I found this class to be facinating amoung other things. Mr. E knew how to catch our attention for 1 hour and 59 min. of our 2 hour class (he would always let us out early). I strongly recomend that even if it is not required to take asronomy 102. Not just because it is an interesting subject but because of the way it is taught by Mr. E.

This class was great. I didn't really do anything for it. I did all of the homework like an hour before it was due and bullshitted the entire thing and got all As. I'd study for the quizzes for like 5 minutes and studied maybe an hour for the midterm and the final. Know the answers to the quizzes because he literally uses the same exact question. I have no idea what grade I actually got in the class because I took it credit no credit, but it's definitely and easy A. I would recommend going to class, but thats about it I never read or looked at the lectures or tried.

I liked Eickemeyer, his class was always really interesting and it was really easy to talk to him and seek help. I had never taken physics before and the beginning material was really tough but after that, it was quite easy and I ended up enjoying all of it. If I had worked harder, I could probably have gotten an A. If you're looking for an easy GE that is interesting, take Eickemeyer, you won't regret it!

Dr. Eickemeyer is a great guy, and you can tell he has a love for the subject. He is animated in his lectures and uses many different examples similar to homework. He does move pretty quickly, so you have to be an efficient note taker. His quizes and tests aren't too difficult, but he does challenge you. He doesn't seem as enthusiastic in office hours, but he is there to help.

i had taken physics in high school before, so this class was already pretty easy for me but i think that he presented the material in a good manner. we went through material pretty slow so that was nice for the people that were confused on some topics. homework is due about like every 2 weeks and a quiz when hw is due but the quiz is just one problem from the homework, with the exact numbers and everything so it's really easy. I would recommend going to his office hours because he actually grades the hw, but he has the teacher's edition in his office that he lets you copy if you need it. There's two midterms worth 100 points each consisting of a few free response and a few multiple choice, and a comprehensive final. He's a really sweet guy and isn't boring during his lectures! hopes this helps !!!

Eickemeyer is a really cool guy who knows a lot about Physics. The way his class is structured is there are 2 quizzes (30 points each), 2 midterms(100 points each), 4 homework assignment due on the day of a quiz or a midterm (10 points each), the final (140 points), and lab (60 points). The quizzes are exact homework problems, so as long as you do the homework (which you have to because you need to turn it in along with your quiz) you will be fine. He allows you to use a 3x5 note card with each quiz or midterm and he doesn't collect them with the quiz/exam. I made some stupid mistakes on the two midterms which were detrimental to my grade, but if you attend lecture and take good notes (his notes help a lot with the homework) then you will have an easy time getting an A in his class.

Super good teacher. Funny. Explains the material very well. My only complaint would be that he doesn't answer emails, but that's not that big of a deal. I probably could have gone into his office hours if I REALLY needed to talk to him.

i know eickemeyer has fairly high ratings in general, but for phys 133 he presents the material in a confusing and jumbled manner. you have 2 quizes and 2 midterms and he does give lots of opportunity for EC. during his lectures he whizzes through about 5 different derivations of a couple formulas and never really clarifies what is essential for use in applications and problems. He clearly knows the material very well himself but often will spend the entire 1:20 minute lecture on a couple of complicated derivations without taking a break. Overall, i would try to avoid him for phys 133 due to the way he presents the material, although he seems like a fairly impartial grader

Eickemeyer is a pretty cool guy. He's got fun stories. Dude looks like he's straight out of the 70's, too. But as lecturer for Phys 133, he was all over the place, deriving equations from derived equations without ever really telling us where we're going. His handwriting is pretty terrible too, so I eventually just listened to him without taking notes then reading the book later. He grades SUPER friendly and curves like a mad man, so it's not too hard to pass, just do the homework. The quizzes are based off one problem and the midterms are similar, only with seven more problems. The final is pure multiple choice. He's the nicest physics professor I've had. You should probably take him if you can read the book.

Dr. Eickemeyer is awesome. Funny guy and he teaches really well. If you don't understand something, he's very easy to approach about it and he'll explain it thoroughly to you. His quizzes and tests are fair, and most of the time they'll be really representative of problems you do in class in groups a few days ahead of time, so you can really learn the material with his and your friends' help. Would like to have him for some other class again.

Dr. Eickemeyer is one of the most knowledgeable teachers I've had so far. He has a lecture voice, speaking in a level and clear technique that makes it easier to distinguish what is important and what is not. He writes all of his notes on the board, so you can miss any information. He always gives you opportunities for extra credit at the end of the quarter, and his tests mirror the notes. He is definitely a great teacher.

I really enjoyed this class. He found a way to make astronomy interesting. He lectures and we take motes. There are two midterms and a final. All tests are multiple choice which makes it easier. I think Dr. E is a pretty cool and funny guy. I would reccomend taking this class for your GE science section.

Dr. E knows his geology. He goes to great lengths to make sure you understand the material. He gives thorough lectures in outline form, of which everything shows up on the exams. His multiple choice tests often have many "almost correct" answers but only one right answer. Study your notes carefully. He also raises many interesting theories regarding the Earth's formation, as well as its future.

While his lectures are very boring, he explains the material fairly well and is able to clarify any difficulties.

Fine teacher, but a little dry in the presentation. I wouldnt suggest having her at 8:00 in the morning, might be difficult staying awake.

The class itself was extremely easy with minimal work. My only complaint is that there was no transparency with how assignments were graded and how well people were doing in class. I thought that I was well within the B zone and after grades were published I had a C+. If he had published grades and been more transparent with his expectations I think I would have tried much harder and gotten a better grade.

Eickemeyer is a cool guy with a lot of knowledge, but the structure of the class is not great. Grades are based off of 1 midterm, 1 final, 2 oral presentations, 4 in-class debates, and various in-class assignments. The exams are fairly straightforward (20-30 multiple choice questions and 4-5 short essay questions). However, Eickemeyer does not publish grades, so it's really hard to tell how you're doing in the class. Also, the class goes very in-depth with the chemistry, so if you've never taken a chemistry class like me, that will definitely be somewhat of a challenge. You're able to choose the topics for the oral presentations and what day TL;DR: if you like a class with good structure and transparency, don't take this class. If you haven't taken chemistry, don't take this class. If you don't like oral presentations, don't take this class. Otherwise, it's an interesting subject with a cool guy.

This class is not yet complete but DO NOT TAKE EICKEMEYER FOR ANYTHING. 1) I have no clue what my final grade will be (even roughly) because he refuses to share any info on grades/changed the grading breakdown in WEEK EIGHT. 2) He changed the grading breakdown from participation being worth 40% to 0% in week eight. 3) He listed office hours with no office but would not give us a meeting place when we asked. Aside from that, I had class during both of his times listed but he has refused to work with me in trying to get a meeting. 4) Does not respond to emails in a timely manner, IF AT ALL. 5) Not approachable, goes back on what he says. 6) Gives the same lecture multiple times. 7) Grading is arbitrary and seems to be based on whether or not he likes you (that's just from what he has said in class, grades aren't available anywhere) 8) Assigned paper in week eight and when asked how long it needed to be said "I don't care" There is so much more that could be said. Many students in this class are taking a formal complaint to the head of the department.

Oh my lord DO NOT take this professor. There is no way to track how you are doing in the class aside from asking every time you turn in an assignment about the grade. Also! You can't trust the syllabus, at the end of the quarter he changed the weight of assignments and decided to also include a paper. Furthermore there is no clear expectation of what you will be learning in class. None of the material from the last three weeks of class(which is set to be on the final) is available on polylearn. Half the class is just dumb student lead lectures that may or may not be relevant.
