Chandler is very prepared and actively tries to help her students. She is helpful outside of class on pretty much anything from interviews to test preperation. The group project is the one tough thing. If you get a bad group it can really hurt you. The information covered is not hard, you just have to memorize it.

I feel enlightened.

You should consider yourself blessed if you have the opportunity to take one of Dawns classes. She is the best of the best at Cal Poly. Her class is educational and exciting to attend, and there was not a day where I did not want to go to class. Dawn is the most genuine teacher and brought hope back to the business department. Her class is so much fun that it is very easy to get a great grade because Dawn makes the class worth while. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR and actually enjoy being a business student.

i got a b+ in the class. she lightened the workload from her early classes for this course which was good for us. you work in a group the whole time. tests arent that hard, she tells you what to study. the final project isnt that hard if you divide the project up equally among the members. you get to choose your own project. the class is interesting and you do some fun stuff. shes young and energetic. the only knock is that you have to go to class every time and you dont get out early. you get one absense i think. oh, and 20 percent of your grade is based on participation, but thats a good thing

Dawn was one of the best teachers I've had at Poly so far. She understands the material inside and out, genuinely cares about her students, and was able to make a class that I thought was going to be a waste of time very enjoyable. She is a fair grader and as long as you are not an idiot and put a little effort in you should be fine. I would recommend taking her if at all possible.

Chandler is one of the most passionate teachers I have ever had. This class is demanding in terms of work, and a lot of times it feels like it is busy work, but it is all worth it in the end. Her tests are time consuming to study for, the final took all three hours and was annoying. The project and group work is fun. Your participation grade is nearly as much the mid term and the final put together, so speak up in class for the love of god! dont yawn in class, she hates it. Don't talk when she is talking, hates that too. She is brilliant and because of it, often intense...you are guaranteed to learn a ton. If you put the effort in you will get the grade you deserve! Take her!

This teacher is young, attractive, and a little crazy. In the class she sets you up with five other group members based on a survey you fill out. You then have to come up with a project to do with that group that takes at least seven hours. In my class, a few teams did geo-catching, one did cooking, one constructed a Rube Goldberg machine, and another did weekly exercise routine. Anyways, at the end we had to do a 30 PAGE ESSAY!!! Take a lesson from my group, DO NOT LEAVE IT UNTIL THE LAST WEEK!!!!! Or else you will get super stressed out like we did. A few times she gave groups fifty minutes to make a PowerPoint presentation and then present it to the class on the same day. Apparently, other teachers don’t require this much work though I don’t know his for sure. The lectures were usually kept short and were half-way interesting. Test were challenging though were worth only a small portion of the grade. The reason I call her a little crazy is she types up almost an essay of feedback for each group after each assignment. It’s nice though a little weird if you ask me. While she was nice, offers lots of good life advice, and graded faitly, she just assigned a big workload which is why I wouldn't recommend this teacher.

Chandler is amazing! The best teacher I've had in the school of business thus far. She is well organized, extremely helpful and always available. Shoot her an email and she'll most likely reply within an hour or she gives you her personal phone number to call with urgent questions. She truly cares about her students success and in turn changes your perspective as a student. I had this class on a Friday and cannot believe that I actually wanted to go to class! Everyday was interesting with a new project to work on. You will become very close with your group members throughout the quarter as you work on various small projects and your large final project which you will work on throughout the quarter. My best advice is to think of a creative project that you will all love doing. It doesn't have to be hard! Choose something fun! The tests are very hard, especially the final, but they aren't a big chunk of your grade. Do all of your homework and work hard on your projects and you are guaranteed a B. Dawn still cares how you're doing once you're finished with her class... I still speak with her frequently and visit her in her office hours. Want a teacher that cares? Get on her waitlist and pray you get in!

That's a B+ by the way..anyways Chandler is definitely one of the best professors I've ever had! I had it Friday and actually didn't mind being there (once my hungover self made it). Sometimes I wished she didn't go into so much detail on certain powerpoints, but overall it was actually a pretty fun class. The best part is when you do group stuff. My group all liked each other so everything was fun no matter what. Do something fun for your project, not just something you think she'd be impressed with. Also, the ONLY test you have is a midterm (group presentations on finals day). It's not too bad, but I wasn't specific enough in some of my answers and didn't do as well as I hoped. She gives you a list of what to study and as long as you stick to that you can definitely get an A on it. Chandler is awesome and definitely someone you can talk to again after the class for help with interviews/internships/jobs

Dawn is a total sweetheart, and an intellectual if I've ever met one. She knows more about the dynamics of an organization and how to get ahead in your professional career than anyone on this Earth, and she's more than willing to extend that knowledge to her students. The class itself is almost entirely team based, so hopefully you get placed with people you mesh well with (I personally loved my team), and the project/team paper do take some time, but the experience you get from it is perfect for resumes and life in general. The final is a bit tricky, but if you follow the study guide she gives you to a T, you'll be fine. And the best part: Dawn makes herself available as a resource to all of her students for the rest of their careers here, and she loves people that stop in from time to time to chat. Basically, take Dawn Chandler for 387. You'll learn what you're supposed to from the class and have a resource at your disposal that could help you in more ways than you could know

Professor Chandler is a very well-rounded teacher. Not only does she challenge her students throughout the quarter, she is extremely caring toward her students and is a valuable resource for any student that takes a class with her. She used to be a head-hunter so she knows how we as students can make ourselves better prospective applicants for jobs or internships in the future. She genuinely cares for her students and it is obvious in the way she interacts with the class. She is simply amazing. The class itself as noted before is indeed challenging. Because the class is probably 95% team-based activities, it is extremely challenging in the sense that you will have to effectively cooperate with your team to succeed. Make sure your team gets off to a good start and set team standards high or else your team will have difficulty later on in the quarter. The grade is composed of one final, one group project, one team paper, participation, and other stuff. People keep saying the final is difficult, but as long as you know the material, there should be no surprises on the exam. I expected the final to have been absolutely terrible, but it really was not bad at all. To prepare for the final, know and understand the material on her final study guide and you should do well. Even though the class is heavily team-based, do not think poor team performance will absolutely sink your grade because the class can be greatly affected by individual criteria like participation. In my class, participation was 20% of the grade. 10% from peer evaluations and 10% in class participation (i.e. lectures). Also, don't think this class is BS because it goes way beyond the psychology involved in organizational behavior to tangible and relevant concepts that truly can be imperative to a successful future career. Though the class was hard, I overall enjoyed the way Dawn Chandler shaped the class and all in all, it was a true learning experience.

If you take 387, take the male professor who teaches it. Chandler will overburden your quarter's workload with required readings, and projects. She is unorganized, almost always lets class out late, and does not make sure students are prepared for upcoming assignments. The primary problem with the class is the assignment of teams. If you get on a poorly performing team, you'll do poorly in the class unless you go above and beyond (and as a result your poorly performing teamates do well also). Furthermore, she provides no "authority" to help you through team issues. She simply expects you to solve the problems on your own without the legitimate power to do so. To highlight the postives, you will learn a lot from the case studies and some of the activities. Also, you can expect Chandler to push you in excelling to your highest learning point. With that said, don't take Chandler unless you want to throw your grade to the "luck of the draw" when it comes to your team. Either that, or expect to do 26 pages of writing and editing on your own and study over 30 hours for the final. Finally, if you do take her, keep up on reading, take control of your team early on (and fire individuals who appear lazy), and don't miss any classes! Good luck.

This instructor is very demading. You will be bombarded with enormous amounts of reading and be expected to recall every detail in order to get even a 'C' on the final. Her study guide for the final consist of re-reading every case study, all slides, memorizing every definitition (there are too many to count), reviewing every class discussion, and group interactions. Aside from this if you have a lousy group be prepared to have your grade suffer. She doesn't care if there are issues within the group even if you have followed her protocall and bring it to her attention early on. This was the case for my group, a couple of us brought problems to her attention and she told us it wasn't her job to step in. So, if you have a subpar group expect to do all the work yourself and the rest of your team get the credit for your hard work or get a less than desirable grade. All in all some of the case studies were interesting and insightful. Other than that the class was terrible, she has horrible interpersonal skills, she's unorganized, and very closed minded. So save yourself the trouble and take the other professor.

PDC is an amazing instructor! I cannot believe the other comments that were made about her. This could quite possibly be the best class I have taken at Poly. She is incredibly organized; I was always so impressed with the way the class was so well-planned. I was never confused as to what was due or how she graded because everything is clearly spelled out in the syllabus. She makes all of the activities entertaining and she encourages participation. I loved my team and we hung out a lot together. Get close with your team and participate in class and you'll do well. Take PDC if you get a chance!

Professor Chandler's course is extremely demanding...she assigns a ton of reading that she barely goes over in class but still expects you to understand everything. She gives a detailed syllabus but hardly expands in lecture about the larger group projects and what she expects. She didn't give us back a single paper the whole quarter...going into the final you literally have no clue what your grade is! Her "study guide" for the final is going over every lecture, case study, chapter readings and activity that we did in class...for only about 30 m.c. questions and 2 short essays. Complete BS. You do actually LEARN from her but the class has too much work and is too stressful for what you get out of it in my opinion

Dr. Chandler is one of the most useless teachers at Cal Poly. Her class is excessively demanding and her content equally useless. You won't learn anything and you'll still do a poor job because she NEVER returns assignments in a timely maner. You should avoid Chandler at all costs.

During this entire quarter all I could think about was how this professor reminded me of that small little dog that runs through the back of scene 23 in The Incredibles by Pixar. Seriously, if you look it up you will only be able to see it...

Dawn Chandler is as hot as she is professional, and it seems that she got hotter as the class went on. Now that I got that out of the way, this has been my favorite class at Cal Poly without a doubt. This is the only class where I actually wanted to do the reading and would go out of my way to prepare really well for each negotiation. The negotiations are equal parts fun and educational, and I felt that I learned something new every time I went to class. No quizzes, midterms, or finals, just three 2 page negotiation analysis papers, an initial goal statement (what you want to learn from the class) and a final paper about 4 pages in length. Attendance is huge, skipping one class results in a 5% mark down, so show up. Participation is huge, ask questions, share your experiences and bring up topics from the book (not a lot of people read it) and you\'ll most likely get an A. This is also a perfect elective for non BUS majors. Enjoy

One of the best teachers I have ever had...LOVED her. Had her for BUS 387 as well. She knows her stuff! I didn't need this class for my concentration, but wanted to take it just because she is such a great teacher...and I definitely learned a lot. DO THE READINGS. You will benefit so much more from the class if you do.
