Excellent professor. He was teaching this class for the first time and did an extremely good job considering his inexperience. He presented everythign clearly and was available for clarification whenever I asked. He was very friendly at all times as well - not condescending like many teachers I have had to deal with. We even had students from other teachers coming into our lecture because they wanted to actually understand the material and their actual teacher was unintelligible. I also had him for lab and learned a great deal about the actual practical application of all the theory we were learning. He related what he taught in class exactly to what we were doing in lab which is great because it is so rare to see this actually happen. The only negative I would say actually has nothing to with this professor's teaching ability: This class tries to cover too much material in one quarter, I think they should split up the material and have a class JUST on state machines/Flip-Flops because near the end we had to rush through everything and didn't cover those as well as I would have liked due to lack of time. Bottom line: If you need to take CPE 129/169 TAKE EISWORTH!

As a computer science major, I'm not all that fond of the hardware aspect of machines. I'm far better at the software end of things. Ron Eisworth, however, just about managed to make this class enjoyable for me. He's a very nice guy, and he's excellent about helping during office hours (or whenever you can manage to schedule a meeting with him). Everything you need, he teaches you, so you might want to consider sharing a book with a friend like I did and only use it to do your homework. Honestly, I barely used the book for anything else. His tests are pretty easy, and he doesn't waste a lot of time concentrating on tiny details that aren't very relevant to the big picture. He has a habit of letting class out early or even cancelling it, so every once in a while, my class got a pleasant surprise and much-needed time off. I definitely recommend professor Eisworth.

Ok so i am taking a class with him at this moment, but the class is great, he helps a lot. He even posts all the class notes online and he skips sections of the book that are stupid. Great teacher.

This guy's great. Doesn't waste your time, and is there for questions if you need him. Grades the labs really easily, and often lets you skip stuff if it's dumb.

This is one of those professors who has actually worked and works in industry. He knows when working on a project things can be changed and adapted to the situation. He does not make you do things just for the sake of doing them. He is very helpful in lab and would not hesitate in going through all of your code to help find where you went wrong. Great guy with a lot of practical real world information.

This is the first C I have recieved in my entire life. I hope that says something to all of you out there watching their GPA. Do not take him--this class was a nightmare!

While the labs for 241 are not very well written, Prof. Eisworth is excellent at explaining things to you if just you ask him. He doesn't get hung up on theoretical stuff and is far more into practical application than anything else. He's super understanding and reasonable, so as long as you put in the work you'll be fine. Plus, he made sure that our 6-9pm section almost never went the full 3 hours. Overall, one of the best EE professors I've ever had!

Pretty laid-back guy. Labs are graded on a 30-point scale, and although it's easy to get an A on them, it's pretty hard to get a perfect score. He doesn't spend too much time on the recitation, either. Sometimes if you can't figure out how to wire something up or what the oscilloscope plot is supposed to look like, he might give you the answer. Also, the lab final was cake; it's the most basic questions you can think of from 211 and 212. Overall, this guy would have to be the best EE prof. I've had so far.

Eisworth is a good guy who knows his stuff. Though, there's really not much of an opportunity for it to make a difference in 242. He explains things well at the beginning, which is something I've noticed other lab instructors often fail at. Then, will pretty much just sit somewhere working on something unless you ask for help. Will come around and check on everyone occasionally. The grading was fair.

Total BOSS! He is the best, seriously. TAKE HIM! You will get out of lab early every time, learn everything just as well as all the other lab sections, and it's all because he helps you through it and is super clear.
