If your looking for an engineering professor who eats/drinks/sleeps creativity Jake is your man. If your not take him anyway you won't regret it. Jake is a great guy and one of the best professors I've had in 5 years and 230 units of college studies.

Uncle Jake is awesome. No book, no test, no quiz, and no final. We just did a few models (some were group projects). Just dont procrasinate on building the models and you'd be fine. I recommand Jake if you want a relaxed and fun ARCE class.

Jake made this class very funny. His colorful language and exciting analogies made the course content very interesting. It's too bad that he is retiring, otherwise I would definetly try to take him again.

Everyone really wanted to take him because he didn't have any tests, quizzes, or textbooks but I didn't really learn anything. Also, going to class is pretty much a waste of time.

There are still no tests in Jake's class. Instead, you have three models due throughout the quarter, all done with a partner or in a group of three. He doesn't tell you when they're due at the beginning of the quarter, but he'll make sure you know as it comes closer. Sometimes, going to class can seem pointless because he rambles about random stuff. But often enough, he'll say some worthwhile things that you should know. Overall, I didn't really learn a whole lot more about ARCE. He challenged my partner and me to come up with "elegant" designs - not awkward looking, hastily put together projects.

Jake is the man - nothing more, nothing less - guy can teach. Take him and you will be very happy. I think he smokes the hookah.

Jake's class is great not because we don't have any tests or quizzes or anything like that (though its always a plus) but because he actually cares about the students, and wants us to learn. His focus was not on the finish product, but that we see why we're doing what we're doing, and that we understand how it works for real in the field. I can say you'll probably learn more useless knowledge in another ARCE class, but you'll be far better off taking Jake's class, both as a student, and as a person. Jake is a great guy, and he's one of those teacher's I'll miss after I graduate.

When Jake teaches 316, it\'s a concrete project. You don\'t do calculations. It is a very time-consuming project, but if you listen to what Jake says, you\'ll be efficient and avoid all sorts of problems before they arise. He is very good at communicating exactly what you need to do, and can help you solve any problem you run in to. He is very supportive of his students and will work with you and your schedule as long as you take the time to communicate with him ahead of time.

Jake is the most dedicated professor I\'ve ever had at Cal Poly. While the concrete project is very time consuming and frusterating at times, Jake will always be there to help, he works around your schedule and will show up to help you at any time... even at 8 am on weekends and he would stay until 10pm at nights. He wants you to have a good project and is so dedicated to the class. He even brought us hot chocolate and cup of noodles (which he always kept fully stocked). This guy REALLY LOVES TO TEACH! Believe me this project really seems like the last thing you need or want to do but in the end it really is kinda cool when its all done.

What can you say about Jake Feldman other than he's one of the best professor's I've ever encounter. I've never met a man with more integrity and that cares so much about his students and structures. Yes, his class doesn't have quizzes, calculations, midterms or final but it has several group models that actually help you understand the key, core, concept of ARCE that you can then apply to the rest of your projects. His teaching ways are some of the best. He makes his explanation easy and clear enough that even people with no ARCH or ARCE experience can understand. If you can take him, do it. I promise you wont regret it.

I didn't feel like I learned that much from Jake, and the projects were a waste of time. But he is good at using engineering to enhance a building, which is a nice change for an arce professor.

Except the first 2-3 weeks, I didn't learn much from that point; other than student team work efforts; (No hard feelings, please..) Thank you..

Super nice guy (we didnt have any tests)...just felt like the majority of the class was a waste of time. The first weeks were spent doing ARCE 211/ARCE 212 type work which is fine for review purposes, but unnecessary for the amount of we time spent on it. If we didnt know this material, we wouldnt be in this class... Last couple of topics were rushed (see above) and we even had a project assigned the last week of school, to be completed finals week.
