It's only the fourth week of class but I must warn students registering for next quarter. This class is experimental and doesn't include a lab. Professor Farris seems like a nice guy with good intentions but he doesn't teach. The first three weeks of class he polled the students to get input on when we'd like our homework to be due. Each time the class decided on Mondays yet he could never make a decision. He has a hearing problem so he talks very quietly and also struggles to understand students when they talk. He uses a stack of notecards to call on people for questions. He will continue going through the stack until he calls on someone. This is a waste of time when more than 25% of the class doesn't attend. Also we usually only get through 2-4 problems per hour. He asks for students' results and then moves on with out to another problem without being clear about the correct answer. He doesn't go through problems explaining step by step. I'm really frustrated with this class because it's a bad start to the full 3 quarters I need for graduation. The quality of this class has nothing to do with it being experimental and no lab. If I were you I'd pick another professor.

He is definitely a below average prof. I don't think anyone would argue that. If he was one of your first at Poly, don't worry there are a lot of better ones out there. The sad thing is Farris really wants to get his points across and have an interactive classroom. Problem is, for whatever reason(s) it didn't work. I'm not into bashing a prof who seemed to try his best but I wouldn't recommend him.

Well, I seriously don't know how Farris got a Ph.D. in Physics. When we asked him questions during class, he didn't know the answers. His tests aren't hard, but his final was a killer. I had an A throughout the quarter, and it dropped to a B+ after the final. HE SUCKS AS A TEACHER. Believe me. There are plenty teachers better than he. ONLY TAKE HIM IF YOU HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE.

Farris was arguably the worst professor ever!!! He came to class everyday the first three weeks of the quarter and changed the homework policy before saying we didn't have to do it anymore. Our first two midterm averages for the class were 50% and 30%. This guy has absolutely no idea how to teach. When someone would ask him a question, he would stare off into space and think for minutes. Then he would say,"Come to office hours." One person asked him a question on Mastering Physics and he said that he was hoping no one would ask that one cause it was too hard for him! He doesn't know how to do what he teaches us. He would walk up to the board and copy the solutions manual. He couldn't explain it and couldn't understand the simplest questions people asked. Don't take this guy!!!! If he is the only teacher available, wait and take it a different quarter!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

This guy looks and acts like a possum. People had problems in his class because his lectures were hard to follow, dull and too slow. He is easy if you know physics, but if you need someone to teach it to you, look elsewhere.

FUCK YOU YOU PIECE OF WORTHLESS SHIT!!!! this is the worst physics teacher possible. all he does is barely mumble up in front of the board while not presenting anything that would remotely help you in the class. when asked to do some example problems he said that he did not believe in doing that because the people that knew how to do it would not benifit. well if they know how to do it already then theres no problem you worthless fuck. and by the way i dont think anybody got anything in the class. like i said he never presents any material period. he stands in front of the class for a hour everyday and mumbles some shit that nobody can here and defintly has nothing to do with physics. if he is that last prof. left take physics another quarter cause this guy isnt worth the paper his name is printed on. FUCK YOU FARRIS
