This class really isn't that hard. He just got out of the industry so he usually uses practical examples. It's not hard to get an A on his midterms without much work. He goes over the homework in class in case you couldn't do some. Take him if possible

He is a very good teacher and explains clear, real-life examples to students. He might grade a bit harsh at first, but once you get the material, you'll be fine.

Mr. Daniel Franchi is one of the best instructors in the IME department. His knowledge of Economics and application of Engineering Economics concepts is profound and very clear. Given that the material is very easy, he even makes it easier. It is essential to just write notes clearly, for more of the answers to midterm, and final, are from the notes. Project is very simple, yet tedious due to its lengthy procedure in formulating the case. All in all however, he is extremely helpful, encouraging, and supportive.

Dan is one of the best teacher's that I ever took here at Calpoly. His tests are straight forward (Class AVG: 87%). He genuinely cares about his students and will try his best to accomodate his students as much as he can. He's really knowledgeable and is a great mentor for students going off into industry to help prepare their portfolios, IRA, and other finances. Take him at all costs!

Franchi is honestly one of the best teachers I've ever had. His class was not only easy to follow and do well in, but very interesting and useful. He cares about his students and wants all of them to do well. He teaches you things you really will use. Tests are really easy if you understand the homework, which is not bad at all. He lets you use a cheat sheet and your book during tests as well. Project was a little time consuming, but probably the most useful project I've ever done. I strongly recommend him, and wish he taught more.

Possibly the most USEFULL class I have taken at Cal Poly. Franchi likes to talk about himself, but pay attention because he knows a lot. He has tons of personal experience. It is always nice to have a professor who is still grounded with the industry. There is a large project but it is broken into manageable sections. If you don’t know how to use Excel, you will by the end of the quarter. Excel makes the homework exceptionally easy. Do ALL the homework! I ended up with a B+ because I only turned in half of the homework. If you do well the on the two midterms, you wont have to take the final, so study up. ALSO, this class is very useful for the EIT (now the FE).

Franchi is one of the best professors I've had at Cal Poly and I would definitely recommend taking 314 (or any other class) with him. All his quizzes and the final are open note and open book, so you just have to have a fundamental understanding of the material to do well on them. He also has tons of industry experience and makes sure to provide examples of how the concepts we learn in class work in the real world. He doesn't try to make the course any more difficult for the students than it needs to be, but it still is a very instructive course and I felt like I got a lot out of it. Definitely is a good guy and a good teacher.

Best teacher bar none. Makes everything so simple. Do your homework and you will ace the tests, plus homework is a huge percentage of your grade. Projects are useful and appropriately challenging. Honestly this guy could teach Chinese and he\'d probably be great at it. Take him for as many classes as you can.
