Professor Fanchon is a nice guy, but I just couldn't understand half the words that came out of his mouth, because of his accent. There are only 2 midterms and a final, so I really only had to study a couple days before each test and that was all the effort I had to put into this class. The tests are difficult, however they're curved, usually by at least a whole grade. All I have to say is that if I hear the words fish, cocunuts, or spam (Fanchon's favorite examples to use for all the graphs) ever again I'll scream.

Phil is the man! I really hope i get to take him again. His class was insanely easy and he does not give much homework. He is a really sweet teacher. A must get.

this guy has the WORST accent ever! you cannot understand a word the guy says. its all good if your taking econ 221 though cuz the class is so damn easy. if i went, i slept (due to his soothing french accent and my lack of sleep). i rarely read too. he uses the EXACT questions from the online quizes so print those out.. memorize the answers... and get a legit grade.

This guy has a funny french accent. Funny teacher, kindof nuts though. PRACTICE WITH THE ONLINE QUIZZES. Thats all you need to know.

I went to literally 50% of the classes, and got a B+. Maybe this guy knows his stuff, but he takes 45 minutes to explain what could be explained in 10. His tests are based on the online practice tests...but he doesn't give a practice final. The material is easy, but you'll have to self-teach. He doesn't relate to the students, but he means well. Nice guy. Bad teacher. Easy class. Learn...nothing.

i took this teacher because of poly ratings but it was a big mistake. It seemed like a good idea because i had a really packed quarter and he has no hw or reading material. The problem is that your grade in the course are based on 3 30 question tests so its hard to get a good grade. The lectures were powerpoints that were online which were decent to follow but i wished i had a text book to fall back on. If you know econ and want an easy class, take him. If you are the type of person that likes text books and hw to help your grade, dont.

great polyrating..... HORRIBLE TEACHER. honestly, he really doesnt care about the students and makes the class incredibly difficult. 2 tests and the final, and if you miss one question on either of the tests, its a B. if you want to be lazy, and get a C, take the class... Otherwise, take another ECON teacher, do the minimal work, and get a better grade.

I took Econ during London Study last spring. Fanchon is a cool guy and makes Econ as exciting as it can be I guess. He is one of your best bets for Economics.

By far, the worst ECON teacher I have ever had. No motivation or energy was ever shown in Dr. Fanchon's lectures and the only thing I can remember is his damn duck he'd squeek to try and get evreyone's attention.

Fanchon is a horrible professor. Although his lectures were some-what stimulating (if you could decipher what he was saying through his accent) he was still a bit boring. The mid-term and final reviews online DID NOT HELP at all. I studied my a$$ off for the final and recieved a D+. His entire class is based 40% on the midterm and 60% on the final. If you fail the midterm he will let your final be 100% of your grade. This isnt bad if you love econ.... but honestly, who likes econ?!?! HE HAS HARD TESTS BUT PSUEDO-INTERESTING LECTURES.

Professor Franchon is not a good teacher for this class. There is no book to support the lectures, you just buy the lecture notes from the bookstore. If you don't have any economics background do not take this class. This class was so boring! I had a hard time going to the lectures and staying the whole time. Your grade is based on a midterm and the final, there is no homework. I also tried to get to his office hours a few times but he was always running late and he didn't explain my questions very clearly. There were also a ton of technical problems. I don't think a day went by when something wasn't working right; computer, overhead, powerpoint.

What Fanchon fails to do in this class is engage the students in lecture. Most of the time it felt like I was watching a man talk to himself. The accent does not help much either. However....there is no book for this class, and you can get his lecture slides at 2nd edition. If you like not spending money and teaching yourself econ...take Fanchon.

He just came over from france, so he has a thick french accent, and sometimes mumbles, so it's hard to understand him at times. His lectures are extremely boring, but they're all on powerpoint, and he has his own book to purchase, so they're really easy to follow. The powerpoint notes aren't easy to follow if you just read them though, so you have to go to class. Also, he only has one midterm(40%) and a final(60%), and he doesn't require you to get a book, but you should, cause it would help a lot!!! You have to work hard to get a good grade in his class

He is a nice guy but cannot clearly articulate the material. He is lazy and gets all of his test questions off of an online test bank that are totally different than what he tries to teach you. Fuck this guy he sucks.

Fanchon is one of the most caring prof. in the college of business. Anyone who has anything bad to say about him is butt hurt about their grade. The tests are fair and he is SMART. He will help you with any problem if you just ask. He is hard to hear (soft spoken) so sit close. If poly had more professors like this then we would be a BIG NAME business school.

Fanchon is really smart and is a very good teacher. You'll get used to the accent. For 310, study hard with groups, same for 311 (I'm in it now). Take hime for the 310-311-312 series!

Prof. Fanchon is a wonderful professor. I recommend him for Econ 310-312 series, he is really smart and funny. Also if you mess up on the midterm you can redeem yourself on the final. I got a fat F on the midterm and ended up with a B in the class. The homework are fairly easy and it's only 1 midterm and a final.

This guy rocks. I took him for the 310-312 classes and I learned a ton. I got an A in all of the classes, but I had to study. The good news is if you screw up the midterm he will toss it out and give you whatever you get on the final. So STUDY for the final! And Fanchon has the coolest car on campus. "Can you do it after 3 beers?"

Dr. Fanchon is very knowledgable about Economics. Though at times his lectures are quite dull, but Economics is not the most exciting subject in the world. For this class we covered chapters 1-5. He provided pdf files of his lectures which were very helpful. We had one midterm, homework and a final. I didn't like how the book showed us to do certain things one way and he'd make us do it another way. It was confusing and it would have been better if the book corresponded with how he wanted us to learn the subjects. That was the most frustrating part about this class. The final did not really reflect everything we learned in the class.

Franchon is a cool guy, but it is hard to understand what he is saying. The tests are really hard, and the lectures do not help to prepare you for the test. You need to make sure that you go the SI class if you want to understand everything. Also make sure that you study, study, study for his tests. However, his test are curved so don't stress to much. The midterm barely counts for anything so don't worry about it, and just concentrate on the final.

Fanchon is a great choice for the 310,311,312 series if you're an econ major. Tests are frequent, but are very straight forward. His grading system is also very forgiving. If you bomb a couple of the tests but do well on the final, you can still walk out with a good grade in the class. He is all about econ and it really shows in his teaching. Got an A with minimal effort outside of class. Good teacher and a cool guy.

Dr Fanchon is a good teacher who knows a ton. Take advantage of having this guy as a professor because he will teach you a lot. The only problem is sometimes he takes things so far over our heads that the only two people that understood what was going on were Fanchon and Lauren.

Fanchon is one of the best econ teachers I have taken so far. He tries his best to explain a subject that is boring and he really takes time to explain key concepts in the class. He tests are pretty difficult though, but his grading system makes up for that. Great class

Missed the first day, went to the second day. Went to the midterm. Went to the Final. Three days of class total. I got a B, easy. This kind of shit gives our school a bad name.
