I dropped out of Prof. Endres class right away, after the first 20 minutes of class I knew that he was'nt going to be the teacher for me. I have a very difficult time with Chemistry and his lectures are just out there. They don't make any sense at all. I looked at my notes after the first day and they didn't make any sense to me whatsoever. So if you are not so good at Chem, I suggest you take a different teacher or just wait to take Chem later.

endres is not a very good teacher. he speaks very quietly so you have to sit close to hear him. also, he often assumes that you already have some background in chem because he sometimes flies through things and assuems that you understand. He is good to go talk to in office hours becuase he will help you as long as you need it. I had lecture and lab with him, and his lab is sooo easy. We had 2 quizes and 1 notebook check and the rest of our points was from homework. I would recommend endres for lecture simply because his class structure is so easy. There are no midterms, just a quiz every friday, which are easy and are on what you did for that week only. there is one final at the end of the quarter, which is 50% of your grade or 25% of your grade, whichever you prefer. Take endres. he is easy.

Dr. Endres is a nice old man who has a dry sense of humor. His class was easy I thought, with a quiz every week and then a final. His quizzes comes straight from the take home quizzes, and so does the final. He really only tests you with calculation problems, very little theory. He helped in office hours, but sometimes had trouble recognizing the question you were asking. The notes were pretty light but always came in handy on homework. Basically, he is a good easy teacher who does not let his ego get in the way of your learning, unlike my lab teacher!

He is a horrible teacher. He doesn't explain anything and when you ask for help he doesn't answer your questions. He speaks very quietly and he mumbles. I sit in the front and still have a hard time hearing him. He'll be talking about something and writing on the board, then stops talking and keeps writing, but when he starts talking again, it's about something completely different! My entire class is just BSing our way through everything because we don't have a clue what we're doing and we can't get any help from the professor. It'll only be the beginning of the 4th week and we haven't learned anything; not to mention we're behind all the other lab classes. He's horrible! Don't take him if you can help it.

Wow... what a lazy teacher. hes old. but a grumpy old man. he doesnt help you if you want help in lab. he grumbes at you a lot and sometimes yells at u you wondering why or how you dont know how to do something be cause obviously it is soooo simple.... (why would we be asking for help if we understood) whe i needed help on the labs i went to my lecture teacher which was much more helpful. he doesnt really tell you anyhting about the lab. he will write some gibberish on the board you need to interpret and if you can successfully interpret it, you are golden, but most of the time you cant. Take him if you understand chem and labs very well and dont want to sit in a class while a proffessor explains it. otherwise i would advise staying away.

dont get this teacher! he is old and doesnt care at all about his students. for the pre lab he mumbles at the board and writes a bunch of things that no one can read or understand and gets mad when u ask questions. the quizzes are really hard and he doesnt prepare you at all. he marks you down for the lamest little mistakes on the labs. if you can avoid this teacher, do! hes horrible

Well.....Dr Endres is a very nice instructor and his grading system is very favorable to the students. His lectures can be very difficult to grasp .However, if you study and go to his office hours the material starts to make sense. I would recommend Dr Endres....Remember O Chem isn't easy so work hard and don't blame the instructors........

Dr. Endres is not for everyone. The advantages of his teaching are that he quizzes on a weekly basis, and the only large test you have is at the end of the quarter. Therefore, you are given "take home quizzes" which are really just homework assignments, and if you do these each week, and make sure you understand them, you'll do fine on the quizzes. This let's you concentrate on a small amount of material and forces you to keep up with it. Two things I like. Also, he is extremely accessible. And he needs to be because everyone tends to be rather confused. So his office hours are always full of people. You often have to wait in line. But at least he's there. AND IF YOU DON'T GET IT JUST KEEP ASKING HIM. So yeah, he's not the greatest lecturer. Organic chemistry, as noted, isn't easy though. It would take a miracle worker for someone to just get up in class and make O-chem easy.

Poor communication and lack of any discussion of safety procedures lead to several beaker explosions and him yelling at students. Not interested in answering questions. Very close to retirement or has come out of retirement to teach. Bad attitude and superior attitude toward students meant a horrible quarter full of put-downs and bad feelings.

Let's see...the best way to describe Dr. E... Well, there are times when his sarcasm falls upon the wrong people, so if you offend easily, you might do your best to avoid his class. Lectures are EXTREMELY boring -- there is no way around that. He's slightly picky in his grading, and his lab reports -- holy cow! But, on the bright side, his pace is pretty nice; he doesn't go into the super-detail the other OChem professors go into (you'll learn the "needed" reactions, not every single one), and you'll finish a week early in lab because he'll either skip stuff or combine labs by working in groups. His homework is nice because it's reflected on the weekly quizzes -- the Final exam, btw, is just like the quizzes (just longer). Multiple grading schemes - the one you do best on is your final grade. (So, the final could be worth 40% of your grade or 25% -- depends.) Except for his obvious downfalls (he likes to talk to the board), he's not that bad.

Dr. E was very approachable in office hours, but it would take him a few minutes to realize that you were there and needed help. His lectures are pretty dry, and I didn't understand them very well. I went to office hours quite often and that is where i clarified the material. His weekly quizes are good because it makes you keep up with the material. He acurately teaches the material, because I have now taken a few graduate school examinations and his weekly quizes have questions that were very similar to questions on the graduate exams. Try to fight with him for extra points on the quizes, and you might get some more points. i did. After the first quarter with him, 317 and 318 are much easier because you understand how he teaches.

Dr. Endres is awsome. He may not be the best in class lecturer and you may fall asleep, but he will sit in office hours with you untill you understand the concepts. I took both 316 and 317 and almost failed 317. After hours of help and the benifits of his grading scheme I ended up passing with a C. His lab is wonderful and he is the type of teacher you can joke around with.

Dr E was great he is the most caring teacher i have ever taken at poly. the quizes are very similar to the take home quizzes and the exams are very similar to the quizzes. if you are having any problems with the material he gives you alot of help in his office hours. he is also a very laid back lab instructor.

Wow, where do I start with Dr. Endres, and the term "doctor" is stretching it. Personally, I think he'd be a much better janitor than teacher but I guess he didn't get the memo. First of all I am not writing this to rag on him for a poor grade he gave me b/c he didn't fail me. I am writing this to warn anyone taking his class that he is unprofessional and pretty much just a jerk. Throughout your quarter or God forbid year with Dr. E you will see him A. stare at your boobs pretty much everytime you talk to him (if you have them), B. mumble incoherent and incomplete sentences during your three hours a week of torture or what he calls a "lecture", C. give a smart ass remark everytime you ask him a question, D. pass gas, E. scratch his "stuff" F. not teach you anything. If you have him for lab be prepared to get no help b/c he'll be too busy checking his email. Also, try to leave as soon as possible otherwise he'll tell you it's Miller time and to get the hell out. My best advice is to buy him a 6'er after the tests b/c he informed the class that he used to give better grades when he was feelin' good if you know what I mean. Have fun b/c your in for a real treat with him.

Dr. E was an okay professor. His tests are much easier than other O-Chem professors, BUT he doesn't teach you anything. His lectures were very poorly organized and he mumbles the key points under his breath (didn't figure that one out until the end of the quarter). Go to office hours, that helps a little bit. On the whole, just avoid him if you can, but if you can't he's not THAT bad, but definitely not good either. Lab is no picnic either.

Dr. Endres is one of the worst professor I have ever had. Rather than teach me something or help me understand the book, I ended up going to other Organic Chemistry professor. Overall, I think I must have a different professor compared to some of the people who wrote the evaluations. Dr. Enderes tend to mumble his lecture. A lot of times he is so quiet, that you can not hear him even sitting in the front of the room. He has a tedency to scratch himself during lecture and lab. He also has tedency to "glance" at female student's breast. His homework load wasn't a lot compared to other ochem prof. He gives out take home quizzes (collected), and assign book problems (not collected). He gives weekly quizzes, and a test about 8th or 9th week of class plus a final. His grading policy is fair, and he does drop your lowest quiz grade. However, he never teach you anything important, you will have to read the book to learn what is important. He also has a hard time teaching mechanisms, which is something that is very important. Sometimes he will write the wrong mechanism while lecturing or skip a few steps so you become completely lost. He does sort of curve the grade eventually in the end. The final grades weren't that good, and if you add up your scores, you will notice he did curve. I think he only curve when it is really necessary in the end.

His labs are pretty relaxed, but he's not very clear with certain directions and most of the time things feel disorganized. He's old, so most of the time when you ask him a question, he won't hear you the first time. I really like him though, he's approachable and when he cracks jokes they're kind of funny.

I cannot think of a more arrogant instructor in the Chem dept or on campus. This guy's lectures makes golf interesting. Females can count on an inflated grade. If personality was a pissing contest, he'd need diapers. Avoid this guy if you can.

I took the organic serie with Dr Endres. Yes, his lecture are difficult to understand but he knows that. You need to work to succeed in his class (How surprising!). However, his grading scale is extremely favorable to the students. The guy is very friendly and helpful at his office hours or in lab. I recommend Dr Endres even if his lecture drove me crazy at times.

I love Dr. Endres! He is sweetest guy ever and reminds of my grandpa. He is there for the students and WANTS to see you get a good grade. Not only is he approachable and willing to help, but he is willing to push back quizzes and exams if the class does not feel ready. He drops the lowest quiz scores and uses multiple grading schemes so you can get the best grade possible. The only problem is staying awake through his lectures. They're very good if you can pay attention, but he he has kind of a monotone voice and talks to the board a lot. In lab, he's very laid back and lets you cut out early a lot or skip if you're ahead. However, he doesn't check your lab book until like the end so if you tend to procrastinate this can be a problem.

Dr Endres is cool. He likes students who are laid bck and chill. Enjoy his favoritism as he rips into the nerds that plague this major while giving you an unexplainable B+ on mediocre work. Atleast I think this is the case because I did little to no work and pulled off a much better grade than the majority of my classmates. So what if you can't hear him in lecture, he's not saying anything important anyways. Office hours are key and look at the sample problems. I have a really rough time with mechanisms and he isnt too picky.

His lab class is a breeze. Only one quiz (worth less than 5%), lab book, and all your NMR/IR print outs. Dr. Endres is very friendly and always willing to help. Good professor!!

During this entire quarter all I could think about was how this professor reminded me of that small little dog that runs through the back of scene 23 in The Incredibles by Pixar. Seriously, if you look it up you will only be able to see it...
