Dr. Goldenberg is the cutest little teacher you ever did see. She lectured staight from the book, so you can either read the really boring book or go to class...you choose. Class is fun and you do a lot of group activities. She gives a lot of worksheets in class that are only worth a few points, but that is your incentive to go to class. The midterm was not too bad...a little harder than i expected. That and the final are the only tests she gives, so study for those. She is a great person and very easy to approach. I am glad i am a rec major.

Dr. Goldenberg is a great professor! She makes class tons of fun. The assignements are easy and if you complete them, you will get a decent grade. The mid-term and final are exactly what she tells you. Easy class if you show up.

Only take a class from Marni if it is required! She is literaly on liquid crack! Although this was an easy class to complete, she treats you as if you are in first grade! Yes, the assignments are easy, but absoulty pointless. It is easy to get an A in her class if you feel like kissing her ass and talk to her about her perferance in Recreation which would be the outdoors. She grades pretty fairly, but marks down on the littlest things. She grades on partcipation which is a major downside, otherwise you could get away with never going because the information she gives is such bull shit and comon sense. It is an easy B without trying but beware of her closedmind and "little" woman syndrome, whatever she says, even if she is clearing wrong, is always right.

Dr. Goldenberg is a great teacher!. . . . If you're in first grade. I had her my first quarter at Poly and I couldn't believe I was in college. She treats you like a little kid and moves really slowly over the information. The class is an easy A, but you have to listen to her ramble for 2 hours and you have to play name games.

Goldenberg is easy don't even have to worry. She does have a lot of written stuff to turn in but its way easy only like a page or 2 typed and she gives u plenty of time. THeres 2 midterms and a final she gives u review sheets and plays jeopardy to help u prepare for them. The reading is the most u would have to do but most people don't read because her lectures are all from the reading. Also you have to go to a conference its like a field trip, pretty cool. anyways she teaches 127 and she teaches it just like 101.

She is really annoying with all of the games that she MAKES YOU PLAY.NEVER OPTIONAL.She does not teach, you basically have to teach yourself which is really annoying. She grades the NUMEROUS PAPERS THAT SHE ASSIGNS VERY UNFAIRLY!!!WHICH IS HELLA ANNOYING.She doesn't grade the paper's on CONTENT but on some stupid grading rules.Because she doesn't teach in her class, her tests are hard.I put A EFFORT WORK INTO THE CLASS AND RECEIVED AN A- which REALLY PISSED ME OFF!!!!

This is the worst professor I've ever had. She's a huge motivator for me to switch majors. She can be a push over sometimes, but only to the students she likes. She has sort of a frantic teaching style that is very distracting and makes it difficult to learn anything. I would recomend avoiding her at all costs.

Dr. Goldenberg is a cool professor. Basically if you do the readings and put decent effort into the assignments, it is a easy A. Anything that is on the midterm or final, she has taught during class. She also gives you a study guide which is the only material you will need to know. She really cares about her students and always asks for suggestions and comments to help run the class. If you don't appreciate Dr. Goldenberg and her class than you are anal and need to switch majors.

Dr. Goldenberg's class is the most boring and pointless class you could ever take at Cal Poly. Basically it is a fat joke. But you are forced to go to class because she actually calls out roll at the begining of class and you are marked down if you are late or not present, not to mention you are graded on participation. She may make you want to switch majors, but just stick with and wait for the better rec. proffesors. Her grading is unfair and very very unclear! Her syllabus is a lie, whatever it says it probably means the opposite, just expect to get marked down for the most rediculous little things ever on your paper and be prepared to fight for your grade! Dont be scared for this calss, just be prepared to be bored and frusrated out of your mind.

I can't imagine why anyone would claim that Dr. Goldenberg isn't clear on the syllabus. I have now had her for two classes and I have yet to get anything but an "A" on any paper, so the person who claimed she marks off for silly stuff maybe didn't do such a good job to begin with. Pretty boring class, but you have to take it. Just show up and maybe even read a little and you'll get an "A" no problem.

Pretty boring class, but it is a required class. Many of the projects really reminded me of being in high school again, but at least they were easy. Dr. Goldenberg taught this class for the first time this quarter, and I think she did a good job teaching what she had to. Don't listen to the person who posted two down. Complaining that "...just expect to get marked down for the most rediculous little things ever on your paper..." and then having six glaring spelling errors in one paragraph doesn't help your argument. I can't even imagine what your papers looked like, but I bet she gave you a higher grade then you deserved.

This class is pretty boring and at a difficult time, but all in all easy. If you show up to class and complete the assignments you will most likley get a B, put a little effort in and probably an A. Personally i do not care for Dr. Goldenberg, but thats a personal oppinon. Its only one quarter you can get through it.

Rec 205 with Marni Goldenberg is one of the best rec classes I have taken here at Cal Poly! She made the class way more fun and interesting than the material required for her to teach. So what if she asks students their opinion of an assignment or activity! This shows she wants feedback from her students. And she does take constructive criticism well toward assignments. When I took her class a few students mentioned dropping an assignment because it was too stressful to do during dead week and she was fine with that. She is a person too, obviously if you approach her (like any other person) being mean and very critical it will not go over well. She is also my advisor and she is one of the most helpful people! She emails students back within 24 hours, she is very approachable in her office, she creates lesson plans before class, she actually teaches, she also rarely cancels classes (unlike other professors in our department that cancel several classes a quarter), she takes her job seriously, she respects students and genuinely wants to help them, plus she sets up appointments outside of her office hours. There have been many times I have gone to her office hours or emailed her stressed out about a class and she was able to help me. She makes helpful suggestions about my internship and senior project options and is always available to help students in anyway possible!

I loved this class with Dr. G! She is very enthusiastic about the subject. You can easily tell how passionate she is about the material and the class altogether. She is open to her students' opinions on the course. She is constantly trying to make the course better and always asks her students what they like and what they don't like. It is easy to get ahold of her, she will reply to e-mails fairly quickly and is very approachable during office hours. Overall, I really enjoyed this class with Dr. Goldenberg.

I was nervous going into this class because I had heard a lot of negative things about her. But honestly, this was a great class. You really gain experience through the event you have to plan, and Marni is extremely helpful and approachable. The lecture section of the class is very straight forward. She repeats important information a lot so pay attention. Her tests are difficult but if you go to class and are able to apply what you learn then you should be fine. Overall, I really enjoyed taking this class and Dr. Goldenberg was great.

I'm not really sure how I feel about this class. Marni is incredibly kind and willing to help you understand the material, but the quizzes and exams were still so unnecessarily hard. I always felt prepared for every assignment but still got questions wrong because she was expecting something completely different. She lacks in being clear on what she wants but is so nice that is masks the fact that she is incredibly misleading with what she wants. This class is an amazing experience and planning an event is a great skill to have, but I recommend taking this class with a different professor.

She literally played music her small child listened to. I have never felt more disrespected throughout the quarter by this woman. She smiles while she says something rude and the material she presents is completely useless. I hope they have someone else teach this class from now on because it is an awesome concept but she ruined it.

Dr. G is the most passive aggressive and judgemental professor I've ever had. I worked hard in this class, showed up every day, and got an A, and yet she was still extremely rude to my group and I. You work with an outside organization to plan your event, and you have a facilitator from that organization that grades you on how well you work with them to plan the event. Dr. G embarrassed and belittled our group multiple times in front of our facilitator, so much so that our facilitator asked if we would like her to send an email to Dr. G to advocate for us.. It was extremely unprofessional and demeaning. Speaking of demeaning, she talks to us all like we're first graders and it makes you feel like she has zero respect for you. In regards to the class content: the lab is super cool, but a lot of the lecture content is useless. She spent like an hour and a half talking about how to make a flyer. There are better things to spend my time on when I'm paying over $40k a year to be here. Take this class with Dr. L if you can.

Here's the thing, she is a great person, wonderful human. However, she is a terrible professor. Possibly the worst I've experienced in the past 4 years I've been here. Even though you are an adult, she treats you like you're in the first grade. Which is ironic, because even though it is a 200 level class, she treats it like its a 400 level with the importance of a senior project. She gives you so much unnecessary work, and the course load is insane for the type of class it is. All volunteer opportunities she presented were at least a 15 minute drive away, making very difficult for underclassmen to get there, plus gave an added expense of gas to those with a car. I knew a guy that had to UBER to a volunteer opportunity because he had no other way to get there. The idea and the concept of this class is cool, but Marni made it impossible to learn, enjoy, or appreciate the material being presented. Avoid taking any "Dr. G"classes at all costs.

Don't really know why this class exists as it is pretty much all common sense with a couple of volunteer hours thrown in. She doesn't really teach the class at all but instead makes you watch a bunch of videos on polylearn, has guest speakers come in and talk and has groups present a chapter from the textbook pretty much instead of doing it herself. She kind of talks to you like you are in elementary school and is so energetic and strange that I wouldn't be surprised if she railed a couple lines before coming to class every day. Honestly kind of a joke of a class and teacher and I wouldn't have gone as much as I did if she didn't take roll every day. You'll get a good grade though.

Marni is a straight nut and the worst teacher I have had in my 4 years at Cal Poly. I would not be suprised if she was on drugs during lecture. Her outgoing attitude is completely fake and she plays favorites with 2 or 3 students in the class. If you feel like kissing her ass the entire quarter and playing games with her in her office hours you'll be fine. Every other sentance that comes out of her annoying mouth is "Does that make sense?" Marni might be a decent 1st grade teacher as she treats each student as a child. She has pointless quizzes and ridiculous assignments. Avoid this annoying little women at any cost. Congratulatins Marni for being the worst teacher at Cal Poly.

This class is listed as NR 328 but NR isn't a drop down option available to select. This class is comprised of 6 quizzes (lowest dropped) and three 1000 word papers. The quizzes are based on a meaningless textbook that defines leadership in 15 different ways, and guest lecturers that Marni brings in because I think even she realizes she is not equipped enough to lecture a class of adults for two hours twice a week. She is a very nice woman, but assigns loads of meaningless assignments like making a class full of mostly seniors and 5th years go to the writing and rhetoric center to look over a three page paper, and doing 10 hours of community service to write a paper on the experience. Do not take this class if you are hoping to take a straightforward D5. If you like being treated like a 2nd grader and listening to a class full of Rec majors complain about the world, this is most certainly the class for you.

"Hi-ho-silver!"... here comes Marni riding in on her high horse. By far the worst professor in the REC department. Totally uninterested in student concerns. She doesn't give helpful feedback, and when she asks for constructive criticism of the class she takes everything as a personal insult or jab. Do not....i repeat...DO NOT take Goldenberg if you have any other choice. In hondsight, I would have waited one more quarter to take this class, even if it meant staying at Cal Poly for an extra quarter. She will make you hate Senior Project, which is supposed to be the culmination of your college career. I feel horrible for all the folks who have her for 461 as well.

Holy crap! If you ever want guidance you're better off praying to the Dali Llama to get a better answer. Pay attention to the impossible details and maybe you'll be alright. And talk about sensitive, you better hide you're frustration or she is bound to cry in her office hours. Get an advisor other than Marni.
