Professor Christian is awesome. Her class is very organized and she teaches you a lot of important material, while still making the class fairly easy. One problem is that since Poly is mostly Conservative, most of the material falls on deaf ears. She is liberal, does an excellent job of letting every student talk and express opinions (no matter how retarded they are, and trust me there will be at least one). She is also good at holding her own personal opinions back and letting the material and readings and FACTS do the talking. Excellent class.

Alright so here's the story, if you are the least bit conservative do not take this class! I felt this class was all about bashing whites and how terrible we are and oh don't forget the male population either, they are the worst especially if they are white. She has a very liberal point of view and has no problem disagreeing against any conservative view points. The only homework was reading which was imporant, some of it was interesting while other parts of it were ridiculous. The bottom line to this class is if you end up having to take it the only way to do well is forget about your opinions, write exactly what she wants to hear on the tests, and for your own sanity take nothing she says seriously.

I actually looked forward to this class. it was really low key. there was a lot of reading, but if you did not do it and just used some common sense on the semi-pop quizzes you can do well .i got 100%,100%, 65%, 89%, 100% on the quizzes without ever reading because I went to class and she talks about the readings in class. she is very liberal, but come on, college profs are usually liberal, but she acknowledges other points of view if you have the balls to voice your opinion against hers. i am very conservative and i did not feel like she was forcing me to accept her liberal views. she just provided another perspective, and i told her when i thought she was wrong. her tests were very straightforward. go to class and write down the notes she writes on the board (which are like 4 def a class, not a lot) or get them from other ppl. this class was not too demanding, and she is a very happy person so you just get this uplifting vibe.

everyone should take this class. many of us have only one perspective of society, this class and prof. christian let us into the world of "the other" person. it's important to see how the world through other people's eyes. this helps us become well rounded. the class wasn't too demanding, just lots of reading (some readings were really interesting, others put me to sleep), tests are straightforward and are mostly from lectures and readings. the class requires a lot of discussion too, and you also have to do a five minute presentation on a reading.

I love, love, LOVE Professor Munoz-Christian! She is such an excellent teacher! She is enthusiastic, energetic, extremely knowledgeable, and her class is a blast. She really encourages all of her students to use Spanish; she is not so concerned with her students being correct, more so that they are trying and gaining confidence in their Spanish speaking ablilities. There are some homework assignments and short essays, but, hey, it's college, you are supposed to do some work. Her tests are not hard at all, she prepares her students really well. I can't say enough good things about her, and I recomend that everyone take a class from her, she is wonderful!

She was an easy, great teacher! But I didn't learn that much. MLL needs more native speakers and less PC crap!!

Munoz-Christian is FANTASTIC. She's very enthusiastic and absolutely requires participation. The coursework is all review from 101-103, so if you know that, you'll ace the class. Three short tests (one on present tense, one on past, and one on the rest)and volunteer hours.

Definitly do the homework and small amounts of assigned reading because sometimes there is material on the reading that is not touched on during class. The reading also clarified a lot of questions I had during lecture. She was a nice lady and the class was easy, although I had a lot of high school spanish experience

Great personality, clear objectives in the quarter, and overall understanding this class is for non-spanish major students. However, i feel I would take her for any language classes, as she is an amazing instructor and person.

Karen Munoz-Christian is an amazing professor! She is very understanding of her students' needs. Her class was so much fun. If you go to class every day, participate (which you'll have to do anyways), and turn in your assignments on time, you'll get an A for sure. TAKE HER.

Christian is such a nice woman, and she is clearly in love with spanish. However, the way the class was presented was not my cup of tea. I found it a little condescending. I also found her assignments very inconsistent, and she didn\'t put them on the syllabus. she\'s sweet, and her class can be fun, but be prepared to be treated like a high schooler for lower level classes.

Take Muńoz-Christian for Spanish. She is great. There is a lot of pair work, asking each other questions from the book to practice a new verb conjugation and whatnot, but its fun. She laughs a lot when she hears the funny answers we came up with. Her energy and excitement is what made the class so awesome. She gets really enthusiastic about things, and it makes the class enjoyable. She doesn\'t like when you have to miss class, but gives you 3 unexcused absences before taking away points from your final grade. Definitely take this her class

Karen was great! For a 9am class I never once felt tired because her lectures were so lively. This class is mainly a review of past Spanish classes you take to make sure everyone is on the same page before going into 124, I highly recommend taking her.

she is by far my favorite prof so far at cal poly. she is so passionate about her students and about teaching spanish. you will never be bored in this class. the workload is not overwhelming either. i was nervous to jump into this class, but she makes the homework and essays very manageable. you turn in rough drafts before your final essays which she corrects for you, so there is not a whole lot of pressure. the book we read is pretty entertaining too, and she doesn't make you use or buy a textbook. she is an awesome teacher and this was a really fun class! take munoz-christian!!

Christian-Munoz is a pretty good professor. I went to this class straight from AP spanish in high school, and I found it to be more challenging than expected. The class is mostly essays and in-class writing, so you have to be there pretty much every day. It's not that bad of a class, I just don't recommend sleeping through it because then you'll be playing catch up.

She is great! Follow her attendance policy. If you do miss more than she allows, you will be docked!! I should have gotten a B- but got the C+ instead, so trust ehr when she says more than a week of absences and you're getting bumped down!!

There's almost no reason to evaluate her because of how well she is rated already. Prof. Christian Munoz is a joy to have as a professor. She has a really upbeat attitude and creates a fun class enviornment. She makes it comfortable for everyone from native speakers to those that struggle. She's not at all critical and makes a huge effort to get to know her students. I am very much looking forward to taking more classes with her.

Profesora Christian is the sweetest and most fun professor I've had at Cal Poly. She makes class fun and has a ton of energy, and is always keeping things moving and I never get bored in her class. Also, she would much rather have students feel comfortable to speak and have it be wrong tenses than constantly correcting and making students feel bad which is problem I've had with past teachers. Also, homework is probably like 15 minutes max a day and there are 3 exams and a cumulative final. I studied for a couple hours before each exam and did well. If you like Spanish and have the brain for it, this class will definitely be fun and interesting for you.

I enjoyed this class. The test are easy if you study the vocab and do the online homework. She doesn't really go over the grammar concepts, but it is mostly review and it is on the homework's. Pay attention to the videos in class- it makes up a lot of the tests/final. Not too heavy of a work load. Highly recommend this teacher!

Professora Christian is very passionate about teaching and brings energy to the class every day. She is caring and understanding and truly wants her students to succeed. Class is kept interesting since she breaks it up into groups to work on textbook activities and discuss, which makes the two hours go by much faster than if it were all lecture. Although she is a challenging grader on essays, she provides very helpful revisions on your rough draft so you can do better on the final draft. The essays are challenging but the tests are not.

Karen is an awesome professor and she cares a lot about her students. She is somewhat lenient on turning in late work, depending on the weight of the assignment and how late you turn it in. You actually need to read Ladron de la mente because it's obvious in your homework assignment when you're BS-ing. The grammar concepts aren't too hard but try hard to memorize the vocab for her quiz/test.

Karen is an awesome teacher. Although she made my last quarter ever which I thought was going to be easy way harder than it should have been I still like her. She is like a kindergarten teacher. She gets really excited if you bring up something interesting during a discussion. On the down side she assigns soooo much work. A one page essay pretty much every class, 4 three page essays, a ten page essay and a bunch of tests and quizzes and presentations. You can have a test an essay and a presentation all due on the same day just for one class. I think it was actually detrimental to my Spanish cause I just didn't put very much work into any of the assignments cause there were too many (and cause the weather was nice and I was about to leave the beautiful SLO).

Christian was awesome for this class. She does a really good job at reviewing grammar and making sure you have the opportunity to really improve your writing skills. The book you read all quarter long is pretty doable and is actually pretty good if you enjoy time traveling suspense/romance novels. The paper at the end is a little challenging as it's a 10 page research paper completely in spanish, but there's no final! She's definitely the best prof. in the Spanish department and she even brought doughnuts from SLODOCO for us on the last day of class!

Expect to read a lot. We were responsible for reading two 80 pg. novels, a 400 pg. novel, and a 200 pg. novel. She really makes you think on her quizzes and tests and won't give you an A just because you got the right answer, you really have to expand and go above and beyond to get an A. A lot of people seemed to have an easy time with this class, but as an engineer, this class was definitely the opposite of my strengths. It was definitely the hardest spanish class I've taken, however she makes it enjoyable.

EXCELLENT professor. took her for latin american studies. it was a 2hr class (twice a week) but it never seemed that long. she is very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject, which makes for very interesting lectures. usually go in to class and split up in to groups to discuss the readings. or at the beginning of a new topic she will spend a day giving you a general overview and playing youtube videos for examples. she is very nice, easy to talk to, and extremely helpful. i would highly suggest going to lecture because the discussions really help you understand the text better (some of it can be hard to read.) breakdown of the class: you have to read two essays from the textbook and a few chapters from the novel once a week. \'pop\' quiz on readings each week, but it quickly became clear that they were always on thursdays for our class. quizzes are quite easy if you do the reading, and she gives you choices on which ones to answer. she also throws out your lowest score at the end of the quarter. we watched three movies in class, and had to write a 2 page paper on them. topic of paper varied, but generally focused on how the movie connected to the readings in the class. final research paper is 7-8 pages on our choice of topic, as long as it related to latin america and had her approval. one midterm and final. they are not cumulative and are the same format. she gives you a study guide the week before with all the terms you need to know. go through the book and your notes to define them all and you should be fine. tests are identifications and two essays. sounds like a lot of work, but material was explained so clearly in class that the papers were very easy to write.

This class requires an extensive amount of weekly reading and extremely detailed pop quizzes (that most people can’t seem to get a good grade on). The weekly “readings” are essays and they average about 30 pages each on people’s opinion of Latin American culture. Although Professor Christian is nice and passionate about this class, the work load is substantial. I took this class to fulfill my GE requirement because I thought it was going to be rich with history and chill. But this class was by far the hardest class I took this quarter. It required three times as much time, work and effort than my major classes!!! The readings take hours to get through and no matter how much you write or how well you write, she will never give you full credit. Her grading is SO harsh, her expectations are high and your interest will probably be low. Don’t take this class if you’re looking for a breezy GE.

During this entire quarter all I could think about was how this professor reminded me of that small little dog that runs through the back of scene 23 in The Incredibles by Pixar. Seriously, if you look it up you will only be able to see it...
