This prof apparently works part time. His lectures are good but he requires a lot of work in the class. I got a B+ and I completed every reading assignment on time. I worked my butt off and still got a B. Overall a class with this prof is hard to get an A.

Very interesting teaching style concerning this class. Seems like he should have taught a philosophy class instead. Yes, you have to work your butt off just to recieve a decent grade and there are other business law professors out there that will award you for you work in a 200 level course a lot better than this guy.

This guy is the WORST teacher I've ever had. He explains things in jibberish and answers questions with questions. He is a philosophy professor trapped in a business law professor's body. It's unfortunate because, otherwise, business law would have been very interesting. Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT take this guy. If you accidently do, just turn around and run as far from the classroom as possible.

This professor is hoplessly trapped in the Twilight Zone. I worked very hard in this class only to get an average grade. I spent a lot of time in office hours with him, but got little in return. He refuses to answer questions for you, and you can't carry on a normal conversation with the guy. He is so far out there with all of his philosophy stuff that the business law part gets lost in a foggy haze of confusion. Furthermore, he doesn't return your work in a timely manner so that you know where you stand in the class. Last but NOT least, he has the most subjective grading system I've ever seen. For example, this is a description for your quarter long report. "Find five law articles on the internet, and using only one page, do something creative." That is it! I asked him how he was going to grade the assignment and he said, "I'm going to take everyone's paper and assign the highest grades to the most creative papers." How can you judge creativity without being subjective? I've spent five years at this university, and he was by far the worst professor I've ever had.

Dr. Dempsey knows quite a bit about law, but sometimes goes off on philosophical and ethical tangents. He makes a big deal about teaching ethics, but can't give a clear answer when I question him about it. He also makes you right a short paper on ethics as part of your final. His grading is fairly clear, except the ethics paper and the Wall Street Journal article project are very subjective. You have to read your book very intenstly before class, because he gives unanounced quizes. He'll even quiz you on the cases discussed in each chapter, so be sure to know them by name and know the important facts. I worked hard to get a B+. I would suggest taking an easier teacher.

This professor was very unorganized and had a very unclear grading policy. He changed class formats at least 3 times through out the quater telling us he was going to drop the lowest 2 scores, then the lowest 1 then no scores....etc. He was not prepared for class, ever. Overall i think he is the worst teacher i have had at Cal Poly

Dempsey is not hard at all. If you go to class every day you should do fine. He never gives homework and your grade is based 40% midterm and 60% final. you can chose to have the final 100% of your grade. Oh ya he give a lot of extra credit, and he curves the test. and on the final you get to use all the notes you want!

Took this class 2 years ago. I really liked the material of the class. I would have been more interested in the class if I had not had Dempsey. He was VERY unorganized and would tell the class one thing one day and the next day something completely different for the first. He is one of the worst teachers I have had in my college career.

Fuck this guy. Id like to stick my tounge up his ass.
