Professor Daly is an excellent teacher. He made learning about statistics easy and interesting. He doesn't give homework, only mini-projects, but as long as you do them you'll do fine. He also gives mini-quizzes once or twice a week that are about what he just went over in class, so I suggest going to class. The midterms and final are exactly what he teaches and they are very fair.

Dr. Daly is a very fair and friendly professor who presents material in an easy-to-understand manner. Even though this was a lower-level stat class, I never found him to be condescending or rude. His midterms and final, while very comprehensive, are fair and appropriate to the material presented.

I loved Prof. Daly's class! Having it at 9 am is bit difficult especially during some non-interesting parts of lectures. But I enjoyed the class and he is a very helpful and nice man. His notes are very clear and is open to answer any questions students may have. He also goes over the tests and explains some common mistakes that were made. Overall, I would recommend Daly for STAT 217.

I really enjoyed this class although it was difficult at some point in the quarter. I was very inspired by Professor Daly's class and I am now interested in taking a future Stats class. Although my grade was not great, but I sure learned a lot from that class. Professor Daly is a very fair grader. His lectures are clear and to the point. Going into his office hours was really helpful and he would be willing to help. Try to take Daly for Stats 221.

Daly is probably the best teacher I've had at Poly so far. He may not be the easiet, but you leave that class with a lot of knowledge on statistics. His lecturing style is straight-forward and he clearly answering any and all questions you have. I strongly recommend that you visit him in his office hours, because he is a great guy and is more than willing to help you out one-on-one. He has quizzes every week or so, and you get to use a sheet of notes on each of his three midterms (and 3 sheets of notes on the final). Be prepared to take good notes and study for the tests. His test reviews are perfect guidelines. Daly doesn't make you turn in the homework assignments, but make sure you look over the problems to make sure you know how to do them.

Dr. Daly is a great professor. Unlike a lot of professors, he listens to you when you have a problem with the course material. He is very good at presenting the material clearly and does his best to make himself available to his students in office hours and things like that. I would highly recommend Dr. Daly to anyone who is looking to take STAT 251 and/or 252.

In general I found the class to be interesting, because of the teacher. Overall I would say it was a good class, but it was not without its flaws. I found him to be a very nice man who is willing to help you if you go to him. He also conveys material clearly. However, I found that my grade did not really show the effort I put in, or how well I understood the material. I found his tests to be challenging which is good, but not very cut and dry. It is possible to ace the quizzes and practice tests and barely pass an exam. Despite that, it is still a good class if you are willing to work.

Dr. Daly is a great teacher who clearly explains everything and is a very fair grader. He doesn't collect homework, but offers help and suggested problems if it is needed. I found his class challenging but not impossible. He tests on what is covered in class, and you won't need to learn anything from the book.

GREAT TEACHER!!!!! Knows who students are and presented information very clear. Tests/Quizes are fair and nothing impossible. I started out thinking I was not going to pass the class and ended up getting a B!!!! If you are one who always struggles in math class, take him. Of course, it isn't an easy subject that comes right away, work is required. But overall great guy.

Dr. Daly was by far my favorite teacher this quarter. I am even willing to wait till Spring quarter to take STAT 252 because I want to make sure I get him as a prof. He remembers everyone's names like the second week of class and, although I never went to them, I heard he is really helpful during office hours. His class notes spiral-bound book is full of example problems that he goes over in class. His lectures are easy to understand and somewhat funny at times, especially when he breaks the chalk. It's quite true that it's possible to ace his quizzes and get a B or C on the midterms....however it's possible to get an A on them, too. I didn't study much for the midterms and got Bs and Cs, but I studied my arse off for the final and it wasn't too bad at all.

Dr. Daly teaches this class very well. He prsents the material in every lecture very clearly and he covers a lot of his own examples in class which tend to be harder than the book so that is good practice. His tests are almost exactly like the practice tests. There are 20 pt. quizzes (do the homework and you'll be fine) about once a week and mini quizzes which only help your grade. Keep up on the homework and come to class and you should do well in the class. I recommend Daly to anyone who wants a sturdy foundation in stats. He is also a very nice guy which makes the class better than most other stats classes.

Dr. Daly was a great professor. His lectures were always clear, and he was able to explain things very clearly. The tests were not extremely easy, but very do-able if you study. In our class, 251, there was no homework, and a quiz maybe once per week, which were not that hard. I would recomend him to anyone, a great teacher.

Dr. Daly knows his stuff. He presents everything clearly and always makes sure everyone in class is up to speed. His tests are fair, sometimes much more difficult than anything gone over in class, but from what I see, that's just how math tests work. He can be quite funny and is just an all-around nice guy. I liked him so much that I'm taking him again for STAT 252.

good teacher. So close to getting an A! his testsare all blue book, and have only 6 problems with 1-3 parts each, so if you mess up once, its hard to get an A. He has 3 tests, then cum. final, and lots of quizes. almost every thurs he would have a quiz, or a mini quiz, which is just free points for showing up to class- you can talk to your neighbors about answers. Not an easy teacher, or an easy subject, but i hear he's the best compared to the other stat teachers! try to take the SI class, it's helpful and forces you to study! I would recommend daily! im taking him again for 252!

Dr. Daly was not the most exciting prof but he presented everything well. His tests were very straight foward and you get a page of formulas for every midterm and 3 for the final. I liked Dr. Daly and would take his class again, but I would probably take the SI along with it because that helped a ton too.

Dr Daly isnt a bad teacher, but isnt the greatest either. He is kind of boring, I would always feel tired after I left his class. Most of the time he explains things pretty well, but sometimes he will say one thing and write something else on the board. He asigns homework but doesnt collect it so it was hard for me to be motivated to do it. His tests are harder than the homework,so make sure you understand the book really well before midterms. Overall, I would say I got a pretty good base to go into 252.

Honestly, Dr. Daly is an awesome teacher! He reminds me of a grandfather that just wants you to understand the information he teaches. There isn't any homework, but he does give mini quizes that are unannounced, there are a few real quizes but nothing too difficult. The tests are a lot like the sample test he gives so if you go to class everyday and actively pay attention you should be fine.

Dr. Daly is such a dedicated and caring professor! I took him for 251 and I have him for 252 right now. He has weekly quizzes (usually), 3 midterms, and a cumulative final. For midterms, you get to use a note/formula sheet (8.5 x 11 piece of paper) front and back, but it can't be typed. You can fit so much information onto them! You get to use 3 note sheets front and back on the final too! The midterms are somewhat difficult but if you study and know the material well, they are very fair. He is also very, very helpful if you go into office hours, and he will clarify anything you do not understand from lecture. Dr. Daly is very approachable and just a good guy!!!

He is a very nice, laid back professor, and very approachable. I would recommend taking the SI class along with this course. It saved my life. No need to do the homework.. but definately go to class everyday.

Dr. Daly is a very good teacher. I will be honest, he seems a little unwelcoming at first, but if you go to his office hours and talk with him, he is a very nice and good person. His three midterms were very fair, and so was his grading. He curves the final grade some. I would recommend the SI class. I didn't take it, but it would have been useful. I am taking him for 252 and would recommend him.

daly is pretty amazing. probably my favorite professor at cal poly so far! teaching math is always hard but this guy knows how to do it and do it well. his tests are reasonable and i feel like ive learned a lot from him. he is a very good guy who cares about his students... TAKE HIM! if he was teaching 252 next quarter iw ould have taken him for sure.

This course was hard, but it was also interesting. Dr. Daley is able to answer questions easily, and makes himself available for students' questions. The workload is moderate, and the required text is a bit unclear at times, but Dr. Daley is more than able to clear up any questions that arise. I would definitely recommend him to any future Stats students.

Daly explains the material very well and is always willing to help you with any questions you have. The homework is optional and the tests are not tricky at all. This class was worth waking up at 8 am for everyday.

I took Dr. Daly on the recommendation of a friend. And I now recommend him to everybody. He is hard. Let me get that out first. But it was worth it. I wanted to learn. I wanted to ask questions. He was always easy to approach even with the dumbest questions! His tests sometimes are too long, but he does curve. Take Dr. Daly for whatever STAT class you have. You may work hard but you will get so much more out of the class in the end. And afterall, that's why we are here: to learn!

Dr. Daly prosented the material very well. This is the second time I took him for STAT 252, the first time, i didnt do any work, hardly showed up, didnt study and got a D. I did more work this quarter, and went to his office hours for help and ended up with a B+. I suggest if you dont mind taking STAT at 8 or 9, take Dr. Daly.

He is very knowledgable in his area and is always available at his office hours. He also is very helpful one-on-one, but intimidating because he is so knowledgable. Overall, just make sure you keep up to date and know one thing thorouhgly before you proceed to the next or else you'll be completely lost. The different topics of study go by very quickly so be prepared.

Dr. Daly is really the one of the greatest teachers i've had at cal poly.. he notices student difficulties ad is somewhat of a jolly old man. i've had him for 251 and 252 and have heard the horror stores about some of the stats teachers... (like smith..) but dr. daly really makes the class go by fast, and he's the nicest man you'll ever meet! we havent taken out final yet, but even if i fail it, i should be getting a b.. if you can, i really recomment Dr. Daly!

Is Daly a good statistics teacher? Yes he is. However you had better be able to work your butt off in this class. If you approach it with a lazy attitude you will not pass. Before the final we had 15 people with Fs, Ds and very low Cs. If statistics is important to you then this is the guy. If your like me and just taking this class because you have to i recommend someone else. His tests are fair but his idea of partial credit is different from mine. There are a lot of good reviews on him because all of these people took the time to do well. I am honest to god talking about around 4 to 5 hours a week unless you are some kind of stat genius. And since there was only 1 A in my class id say those are few and far between. Bottom line is this....if you want to learn a lot and study until you cant see straight take Daly. If not then find someone easier.

Professor Daly is a definite must have! I had him for Stat 251 and 252 and I highly recommend taking him. He knows how to present the material very well~ I understood it and I'm horrible at math! As long as you go to class everyday, study for tests and quizzes, and do the homework you'll be fine. He's also very helpful at office hours and answers all questions you could possibly have. His class is based on three midterms (you get one full page of notes), quizzes, and mini-quizzes which are short in class assigments where you can use notes and work with a partner. I wish he taught my other classes!

I took him for Stat 251 as well, and again he did an excellent job of making the confusing subject understandable. The required course booklet that has notes for each chapter is the main thing you will use for the course, and make sure to take good notes of what he goes over in class. The tests are not simple, but if you study (and make good use of the PAGE of notes he allows) they aren't impossible. The problems and content of the course booklet with notes in it is what you should study the most. There are only suggested problems to do out of the textbook, but you don't have to turn them in. He is very helpfull in office hours and available more than most teachers are. The final is not as hard as usual math/stat finals are, and you get to use three pages of double sided notes, so make sure to take advantage of those. OVERALL A REALLY GOOD TEACHER, TRY TO TAKE HIM!!!!

Do not fall behind in this class. I did and it was hard. Also do not take this with CPE 101. It is impossible. Stats is not at all like math, so don't think you can do it. Also take the SI class to help you with the material. It will help. Daly is a pretty good teacher, but kind of boring. Also the three midterms are hard and you don't have enough time. The final is the easiest test because you have the time.

Proffessor is daly is a very good proffessor, but the class is still very difficult. maybe part of the difficulties i had were because the class was at 8am 5 days a week. He is very helpful at office hours, although they will be crowded, especialy the week of tests or projects. We had 3 exams plus the final, and 2, 40 pt projects. Attendance is very important becuase he gives "miniquizes" randomly but frequently. These are basically free points for going to class. He doesnt collect hw, but do it otherwise you wont have a clue. His tests are very difficult and long, but he gives a lot of partial credit. Overall Daly is a very good proffessor, the material is just hard.

Definately do the homework in this class. Daly provides you with all the information you need to know to do well on the homework, quizzes and midterms. He allows you to use an 8 and a half by 11 sheet front and back for notes for all the tests and 3 sheets for the final. His midterms are long, but not impossible. I got a C- in STAT 251 and I took it two years ago, but Daly does a great job of focusing on 252 material and backtracking and teaching any material you needed to remember from 251. He doesn't expect you to remember everthing from 251. He's great.

Professor Daly was a GREAT teacher! He presented the material clearly, and made it easy to follow along in class. This class, however, is not an easy class (If you want a good grade, you have to work at it!). Things that helped me: go to every single class, do your homework (even though he doesn't collect it), and do the practice exams (his questions on the test are similar to the practice exam questions). He curves the final grade (which helps a lot). I am really glad I had Prof.Daly as my teacher-he made Stats interesting and fun to go to every day!

Daly was a great professor. Its a good idea to always attend classes bc he gives mini quizes and these are by suprise rest asure they are pretty easy and you get to work with a partner. These help your grade too. His tests are on the difficult side but he gives you a practice test for each one. Make sure you do them. The final though is so hard and long. The good thing is that he is always willing to help you.

Nice teacher, BUT he cannot present the material. I struggled in his class because he throws a lot of useless information at the class. He would say "you won't need to know this" or "we won't be using this" and then would proceed to spend 1/2 hour explaining it and why we don't need to know it. In my last STAT class, I had the highest grade in the class, and now I will be lucky to pull a C-. Studying from the book and his practice tests help. Also it is a good idea to have Minitab available to you on a computer so you can fiddle around with it to make sure you have a full understanding of the software. He is not a bad teacher, but you just have to be prepared to teach yourself.

I'm sorry all you pathetic Daly supporting losers, but you are dead wrong. This guy made Stats lame. The lectures were boring. The notes were to fast, and he blocked his own writing with his hairy left hand. He didn't go over the homework problems. Test were hard. I love math, but I hated this class. I ended up getting a "B" only because I am good at math(I actually aced Stat 251 with Carlton) and I realized the key to success in Daly's class--Burn your math book, and study his course book in every waking moment. Here are few hints if you DO take his class 5 keys to passing: 1) Don't do the home work--it is a waste of time 2) Join an SI class, maybe two of them 3) Study in groups--He doesn't teach the material so it would be in your best interest to get with someone that can. 4) DO THE PRACTICE TEST!!! They will save your life and your grade, probably the only thing I actually liked about Daly 5) Sit next to someone smart, all the quizzes are with a partner (a friend of mine passed the class simply because he got an "A" on all of his quizes, courtesy of a smart girl next to him)

I took some time to chill before I wrote this. About the only good thing I can say is that Daly is better than Kent Smith...and that's a sad statement. Daly (and Smith, and I don't know who else) should either WRITE THE DAMN BOOK, or SHUT THE HELL UP and use the book they make you buy. The problem is that you basically have to learn two classes at once, the text book (which isn't that bad, and the problems are 90% easier than anything this guy will throw at you), and the PATHETIC workbook that he wants to base all his lectures on and thinks is helpful. It's poorly written, badly organized, missing critical data, and he jumps all around so you don't even know what he's talking about applies to...it was the most aggravating class I've ever taken. I threw 82 hours of homework at this class over the quarter (7.45/week), and still only landed only a mid C. He makes his tests so they draw blood, I kid you not, there is absolutely no cause for the micro detail he expects you to know...the text doesn't even get close to the hostility he puts on his exam. One the first test, out of 45 students he had 0 (0! mind you) with 90% or above...the second test there was 1 with 90% or above. He won't even throw you a bone. On "review day" he'll just stares at the class and dismisses you if nobody brought questions. That would be a fine approach but everybody is so damn lost that they don't even know where to begin, and so he won't even have the mercy to say: "You know, I've seen that most of the time students get stuck on 'X,' let's look at an example." Daly is a good guy. He teaches the information in a very organized manner and never stops going. Don't be scared away by being taught on computer screens, even though that does suck. Daly walks you through the info and his study guides are almost identical to the exams. One thing that stands out about this professor is that he is extremely caring about his students and very helpful in office hours. He even remembers almost everyone's name by the end of the quarter. He is just a kind and gentle old man who will understand if you have a problem with school or out of school. I would recommend anyone to take Daly, he is a good teacher.

Ok I love math, and I aced the first half of stats.. but this guy royally sucked. The homework from the book is useless and will be nothing like what you see on the test.. and the handbook he gives you is useless and unorganized.

Dr. Daly is a very good professor. Even though the material is difficult, I really enjoyed his class. He does a thorough job of presenting the material. Make sure you take this course when you have an easier quarter because at 5 units, this class is pretty time consuming. You'll have homework every night. You don't turn in the homework, but it's essential to understanding the concepts he goes over in class. The tests were fairly difficult. Make sure you study all of your notes. The textbook is virtually useless except for the homework. His workbook was really great. The workbook has practice tests which are really helpful before the mid-term. He will always post the solutions to the practice test on the bulletin board in the Stats office. I wish he just posted them online so I didn't have to copy them down by hand, but oh well. Be sure you check his site often. He will often change the homework assignments, and he posts the changes on the site. He was relatively helpful during office hours. I recommend him for Stats.

very nice guy, but the class is hard. his book is great because it walks you through everything. 48% of the class are midterms, 30% is assignments and quizzes, and 20% is the final. you will have about 2 quizzes a week. sit next to someone smart because you can take them with a partner (which really helps your grade). there are four assignments and make sure you do them (easy points). the final takes almost the whole 3 hours which is horrible, so be prepared. he teaches by computer screen which sucks at first but you get use to it. the only problem i have with him is that he posts the answers to his practice tests in a case outside his office. dude, it sucks copying down 2 pages while there are like 10 people around you. he doesn't curve, but the curve is DO WELL ON THE ASSIGNMENTS AND QUIZZES; that is what saves you. make sure you study the PRACTICE TESTS and his lecture notes because the textbook is absolutely useless. you will have to learn a statistical program but don't worry because he walks you right through it. i would reccomend him to anyone.

After reading the reviews for Daly I was a little worried about taking him for this class. He's a really good professor though. He's stuck teaching a really difficult class but he does his best to explain it to you. He's always available during office hours and is willing to meet whenever you need him - even weekends! The textbook is useless, but his workbook is priceless. Use the library edition to do homework out of the text - don't waste your money on the actual book. Mini quizzes and homework are the key to a good grade so show up and do them and you'll do pretty well in the class. The three tests aren't that difficult because of the practice exams, but don't front on the final- it's wicked hard. Overall, I would recommend this instructor to anyone who has to take this class.

Professor Daly is a very nice man, and he is willing to help you if you're willing to ask for it, and do the work. This class is a lot of work, and if you're terrible at statistics and barely passed the first one, get a tutor right away! I paid a tutor all quarter and that's the only reason I passed the class. Otherwise, the workload's really heavy. Daly goes extremely fast because there's a lot of material to cover, but be prepared to take notes at lightning fast speed, cause he flips those pages of the course book a mile a minute. Other than that, he's a good prof, but like all those profs who have been teaching in their field for a long period of time, he forgets that he's gotta explain EVERYTHING in detail, because people not in statistics wouldn't know a thing about how to do anything. He tends to leave some important details out of his lectures, that's where my tutor came in.

Daly is a good teacher....he clearly presents everything although he does go through some stuff pretty fast. The nice thing is he gives you quizes and assignment so that helps if you dont do well on the midterms. With the midterms, do all the practice midterms in the back of his book. They helped me a lot to get the grade i did. I would recommend Daly.

good teacher, i had him for 251 and 252. Keep up with your work, it is VERY easy to fall behind! If i kept up and did the practice tests he gives you, i could of gotten an A, so do the practice mid terms and go to his office hours if you have questions! if not, you'll kick yourself in the butt later, cause its not as hard as you think if you pay attention in class! it was just hard to stay away for a morning class, but taking it with daly was worth it.

DR.Daly is too old to teach this class,and his monotone voice does not help. He makes it way too easy to fall behind. And he tests on material that was taught the day before. Impossible to understand him, and he assumes everyone does. His age is wearing on him. Makes it harder than it should be.

Daly is anything but interesting. He basically reads his useless and unorganized course booklet word for word. (It seems like there is no reason to even go to class because of this) He tests on material that is not on the practice test. Overall poor professor.

Mr. Daly was a very, very nice teacher. His class was extremely tough and I often felt as it took me over 3 hours of alone-studying to get what he had explained in 50 minutes. I got an A, but I studied stats all of the time and I went to his office hours AT LEAST once a week. (He was always glad to help.) I felt the quizzes, midterms and final were fair ... the problem with this class was that the material was hard to understand and that the teacher went way too fast during class, so ... you had to figure out a lot of staff on your own.

I seriously didn't like him at first. I was prepared for a boring class at the beginning but my thinking changes as the course proceed. I started to understand the way he lectures. His tests are fairly easy. Eventhough the final was curmilative, it wasn't that bad at all, he tried to make it easy i think. Make sure you go to class, study. As long as you get the concept, you should be fine!!!

This class is not difficult if you do things right. Easier than 251, hands down. The old tests are so similar to the exams he gives that if you can memorize the practice ones you should get at least a B on the midterms. The workshop really helps too, if you can get in. Straight-forward class, not difficult. Daly is approachable and organized.

Daly is very knowledgable! almost too knowledgable because expects you to already know alot of stats going into 252. However, Daly presents the notes very clearly and is organized. The material itself is pretty difficult, Daly will answer alot of your questions after class or in his office hours. There were like 4 assignments to turn in 3 of them were on MINITAB and there are like 3 or 4 quizes which arent too hard if your prepared and he has 3 midterms and a final, the tests are tricky he picks the hardest questions to put on the test so if you do take him allow yourself a few days to study because he gives you a copy of all the tests from the previous quarter, take advantage of that and ask him questions. Overall Daly is a good teacher I've heard some other stats teachers are more straight foward and a little bit easier but Daly is not horrible

He was a little boring sometimes but if you pay attention in class, you barely have to put in work. Then again, I'm an engineer so it was easy for me. He has 3 midterms, a final, and a few quizzes. They usually have supplemental workshops for his class too if you need help. Not the worst instructor but there may be better out there. If you end up with him there's not much reason to complain.

Daly is a really nice professor. His lecture notes make life a lot easier and he was helpful during office hours.

If I didnt have to wake up at the butt crack of dawn I probably would have gotten an A I would say that the hardest part of the class was getting up early and paying attention at 8am. He is very thorough in his explainations. I would reccomend him exspecially if you want to be a stat minor.

Outstanding professor. Difficult class. He come highly recommended, even considering I pulled a mere C. I worked my ass off for the C, I think that when it comes to stats, you either have the natural ability to take in the subject, or you don't. For me and a few other people, we faught our way to get the menial grades we got, for others (the smart ones who backed up quarter-to-quarter their 252 class with their 251) it wasn't so bad. There were a lot of B's (like, 60 percent of the class pulled a B) then a bunch of A's (probably around 8 percent of the class pulled an A). Again, don't judge this class by my C, you'll probably do better. WORK: 4 home assignments (3-4 hours a piece) 5 miniquizs (pop quizes) 4 big quizes, 3 Midterms, 1 Cumulative final. He's a tough grader, but genuinely cares about what you're learning.

Take this professor! he is amazing. He requires you to purchase a book of his notes, but it is cheap and well worth the money. You will use it every day of class and it is very instructional, i barely used my textbook except for a few homeworks given. He gives around 4 homework assignment a quarter. There are miniquizes and quizzes that help give you a few points towards your grade. He also gives you old exams which are almost replicates of your exams. It doesn't take much to do well, just pay attention and ask questions if you dont understand.

i hate stats. i hate how this class is five days a week. however, i had to take it for my major. if you have to take it, take daly. he's a good teacher, and is there if you need help if your lost about anything. nobody went to his office hours this year he said. if i think about it, i should have gone to them when i was confused. maybe i would have gotten an A instead of B. but im lazy at times. if you REALLY want to get a good grade, and you work your butt of, you can do it. i worked my butt off, but didn't do absolutely EVERYTHING i could of. there are three midterms, and a final. there were quizzes and miniquizzes too. one thing that sucked about this class big time is the fact that we had either a quiz or a miniquiz almost every friday. stats in general sucks, but daly makes it the most "fun" it can possibly be. definately better than my stats teacher first quarter

referring to the fifth year senior who got a C a couple evaluations down... homework assignments DEFINITELY dont take 3-4 hours...2 hours MAX and thats pushing it. miniquizzes (or popquizes) are only 4 points...so there not THAT big of a deal...can add up eventually but are super easy if you understand the concept of what it is on. same with quizzes, the whole quiz will be on one concept, and if you study for like 15-20 minutes the night before you will ace it. he is a tough grader, can be very picky. so know EXACTLY how to do everything the way HE wants. take daly, he wants you to do well in his class

Great teacher. You have to study, but you are allowed formula sheets, which helps you study. Do the practice tests her gives, and go to class everyday, even though it is 5 days a week - if you don't, you will fall behind. The quizzes aren't too bad, 20 points each, and the little quizzes every now and then, but those are with a partner, which makes them ok. Stats isn't going to be a really exciting subject, but he knows what he is talking about and his course book helps a lot to take the class and have things organized.

Daly was a great teacher. I had Kolesnik for 251 and didn't learn a THING in that class. However, I was still able to understand stats because Daly did such a good job explaining. For tests, just make sure you can do those practice ones in the back and those additional problems that he tells you to do in some chapters in his notes workbook. If you can do those practice ones well I don't see how you can do badly on the real ones.

Clearly explains the material and does not assign pointless homework. I had this class 8 am every day and was still able to listen to the material and do ok. He wants to help and is a great teacher.

This class is pretty tough, I'm not a big STATS person but I think Daly does a good job trying to explain the material. He is really good at office hours, always willing to help and he learns everyone's names really fast. Nice guy, tough midterms but you should take him anyways. Gemma

Daly teaches you STAT. He always likes students in his office hours. You will have todo the HW, and study, but I learned way more than I thought. He does give random quizes so you have to go to class. Class time is useful and fun. Very nice guy! he has been teaching for more than 30years. This is one old guy that still knows how to teach! Great teacher!

Ahh! I was so closed to an A in this class! But it was my fault that I got a B+ instead. Daly is a pretty good teacher. He is very helpful and aware of student needs. My advice to succeed in this class is to attend lecture regularly and keep up with the homework(not collected). Depending exclusivley on the book will not be enough to do well in this class. There are three mid-terms and one cumulative final. Oh yes, there are random annoying "mini-quizes" given, which will generally be based on that present day's lecture. Also expect an announced quiz given every other week. His problems on his exams are not too dissimilar from his sample exams given in his lecture notes, but don't just memorize how to do one single type of problem cuz you will get burned. Understand the reasoning behind solving the problem would be more beneficial and helpful to you on the tests. Also don't hesitate to ask about the wording of a question on his exam, because sometimes it can get confusing on what type of info is given to you.

I heard bad things about Daly for 251 and 252, but for 321 I think he is a very straighforward teacher. Its one of those classes where you can go to the class every day, do all the homework, study a little before each test, and get an A. He's a good lecturer, but there's nothing special about him. If you are willing to put some time into it and have done well throughout the calc series, you should do fine in this class.

I read all the other ratings, figured he was one of the best. Hell no, I was wrong. He knows--rather, knew--his shit about 80 million years ago when he first learned it, but now he's just memorized the same lecture and he gives it every quarter. Ask him a question and watch him get all confused and forget where he is, and then answer with something like "I'll have my eggs over-easy, no salt." Yeah, that helped dumbass. Don't take this guy, seriously, unless... no, no, just don't.

Prof. Daly has been my favorite professor so far. He is very easy to talk to, grades fairly, and is helpful during office hours. However this does not mean he is easy. He is just a straight up good teacher. I would recommend him if you want to learn and want a professor that will help you learn.

Dr. Daly is a really nice teacher. He's very helpful during office hours and gives practice tests before midterms. He presents the material needed for the tests but he sometimes makes mistakes that you have to catch. I would take him again if I had the opportunity.

This guy is a really good Teacher. He's also quite a nice guy and gets along with his students really well. He really knows his stuff and takes time to answer any questions students have. His tests can be a bit long though.

Outstanding guy

This is the first C I have recieved in my entire life. I hope that says something to all of you out there watching their GPA. Do not take him--this class was a nightmare!
