cow. The first test is a little difficult and the next is easier. I really liked him and you don't have to take the final if you like your grade. Good Teacher, one of my favorites.

Les is the best professor I had at Cal Poly. Everyone should take him. I often found myself stopping by his office after having him just to chat, even quarters later. This class is amazing too. I wasn't really comfortable working with cows in any of my animal science classes, and this class definitely changed that! Take this course - you won't regret it!
