Prof. De Yong Rocks! He is a great teacher and has the ability to take complex ideas and make them simple. I really enjoyed his class. I reccommend taking De Yong for any class you can.

Prof. DeYong is a great policy teacher. He has lived through and experience so many of the issues he covers in class. He is the type of teacher that is not out to trick you, his tests cover exactly what you go over in class. The tests are not easy, but if you attend class you should be more than fine. He assigns a couple of short research papers in the beginning that are a good tool to learn from. In other policy classes people have to write a 7 page paper! Prof. DeYong is one of the best teachers I have had a Cal Poly, you can tell he cares and is available for help anytime you need it.

Ron is a nice man, but he just isn't really made for teaching. He doesn't explain things very well, but repeats the material enough so that you can at least regurgitate it on the tests. The class is easy but extremely boring. There are two short papers in the beginning, a few short homework assignments and one or two quizzes. A majority of the class grade is based on one midterm and a non-cumulative final. The tests are mostly matching and fill-in the blank and are pretty easy if you study. There is no book so you have to go, but I just switched off going with a friend. Don't take this class if you actually want to learn about Policy, but otherwise its easy.

What the guy/gal below said. Amen. I too took this class and have long since graduated from Poly, but I was cruising Poly Ratings for a kick and thought that I should pipe in and let you know how much of a joke this prof is.

I really liked ron, he was a bit boring when I had him for farm credit all those years ago, but he remembered my name from the time I was a freshmen to the time I was a super senior. He was a great SP adviser and made the process a lot easier
