Cooper, Susan  

Susan is new to Poly ( as of fall 06) so not many people know who she is but she is, but would fully recomend her to anyone looking into a class that she teaches. She clearly explains material and biggest goal is that you understand and enjoy the subject. I have never had a professor who has tried so hard and been so sincere about everyone in her class passing. She will go way beyond her obligated office hours to make sure that everyone can get the help they need. Plus shes always ina good mood, and since math generally puts everyone in a bad mood it makes a big difference.

She is very helpful in office hours and actually trys to make the class a bit of fun. I got a C because I bombed the second midterm (was too busy with other classes) after getting a 98 on the first test. The only problem was that she went much too fast through lectures, she covered all the proofs in detail, which is something I haven't seen any other math professor do. Most of them just explain the basics and get you to understand how to do the math, which is what is really required in these classes. It wasn't a very hard class for me since I had taken AP calculus and knew a lot of the material already, but her speed was a problem with other students who were so busy trying to keep up with note taking that they didn't understand anything after class was over. Overall if you don't suck at math, you'll do fine in her class, but if you need time to absorb the material, she wouldn't be a good choice, unless you want to always be in office hours.

If there was something above an A, I'd give it to her. This professor is awesome. She makes class fun, and understandable. She plays games that actually make it easier to get the material and some she does for fun. My grade came from my crappy memorization and I couldn't remember integrals at all. But she grade HOMEWORK, WEEKLY QUIZZES, 2 MIDTERMS, and the FINAL. She usually puts 2 HW questions on the quizzes and if you did your HW you should be fine. Midterms and Finals consisted of like 5 question with 5 parts or more. So average of 10-15 questions. But it's usually integrate this... so she builds it up. The End-Game question are worth a lot, those require mixing different topics. So study and it should sail well. AWESOME PROFESSOR....

Dr. Cooper is probably one of the most helpful teachers I have had so far. She puts a lot of effort into the class and will devote a lot of time to meet students needs. She comes to class everyday with excitement about math which seems hard enough by itself. The class is not hard to pass. DO THE HOMEWORK and you are almost guaranteed a good grade. Quizzes are usually just 2 questions from the homework and there aren't any surprises on the midterms/final if you have kept up with the material.

Dr. Cooper is a really great teacher. She really helps you understand the material. Which is great for math majors. But she is really hard. Her tests were impossible. The average on our first test was a 50%, no curve. I pulled off an A-, but I have never worked harder for it. One of the hardest classes I have ever taken

I had Cooper for 142 last year. She's alright during lecture and very helpful during office hours. 142 is one of the harder calc classes but she's a fair tester/grader if that's what you're worried about. Yes averages can get quite low and nothing is curved, but I can easily imagine other profs giving much tougher exams. Cooper actually provides study guides before each test but to be honest the integrals you're tested on are usually easier. The midterms as usual are a crunch on time but everyone had time to spare on the final (I believe it was designed to take 2hrs; class was given 3). Oh, make sure you have a good grip on your algebra skills before diving into calc II because you will need them for the exams.

Professor Cooper is an overall excellent professor. She's the best professor I've had at Poly thus far. I took her for MATH 141, 142, and 143. Her exams can be difficult, but she does a good job at preparing you for them. She makes time for her students, she has generous office hours or will make time for you if your schedule does not permit. On the night before the final exam she stayed up answering questions via email. She is very dedicated and you will not regret taking her class.

This professor was not helpful at all. The whole class was having trouble in this class, not just me. She assigned way too much homework, and almost nobody could finish despite hours upon hours working on it. She goes way to fast in class, and while she does proofs, she keeps saying, "this parts easy, so you can fill in the blanks." But it's not, and then you aren't able to understand. I will never take a class from her again.

Dr. Cooper is awesome when it come to linear algebra. I had her for all three linear algebra classes. She has a way of always making the class interesting and fun; she's just a really good lecturer. Also, without her, my proofs would still be sloppy and hard to read. She's a tough grader but she tells you what you did wrong and how to improve if you're willing to go to office hours; that's how I got better at proofs. Oh, and be prepared for proofs. Dr. Cooper absolutely loves proofs.

Fuck this guy. Id like to stick my tounge up his ass.
