Fawcett was an awesome Spanish professor! I took Spanish in high school but never retained the information very well. I learned more from him in one quarter than I did in 2 years of high school. He was very funny and the class was a relaxed atmosphere. Tests were easy if you do the reading and study the vocabulary.

Dr. Fawcett was the best teach I have ever had at Cal Poly. He\'s funny, tells awesome stories, and most of all makes you really love Spanish. He makes it fun and interesting. I took 101, 102, and 103 with him this year and if I could take 121 with him next year I would but he\'s not teaching it. He doesn\'t have due dates for any of the assignments so you can turn in everything at the end of the quarter. He\'s really flexible and helps in anyway he can to make sure you do well. DEFINITELY TAKE HIM! You won\'t regret it!

For this most part this was a pretty standard Spanish class. Do the chapter, do the workbook, do the lab, take the test. About halfway through the quater he started putting these obscure culture on the tests. The answers were in the textbook but they weren't the sort of thing you remembered after reading it. It made it hard not to miss at least a few points on the tests.

Dr Fawcett is the best teacher you will likely encounter in the foreign language department, and he certainly can be counted among the best teachers you will ever meet at Cal Poly. You will learn from him without even trying, that's how good a teacher he is. But don't get me wrong, for a decent grade you MUST do the work. His classes are entertaining, and this man has absolutely ZERO arrogance, which is pretty unique for a Cal Poly professor. Take him if you have the chance.

Great teacher and funny guy. Moderate work load and fairly easy tests. Lab and workbook homework takes a good amount of time each week to complete, but that's required for all foreign languages. Mention his friend "Rigoberto" for a good laugh.

Somehow, Senor Fawcett is able to cram a tremendous amount of material into just a few weeks while making the class manageable and stress free. He uses humor in class, which goes a long way to making an 8 am class tolerable. I would highly recommend him.

I really enjoyed Fawcett's class and I learned a lot. He was very nice about letting you turn in late work and he always answers your questions. I thought it was easy but only because he taught it well. You probably don't want to miss any classes because he takes off points for absences. TAKE THIS CLASS, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!

Sr. Fawcett is such a good professor. He explains the material well, has a good sense of humor, grades easily, and there is NO MIDTERM!!! Although there are tests about every two weeks, they are pretty easy and usually consist of vocabulario y preguntas orales. He even gives the oral questions to study before the test (and the answers). The class requires you to go to the Spanish Lab to listen to passages and answer questions, but it's not very time consuming and they're really easy if you pay attention in class. The only negative thing about this class is that purchasing the book is required because of the lab manual and it's about 98 bucks. Sr. Fawcett incorporates culture into the class, which is really cool if you are at all interested. There are two pelicula assignments where you have to go out and rent a video and write about it; one can be in English though. The movies aren't that bad and he gives some suggestions. Oh yeah, and he accepts late homework. His philosophy is "better late than never". Great professor.

Mr. Fawcett is a very fair teacher. His class is easy to do well in if you go every day and pay attention as well as doing the workbook and lab activities. Hes very funny and has great stories. Class is not boring at all which makes going that much easier. There is a test on every chapter so about once every week or two- dont fall behind on your work. Be sure to read the Nota Cultural right before you take the test so you will remember all the facts about whatever country the notes are about- there will be at least 2 questions on the test about it. Overall an awesome teacher.

Professor Fawcett is extremely intelligent, and expects a lot from his students. I didn't find him boring at all, because if you listen and understand what he is saying, you can detect his subtle sense of Humor, and his stories which are usually very entertaining. If you don't understand whats going on in class, SEE HIM. He will help you. I was pulling C's on his tests because I tried to memorize all of his "Preguntas Orales." After I talked to him and he helped me, I earned an A. Don't fall behind in the workbook or the lab because otherwise you will be working your butt off trying to finish all of the stuff. I highly recommend this Professor. Take him if you want to learn something

First of all, I don't have an A yet, as we haven't taken finals, but I'm almost sure I'm going to get one.... Now, re. Fawcett, you could learn Spanish from this guy without even trying. I came into his Spanish 103 class thinking I'd do poorly, but I'm doing great, thanks to the fact that he presents the material so flawlessly. He also mixes teaching with joke and story telling in Spanish, which makes the class fun to go to. This guy doesn't put himself on a pedestal with arrogance blowing out of his ass like many of the professors here. Instead, he is able to relate to the students by just being a normal guy, sharing stuff about his life, and teaching us Spanish better than any other teacher I've ever encountered.

Professor Fawcett is awesome!! He has great methods of explaining concepts. If the class is having trouble with something, he can always help up understand. He makes you comfortable with the language. He tells REALLY funny stories all quarter. Do miss a class because attendence is taken everyday. The tests are not very hard. Just study what he tells you to study. Overall, it's a great class. Try to get Fawcett for any Spanish class.

Prof. Fawcett is th best professor that I have had since being at Cal Poly. I jumped from 101(at my highschool) to 103 at CP and it wasn't diffictult. Mr. Fawcett presented the material very well and always went over the material several times whenever a student didn't understand it. The tests are not hard, just be sure to study each tense and the vocab you learned. Also, don't skip a class because he will lower your grade. I suggest to everyone to make sure to get Mr. Fawcett as your spanish teacher no matter what. He is the best and most understandable with his students. He gets an A from me!

Fawcett makes it clear what he expects students to know and grades them on that. I had prof Fagan for 101 and 102 and he's a nice guy but not as good of a teacher as Fawcett. Fawcett helps you understand Spanish, he's not intimidating and if you keep up somewhat with the class you'll get a good grade. I got a C but only because I really slacked off on the course by missing class and assignments. If you put in the effort it's not hard to get an A. Plus he is a good, effective teacher.

Fawcett is awesome. The best part about this professor is that he learned Spanish second hand just like everyone in the class is trying to do. He has an amazing understanding of the language that even native speakers can't quite grasp. I am not good at Spanish by any means, but this was a really encouraging class. Just do the homework...which makes up a huge part of your grade. The tests are exactly as he says...no surprises. I used to say I hated Spanish, but after this class, my mind has changed. He's great. I'm horrible at Spanish and he's been the best professor I've understood the best. He helps students, he's clear about what he wants, and is a good guy all around; some spanish profs have a tendency to just speak in spanish throughout the whole lecture, as a sort of baptism by fire way to get students used to the language, but the fact that Fawcett takes the time to provide translations for things and explain the differences in certain sentence structures makes him a great professor. I'd recommend him, most definitely.

Hands down, Fawcett is the best teacher at Poly. He makes learning spanish fun and easy. He talks in Spanish but if you ever don't understand something he will gladly say it in English so that you do understand it. He excepts late work up until the day of the final and doesn't mark off any points no matter how late it is. No homework to turn in except workwork pages on the day of the tests which are about once every 2 weeks and are a piece of cake! I recommend taking Fawcett if you can...he is awesome!

This class was alright- I didnt really try at all and got a B. The final was a joke, especially the spoken part. he was good about not making people feel pressured about speaking the language well, and he had a very "white" accent, so he was easy to understand. the biggest problem i had with him was that this was the first foriegn language class i had taken at poly, and he NEVER said in class that we needed to go and do the language lab, so by the time i realized we were supposed to be doing it, i was 3 weeks behind. He is a good teacher if you just want to pass the class, but you wont really learn much from him.

Dr. Fawcett is a good teacher. Spanish is his second language, so he understands the common hardships that are associated with learning a language. His class is VERY easy. Your grade consists of weekly tests and short papers (half page) on pre-assigned topics. He lets you know what is on the tests ahead of time if you go to class. Take detailed notes, because the sentences you translate in class are on the test. The only thing I didn't like about the class, is that it is pretty boring. You do the same thing every single day. But it is definitely an easy A

Fawcett teaches the class almost entirley in spanish and requires all students to participate and speak in class. His work load isn't too bad (worksheets) and he's pretty relaxed about late assigments. He takes almost all of his test questions directly from class lecture notes and is very clear about what he tests you on. If you aren't very confident with your spanish this may not be the easiest class.

If you really want to work on your speaking and listening skills in spanish, take this class. There is hardly any in class writing assignments- in fact none. The only assignments due are the chapter lab/lecture workbook pages and a paragraph typed on various surrealists and foreign films. Even if you don't hand in anything on time, he will accept all late work up til the VERY last day of class. As long as you go to lecture and reveiw before each exam, its an easy A. Fawcett is a crack up anyways- take this class if you want to hear is funny life stories and learn spanish at the same time.

This is my 6th year taking a Spanish class, and Fawcett was absolutely one of my favorites. He gives a test (more like a quiz) for every chapter covered in class, and he pretty much tells you exactly what will be on it. Pay attention in class because he uses almost the exact same questions. There's barely any homework, just a few short written assignments (about one per chapter), and he doesn't even read the lab pages you do, so you can copy all the answers from the back of the book if you want. Very easy and enjoyable class. Fawcett is a great professor!

Yes, like others have mentioned, this class is easy. And yes, it's perfect for an easy A. You know what is expected and the 'preguntas orales' that you do in class are the exact ones on the tests. But he focuses on memorization rather than on actual understanding. Thank goodness I'm already above this level of Spanish because he doesn't little to none that actually improve your skills. This was my second time taking a class with Fawcett, and once again I was blown away with how easy the course was. The first week of class I was completely terrified because it reminded me of an advanced English course, except this was a foreign language. I was proven wrong, however, as the quarter progressed. He lectures on the exact same material that he used for the tests. You have to write 5 compositions. I received lower scores than I wanted on my first two, but you will discover over the quarter what he expects. I ultimately received As on my final compositions. A lot of the class bombed his first test because we didn't know what to expect, but just stick it out and you'll do great. I highly recommend this professor and class, especially if you love Spanish.

DO NOT TAKE FAWCETT FOR 124 IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE WITH SPANISH. Once you get past Fawcett's easy 124, you will have 233, where the profs expect you to have had a good 124 course, and you haven't. He's quite possibly the shadiest and funniest character you will ever meet, and his lectures are peppered with ridiculous and hilarious half-made-up stories of the different people he knows all over the world, like his friend named Gaye in Zacatecas that lives in a saloon and sleeps in a bathtub, but she was possibly trying to have him poisoned?
